Interactive Reporting start-up javascript

When I have set up some javascript to run when a document opens (On Startup), how can I subsequently edit the code without the script running when I open the document?

You cannot stop that startup script from running during startup.
One thing you can do. Disconnect your PC from the network and then open the document. By doing so, when the startup script gets executed, the server connectivity will fail and hence no activity will happen.

  • Attn Carl: Issue with interactive report and custom JavaScript

    I am trying to use interactive reports on the same page as a third-party JavaScript datepicker. The two components obviously interfere with each other, but I am not skilled enough in JavaScript to figure out why. It would be great if you could take a quick look.
    I am using the datepicker from http://yellow5.us/projects/datechooser/ (by the way, this is a really nice, lightweight datepicker that does not pop up a new window, and something like this should be built-in in the next version of Apex, instead of the cumbersome server-side popup that is currently in Apex. Consider this a post-3.1 enhancement request... :-).

    When loading the page, Firefox complains (in the Error Console) that "event is not defined" on datechooser.js line 895, which looks like this:
    e = e || events.fix(event);
    (The error console in FF links to the full JS source code...)
    After the page has loaded, any clicks on the Interactive Report gives an error in the Error Console: "gReport has no properties".
    Internet Explorer (6.0) displays a similar warning message ("gReport.controls is null or not an object"), but the functionality (both datepicker and interactive report) still works.
    Would be eternally grateful if Carl or anyone JS-savvy could take a look at this problem...

    Hello,
    On line 931 of your file there is a call to attach the function to the window onload function
    events.add(window, 'load', function()......
    Try replacing that with this which is the way we do it in APEX , looks like that is where the conflict is.
    addLoadEvent(function().......
    I'm not sure this will fix it but hopefully it does, I can take a closer look tomorrow if it's doesn't.
    Consider this a post-3.1 enhancement requestCan you add to the enhancement thread.

  • Interactive Report - Distinct

    Maybe I’m missing something but in an interactive report, can you perform a “Distinct” on selected columns? For example, an interactive report starts with 10 columns and every row is unique. A user then hides 5 columns. The result set now includes non unique rows. How does a user perform a distinct on these remaining 5 columns? I know group by is there, but that has a 3 column limit. What am I missing?

  • Button on Interactive Report to fire a process using JavaScript

    I have a requirement to trigger a process from a button on an interactive report. One of the report columns has the triggering data allowed to make the process fire. The requirement is that the button says different things based on the value from another column in report.
    My button is an html button that when the process is allowed to run, is enabled and fires a javascript function. When the process is not allowed to run for the row where the button is placed, the button changes text, color and is disabled.
    The switching of the HTML button is working properly. The problem is that I am not able to grab the column value from the report to submit with the onclick() event.
    As best I can tell, there is not unique id tag on the report columns and the best that I am able to do is to apply one class to the button and another class to the column that contains the value that needs to be submitted on my onclick() event.
    I have considered using a link column that does a submit to a URL passing in the desired value but I would lose control of the appearance of my button.
    Does anyone have a suggestion?

    In debugging while clicking on back button for first time, I found that after 'Leave to screen 0' statement debugger goes to double click event of screen 100 and start processing from a statment written immediately after 'Call screen 200' statement.
    Yes, that's right. The processing will be continued from next stamtement after CALL SCREEN 200. But after the PAI will finish it shoud go to NEXT SCREEN which is 0.
    If that doens't work you can try leaving the screen 100 explicitly as well.
       CALL SCREEN 200. 
       LEAVE TO SCREEN 0.  "the processing will terminate screen 100 as well

  • JavaScript error on Interactive Report

    When clicking on the Magnifying glass of my interactive report search bar, I receive a JavaScript error.
    Line: 2 Char: 15193 Error: Syntax Error
    The page that I am navigating to has 2 regions. The first is an interactive report and the second is an html region that has an Iframe reference to another interactive report. Based upon the selection of a radio group, the corresponding region(interactive report) displays. All other interactive reports work fine when their pages don't have a region with a Iframe reference.
    If I navigate to another page after the error occurs and then come back to the page, everything then works fine. The error only happens on the first use. I have installed the latest patch set for Apex 3.2 I currently am running 3.2.1.00.11. I read a bug on Metalink that referenced this javascript error, but applying the patch set does not seem to fix the issue. The bug was 8568894.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    This might be useful for others also...
    After hours and hours of debugging headers and responses and comparing pages to others which work, I realised that this interactive report's display condition is based on REQUEST = SUBMIT.
    As such, the actions menu will NOT set the Request parameter when clicking in the actions menu and the Apex engine refuses to send anything back to the browser - not even an error message.
    I'll raise a bug for this via Oracle Support.

