Internet Connection Continual Disconnect

I just bought a new MacBook, and I am having a problem with the internet connection. While I am using the internet, every 15 minutes or so the internet will stop working, however will still have full bars and still connected.
If I click on "network diagnostics", the ISP, Internet and server have all failed. If I press "continue" the diagnostics will run and the internet will work perfectly again. This happens continually, on any internet connection that I use.
Would anyone have any ideas what is going on? The apple store also has no idea.
Thank you for your help.

I have the same issue as well. I moved into a new place a couple months ago. My roommates all use laptops with windows and have never had an issue. I've never had this problem until moving in and using their wireless router.
The router is a Dlink WBR-1310. Since its such an old modem i made sure to update the firmware and with their permission tried some stuff I've read about online. Using iStumbler i see that our signal is usually right around 50% and noise is always 9% (and according to my macbook: Signal / Noise: -52 dBm / -96 dBm). I've changed the security WEP to WPA2-auto, and have switched channels a couple times in an effort to use one that's not occupied by someone in our area. Nothing has improved the constant dropouts.
I'm convinced it's the router, seeing as I've never had this problem with any other router before. However, since I moved in I have not taken my macbook out of the house or used another router. So i guess its possible that my airport's f'd up. Everything is up to date and I almost always immediately download system updates so who knows.
I've tolerated this for the last few weeks because i realized that I never had trouble getting online initially after first turning on my macbook or waking it up from sleep, just after 10 or so minutes of use. So since that discovery I started to just put it to sleep and let it rest for a few seconds and wake it up...suddenly my internet connection is restored. Whats odd to me is exactly the same problem you have. The first few times it happened I always ran the network diagnostic and kept receiving results that everything was a - okay.
Sorry for such a long response that in no way helps you out, leberdt. I've just postponed getting an apple id and posting on here for a while now...had a lot of things to say i guess. Anyway, good luck! Hopefully a computer network whiz on here could enlighten us.

  • 13" MBP internet connection gets disconnected when too many wifi connection's available

I just notice this a couple of nights ago... Im using a 13" MBP I bought last June 9.  At night, when there are plenty of wifi connections being broadcast in our condominium bldg, my internet connection is very slow.  Also, the signal strength is reduced to half.  Sometimes I even get disconnected and the MBP wifi has difficulty reconnecting my wifi.  But when morning comes, signal strength is at full.  I ask my friend who also connects to the same wifi if ever he has difficulty connecting at night, but unfortunately its just me.  He is using windows, by the way.  I'm wondering if this is a known issue and have a fix already? or it's just me?
    Please help... Thanks.

I use my 15" MBP this way with no problems at all and I have Mountain Lion installed.  So we need to look elsewhere for the problem, it's not possible to link this to the OS without further investigation (but it could be a system setting).
I  know that other folks are complaining that Mountain Lion broke WIFI.  But if that were the case we would all have problems.  I, along with many others, have no problems at all.  I think there is something else going on.
What is the signal strength with the lid open vs. closed?
When you say that Safari does not work, are you getting a timeout message or a message like "You are not connected to the Internet."?  Of course this is the English version of the message, yours will be different.

  • Internet connection continues to plague Macbook Pro

For the last two weeks the G5 PPC hasn't had the internet stop working every 10 minutes, whereas the Macbook Pro is still suffering.
I've tried the latest and greatest proposed solutions, dscachutil -flushcache, the ipconfig thing my mr erkhoff...
    wth?

by the ipconfig thing I assume you mean
    sudo ifconfig en1 mtu 1400
What change fixed the G5 PPC (or did it never have a problem)?
Manually selecting 4.2.2.1, and 4.2.2.2 as DNS servers on 10.5 seemed to help the G5 PPC, but not the Macbook Pro. The MBP continued to have consistent internet connection hangs, every 10-20 minutes.
Post 10.5.1 update, I removed the manually selected DNS servers, and the G5 PPC has continued working. Although the Macbook Pro continues to have consistent internet connection hangs, every 10-20 minutes.
Both are connecting wirelessly via an older Airport, 802.11g.

My HP 2 in 1 starts-up with a connection to my LAN, but it disconnects while the start-up sequence is running if it is started with the power button. When I select restart from the power-off options, the LAN conection starts and remains connected, even if it was not connected when I restarted. • My Creative Cloud needs an update, but says there is no internet connection, and disconnects shortly after. What can I do?

I wanted to install my creative cloud in order to access indesign. Although when I click download, it tells me to update the programme. So I do. And then it starts loading, but ends shortly after, telling me to check my internetconnection. The connection is absolutely fine, no problem, but it just won't install the update. This means that I can't use the creative cloud AT ALL, because none of the programmes I could be using will work due to the missing update. SIGH!!

