Internet Explorer Close Button

I have written an application and within that app I have popup pages. On my popup pages, I have a close button that clears the cache on that page and closes the window. I am having issues now because users are using the IE close button instead of the close button in my app. Therefore, my clear cache and other processes attached to my close button are not running. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hey J Lee, did you ever find a workaround to this problem? I'm doing something similar and the cached values were appearing. I called my popup window using the &SESSION. substitution originally. When I removed this parameter, the page loads slower but uses the values I wanted.
Hopefully this helps someone. Although, I just took another look at the last post date and it's 2006. Oh well, I've typed it now.

Internet Explorer CLOSE Button for OBPM 10GR3 Presentations

Hi all,
I am using OBPM 10GR3 presentations with a POPUP window.
I already have a close button to close the presentation. This is a Global Interactive Activity which displays the dashboards.
The Global Interactive Activity contains a screenflow and inside the screenflow I have a Interactive Component Call to call the presentation.
Now the presentation opens smoothly and everything is displayed.. When we hit the CLOSE button everything goes away and when we open it again it again comes back to the previous Interactive Component Call and restarts.
BUT
When we Close the window itself instead of using the CLOSE button of the presentations, and we re-open, we get the previous data.
This is because we do not hit the CLOSE button of the presentation instead hit the IE WINDOW CLOSE button on the top right hand corner besides the minimize maximize button.
Therefore the call is still inside the screenflow inside the Global Interactive Activity and therefore it waits for the user to hit the CLOSE button of the presentations otherwise does not close.
How can we resolve this issue?
How can we make sure, that if the user closes the IE WINDOW itself using the CLOSE button, it closes the presentation itself and when re-opened displays the previous presentation?

First of all this is a training issue with the user. It is not advisable not to press the close button of the IE.
Nevertheles you can disable to close button of the presentaion.
You can remove the x from dialogs by doing this. Open the executionDialog.xhtml file in the <OraBPMEnterpriseHomeDirectory>\webapps\workspace\jsf\common directory (both Studio and Enterprise have this file).
Change the text on line 81 from this:

This change does a couple things. The addition of the text "displayCloseButton="false"" removes the x button that is causing the undesired results you're getting and setting the colors to #FFFFFF changes the light blue border around dialog boxes to white.

History problem in jsp page,internet explorer back button

hi everyone
i have a jsp page suppose a.jsp.in which i am using dropdown menu to displays:list of data from database,one submit button i am using name select and click here.after selecting the value from dropdown menu ,again some other data will be displayed from some other table in same a.jsp page.
my problem is:
when user selects one value from drop down menu ,it is diplaying the value in same page .upto here is ok
and i click back button from I.E only one page back it is showing
but when user select the value form drop down menu 2nd time ,and after data get dipalyed in same apge a.jsp.then
whne i click back button ,now it is showing two a.jsp page .history is not going .
this is the problem.i dont want to this morw than one page get displayed in back button.only one page a.jsp

1. one page called a.jsp.this page contains one drop drown menu list box ,and one submit button.
2.data in drop dropdown is coming from db.as the user select value from drop down box .relalted value is diplayed on same a.jsp page.
3.again user select the 2ndvalue from drop down box ,related value is displayed.
this i explained about my a.jsp page.
problem is
4.when user select the 1st value and clcik on submit button related value is displaying.upto here its ok.and in back button of Internet explorer it is showing only one a.jsp page
5.but whenever i am trying to see 2nd or 3rd or more value from drop down after related value is being diplayed in same a.jsp page.

Why does internet explorer close when i try to download itunes?

i just want to download i tunes to my windows 7 PC i have tried chrome and internet explorer, ive done multiple troubleshooting exercises and absolutly nothing is working. please help!

Yes, I would use the import utility built into Windows to import the photos. The crash for Explorer would be in the Windows log file, but it should have immediately restarted. Using Explorer to get photos out of the iPhone is not usually the best way to do it, as you have the opportunity to mess up file structure and can corrupt photo files.

Internet Explorer closes, no event, no log, no crash.

I have tried everything to find out what is causing this. But site wide we have IE 10 just closing for no reason. We cannot migrate to 11, due to vendor application requirements.
I have tried the following;
Updated Java
Updated Flash Player
Uninstalled Flash Player and Java
Deployed fresh, out of the box, systems
Fresh install of vendor programs
Rolled back Flash Player to earlier version
Nothing stops this. This affects all users, across multiple sites, in different cities (26mi apart)
I am at the limit of my ability to diagnose and resolve this issue, and I have no one above me to turn to.
Does anyone have any ideas on where to go from here? I am in desperate need of help.

How to disable close button during runtime

Hi everybody.,
Please help me how to disable the close button at top of the window during runtime. I dont want the user to use that button to close. I have used button called Exit in that form but sometimes users closing by clicking that button.
I am using Oracle form 10g R1.

While running the form, in window there will be two close button, one is in form and another one is in Internet Explorer. By making changes on the property what you said above this will hide only the form's close button. I want to hide the internet explorer close button also.

Hi,
you can create a WHEN-WINDOW-CLOSED Trigger, in which you ask the user whether he/she wants to save or rollback the work.
The only thing is that this trigger does not respond to the "x" of the internet explorer, but it responds to pressing the "x" of your Forms window.
Try looking at Windows options.

