Internet connection down every 20 mins

Hello, everyone
Today I asked my ISP to configure my modem/router as a bridge, and then connected a TL-WR541G (TP-LINK) router to manage ports and such.
Since then, after every 20 minutes Internet access goes down, I'm still connected (apparently) to the network, but with the exclamation mark and the legend: "No internet access" or "No network access". The only solution to this is to unplug the power supply, wait 10 seconds and plug it again. After that, Internet access is back. This generally happens every 20 mins, but it has lasted up to 1 hour with good connectivity before it goes down again.
The router has DHCP enabled, but I have a surveillance ip camera with an IP fixed to its MAC address (in order to let the port open correctly every time I reset the camera). The DHCP range, of course, doesn't include the ip fixed to the camera. Even so, I got a "two devices with the same IP" error a couple of times, even when this wasn't happening according to the connected devices list in the router configuration.
Modem: Motorola SBG901
Router: TL-WR541G
Connected devices: notebook (DELL Inspiron N4110, Windows 7), surveillance camera (TL-SC3171G), desktop PC, Tablet, 2 smartphones, Smart TV.
If any log or other information is required, please let me know.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

• Internet connection sharing between Mac Mini and Imac G3- how?

Ok, I'm trying to connect my G3 Imac (running 10.4.8) to my Mac Mini (also running 10.4.8) but it just wont work.
I've turned Internet Connection sharing on on my Mac Mini, and set it to share the airport connection to computers connected using Built in ethernet.
Network (on the M Mini) shows
Built-In Ethernet is currently active. Built-In Ethernet has a self assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the Internet.
Network (on the G3) shows
Built-In Ethernet is currently active and has the IP address 192.168.2.7. You are connected to the Internet via Built-In Ethernet.
When i try to go to a webpage on the G3 it fails stating, 'You are not connected to the Internet'.
I'm using a standard straight through ethernet cable, as I was told a while ago from apple support that it doesn't matter which u use, straight through or crossover.
Any help would be really appreciated
Macbook 2.0Ghz 2GB 80GB/Mac Mini 1.42Ghz 1GB 80GB/Imac G3 450Mhz 640MB 80GB Mac OS X (10.4.8)

OK after some playing about I can now manage to connect to the mac mini and vice versa to share files.
The iMac G3 now says it has an IP address of 192.168.2.18, and that it's connected to the internet via built-in ethernet. I've set configure IPV4 to Using DHCP.
Except it's not connected to the net.
If i select Using DHCP on the Mini it doesn't obtain an IP address, not even a self set one. So i've set a manual IP address on that, and everything shows up green. Airpot connected to the internet and Ethernet has an IP address of 192.168.2.30.
After reading some forums I set up firewall logging. The result is what happens on the Mac Mini when I use network diagnostics on the G3:
Feb 11 16:43:52 richard-xxxxx-mac-mini natd[394]: failed to write packet back (Host is down)
So I opened port 394 (not really knowing what i'm trying) but it had no effect.

• Network connection drops every 15 mins

Hi all,
i'm loosing network access on my iMac. This has started tonight, I had never had any problem before. My iMac is connected through Ethernet interface to a switch, then access to a router and finally to the modem cable. I have several other computers on this home network, all of them working properly and accessing to Internet without any problem.
Only the iMac is behaving strangely, and only since a few hours.
When the problem occurs, everything seems normal : LEDs are on on the switch, ifconfig -a gives a normal report (interface up, IP address ok within network range (no APIPA), netstat -rn OK), and i have no entry in system. log or whatsoever. But I can't nervertheless access to any Internet site, nor can I even ping my defaut router.
I began to "solve" the problem by rebooting the mac, then found that, when the problem occurs, I can solve it by going to Network preferences, advanced options, TCP/IP tab and press the "renew DHCP lease". Then everything works fine for 15 minutes, and I have to renew this operation.
The strange thing is that I used the iMac this morning and it was working fine. When I switched it on again tonight, the problem appeared .... Nothing changed, execpt one thing (but I can't find any connection) : the World of Warcraft laucher has been updated this morning ! But I can not imagine that this might generate trouble on the TCP/IP stack of Mac OS X !!!!
When the network connection is lost, all traffic is stopped, not only HTTP. If I'm for example playing WoW, I loose the connection to the game servers. Renewing the DHCP lease fixes the problem if done quickly enough.
I know I never had this problem before, as I'm connected to WoW almost every day and could so far play without any problem for (sometimes) hours.
I've seen some posts describing more or less the same behavior, but no answers so far. Surprisingly, many of them reports problems occuring every 15 mins.
Any idea ?
Thanks.

Hello,
I've found a workaround : I've switched my TCP/IP config to static IP address and everything is working fine so far.
Hope this helps.

• Can I use a airport express to get internet connection to a Mac Mini that doesn't have wireless by adding it to my existing wireless network?

I bought a first gen Mac Mini for our daughter and it doesn't have internal airport adapter and was wondering if I got a airport express can I plug it in my daughters room and use it as a local router and just use the eithernet connect from it. Or would a airport extreme work better for this job. I have a wireless cable modem that we connect to. I also have a second question I have a iMac G4 that picks up the wireless signal but will not connect to it does it have to be a Apple airport for it to work or should it be able to connect to any broadcasted signal. Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure I quite understand. Do you wish to use the AEX to provide a wireless connection for a device that has an Ethernet port but no wireless capability of its own? You wish to use it in place of a wireless card that isn't internally installed? If so, the answer is, "Yes." It will work as a wireless access point. But you must have an extant wireless network because the AEX won't have an Internet connection when used in this way.
If you have an existing wireless network with a wireless router connected to your cable/DSL model or your modem is a wireless router as well, then the AEX may connect to it in bridge mode. Note that AEXs don't always play nice with non-Apple routers. Some work; others don't.

• Wireless Internet Connection Between a Mac Mini & a Notebook PC

A Mac Mini, A Notebook PC (OS: Windows XP Pro SP2), A LinkSYS Wireless-G Broadband Router (Model: WRT54G)
If the Mac Mini is connected to the cable moderm provided by the ISP through the router above. Can the Mac Mini share internet with the notebook PC? The Notebook PC has to be connected to the internet wirelessly.
Im wordering if it works or not as Im going to buy a Mac Mini.
If so...
What does the Mac Mini need?
What does the notebook PC need?
Im very new to MAC, I have looked through the discussion, but Im not sure if people's situation is the same as mine. Any help is much appreciated!

If the Mac Mini is connected to the cable moderm
provided by the ISP through the router above. Can the
Mac Mini share internet with the notebook PC?
The router in effect shares the internet connection to the Mac and the PC, neither computer needs to share the connection as they are clients connected to the router.
If so...
What does the Mac Mini need?
The Mac mini comes with an ethernet port which allows it to be connected to the router.
The new models now come with built in wireless so could connect to your wireless router wirelessly instead of by cable.
What does the notebook PC need?
If the Notebook PC comes with integrated wireless then nothing else is needed. If it doesn't then it will need a wifi certified 802.11g wireless card.

• Macbook shuts down every few min. year ago started saying"StartVolum full"

my macbook just shuts down by itself in the middle of everything and with energy..
yesterday almost every 15 min but i was always able to simply turn it on again, like nothing happend, then almost 24h everything back to normal and just now it happend again two times...
about a year ago it warned, sometimes every 30 sec. the "Start Volume" was full and i would need to immediatly close some windows and erase some stuff so nothing would get damaged...
after six months give or take i turned my macbook on and everything was gone and its almost like back to factory settings, just some changes i had made, maybe the first year i had it...
itunes and iphoto was like never opened before.... and empty!!!!!
but i found some files somewhere which i think could be at least parts of my stuff but i couldn't open nor move them...
don't know what to do!!!! i'm absolutly nnnnooooo computer person.....
i actually didn't use it that much, i would have thought there must be more memory left, i used only itunes and iphoto and i had sims2 on it but didn't play and dodn't take space.....did i?
sorry for my bad english and grammar but i'm desperate
i love my macbook
Mac OS X Version 10.4.11
if that helps anything...

I had the same problem, and here's my fix.
Without calibrating the battery for a loong time, the battery no longer knew how much useable charge was left in itself! With 20 minutes left on the battery, the laptop would run out of battery and shut off without warning. It happened multiple times and I got frustrated. After calibration I got some charge time back, but more importantly, the battery now knew its limits and reported the correct amount of time left. And now it goes into sleep & deep sleep when it needs to.
If you have not performed a calibration in a long time (over a year), do the calibration twice. It worked for me! You might notice a very large change in usable charge after a calibration. Mine went from 5000 to 2000 after first calibration, then back to 3500 after another calibration. I am guessing that my true current capacity is around 3500, after 114 cycles. So your battery should be about 2900 or so?