Cdannevig are you on a managed network?  If not please see Sign in, activation, or connection errors | CC, CS6, CS5.5 - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html for information on how resolve connection errors.

  • Why does my internet connection continue to drop.

I go back to Safari to connect again and it takes several attempts before connecting.

The solution that works for me 95% of the time:
    1) Shut down all programs trying to do network stuff (Adium, firefox, mail, et al).
    2) turn off wireless.
    3) open up network pref pane. go to Airport -> Advanced
    4) Delete my home network. Hit Ok. Hit apply.
    5) Re-add the exact same network, same WPA password, tell it to remember. Hit Ok. Hit apply.
    6) Turn on wireless again.
And my network appears almost all of the time. About 5% of the time, it doesn't work.
Hope this helps folks limp along until Apple comes along with a fix.
    Good luck!

  • RG54G2 Wireless Router Internet Connection Problem

    Hi,
(apologies for the long message - trying to cover all details - summary: wireless router often drops internet connection)
I recently bought an RG54G2 Wireless Router, a CB54G2 PCMCIA Wireless card and a D-Link GWL-630 PCMCIA Wireless card.  In addition to two laptops connected to the wireless router WLAN, I have two PCs (one Win WP Pro SP 1 and one Win98SE) connected to the router via wired LAN.  I also have a SurfBoard SB3100 Cable Modem connected to the WAN port (this connects to my ISP -  Optusnet (Australia) via DHCP).
The problem I have is that the internet connection is disconnected many times a day (often every few minutes, sometimes an hour or so).  I am able to reconnect by resetting the wireless router via the wireless router configuration page.  When the internet is disconnected I am still able to access the computers on the LAN/WLAN (via Windows Explorer and Ping), I am also able to ping the router and the Cable Modem, but nothing outside of the cable modem.
Also, when the internet is disconnected the System Status page indicates that the router is still connected to the internet, and the Diagnostics page passes the Test Connection test, though no external pings work.
I did not have this problem when the cable modem was connected directly to the Win98SE PC (and other PCs via ICS).
I have disabled the WLAN and the problem still exists with only the wired LAN.
I have changed numerous settings in the wireless router config page with no success (eg disabling DHCP and setting each IP address, minimising LAN and WLAN speeds to 10 and 11MBps plus others).
I have upgraded the wireless router firmware to R1.0.6.0 (no change to the problem).
Searching on Google I have found several other cases of routers with unstable internet connections (none refering to the MSI routers), but none had solutions that helped my situation (most replies suggested updating the firmware).
Any suggestions of how to make the router internet connection stable?
    Thanks,
    Mike

maybe this is the FIX 4 wireles router internet connection problem
please let me know if any one fix the problem with this tips
    thankz

Subject: SOLUTION to my router loosing connection to Windows XP
Reply | Reply to Author | Forward | Print | Individual Message | Show original | Report Abuse
I am happy to report that after 8 days of constant battles, reboots, phone
calls, cable pulling, router changing, it seems that I finally have found a
combination that has had me using Verizon DSL account for over 12 hours so
far without any kind of interruptions.
Since so many of you tried giving me comments and suggestions, I felt that
it is necessary for me to post this here so that the next person will not
(hopefully) need to go through this hell as I did!
My original problem was that when after I purchased a D-Link Wireless Router
DI-624, I would get disconnected from Verizon DSL at least once every 2
hours or so. My internet access would "freeze" and then a little popup box
at the bottom right system tray would tell me that the "LAN cable has been
unplugged".   After about a minute or so, my internet connection would be
back working   This was NEVER happening during the 2+ years I was using my
Westell modem alone (running in router mode).
Please keep in mind: The problem I was having was not wireless related as
it was happening to the desktop computer to which the router/westell was
    connected to!
During these last 8 days, I tried: one DI-624 wireless router, two Netgear
614v3 routers and two Linksys WRT54G v.2 routers. In addition, I received a
brand new Westell 2200 modem from Verizon.   I also tried about four
different CAT-5 cables. Here is the final outcome:
I have the Linksys WRT54G (version 2) wireless router connected to the
Netgear Fast Ethernet FA310TX network card in Auto-Sense mode (using the
built-in XP drivers, as Netgear told me that there was never a newer
revision released). I have DISABLED the built-in 3Com Gigabit LOM (3C940)
network card (via the ASUS P4C800 Deluxe motherboard BIOS), DISABLED the
Zero Wireless Configuration service, and have put in the IP/Gateway/DNS
address numbers inside my Windows XP Network Connections | LAN setup. My
operating system is Windows XP Pro SP1 and the modem is a Westell 2200
    configured as bridge only.
If my situation continues to be stable, I *might* try to go back to the 3Com
built-in card (disable any power management) and then re-enabling the Zero
Wireless Configuration services. But in reality, I am happy with the way
things are and have already spent enough time trying to get my router to
work with Verizon DSL without having it drop connections!
Now, the next step will be setting up the WIRELESS part of this. I don't
even yet have a laptop with me on the premises, but the 802.11g card that I
already have is the D-Link DWL-G650. I hope and assume that this will work
    okay with the Linksys...
One thing I must say is that I never realized that how many problems other
users are having. I would have thought that since 802.11x has been around
in the mainstream by now 2+ years, that things would have been much more
"system friendlier".   And again, my issues were not even WIRELESS related.
All 3 tech supports were not really helpful, as none of them realized that
the problem is somehow between the router and Windows XP (Ethernet card?)
loosing a connection, which of course results in Verizon DSL loosing the
    connection also.
One other comment about the Netgear 614 v.3 router: A number of people have
responded to tell me that they have had this random "router resetting"
happen to them (where the routers behaves as if someone turned the power off
and then back on, and the lights flash) just as if you first turn it on). I
was lucky to witness it myself during one of the "disconnects" that I had.
This was actually the reason why I went back to try the Linksys one more
time. So, I would definitely recommend staying way from this 614 (version
    3) model.
Once again - THANK YOU everyone!