No Audio in internet explorer, captivate playbar close button not working

I did a simulation video in adobe captivate 5.5, on uploading it to Netdimension s LMS, the course plays audio via firefox but wont play audio from Internet explorer.
Also Firefox autoresumes from where the user last stops but won't in Internet explorer. Also the exit button in my captivate playbar doesnt work neither in my internet explorer browser nor firefox.
I also noticed that the LMS didnt mark the course completed after taking all the slides.
Please help!

My guess is that you are opening those from version 3 in a different manner than you are the version 4 sims. As I understand it (and as explained in the link) the ability to close a window is dependent on the browser as well as the manner in which the window was opened to begin with.
I suggest you begin by scrutinizing what is different about the version 3 files that you are seeing. Where are you running them from? How are you displaying them?

A problem with this webpage caused Internet Explorer (IE9) to close and reopen the tab

I have IE9 (using 32-bit version) installed on a relatively new laptop with Windows 7 64-bit. Up until last weekend IE9 worked fine and Flash Player worked fine too.
At the weekend a webpage asked for Flash Player to be updated - which I did. Ever since then whenever I go to a webpage needing Flash Player I get the message "A problem with this webpage caused Internet Explorer to close and reopen the tab". This happens twice and then an IE9 error page.
I have read the discussions in here about the problems with Flash Player 10.3 and have tried the various solutions. I have updated to 10.3.181.16 having tried 15 and 14 previously. Same problem.
I have reset IE9. Same problem.
I have disabled all add-ons which stops the problem. If I enable just the Flash Player add-on then the problem recurs. Since there are so many webpages that use Flash I do not want to run my browser without this add-on running.
If I enable the add-on and run IE9 using software rendering instead of GPU rendering then I don't get the problem. However, this isn't exactly making the best use of the resources on my laptop.
This may well all be related to the 10.3 problems but no one seems to have mentioned having a problem with tabs closing and reopening so I thought I would post on here to check.
Any suggestions for how to solve this (other than using software rendering)?

I think, however, you misunderstand the problem. IE9 does not reopen the tabs on just one website - it is doing this on every website that needs Flash Player. Therefore, running in Compatibility mode is not an option. In fact, because IE9 reopens the tabs so quickly and then ends up with an error page, I cannot even click the Compatibility button anyway.
I could use ActiveX filtering - true. All that this means is that Flash does not play on any of the websites. When I want to re-enable ActiveX for a particular website where I need to see the Flash Player item, this just triggers the error.
This problem also happened on .14, .15 and well as the current .16 version. It did not happen with the previous version of Flash Player that I had on the system (version 10.2 I think).
The fact is that either Flash Player or IE9 or both is/are broken. The two choices I am still left with are:
1. Use software rendering (which contradicts the latest advertisements for IE9 about unleashing the power of IE)
2. Use another browser - I have no problems with either Firefox or Chrome

Can't install itunes, closes internet explorer

I have just got a new computer it is a Compaq laptop and it meets way over the requirements. I am trying to download itunes to it so I can transfer my music from my desktop to my laptop and when i click on the download now button for itunes it closes out internet explorer and tells me there is a problem that is causing the program to not run correctly, but it will not tell me the problem. PLEASE help!

Create a file called close.html
Add in some java script to close a window
e.g.
window.close

Internet Explorer JApplet hang close intermittent jre 1.4.1

I've browsed several similar topics here. So let me add my problem.
The environment is Internet Explorer 6.0 and the JRE release is 1.4.1. I have an applet that will either put up a JDialog subclass or an instance of a JOptionPane (for errors and warnings). Sometimes the browser closes fine on close (x button in top right of frame). Sometimes it hangs. I am not sure if destroy is ever getting invoked when it hangs as I tried putting a System.out.println() in and never saw the output. When it closes properly I do briefly see the outputs in the jre plugin window. Another similarity to other posts is this applet uses sockets (mySQL) and the destroy method is where I close the connection. Other posts claim using sockets for one thing or another, so that may be a culprit. Oddly, I have not seen posts that reference previous versions of the JRE so I am guessing maybe it's a problem with the 1.4.1 JRE? It's a wild shot but I am trying to ascertain commonality amoung all the similar posts. There doesn't seem to be a difference in being a signed jar or not. I can supply further info to anyone who might have an idea. Also, I can not reliably reproduce.

Maybe the problem with the applet is that you are using the same instances of JPanels and JComponents in the Applet each time you intialize it. I had this problem, because I was reusing the panels to reduce the load time to generate them, but the problem was that when I did this, I couldn't write in a JTextField of this panels, and when I try to close the IE window after trying to write in a JTextField, the IE crashed.
Maybe it isn't your problem, but it may help.

How do you get Internet Explorer 9 from shutting down while trying to print from Smart Print button?

I'm using Internet Explorer 9, and have the latest Smart Print button on my Bing Bar. When I click on Smart Print to print a page, it lets me go through the entire process of choosing what I want to print, and lets me click on print, which brings me to the print options, but when I click on the final print button, I get a Microsoft error message saying "Internet Explorer has stopped working" message and it closes down my opened page. How do I print if I keep getting this message?
