Internet/data problem

I have an iPhone 5 that is a little under 2 years old. It says it is connected to my internet but nothing on the phone that uses internet/data will work (apps, IMessage). This just suddenly happened yesterday. Also, I am still using iOS 7.1.2 because when I tried to install iOS 8 last week, I could not get the installation to work. Does anyone know what could be the problem? Thank you!

Hi there lns252,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
Unable to access the Internet while connected to Wi-Fi
If you're using a public or commercial network, you may need to log in or subscribe.
Check to see if you have a self-assigned IP address:
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected and tap .
If your IP address is 169.254.xxx.xxx, you may not be able to access the Internet.
If you do not have a self-assigned IP address, see if other Wi-Fi devices on your network have Internet access.
If they do not, consult with your network administrator or ISP for further assistance.
If they do, reset network settings on your device by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
recently used Bluetooth accessories
VPN and APN settings

  • Lumia 710 signal and Internet sharing problem

I've been using Lumia 710 since 3 months. Even though the initial experience was good now I'm facing a serious signal problem with the phone. We recently moved to a high-rise building where the signal is weak inside the rooms. If the phone looses the signal it doesn't pick-up the signal even though network is available. This is causing a serious a trouble to me as I don't receive or make calls during the period. I either need to switch-off and switch-on again or I need to turn-on and turn-off  flight mode for the phone to pick up the signal. Sometime even though the signal shows 3/4 bars I won't be able to make/receive the calls.
I'm also facing a issue with Internet sharing option. Even though devices are able to connect they are not able to use the internet/data from phone. I was using the same SIM with other phone of different make and it was working pretty fine. I rely a lot on internet sharing option and now I can't even swap my SIM with old phone as Lumia uses micro SIM.
Please let me know the solutions to both these issues.

That is not normal though. Bring your phone to your local Nokia Care Center and let them have a look at it.
Internet Sharing on Edge/G is not working very well, try and find a 3G connection (which is fast enough) and you will get a better experience.

  • Yosemite OS is consuming too much internet data in the background

Yosemite OS is consuming too much internet data in the background for no apparent reason. It's draining my monthly internet quota. It's important to note that iCloud Drive and photo stream are disabled. Anyone knows how to sove this problem? Otherwise, if there's no solution I think I'll downgrade to Mavericks.

I'm wondering if you ever resolved this issue. My internet access is via satellite with highly allocated data usage. Ever since updating to Yosemite, my usage has gone through the roof. I've disable automatic downloads and any settings (including iCloud photo stream) that might receive or send data, plus I never use Spotlight. Data usage goes to zero when I shut off WiFi, so it seems obvious that something running in the background is the culprit. Apple is looking into this, with no results so far - meanwhile, I've lost hours of time playing detective, and hoping my ISP won't cut me off. No fun!
Thanks for any ideas you have...

  • Excessive Drainage of Internet Data

    Hi!!
I have purchased Blackberry Z10 on 29th March 2013.I have been facing this problem of                                                                                       " Excessive Drainage of Internet Data"  on my Phone.
My usage of internet on phone is only to sync Emails,Facebook,Twitter and Whats app.Further I don't do any kind of  heavy downloading. I am using 2G internet service of Airtel in which I get 2GB Unlimited 2G Data usage. When I noticed I found that in only 8 hours of usage of Internet on my phone and even not downloading any heavy files or data I am losing more than 200MB of Internet Data which is unexceptable and unreal. This problem I have already faced earlier in which I lost 650 MB of Internet Data only in 5 days..
I have reported this problem to my service provider several times but they always say that the problem occured is not on there behalf , the Internet Data is being utilised on my phone itself.
Its my request to the Blackberry team to kindly rectify this error occurred and  help me on this problem and provide a solution on urgent priority  basis.

Your usage does appear to be high for what you say you're using your phone for.  Keep in mind that the Z10 does not use BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) like all other BlackBerry devices do.  Because of this, you don't get BlackBerry's data compression.  My data usage tripled once I started using the Z10 due to this fact alone.  Granted, I do download more because of the improved browser but even with that fact, my usage would be much higher if I continued with my previous downloading habits.
    Cheers.

  • Ejecting internet data card

I am using now an internet data card which I have to plug into one of the USB ports. An icon on the desktop appears after I plug it in, but it disappears as soon as the app is launched. After the net session is over I quit the app. No icon is there on the desktop for me to eject. so I just have to unplug the data card. No error message or warning appears when I unplug.
Earlier I had another data card and its icon used stay on the desktop all through the net session. After quitting I used to eject the device by right-clicking on the icon before unpluging it from the port.
With the new data card now, is there any possibility of damage either to the data card or the Mac if I continue to unplug without ejecting? Or, is there some way to eject the device?

I assume you are using wireless modems that you plug into the USB port for Internet acess
I do not think you have a problem.  I have two with different service providers.  One requires installation of operating software and if I take it out I get the Apple error message.  The other one does not have any software an I can put it in or take out of the USP port with no protests from the MBP.
You are not going to damage the MBP or the device.
    Ciao.

None of these steps work, also tried hard reboot. . Cannot update or install new apps. Just says waiting. Internet data working fine. My iPhone works fine. This is all on my iPad

Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, reboot the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
Sometimes resetting all settings can help as well. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. If you do that - you will have to enter all of you app and device preferences again.

  • Can't Receive Call in EDGE while internet data is tranceiving

I would like to know if anybody knows that the iPhone 3G cannot receive any call while your phone is in constant data streaming, transmitting and receiving data via the Internet in EDGE network. 3G network is fine, whenever a call comes in, the priority is the call and you can go online at the same time; however, EDGE can only do one at a time but does not prioritize voice call.
I have figured today that while my phone is limited in EDGE network, when people call me, I don't have any indication of missed call nor incoming call. The caller hears couple rings and the call is then forwarded to the voice mail. This is problematic when a lot of people rely heavily on miss call caller ID rather than using voice mail. In case if you are using Google map, Youtube, and loading web pages while you are on the road with no 3G network, you don't even know people have called you.
Apple should allow user to prioritize the data and voice in EDGE network, so that when there is an incoming call, it pauses the Internet data transfer and receive the voice call. Or allow user to use the Internet without being interrupted by voice call and go straight to voice mail box.
I have called AT&T regarding to this issue, they quickly tested out my observation and reported to me that other phones such as Motorola VXX and iPhone 1st Generation in EDGE network were also experiencing the same problem I have described above.

Wow!! Your rambling rant includes more classic fallacies than I've seen in 1 post - straw man, begging the question, non-sequitur, irrelevant conclusion, and probably more....
    snuz wrote:
sure, you can go back after answering the call- it's just like switching windows/screens on your mac.
But what AT&T is saying is that while talking on the phone you can be scrolling through the website at the same time.<snip>
The premise for this is that the AT&T 3G network is using the new HSPDA/UMTS protocols which is built into the iPhone 2 (as tri-mode) along with the GSM/EDGE (as quad-mode). Unfortunately, not everyone has the 3G coverage, and is stuck with EDGE network service, and not being able to use the phone and programs simultaneously. AT&T's site says it's 3G is available in most metropolitan areas and is being expanded <snip>
There is no advantage, even simultaneous usage, talking over the speaker phone or headset and browsing, texting or sing an APP, the AT&T network is incredibly slow. Their 3G is only 400-700 kbps, and their edge maxes out at 135 kbps. The coverage for 3G and tis service isn't fully available,
Huh?. The ENTIRE POINT of this thread IS that Edge is incapable of simultaneous voice date whereas AT&T 3G is. NOT whether 3G is widely available. NOT 3G throughput. NOT whether simultaneous browsing and talking is really practical. The OP's problem was that while browsing on Edge, incoming calls don't get through. This doesn't happen with 3G. It does happen with Verizon and Sprint EDVO.
And if you "read" the article instead of listening to the hype of the phone, in order to acheive the higher speeds of the iPhone downloads, the phone will switch between modes in order to get the best speeds. The phone will seamlessly switch between 3G and EDGE, but with Wi-Fi 'join' on, it may join onto a Wi-Fi network which with 802.11n, would produce the greatest download rates, compared to AT&T's 3G which can only max out at speeds of 400-700 kbps. This will drain the battery and with the noted 'limited number of charge cycles' the battery will need replacing fast.
Again, no one is talking about throughput in this thread except you. You misrepresented what I previously posted and mistakenly claimed that 3G is incapable if simultaneous voice and data based on watching a TV commercial (amazing in itself) and are now trying to obfuscate that with completely irrelevant "facts" and jargonese,
The advantage is for traveling overseas, where the Apple site is mis-leading, because the AT&T network is still a GSM netowrk, the data network is 3G, hence when traveling, there would be no need to 'switch' to a GSM mode in a GSM country. And, not all countries use GSM, some use CDMA, which would rule out the iPhone.
You just keep piling on the irrelevant crapola.
Since it is cheaper and easier to upgrade the CDMA networks to the HSPDA standard, and LG is releasing their HSPDA phone this month (GSM right now), undoubtedly Sprint and Verizon, if they haven't already added it, or are getting ready to launch it, will upgrade to HSPDA and faster than AT&T and T-Mobile can since they also have to add in the UMTS standard also.
Who cares? The die is cast and Apple chose AT&T. Most (me included) would have preferred Verizon for both technical and business practices. The real future lies with 4G development anyway.