  • Is there any way to schedule an Internet connection reset?

    Hello.
I live in a three-story house and have a Wi-Fi network set up using a Time Capsule and a couple of AirPort Express units. The Time Capsule, which is connected to the modem and is the initiator of the network, is on the second floor and there’s an AirPort Express each on both the first and third floors.
In India, we do not have the luxury of high speed unlimited access to the Internet. We can either opt for a 2Mbps connection (yeah, +scorching fast+, I know) that is capped at 2.5GB and allows unlimited access between 02:00 AM and 08:00 AM each day, or a 512Kbps unlimited connection.
Right now, I’m subscribed to the latter, but I made the mistake of traveling to the USA recently and, after having gotten used to the 16Mbps speeds for a month, I just cannot tolerate the incredibly slow speeds anymore.
Therefore, I’m thinking of switching to the 2Mbps connection. Since I download a lot of stuff though, I need to find a way to have the Internet connection automatically disconnect and reconnect at 02:00 AM and then get disconnected at 08:00 AM. Is there any way to get this done?
Putting my Mac to sleep and have it automatically wake up at 02:00 AM won’t work because the Internet connection will still remain connected on the Time Capsule and I will still get charged for the nighttime downloading. Is there any way to have my Time Capsule do the job for me—some Automator script or something, perhaps?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How would that help though? I need the Internet connection to be reset, so that a new session starts after 02:00 AM, which will then be counted among the happy hours and won’t be chargeable. Restricted my Mac from accessing the wireless network is not the solution here.
Thanks for trying to come up with a solution though. Do let me know if you think of any other alternative.

  • After upgrading to IOS 8, the password for my internet connection keeps telling me is incorrect (when I know it is correct).  Has anyone else experienced this?

Internet connection was disconnected, and now when I try to log back into my same network, it tells me my password is incorrect.  Have validated with my ISP that it is correct.

just upgraded to 8.1, and that took care of the problem!

  • Valet M10 drops internet connection and reboots intermittengly

I have the Valet M10 wireless router.  In the last few days I have noticed that I keep loosing my internet connection.  There appears no issue with my Time warner ISP modem.  But I did notice that when my internet connection was lost that all the lights were out on my router.  Then after a short while it appeared the router was rebooting itself as all the lights started to blink and after a minute or so my internet connection was back.   Unfortunatel this process continues several times a day and sometimes a few times withint an hour or two.  Has anyone run into this type of situation and any ideas on how to rectify.
    I have M10 version 1--   firmware 2.0.03 build 4   software 1.4.11260.0

Hi Carl43m. If the internet connection continues to drop when connected directly to the modem, that will be your queue to contact your ISP. However, I agree with FurryNutz that if it is only your wireless connection that has been affected, we can say that this might be due to wireless interference.
You can adjust the wireless channel on the M10’s web- based setup page. In case you are using the Cisco Connect software, you may try to:
Go to Valet settings > Advanced Settings
Take note of the username and password.
Click OK and wait for the setup page to stop loading.
    Click Wireless and select Manual.
Change the channel to 1, 6 or 11 and save the changes.
To manually access the setup page, log on to http://192.168.1.1and enter the router’s administrative password and username. The default password is admin and leave the username blank or use the one that you set when you initially set the router up. Then, move on to steps 4 and 5.

Any ideas?  I probably have something wrong in my computer settings.

You should restore your modem to router condition and set the Airport Express to 'Bridge Mode'. A full explanation and the method of doing this is here:
