DMP Touch Interactive application response slow

Hi,
In our customer premise we deployed a solution which we have developed as a touch interactive application using a 3rd party Content Management System. This application contents are pushed to the DMP and stored locally. This app has more graphics and there is no Video involved. The content size is aroun 105 MB. We are using 3M touchscreen.
The application is designed in such a way that when the user clicks on the tabs , it goes to that particular tab contents. The issue here is , when user clicks/touches the tab on the screen, it takes more time to respond, which means it takes more time to go to that particualr screen. So I am not sure how to reduce this response time .
We are using the Cisco(OEMed) LCD 32 inch screen with resolution as 1366x768 which is said as native resolution. We use HDMI to connect to the DMP to the LCD screen.
Please let me know how to increase the speed of the interactive application.

JK,
The first thing to do is to narrow the "response" time issue to either
the 3M Touch driver OR the application itself.
You can use another touch application (1 or more) to get a benchmark
on the response of the Touch response.  If all applications respond
to the touch with the same delay then the problem "may" be with the
3M touch driver and may need some enhancements and tweaking.
If the other Touch apps are faster to respond then your "Touch App"
in question, the we are looking at an application issue.
A common symptom seen with custom apps and performance is
because the developers create the apps and workstations with high
processors and fast video cards.  Therefore what seems acceptable
performance on on the workstation does not translate to the slower
DMP.
Please provide the output of the STATUS MIB in a text file and
upload here for review.
Thanks
T.

  • Packaging an interactive application!

    Hello all,
I hope that you are well!
Here, I am facing a challenge with SCCM 2012 SP1 and an application that we want to package, so we can push that application with SCCM 2012 SP1.
Here is the issue...that specific application (.exe) which as been build in 1997 :-( ...did not have an option to install it silently, no switch like /q /silent and so on.
To install that specific application we need to follow the wizard, by clicking Next until it's installed on the PC.
We did tried to virtualize that app with App-V 5, without obtaining a good result, we're having issue when the sequencer start.
So, my question is...Is there anyway that I can achieve this, packaging an interactive application so we can push it with ConfigMgr 2012 SP1.
Any ideas, are much than welcome...
    Best regards,
    Stephane

Check if your application supports the -r switch which you can use to "record" interactive responses into a setup.iss file. This is a pretty old technology.

  • Application Express slow down

I launched my first APEX application a week ago - before I went on my vacation. At that time, the response time was extremely fast - no matter if the user was trying to navigate between pages and tabs and to log in or log out. When I came back this morning, I found that the application was slowed. Then, I tried to see if the slow performance was related to the shared memory by clicking the same record several times for several records. What I saw was that the first time I called the record it was slow. When I called the same record after the first time, it became fast - because the record was cached. This showed me that the problem might relate to the shared memory. However, since the database is very small and the total SGA is already 300MB (Shared Pool: 148MB,
Buffer Cache: 136MB, Large Pool: 4MB, Java Pool: 4MB, Other: 8MB), it doesn't make sense to keep adding memory to it - especially the database server is now shared by 5 individual databases. I wonder if, after a while, some logs or sessions in APEX need to be "manually" purged in order to increase the performance.
    Thanks.

The performance issue of APEX is strange because, at the very beginning, the performance of the application increased extremely right after I changed the total SGA from 198MB to 300MB (with about 160MB for buffer cache) - every page or tab was immediately loaded when clicked. It lasted for about 2 weeks. Then, since last couple of days, it slowed down significantly. It was no use even after I again increased the total SGA from 300MB to 400MB and re-started the database. This doesn't make sense because the performance should be consistent. Also, it is a very small database with only 5 users.
Has anyone encountered the same issue?
    Thanks.

  • Application running slow in ver 1.5, 1.6 but not in 1.4

We have a application that was running very slow when we used any version sun java instead of MS java in IE6 SP2.
I removed MS Java from IE and installed Sun java 1.4.2_16 and the applications starts in under 10sec's.
But we had to test the other version of java as well, i then installed the other versions from 1.5 update 14 to 1.6 update 4 and the application takes about 30 to 40 sec to load the web page.
I then looked at the development version of java 1.6 update 10 and version 7. In 1.6 update 10 the application would load but would not refresh the applets it would just hang. In version 7 the application would not start up at all.
In all the versions i increased the memory parmeters from 128 to 256 and in version 1.6 i changed it to -Xmx300m as well but still the application was slow loading. Removed all the versions and reinstalled 1.4.2_14 and the application works fine and loads up under 10 sec.
Does any one have any idea why this is happening.
    IE 6 sp2
    XP sp2 been used.

You should try profiling the startup code.
As a first go around, you might try getting a stack trace during the startup process and look for locks (see jstack).
If your application is built on Swing, it's my understanding that the later versions of Java are more strict about use of the Event Dispatch Thread--pay particular attention to activity off the EDT locking the thread.

  • I just update my iMac from Mountain Lion to Mavericks and the application are slow to open. The same happens to opening webpages . Please help

just update my iMac from Mountain Lion to Mavericks and the application are slow to open. The same happens to opening webpages . Please help

Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Reinstalling Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • [CS3][JS] Is there a JS equivalent of AS 'ignore application responses'

I used 'ignoring application responses' a few times in AppleScript to speed up a script execution. Is there a Javascript equivalent. Curious.

    > I think that you'll find bigger performance gains in managing the undo queue by doing a save as every so often, or turning off undo through Rorohiko's plug-in (or, in CS4, disabling undo via doScript). Working with the window hidden can also produce some performance improvements.
    >
    Hi Ole,
As best as I can tell, the only way to get those performance gains is to
actually clear the undo stack (either by "save as", or by using
Rorohiko's "Discard Undo" OpCode. Collapsing the undo stack either using
APID, or via doScript in CS4 (great new feature, by the way!) does not
actually clear the stack it just collapses the stack into one undo item
which doesn't help performance (it might even hurt performance
slightly). The whole collapsed stack is still retained in memory.

