Interactive audio

I need some help on writing a script.
I have a button over video that changes (when activated) the audio stream 2 for the viewer, that part is fine. When the track reaches the second marker of the button over video (end of subtitle) I would like for the audio stream to change back to audio stream 1 by itself by writing a script for that marker. How can I do this? Please help me.
Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Tricky.
The second marker is actually the end of the first marker, so you could try writing a script to switch audio streams and set it as an end jump for the first marker. I'm not convinced it will work, but the script will look something like this:
Set System Stream Au(Stream details)
Jump Trackname::marker
This might cause a pause when you playback the track without switching streams, since the end jump to the script and back will take a moment. You'll need to try it and see if it works, I'm afraid.

  • Interactive audio controls

    I'm using Captivate 5.5 and creating a quiz to export in SWF/HTM format.
    It's a listening-comprehension quiz with fill-in-the-blanks input, and I need to let the user pause, continue, and replay an audio file. I've tried inserting audio in a slide or in the background, but the above functions are not available. I thought of inserting the audio in an interactive object such as a button, but interactive objects seem to be unavailable with quizzes. I'd need multiple buttons, anyway.
    Incidentally, when the audio is in the background the answer blanks don't accept input.
    I'd appreciate any help with this problem.
    Regards,
    Dave in Japan

    Thanks for the quick and informative reply. Sorry if my topic seemed to contain a lot. I only meant to ask one question (about user controls for audio) and explain what I had tried. I also noted that background audio has the added disadvantage of interfering with input in blanks.
    It does seem that I should try custom slides, as you suggest -- or just work in Flash. I'll look at the examples on your site, anyway.
    Again, many thanks.

  • Interaction Audio Problem

    I am testing the new Captivate 6.  I created a "tabs" Interaction and added both an image and audio to each tab.  The audio does not play in the preview or after I published the file.
    I probably just need to click a setting somewhere.  Any suggestions?

    Hi, I'm having the same problem with the interactions.  I've imported the audio file into the Captivate library and added it that way but it still does not work.  Please help.
    Thanks.

  • Interactive audio button as mso within another mso (slideshow)

    Hello,
    I have a tricky question and after researching in the forum I have not come across a solution yet. I have a picture slideshow playing automatically and on these pictures are a text box and a button to tap onto the next page. I set this up as a multi-state-object whereas every picture of the slideshow is a separate status. See here:
    That works perfectly fine. However, I want to autoplay an audio file in the background but want to allow the user to manually pause it. This is why I created another multi-state-object including the audio file and 2 buttons (a grey crossed-out button to pause it and a red-orange button to continue playing). Please see this screenshot:
    In another post in this forum I found out how to combine those 2 MSOs together: I anchored the audio button MSO in a small text frame and included that into my main MSO with the picture slideshow (into every single status!). Then I added all the functions to the buttons again (switch to status 2 red audio button, pause audio playing etc.). My problem is now that the second status of the audio button MSO (= red audio button) does never show up at all and the audio file starts playing from the start everytime the status in the pic slideshow MSO automatically changes.
    Can somebody please help me or tell me if there is an alternative to that? Basically, I have an MSO running automatically and I want to automatically play an audio file but allow the user to manually pause and continue it by tapping on a button.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Bob,
    many thanks for your feedback. However, that does not solve the problem as beautifully as I wanted. As you see in the screenshot below, I have now 2 buttons (1 for pause and 1 for play/continue playing). When I click on pause, it pauses. But when I click on play, the audio file starts playing from the start again. I set the button function to continue playing but that won't display then for whatever reason.
    I would like to have 1 button that changes its appearance (pause / play - this is why I initially had a MSO) as well as pauses or continues playing the audio where it last was paused. Is that possible?

  • Is the new ibooks textbooks (interactive audio, video) available in egypt or not?

    hey i want to buy the new ipad for the newibooks features but it says that it is available for US users only so are the new textbooks available in egypt or not?

    Welcome to the Mac experience.
    Your question was a little hard to understand:
    The little apple logo is usually on the upper left.
    Just so we are understanding each other, I think what you must be looking at is:
    Apple Menu → About this Mac → Storage. At least that's what it looks like on my Mac.
    If there are media files listed, then you must have put them there.
    They are probably in:
    Your Computer/Your boot drive/Users/Your user account/ , and in there, there are folders for Movies, Music, and Pictures.
    Navigating on a Mac is done via an app called The Finder, which will usually appear in the Dock (the strip that is usually at the bottom of your screen), as the first icon the left, which looks like a blue and white square with a face logo. (clicking on the Finder is similar to what happens on a PC if you do Start Menu → Computer or if you use the PC app Windows Explorer).
    These are the most likely folders based on the default locations for things. But they may be in different locations depending on where you put them.
    You should have a backup before you go deleting things, in case you delete something that you shouldn't, which may happen if you are inexperienced.
    If you need help with doing a backup or if you need more guidance finding the files let us know.

  • When will Adobe Refine the Interactive PDF Audio Controller?

    Whenever Reader plays interactive audio content, this dreadfully small or dreadfully large audio controller comes up (hard to understand how the size is respected via inDesign's tools), looking incredibly clunky and does not even have an exit button so that you can close the played audio file and continue to read the page!
    When will this be fixed as an update to InDesign CS6 ? This feature should never have been allowed to be released in its current form. When a core feature fails to live up to its promise, then it's in breach of basic consumer laws where I live!

    Pat Willener, thank you for your post but this is a forum for users like me to post about issues, some of which may be affecting other uses and some of which may be answered by other users.
    If Adobe had any kind of interest in the purpose of these forums and the support of their product, if they were also pro-active, then they'd have someone over here acting upon deficiencies mentioned here, not the other way around. FGS, I'm not paid by Adobe to do their bidding, I pay them to provide me with a product that I believe I should have already got in return for my money, not a product with half-cocked features. I filed a feature request, as per your instructions weeks ago and Adobe have not replied.
    From what I now know, Adobe is extremely deficient when it comes to after sales service and the company is gaining a very poor reputation because of that.
    Which brings me back to what I asked, doesn't anyone from Adobe attend to these discussion threads? From my time at other forums, a company rep responds giving a full answer and timeline for a fix.

  • Stopping audio in an interaction

    I have an interaction with audio narration added to the buttons of the interaction. Is there a command to manually stop the audio from playing that I can assign to a button or do users have to wait until the audio stops?

    Button can only mute. I don't know of a way to control audio attached to interaction buttons.  With audio objects or with the Play audio command (stop triggered audio) that is possible, but not aware of a work flow for interaction audio.

  • Should i use flash to create/edit an swf interactive online book?

    Hello I'm new to Flash; as Indesign limits what I can do in terms of sound for interactive swfs (specifically I need an mp3 player/controller that would allow a reader to control a number of sound files from any page of the swf), would flash be a suitable program for creating such a book? The aim is to upload the final swf to a website for viewing online.

    Just a follow up if you don't mind... My main issue is with an mp3 file I placed in indesign, opting for a floating controller; the problem is that the controller is huge and the file stops playing on page turn, and I can't change either of these things from indesign. Can I make these changes in flash or flash builder while preserving the swf document as it is? Or should I restart the project from within flash? Ideally I'd like to use indesign to create ebooks with interactive audio, and edit them in flash to give them an interactive transcript feature that indesign can't do. Is this a reasonable workflow?

  • How to insert AS to fix audio in imported swf ?

    Thanks to Whyves... This previous post seems to have a solution, Im just not sure where i create layers in my Captivate 4 file? As I go into Project > Actions >???
    Cheers

    Re: Captivate 4, interaction SWF using XML and the Reviewer tool Problem
    Part 1:
    Found a way to stop the imported SWF audio when a user switches slides. The following AS3 code was inserted into the imported swf:
    My actions layer:
    root.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, checkSlideInfo);
    My functions layer:
    function checkSlideInfo(e:Event):void {
        /* if user moves to next or previous slide in Captivate, stops the interaction audio */
        if(root.cpInfoCurrentSlide == 4) {
            null
        } else {
            /* stops audio */
            if (savedChannel!=null) {
                savedChannel.stop();
            /* resets interaction */
            loadContentToBox(contentBox.contentText, instructions);
    So, for those trying to find a way to stop their audio from imported swfs, there's one piece to the puzzle!!! You CAN stop your imported swf audios or animation audios using the above function in AS3!
    BTW, it would be nice if Adobe would create a book on Essentials to Advanced Actions, just a suggestion since it is somewhat of a programming language and it would be nice to have samples and more informative tutorials to use.
    NOTE: The above function calls on other variables and functions are specific to the interaction. The main piece to focus on is the roo.cpInfoCurrentSlide. It had to equal slide 4 in order to allow the interaction swf audio to play. If the user switched, I stopped the savedChannel (named soundChannel variable in AS3) from playing.

    Hello,
    About your suggestion for a book on essentials for advanced actions. Rick Stone has such a book, for Captivate 4 (Goober Guide).  I have been blogging a lot about advanced actions, with links to tutorials published with Adobe Publishing Application. It is not a book, but could perhaps help you if you did not yet visited the blog. The feedback from readers is pretty positive. Here is a link to a post that has a list with the published articles, a lot of other blog posts explain use cases and principles:

  • Strange Problem - All of my preloaded .swf files play at once

    Hey guys,
      I've been getting a strange problem that I haven't been able to debug.  I recently developed an interactive audio and video treatment program that users click through in which a master swf file (DTM-Start.swf) uses ActionScript upon first being loaded to load the rest of the program in the background.  Here's how the code looks:
    import flash.display.MovieClip;
    import flash.display.Loader;
    import flash.net.URLRequest;
    import flash.events.Event;
    // create movieclip objects to hold the loaded movies
    var intr1:MovieClip;
    var maladaptIntr1:MovieClip;
    var maladaptIntr1Loader:Loader = new Loader();
    var maladaptIntr1Request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("DTM-Maladapt1.swf");
    maladaptIntr1Loader.load(maladaptIntr1Request);
    maladaptIntr1Loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, maladaptIntr1Loaded);
    var intr1Loader:Loader = new Loader();
    var intr1Request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("DTM-Intr1.swf");
    intr1Loader.load(intr1Request);
    intr1Loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, intr1Loaded);
    function maladaptIntr1Loaded(event:Event):void
        maladaptIntr1 = event.currentTarget.content as MovieClip;
        maladaptIntr1.stop();
        addChild(maladaptIntr1);
        maladaptIntr1.y = -1000
        trace("maladaptIntr1");
    function intr1Loaded(event:Event):void
        intr1 = event.currentTarget.content as MovieClip;
        intr1.stop();
        addChild(intr1);
        intr1.y = -1000
        trace("intr1");
    function playIntr1() {
       intr1.y = 0;
       intr1.play();
    function playMaladapt1() {
        maladaptIntr1.y = 0;
        maladaptIntr1.play();
    So that's the idea.  What's strange is that when I load a .swf file compiled with AIR 2.6 (because the user interacts with the movie and a text file is output) it's fine too, but as soon as I add any actionscript, even if it's just a stop() command, to a .swf file compiled with AIR, the DTM-Start.swf loads and then plays all of the movies simultaneously so they're all going off at once.  Essentially, flash seems to be ignoring the maladaptIntr.stop() command in the Loaded function, for instance.  I just don't understand why adding any Actionscript whatsoever to a .swf compiled with AIR would make my DTM-Start do this.  I am very confident this is the issue too, because loading .swf files compiled with the FlashPlayer with action script are fine...AIR .swf files without Actionscript are fine too, it's only AIR .swf files with ANY actionscript that cause this problem....
    Any ideas?
    Much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Ricky

    One solution is simply to have a stop() in the constructor of the document Class of each swf you're loading. Another solution is something like:
    package {
         class MainDocument extends MovieClip {
         protected var swfs:Array = ['DTM-Maladapt1.swf', 'DTM-Intr1.swf'];
         protected var positions:Array = [{x:0, y:0}, {x:0, y:0}];
         protected var movies:Array /*of  MovieClips*/ = [];
         protected var loadIndex:int;
         protected var playIndex:int;
         protected var curremtMovie:MovieClip;
              public function MainDocument() {
                   super();
                   loadMovie(loadIndex);
              protected function loadMovie(loadIndex:int):void {
                   var loader:Loader = new Loader;
                   loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoadComplete);
                   loader.load(new URLRequest(swfs[loadIndex]));
              protected function onLoadComplete(e:Event):void {
                   var mc:MovieClip = LoaderInfo(e.currentTarget).content as MovieClip;
                   mc.stop();
                   var position:Object = positions[loadIndex];
                   mc.x = positions.x;
                   mc.y = positions.y;
                   addChild(mc);
                   movies[movies.length] = mc;
                   loadIndex++;
                   if (loadIndex<swfs.length) {
                        loadMovie(loadInxed);
                   } else {
                        playMovie(playIndex);
              protected function playMovie(playIndex):void{
                   if (currentMovie) {
                        currentMovie.stop();
                   currentMovie = movies[playIndex];
                   currentMovie.play();
    Note that with this approach you don't need to create a whole new set of logic each time you want to add a new swf to load.

  • Embed .mp3 in .pdf without controller?

    Whenever I embed an .mp3 in an interactive .pdf, a gray "controller" box appears as soon as the sound is triggered. And once the sound is triggered, the box cannot be made to go away without closing and reopening the pdf. I have no use at all for these things. I feel like I should be able to include interactive audio in a document without being forced to have these unhelpful controllers cluttering up my carefully-designed documents. (I mean, it's interactive audio; should there really be an obligatory visual component?)
    Am I missing something? There doesn't seem to be any way to "turn these things off." Any help would be appreciated!

    It could be some type of font incompatability between your PC and your Mac.  Most OTF's ( Open Type Fonts ) are compatable with both the PC and the Mac, but it may be a good idea to find out which font is suspect and replace it with a new, Mac version ( license ).  And, yes, for some reason, a font or two may not have been activated when you copied it over to your Mac.  I would think Distiller would be blind to font issues and RIP your file anyway, but again, if the font was never copied over or activated because of a license issue, then Distiller may just substitute the font(s).  It may be a good idea to match all of your previous PC fonts with new Mac versions.  And no, Distiller is not involved when you save-to-PDF in Ai.  The last time I checked, Distiller is / was a stand-alone application for creating PDF's.  Why not try using Distiller to see what happens?  You also have the option to Print > Save as PDF in Illustrator.  That's three ways to create a PDF: 1.) Use Acrobat's Distiller, 2.) Illustrator > Save As > Adobe PDF, 3. ) Illustrator > Print > Save as PDF.  Also, PC TTF's are not compatable on a Mac ( at least, that's the way I see it ).  Have you tried to print a desktop version of the Ai file to see if the font loads in your print driver?  If the printer skews the text that carries your font, then you know the font is definitely the problem.

  • DPS app on Microsoft Surface?

    How do I get my DPS iPad app towork on Microsoft Surface? Make a custom folio right?

    Find yourself a Windows 8 developer - they're out there.
    I re-published my DPS app for Windows 8 - desktop and tablet, including Surface - but Adobe DPS is not yet part of the process.
    A friend published a little diagramming app for Win8 called Sekvenz (free 30-day trial http://sekvenz.com/I think) He looked at my app and said that since I already had all of the content, that he would help me re-craft it for Win8. There were a few give and takes, of course, but the app is now live (and free) in the Win8 store under the title "Todas las letras." It's a Spanish language children's book with interactivity, audio, and a letter-writing canvas.
    It was my need for the trifecta, iPad, Android, Windows. I paid this guy in beer, your Win8 developer might have other requirements, though.
    FWIW My experience of the Surface tablet is very good. I think that my publication looks very slick and runs smoothly. But I don't own a Surface, I agree that it has drawbacks, odd screen size, resolution, um, price.

  • Flash 11.3 - Data Stream Playback Skipping

    Hi.
    I have a tool which is designed to playback interactive audio/text sessions.  For example, I record a data stream, sending events which contain the text that was typed into a chat window, so the messages can be replayed exactly how they originally occured.
    I have problems with the playback when deploying the swf to a browser, vs running locally from my Flash Pro CS 5.5 software.  I'm just trying to play the flv, waiting for the text events so I can display the recorded chat text.
    A simple example of a "skipping" problem in the data stream:
    1) A 30 second recording is made of text sent into a chat window.
    2) Lets say 5 events are sent to the recorded stream, at time values of 6 seconds, 10 seconds, 12, 14, and 22.  I.e. those are the time values of the stream when the text messages were sent.
    3) Playback with Flash Pro is exactly what I would expect.  After calling "Play()", I recieve the messages at the correct times.  For example, the first text message event is recieved from the stream 6 seconds after playing it.
    The Problem:  When deployed to the broweser, the stream playback seems to automatically "skip" to the first event.  I.e., there is no 6 second delay between the time the stream is started to the time the first event is recieved.  After that, there is the correct time between events (i.e. 4 seconds later the "10 second" event occurs, then 2 seconds later the "12 second" event occurs, on and on...).
    The data must be synched up with an audio stream in some cases.  This becomes a problem in certain cases, as the "dead space" at the beginning and end of the data stream is seemingly ignored.  The data stream is completely separate from audio (not mixed), and it passes the flvCheck (i.e. no errors about timestamps).
    This is all done from Action Script 2.  I use a timer to monitor the timestamp on the stream.  It becomes clear that the swf, when deployed in a browser, simply jum[s to the the timestamp of the first event.  When deployed locally, it is clear the steam properly plays the deadspace at the beginning, before sending the recorded event 6 seconds in.
    I can workaround the problem by creating a timer on the client side and always send an "init" event one second after I want to start recording.  I could get my recordings to work using this dummy event, but it causes addition problems/confusion and I wonder what the problem really is here.

    I do not know what is causing Flash Player not to work for non-admin users, but I have seen it getting to work in the past by using the following procedures
    do a clean uninstall of Flash Player, as described in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315 - do not reinstall yet
    resolve any permission problems using this procedure http://forums.adobe.com/thread/987370
    download and run the offline installers from http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player- windows.html#main-pars_header
    Hope this fixes your issue.