  • Sudden Internet throughput problem

My home network is exhibiting a sudden and spectacular internet throughput problem.  (Think speeds from the 1980's).  We have an airport extreme 4th generation on Ver 7.6.1 firmware.  Additionally, we have a LINKSYS modem.  We have been able to isolate the throughput problem to the Airport as connectivity/throughput is fine with the LINKSYS.  The problem exists with both the wifi and ethernet.
The slowdown was sudden and we can't think of any change such as software update or new device connection that is associated in time with this symptom.   The airport has been working find for a couple of years.  Any help with further troubleshooting would be appreciated.

I am getting mighty confused, not to say perplexed!!
I just turned off WiFi (data was already off). Device Monitor shows WiFi usage at zero, and decreased CPU usage (from 45% to 16%), but System is still at 42%, plus or minus, and battery usage HAS INCREASED (from 10% up to 12%). Battery still straight-lining to dead.
What the hell is going on??
(Does BlackBerry have any staff techie monitoring this Group? If so, SPEAK UP!)

  • RG54G2 Wireless Router Internet Connection Problem

    Hi,
(apologies for the long message - trying to cover all details - summary: wireless router often drops internet connection)
I recently bought an RG54G2 Wireless Router, a CB54G2 PCMCIA Wireless card and a D-Link GWL-630 PCMCIA Wireless card.  In addition to two laptops connected to the wireless router WLAN, I have two PCs (one Win WP Pro SP 1 and one Win98SE) connected to the router via wired LAN.  I also have a SurfBoard SB3100 Cable Modem connected to the WAN port (this connects to my ISP -  Optusnet (Australia) via DHCP).
The problem I have is that the internet connection is disconnected many times a day (often every few minutes, sometimes an hour or so).  I am able to reconnect by resetting the wireless router via the wireless router configuration page.  When the internet is disconnected I am still able to access the computers on the LAN/WLAN (via Windows Explorer and Ping), I am also able to ping the router and the Cable Modem, but nothing outside of the cable modem.
Also, when the internet is disconnected the System Status page indicates that the router is still connected to the internet, and the Diagnostics page passes the Test Connection test, though no external pings work.
I did not have this problem when the cable modem was connected directly to the Win98SE PC (and other PCs via ICS).
I have disabled the WLAN and the problem still exists with only the wired LAN.
I have changed numerous settings in the wireless router config page with no success (eg disabling DHCP and setting each IP address, minimising LAN and WLAN speeds to 10 and 11MBps plus others).
I have upgraded the wireless router firmware to R1.0.6.0 (no change to the problem).
Searching on Google I have found several other cases of routers with unstable internet connections (none refering to the MSI routers), but none had solutions that helped my situation (most replies suggested updating the firmware).
Any suggestions of how to make the router internet connection stable?
    Thanks,
    Mike

maybe this is the FIX 4 wireles router internet connection problem
please let me know if any one fix the problem with this tips
    thankz

