Interactive Text

Can anyone point me in the right direction. What I am wanting to do is display text in a UI that is interactive. When the user clicks on a word, I want to add it to a swap table and replace it with an alternate value (such as a French word for an English).
So the text would be populated to the UI via a database query. When the user clicks a word, it would be populated in a swap table, the db requeried, and the text refreshed in the UI.
What object can I use in the UI that would make each word interactive. Seems like it should be possible with some kind of html where each word has a unique id invisible to the user that gets acted on when the word is clicked but how?
Any ideas appreciated.

As a start, you can use the JTextComponent method viewToModel to map from a Mouse Event point to an offset in the document.

  • How do you change a "row Label" in form central into an interactive text box?

How do you change a "row Label" in form central into an interactive text box?  I need to leave some of the row labels plank so that people using the form can add some of their on labels.  Can this be done and if so how?

I'm not quite sure I understand your question. Respondents (fillers of the form) cannot edit the label of a field.

  • Black screen is in interactive and interactive text (console) mode

I want to install Solaris 10 on HP Proliant DL380 G5. After installing drivers for Smart Array (from CPQary3.iso) I can't see this:
"Starting Solaris Interactive (graphical user interface) Installation.
You must respond to the first question within 30 seconds or the installer
proceeds in a non-window environment (console mode)".
The screen now is black in both modes: interactive and interactive text (console)
If I don't install CPQary3 then graphical user interface works good, but "No disks found" :)
What can I do with it?

  • How do you create aligned interactive text boxs in a PDF with the same width and height?

how do you create aligned interactive text boxs in a PDF with the same width and height?
Without free hand creating the sizing?

Assuming by "interactive text boxes" you mean form fields; in Acrobat, make a form field, then copy it and paste. (GIve the pasted copy a different name so they don't genetate the same field feedback.) Now you have two fields of the exact same size. Shift-click or marquee-drag to select both, then right-click and choose a command from the Align, Distribute or Center menu.

  • Is there a way to change an interactive text field back into a picture box?

I'm working on recreating an interactive form and I mistakenly made a picture box a text field when I should have turned it into a regular text box.
I can't seem to find a way to change it back.
All my boxes are lined up and sized perfectly right now, so I'd rather not have to re-draw the box and re-align and measure everything again if I can avoid it.

Select text field with Selection tool. Object > Interactive > Convert to Object. Place your picture into the frame.

  • Poor Interaction Text Quality

    Hi,
I've been working with several of the Captivate 6 interactions (accordion, tabs, etc) and the text is always very poor.  I've fiddled around with the settings, output quality, fonts and so forth but the quality of the text/fonts remains poor.  Does anyone have any suggestions that may resolve the issue?
    Thanks in advance.

You are using which resolution (because interactions have been designed for a pretty big resolution, rescaling will not improve quality) and slide quality?

  • Interactive text application: Which Adobe product would be most appropriate?

    Hello All,
I will be creating an interactive, online text application and I would like to know which of the Adobe (or any other) products you think is best suited for this project. Your input is greatly appreciated. Here is a description of the final product:
The initial interactive document will have about 200 pages with about 350 words per page (more pages will be added weekly). There will be a variety of fonts used in this document (some 3d text, some flat text, etc.)Thirty percent of the words will glow on the page (at runtime) and upon mouseover the text that makes up these words will expand (vertically and horizontally). Upon click images and movies with sound (animations and videos) will pop up (over the text document) and play. Sometimes a click on a word will change the text in the rest of the document (introduce new fonts, colors and font sizes).
Which product would best accomplish this? Flash, AfterEffects or something else?
    Thanks much!

For the time spent learning how to use Illustrator and the cost of it you could probably hire a professional.
If you want to do it yourself for a small company, avoid Adobe all together unless you want to use their 30 day trails - google it for info.
Gimp is good, free, simple. http://www.gimp.org/downloads/
And as above, Publisher and Expression design can be OK - generally it's what you do with the software not the software itself.

  • Text in interactive fields before exporting - but wish it to be still editable...