  • Creating multi-touch interactions

    Hello,
I'm exploring the possibility to create multi-touch interactions in Adobe Captivate (Version 7). Our goal ist to realize software simulations where users can solve tasks using gestures which are commonly supported on touchscreen devices (for example swiping across the screen or pinching an image to scale it).
I have found out that such interactions can be created in ActionsScript 3 but haven't found any information about this regarding CP7.
I know that Infosemantics offers Widgets which allow users to slide and rotate objects. But those functions are realized as "single-touch" interactions and are not compatible to html5.
Do you know about ways to realize multi-touch interactions for mobile devices in Adobe Captivate 7. Are there available widgets to realize this on the market?
Thanks a lot for your help.
    Best regards
    Stefan

Hello, wondering if there is now a work around or update available in Captivate 7.0 for multi touch interactions. For instance, pinch an area on the screen to scale it.

  • Application folder slowed down after 10.6.5 upgrade

    Hi,
im not too sure whether this software upgrade cause the problem. my application folder slowed down when i am scrolling. it will lag and not as smooth as previously.
any way to resolve this problem. hope to hear from you guys soon. thanks alot: )

Are you referring to the list view in the Applications folder while open in Finder?
Did you take the usual precautions before and repair permissions after the latest software update?
If not, go to Disk Utility and repair permissions first. Restart.
If problem persists, it could be a corrupt preference file; go to Users -> Library -> Preferences and trash this file: com.apple.Finder.plist. Restart and see if the issue is resolved.

  • Unable to connect to canon MG5350 printer wirelessly and also noticed running very hot to touch and a little slow at times.  Can anyone advise?

I have been having trouble connecting to my wireless printer and removed printer from system preferences thinking I could reinstall easily enough, however my computer does not recognise/identify my printer when I try to add a new printer.
I then noticed that my Mac was running really hot to touch and is sometimes slow, is this a serious problem, i no long have technical support or service cover.  Any recommendation as to what type of places I should go to get it serviced?  Apple only?

For resetting or setting up your printing system, go to > OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system
To find local Authorized Apple Service Provider's, go to > https://locate.apple.com/

    Hi,
Since new iTunes 7.7 & 2.0 firmware installation, it's impossible to run mail on Ipod touch.
Application quit immediatly and it's also impossible to delete mail acount on ipod touch.
After many restorations the problem is still alive.
I guess i'm not the only one...
    Please need some help...
    PO

HI, I think i found the solution
1- Restore ipod with 2.0 firmware. You loose all settings
2- Delete old ipod restoration on iTunes preference panel
3- Do not use old ipod retauration on Itunes for the first sync
4- When you sync 1st time, set only mail account on itunes and choose fresh ipod (no music, no photos ....it's very faster)
5- See after if mail account is transfered
    6- What a beautiful life......
Tell me if doesn't work !!

  • IPod Touch 4 is very slow on iOS 5.1

My iPod Touch 4G is very slow on iOS 5.1. I don't want to downgrade to iOS 4XXX. Apple must do something on that. I don't think it is because of the 256MB ram. Because my iPhone 3GS have also 256MB and iOS 5.1 run very smooth and is fast. Why is iOS 5.1 on the iPod touch so terrible?

My iPod Touch 4G is very slow on iOS 6.1.1   I want to downgrade to iOS 5.1. I was running smoothly when it was in ios 5.1 but when i updated it to iOS 6, it slowed down and i close all the apps properly.

  • Why is Mac OS X 10.7 so much slower than Snow Leopard? It isnt smooth, applications are slow and most dont respond, and dowloads take hours, minutes.

Why is Mac OS X 10.7 so much slower than Snow Leopard? It isnt smooth, applications are slow and most dont respond, and dowloads take hours, not minutes.

Something is seriously wrong with your installation or you are critically low on RAM, like below 2 GB.
How much RAM is in your machine?
    Have you tried a Recovery?

  • After installing Mavericks, computer is slow and applications are slow to open

Mavericks has slowed my IMAC to a crawl. Applications are slow to open. Disc burning is slow as well as photo editing. Any Idea's

We need more info about your iMac other than "My iMac is running slow."
What year, screen size, CPU speed and amount of RAM installed?
To find out info about your system, click on the Apple symbol in the upper left of the OS X main menu bar. A drop down menu appears. Click About this Mac. A smaller popup window appears. This gives you basic info like what version of OS X your iMac is running, the speed of your iMac's CPU and how much RAM is installed.   Click on the button that says More Info. A larger window appears giving you a complete overview of your iMac's hardware specs. Highlight all of this info and copy/paste all of this into another reply to this post, editing out your iMac's serial number before actually posting the reply. This will tell us everything about your iMac so we may begin to help with your iMac issues.
How full is your Mac's hard drive?
Locate your iMac's hard drive icon on the OS X desktop. Click the icon once, then use the keyboard key combination Command-I. This will give you additonal info about your iMac's internal hard drive.
How many applications do you run simultaneously in the background while working in another application?
Do you run any antivirus software on your Mac? Antivirus software can slow down the normal operation of OS X.
Conpletely uninstall any virus software you have installed following the anti-virus deveolper's instructions.
Do you run any "crapware" like Mackeeper or any other type of "crapware" like so called hard drive "cleaning" apps?
Another her possibilty is that some hardware, like your iMac's hard drive, could be failing.