Subject: SOLUTION to my router loosing connection to Windows XP
Reply | Reply to Author | Forward | Print | Individual Message | Show original | Report Abuse
I am happy to report that after 8 days of constant battles, reboots, phone
calls, cable pulling, router changing, it seems that I finally have found a
combination that has had me using Verizon DSL account for over 12 hours so
far without any kind of interruptions.
Since so many of you tried giving me comments and suggestions, I felt that
it is necessary for me to post this here so that the next person will not
(hopefully) need to go through this hell as I did!
My original problem was that when after I purchased a D-Link Wireless Router
DI-624, I would get disconnected from Verizon DSL at least once every 2
hours or so. My internet access would "freeze" and then a little popup box
at the bottom right system tray would tell me that the "LAN cable has been
unplugged".   After about a minute or so, my internet connection would be
back working   This was NEVER happening during the 2+ years I was using my
Westell modem alone (running in router mode).
Please keep in mind: The problem I was having was not wireless related as
it was happening to the desktop computer to which the router/westell was
    connected to!
During these last 8 days, I tried: one DI-624 wireless router, two Netgear
614v3 routers and two Linksys WRT54G v.2 routers. In addition, I received a
brand new Westell 2200 modem from Verizon.   I also tried about four
different CAT-5 cables. Here is the final outcome:
I have the Linksys WRT54G (version 2) wireless router connected to the
Netgear Fast Ethernet FA310TX network card in Auto-Sense mode (using the
built-in XP drivers, as Netgear told me that there was never a newer
revision released). I have DISABLED the built-in 3Com Gigabit LOM (3C940)
network card (via the ASUS P4C800 Deluxe motherboard BIOS), DISABLED the
Zero Wireless Configuration service, and have put in the IP/Gateway/DNS
address numbers inside my Windows XP Network Connections | LAN setup. My
operating system is Windows XP Pro SP1 and the modem is a Westell 2200
    configured as bridge only.
If my situation continues to be stable, I *might* try to go back to the 3Com
built-in card (disable any power management) and then re-enabling the Zero
Wireless Configuration services. But in reality, I am happy with the way
things are and have already spent enough time trying to get my router to
work with Verizon DSL without having it drop connections!
Now, the next step will be setting up the WIRELESS part of this. I don't
even yet have a laptop with me on the premises, but the 802.11g card that I
already have is the D-Link DWL-G650. I hope and assume that this will work
    okay with the Linksys...
One thing I must say is that I never realized that how many problems other
users are having. I would have thought that since 802.11x has been around
in the mainstream by now 2+ years, that things would have been much more
"system friendlier".   And again, my issues were not even WIRELESS related.
All 3 tech supports were not really helpful, as none of them realized that
the problem is somehow between the router and Windows XP (Ethernet card?)
loosing a connection, which of course results in Verizon DSL loosing the
    connection also.
One other comment about the Netgear 614 v.3 router: A number of people have
responded to tell me that they have had this random "router resetting"
happen to them (where the routers behaves as if someone turned the power off
and then back on, and the lights flash) just as if you first turn it on). I
was lucky to witness it myself during one of the "disconnects" that I had.
This was actually the reason why I went back to try the Linksys one more
time. So, I would definitely recommend staying way from this 614 (version
    3) model.
Once again - THANK YOU everyone!

  • Help needed with missing data problem in CRVS2010

We recently upgraded the reporting engine in our product to use Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 (previously engine was CR9). Our quote report, which has numerous subreports and lots of conditional formatting, started losing data when a quote took more than a single page to be printed. We knew the SQL results included the data, but the report was not printing those lines at all or sometimes printing a partial line. In addition, the running total on the report would exclude the lines that were being missed on the next page. In one example submitted by a customer, 3 lines were skipped between pages.
I think I have identified two potential issues that document the possibility of data not being included in the report.
The first potential issue is an issue with the "suppress blank section" option being checked. This issue is supposedly fixed with ADAPT01483793, being released someday with service pack 2 for CRVS2010.
The second potential issue is using shared variables. This issue is supposedly fixed with ADAPT01484308, also targeted for SP2.
Our quote report does not explicitly use shared variables with any of the subreports, but it does have several subreports, each in its own section that has the "supress blank section" option checked. We have other reports that use this feature, as well, and they are not exhibiting the problem.
One different thing about the quote report is that it has a section with multiple suppression options selected. The section has a conditional suppression formula, which controls whether the section is included at all within the report. The section also has the suppress blank section option selected. There are multiple fields within the report that are each conditionally suppressed. In theory, the section's suppress formula could evaluate to true, yet all of the fields within the section are suppressed (due to null values), and then the "suppress blank section" option would kick in.
The missing data only seems to happen when the section is not being suppressed, and at least one of the fields is being included in the report. If I clear the "suppress blank section" check box, and change the section formula to also include the rules applied to the fields in the section, the missing data problem seems to be resolved.
Is this related to ADAPT01483793? Will it be fixed in service pack 2?
If more details are needed, I would be happy to provide a sample report with stored data.

    Hi Don,
Have a look at the Record Selection formula in CR Designer ( stand alone ) and when exported to RPT format opening that report in the Designer also.
There's been a few issues with => logic in the record selection formula. It could be you are running into this problem. Look for NOT inserted into your selection formula.
Oh and SP2 is coming out shortly so it may resolve the issue. But if you want you could purchase a support, or if you have a support contract then create a case in SMP and get a rep to work with you to debug the issue.
If you have not try the Trial Version of CR 2011, put it on a VM-ware image or Test PC so you don't corrupt anything for production and have a look at and test it in that designer also. If you purchase a case and it is a bug then you'll get a credit back for the case.