Hi, in InDesign CC I have a problem with text in interactive text fields. I would like to write text that is editable after exporting interactive pdf. Because I have many formulars with many many text fields, and my clients would like to edit the text but not write (or paste) everything again. Is it possible to insert text that remains editable after exporting to interactive pdf ? Hope you can help !!!
and btw - is it possible to use other fonts than Times somehow ? Thank you )
    Maria, Denmark

    hi Maria,
You'll need to make these changes in Adobe Acrobat after you've exported the InDesing form to PDF (Interactive).
Presently you can't control which font is used for the form fields in InDesign or enter default text.
    In Acrobat:
    Click Tools.
Click Form to display the Forms panel.
Click Edit to enter Form Editing Mode.
Right-click a text field and choose Properties.
To change the default font for the text field:Click the Appearance tab in the Text Field Properties dialog box.
To enter text in a field that appears by default:
Click the Options tab in the Text Field Properties dialog box.
In the Default Value box, type the default field text.
    Click Close Form Editing.
If you have other questions that relate more to Acrobat than InDesign, please post them at the Acrobat Forum.
    Hope this helps.

  • ID CC 9.2.1: Interactive PDF, text boxes use wrong font

When filling out text boxes of an interactive PDF (created with InDesign CC 9.2.1) in Adobe Reader X, the font used is always Times Roman or such. Whatever I've tried so far, I fail to make the interactive text boxes use a specific font. Should be the same font that's used for the rest of the text on the page. During exporting the PDF, I've instructed InDesign to embed all font glyphs.
Is there a way to get around this problem?
    Andreas

You have to work on it after exporting to PDF in Acrobat Pro and change the font there.
BUT: Don't choose exotiv fonts, use the normal standard form fonts, otherwise the file size will increase, because every font in the form must be embedded. Another problem is that older versions of Adobe Reader or Acrobat or some other possible PDF readers only support the standard form fonts, like Helvetica, Times, Courier in Bold, Regular, Italic, and Bold Italic. So it is better to submit to this limitations.

  • Interactive Image: Text Styles?

Is there a standard text style we can edit to modify what shows up in the text boxes when an interactive image zooms in?
According to the Style menu it's "Body Bullet" text, which just by looking at it you know that's not right. I don't see an "Interactive text" option anywhere in teh menus... assuming it all has to be done manually. BUT if there's a way someone has found to change the default text style within Interactive Images, then I'd only have to do it once and not dozens of times per book. Much like editing layout text (allegedly).
    Ideas?

Yah I'm a little surprised Apple has left out so many basic features and also integrated some bizarro-world behaviors not consistent with any other Mac app I've ever used (see also Zoom shortcuts). Cmd +, Cmd-, Cmd-0 anyone? This stuff is not that complicated.
Hopefully we'll get a hefty "polish update" this summer.

  • Hi there. I having a problem with InDesign PDF interactive export. I would keep my text area style and not text area default style when I export the PDF. How could I do?

    Could you help me?

Thanks for the answer Sumit Singh,
    sorry but my problem keeps.
I create a simple text area and then trasform it in interactive text area, set it, apply my paragraph/character style and at the end export it in PDF (interactive).
I open the file with Adobe Acrobat, but when I customize it, words inside text area have stylized with default paragraph/character style.
How could I keep my style on export interactive text area?
    Thanks a lot.

  • I designed a document in indesign but i need to add a formatted text box to it

I've created an indesign document with an interactive text box, but when I open it in Acrobat, the formatting is stripped from the indesign document in the field where I need it. How do I keep the formatting used on the indesign document so that when someone fills in the content on the PDF in Acrobat, the formatting sticks?

WHat specifically do you mean by formatting? Just the font name?

  • Why does left side text in my fillable PDF disappear when I export from ID6?

Hi there! Looking for urgent feedback on fillable forms.
I created a form using InDesign 6 - mainly text fields using the interactive: convert to text field function. I used these settings: Event: Release on Tap; Printable, Required, Scrollable; Font size: auto.
When I export the form using "Interactive PDF", what happens is that text entered to a fillable line is cut off on at the beginning of the line. Only half of the first character will appear.
I tried adjusting the width of the interactive text box, looking at paragraph alignment settings, and field settings in Acrobat X and can't figure out how to change text alignment within a field.
Seems simple enough, but haven't found a forum or tutorial that speaks to this. Help!
    Many thanks,
    Deanna

    Why bother using it?
Pages '09 works! A difficult concept for most I know.