  • Export Interactive reporting with javascript

    i have some problem when i try to export in excel my report created with Interactive Reporting.
    I use the javascript code inside the button and at onClick event i succeded only the file conversion in mhtml format.
    The next step is conversion from mhtml in xls format, but i think that the instance JooleObject don't.

  • Interactive report javascript error: missing ) in parenthetical

    Running on 11g, APEX 3.1.2.00.02:
    I have several interactive reports that appear to the user to hang up when they try to sort by clicking a column header (the spinny circles never go away and the page doesn't do anything). Upon the column header click, Firebug reports a javascript error: "missing ) in parenthetical", which I now believe is related to this string:
    <SCRIPT SRC="/oracle_smp_chronos/oracle_smp_chronos.js"></SCRIPT>
    being appended to the results of an AJAX call the report makes to get refreshed data.
    I believe the expected result data (JSON format?) is no longer valid with that string at the end.
    We had to prevent that from happening when running our own onDemand service, but I don't know how to stop it in this case.
    Has anyone seen, or solved, this one before? Can anyone tell me how to turn off that smp_chronos stuff to see if I'm right? It's for performance monitoring or some such, isn't it?

    Our DBA tells me: there is a setting in the web cache called End-User Performance monitoring. it need to be disabled ( "Site-Specific End-User Performance Monitoring Rules")

  • Javascript error in interactive reports  chart - 3.1

    I created an application with the new interactive reports.

    When I use the Chart option in IE I get a javascript error.
    'null' is null or not an object
    It is working fine in Firefox.
    I tried with 3 different themes and it is always giving me that javascript error on the charts. I also tried on different machines.

    I just tried with the exact same version of IE and didn't get any errors. Do you have version 9+ of the Flash Player? I'm not sure why an earlier version would cause a javascript error, but it's worth checking. You can check by right-clicking any Flash content and clicking "About Adobe Flash Player X..."

  • Problem running javascript in an Interactive Report

    I have a page that opens a popup window. The popup window shows a standard report. I have added a column link in this report so that the row selected will be passed back to the page that opened this popup. It is in the Column Link area, Target is URL and the URL is

    This works fine. But since I want to be able to search the report in the popup window, I migrated this standard report to an interactive one. The Column Link no longer works. It doesn't return the info or close this popup window. So it looks like the javascript iis not running.
    I tried to change the information in the Link Column area of the interactive report. I can use the target page and the Item Value fields to pass the information back to the calling page, but it won't run the javascript to close this popup window.
    Am I missing a place where the javascript should go in an interactive report? APEX 3.1.1, Oracle 10g

    Try creating a javascript function on your page and call that instead of running all of the code from the link

    &lt;/javascript&gt;put that in your popup page's HTML Header setting.
    Then change the link to:
    #" onclick="javascript:passbackAndClose('#REGULATION_COMBO_CD#');When you chain javascript calls, the browser generally expects each function to do "return true;" when the function is finished. Usually, this is just assumed, but sometimes you need to add this in to your code.
    Also - you have parentRefesh() - should this be parentRefresh() ?

  • Interactive Report (IR) column heading: filtered items number & flashlight

    Hello everyone
    several hours of searching through the forum did not provide me with leads or answers to 2 questions. Both are related to the IR column heading menu and options. Let's start with a copy of the relevant portion of the interactive report help screen:
    Column Heading Menu
    Clicking on any column heading exposes a column heading menu.

    Text Area is used to enter case insensitive search criteria (no need for wild cards). Entering a value will reduce the list of values at the bottom of the menu. You can then select a value from the bottom and the selected value will be created as a filter using '=' (e.g. column = 'ABC'). Alternatively, you can click the flashlight icon and the entered value will be created as a filter with the 'LIKE' modifier (e.g. column LIKE '%ABC%').
    List of Unique Values contains the first 500 unique values that meet your filters. If the column is a date, a list of date ranges is displayed instead. If you select a value, a filter will be created using '=' (e.g. column = 'ABC').
    Q1: Why do I not see a flashlight icon? I looked everywhere in the report definition to "enable" it, to no avail.
    Q2: Although we've found IRs to be incredibly useful and embraced by end users, we are having issues when dealing with large datasets. Let's look at searching for people's first/last name in our CONTACTS table. The table is ~28,000 names long. If one attempts to use Column Heading menu to "filter" for any name outside the first 500 unique values, the search does not work. Yes, I know that a workaround is to use Actions Menu icon filter... but, it sure is misleading to have a search which does not go beyond letter B in the list of last names. Furthermore, I do not see a way to DISABLE Column Heading Text Area, and avoid user confusion.
    I suspect that "List of Unique Values contains the first 500 unique values" was set for the performance purposes. Is there a way to set that number anywhere? Have it customized for each column? (columns county and state could be <100, for example)

    @Prabodh: what you say is only changing the default image for the column selector at the search bar level. What i think is being looked for is an icon on the popup when a column header is clicked in an IR. Don't bother: there is none.