• Very slow ADSL Internet connection on my Mac mini

Hello,
At home I have a little network with 4 Macs; one iMac G4, one iMac G5, one PowerBook G4 and one Mac mini (Intel dual core 1 GB).
The "old" PPC based Macs is running at 2500 kbit/s on Internet but my new Mac mini is "running" on 100-200 kbit/s.
- That is a 1/20 speed compared with the other older Macs.
My network is wire-based. That is a NOKIA ADSL modem (M5112), and a Dray Tek Vigor 2000 isdn Router with 6 ports.
One other thing. The download-speed from Internet is very varying; it downloads a second or two, then it stops and wait a second or two before it continue.
I have tested the speed on different speed-testers and over several days.
Please gi me some advice if you have any.
Best regards,

Mac Mini - Intel Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I need to post a response to my previous post. My connection problem has been solved and it was the standard answers I usually give to newbies:
I was on the phone with my ISP to see if I could manually input the DNS Servers settings as another user mentioned this. The wait time was incredibly long... of course... so while I waited, I reset (unplugged) the DSL modem then the Router. I've done this recently, but this solved the problem instantly this time. You may want to try this even if you've done it before. I can't believe it worked. We'll see if it "sticks" this time.

• ITunes crashes my internet connection almost every time I launch it

Hello,
since my last upgrading to iTunes 10.1.2, (I did not do it for a long while), I am experiencing severe disconnections from the internet. These disconnections do not usually occur at the moment of the lauching, but a little bit later, when I am looking for a specific tune. The application seems freeze during its searching, then I lose my internet connection. It becomes not possible to retrieve the connection once lost, apart from restarting the computer. It is extremely frustrating. This occurs 3 times out of 4... Are some people experiencing the same problems as me, and will the developers do something?
I am connected to a Neuf-SFR box router by the way of an Hercules Wifi key. I tried to remove the key and plug it again after the problem occurs, but nothing happened.

Just for info, I just discovered the long long thread about the blank page instead of the iTunes store screen (cf http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2743839&tstart=0 ): I had the same trouble, that was the reason why I decided to upgrade to the last release of itunes. The end being, that now the goody good screen appears like before, but that the new release cuts my internet connection a few time after I've launched it.

• Firefox "stops working" and shuts down every few mins or less.

A message pops up that says Firefox has stopped working and to close the program. I can "refresh" to the same spot but it's happening every few mins or less. Any suggestions? It's only been happening for the past 3 days, and like others who's systems are "crashing," it's only been happening since the newest update (18) updated onto my computer. I have already done the Firefox refresh or whatever it was called... The only thing that did was get rid of my extra bookmark toolbar rows...still trying to figure out how to get those back! :(

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
#Enter about:crashes in the Firefox location bar (that's where you enter your website names) and press Enter. You should now see a list of submitted crash reports.
#Copy the most recent 5 report IDs that you see in the crash report window and paste them into your forum response.
Thanks in advance for your help!

• How can i set my ipod up without internet connection? Every-time I put my network in it say "Could not find network".

My I-pod wont connect with the network, so I reset my I-pod to see if that was the problem
and now I cant set my I-pod up because my I-pod cant find the network. I cant download I-tunes
on my laptop because I have to have a password that I don't know.

Try either:
- On a computer that has iTunes and an internet connection
- Go to a different location and try connecting to another wifi network

• Connection lost, every 3 min or so

Here's my problem. During video or audio chat's, after a few minutes, the connection is lost.
I will still see the person, and they are telling me that they have lost the connection, but they can no longer hear or see me. Then I get the message "No data for 10 seconds". This has suddenly been happening the past few months. I am guessing it's my internet connection.
I have an airport extreme hooked up to my cable modem, sending dynamic IPs to 4 macs. Any one had similar issues? Thanks!
-Brett

Hi Brett,
I have an airport extreme hooked up to my cable modem, sending dynamic IPs to 4 macs.
Which of those two devices is doing the IP addressing ?
(I can read it either way)
If you se the 10 Sec error message it means they disappeared first according to your iChat. However it seems you are "missing" from your Buddies first.
What is your System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming tab speed set to ?
This should match your download speed upto a Max of 1.5meg

• How can I stop Firefox from re-setting its internet connection configuration every time I re-open the browser? It should stay at "no proxy" but doesn't.

In the past couple of days, every time I close Firefox 8.0, it re-sets the internet configuration to "manual configuration" -- which generates a "proxy server refusing connections" error message. I have to re-set to "no proxy" every time I re-open the browser. This never happened before yesterday. What can I do to make the "no proxy" setting an automatic default on opening? ISP is Verizon high-speed.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