    I also ran into this problem with IRs and the useless column header box. If you want to hide the unique values list, it is a bother. First of all, you can't disable the finding of values, this is embedded in the widget ajax code. Then if you want to just hide the list, there is no real event you can hook up to. The poping up of the box is an ajax callback, and is part of the IR javascript, but this callback does not trigger any event (no apexafterrefresh for example, which is understandable). I've worked around this by overriding/extending the method which is called when ajax is done loading within the IR code. Here is a piece of code which does this (call it on page load):

       };If you're interested, i've recently developed a plugin for use in my interactive reports which works around some of these limitations. For me, the headers are much more userfriendly than the actions > filter menu. So what i've done is: hide the orignal dropdown, and turn the searchfield into an autocompletion field, which will progressively search through the distinct column values in the IR with ajax. I've even made an option to have the searching behave like a "contains" or a "like". I'm working on a post about it, with background, documentation and source code. I'll add a post here when i finish it up, you can see if that helps you.
    I also would like to add a button later on which will simply add the entered value as a "like %value%" filter. I know how to do this and what to do, i'm just a bit short on time at the moment. I actually think that adding the button in the layout may be the hardest part... :')

  • 'gReport' is null or not an object - Interactive Report

    I'm getting a "'gReport' is null or not an object" error when attempting to use the Search bar in an Interactive Report. Based on googling and searching this forum, it seems likely that the Javascript on the page is interferring w/ the Interactive report somehow.   • Date Filtering With Equals and Time in Interactive Reports

    Using Apex 4.2.0.00.27
    I have a date column in an Interactive Report. The default column and action menu filters include things like "in the last 2 hours". If I remove the time component of the date this fails to find any records.
    If I leave the time component in the date then the user also has the option (via action->filter menu) to select a filter for "equals" and then this fails to find any records.
    I would like to keep the time component but also allow the filter for "equals a specific date".

  • Adding an alpha picker to your interactive report

    The interactive report is realy a great great feature of Oracle Apex.
    When working with a lot of data like cost centers names, organization names, person names, ect.
    some users have requested if it isn't possible to have a convenience filter, so that they just have to click on a letter and they get filtered all the names that start with that letter (aka alpha picker) that look like this:

    I was fascinated that such a feature is realy easy to implement as smooth integration with the interactive report features.

    I couldn't find a place where the filters are stored either - it would be nice to know.
    It is possible to get to the filters via javascript as they are actually stored in a table with an id of "apexir_CONTROL_PANEL_COMPLETE". Within there, there are rows for each filter and each row has four cells. The second cell contains an A tag that has the filter itself as the text displayed as a hyperlink on screen. The third cell contains the checkbox that enables/disables the filter. Strings and numbers seem to be formatted ok, so you could pick up these values and create your own WHERE clause, populate a hidden field somewhere and then pick that up to generate a full select statement to get to the id's that you need.
    I haven't yet tried this, so this is theory only - but I can't see that it wouldn't work

    In my Interactive Report I would like to add a way to click on page results other than just clicking the > to advance to the next set of results.  I have my rows per page set to 15 by default and would like to keep it that way, but want a way to add links to page 4 or page 5 or page 10 as well.  Has anyone done that before, and if so ideas would be greatly appreciated.  I need to keep my rows per page to 15 because of parameters I send to another page, so increasing the rows per page is not an option.     The next button in your pagination fires a javascript function:
    gReport.navigate.paginate('pgR_min_row=16max_rows=15rows_fetched=15')
    You can create a page button or link containing that javascript function. Replace the number 16 by the rownumber you want to start your result set.

  • Interactive Report datepicker error

    Apex 4.1.1.00.23
    I recently started using jQuery 1.8.3 and jQueryUI 1.9.1 and a user noticed that when clicking on a date in the datepicker of an Interactive Report they get a javascript error:
    Line 7316 character 3
    Error: 'undefined' is null or not an object
    appears to be the following line:
    var inst = this._getInst(target[0]); is leaving inst undefined...
    I'm sure it is where I'm including the UI or something because I can't reproduce the problem on http://apex.oracle.com...
    I've found a way to replace the clicking on the calendar icon to use all the latest versions of jQuery and the UI and it works, but I think I should really try to fix it a different way (incase there is somewhere else I haven't found yet)...
    Any ideas?

    there are more validations than you think. Anthony Rayner has prepared a nice summary in a [url http://anthonyrayner.blogspot.com/2010/08/apex-40-enhancements-validating-form.html]blog post.
    You see in that post where and how to disable validations, but also, that you may not disable all of them. The only way to avoid all validations would be to implement the report yourself completely.
    The good news is, you can overwrite those messages. The following documentation tells you how to:
