Internet radio on iTunes 7.7.1

All of a sudden my iTunes 7.7.1 won't play any of the streams under "radio."  When I click on the name of any of the categories, I get a dialog box that states that iTunes could not establish a network connection and that I should check my Internet connection.   Well, I do not believe that there is any problem with my Internet connection, because the streams that I have saved under the "music" menu of iTunes work nominally.
I have checked the QuickTime settings in System Preferences.  I do not see there anything that would limit the "radio" streams but not the "music" streams.   The "radio" streams have worked in the past.  I am not aware of having changed any settings anywhere, and that possibility seems unlikely, because the problem occurs in the accounts of both administrators.
Any guesses?

I'm presuming you want to play a stream not listed in the iTunes Tuner (the Radio section). There are two different ways, though, to add streaming stations to iTunes depending on whether you know the direct URL to the stream or are adding a link from a broadcaster.
If you have the direct URL (and it needs to be the URL directly to the stream, not a link to a web page), in iTunes go to 'Advanced' and then 'Open Stream'. Enter or paste the url and the station will begin playing. The stream will then be in your library and you can, if you wish, drag it to a playlist.
To add a playlist from a broadcaster such as Live365, go to the broadcaster and select the station you want. The playlist (a .pls file) should download to your system. If the station does not begin to play in iTunes automatically, double-click or drag and drop the .pls file into the iTunes library window and the playlist's stream will be added to your Library. Again, once in the library you can drag it to your own playlist if you wish.

this issue just arose over the last month or so and no changes have been made to my bandwidth.
    Except for the following possibiblites:
Your bandwidth might be being throttled by your internet provider.
Your internet may have a fault.
Perhaps your Wi-Fi security has been breached by someone nearby.
Perhaps the other services (Grooveshark and Spotify) use a lower bandwith (I don't know).
For numbers 1 & 2, try a speed check to see if your internet connection is as fast as it's supposed to be.
For number 3, change your password to your Wi-Fi.
For number 4, check the Bit Rate of each stream.
On the other hand, if this new information that you added is fact ( it actually occurs if I even listen to music from my iTunes library, not just internet radio ), then perhaps iTunes is at fault and the best fix may be to repair iTunes.
To repair iTunes, download the iTunes installer and when you run it, use the Repair option.

  • How to set up an internet radio with itunes?

I want to set up an internet radio so that when I play musics from itunes, my friends could share to enjoy. I guess this needs to stream from itunes and then broadcast. Nicecast would do the job. But it is not free. Is there another solution? Thanks.

Nicecast is only $40. I use it and it is very easy to use once set up. A few years ago I saw a Quicktime Broadcaster but I never investigated that. It might still exist.
But I would recommend Nicecast. It works right on your computer and depending on your upload capacity you can handle 5-10 listeners.

  • Internet radio thru   iTunes to speakers connected to Express

I want to listen to Internet radio on a remote amplified speaker.
So how do I create the following topology?
    Online radio(MP3)--internet--ethernet--MAC(itunes)--Express--speaker
I can play the radio(MP3) on the MAC local speakers.
When I tell iTunes to select the Express I loose the ethernet connection to the radio.

To set up AirTunes on the AirPort Express Base Station (AX), using the AirPort Admin Utility, connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then, try these settings:
    AirPort tab
    - Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
    - Wireless Mode: Join an Existing Wireless Network (Wireless Client)
    - Wireless Network: <select the existing wireless network>
    Music tab
    - Enable AirTunes on this base station (checked)
    - Enable AirTunes over the Ethernet port (optional)
    - iTunes Speaker Name: <whatever you wish>
    - iTunes Speaker Password (optional)
    In iTunes:
    iTunes > Preferences... > Advanced > General
    - Look for remote speakers connected with AirTunes (checked)

  • How to listen to internet radio using iTunes

Before I upgraded I used to be able to go to a list of radio stations all over the country to listen to local news but cannot do so anymore. How do I find such using the new version of  iTunes

Theproblem is there is no such option as you suggest. Look at the attached screen shot to see what I see when I have the iTunes app open. There is no option to click on Internet!!!

  • How can I connect to internet radio in itunes 11.0.1.12?

Other answers refer to a radio button next to 'playlists' when 'music' is selected in the library but this doesn't appear on my itunes.

I'm still not sure what this option (to shuffle a Playlist and then Sync that to the iPod) was or where it was in iTunes 10. This is despite your question having been raised by other people.
Surely, since you can shuffle a Playlist on an iPod, it's not necessary to shuffle it before Syncing, is it?

  • Where did the current song listing go for iTunes Internet Radio?

I listen to internet radio on iTunes all the time, and I always loved being able to check the title and artist of whatever song was playing.  I just upgraded my iTunes to 11.1.3(8) and now the internet radio no longer shows me the title & artist of the current song.  Is there a way get that feature back?

Thank you Frederick! Now, a further question: for example under classic rock it shows 383 threads but in the list there are only 11 showing up. The stations I like to listen to are missing. Any light to shed? Thanks, Mark

  • How do I permanently fix a URL in Internet Radio?

I have iTunes v.12.0.1, running on an iMac under Mavericks. I listen to streamed radio (hitherto via a different player on a Windows machine) and have its URL to hand. How, in iTunes on the Mac do I permanently fix the URL in Internet Radio, so that whenever I open iTunes on the Mac, it'll automatically open to that station?
The station isn't one that's included in the built-in genre list but, using the URL that I have, I'm able to get the station and to listen for the requisite session. However, once I close Internet Radio and iTunes the URL is lost and I then have to re-insert it to get the station again. Also, each time, I find that the built-in list of stations always displays, and I can't seem to get rid of the list.
So, how do I, in effect, permanently store the URL and the configuration? It's totally different in this version of iTunes Player to what I've hitherto been used to. Somehow, I need to get the URL and other settings put away into a library or some other folder, either within iTunes itself (which has been the case hitherto) or maybe somewhere else on the Mac. I've looked around the menu settings of iTunes but can't find anything that'll do this.

this made my day I got this iTunes Card Code totally free! If you want one go to http://linkbitty.com/freeitunes2014

I am trying to listen Internet Radio using iTunes in my Windows pc. But, when select a station gets a new window "Opening URL" with the message "connecting..." and stays like that forever. How can I fix that conection?

it may use Flash which is not yet available for the iPhone....
...it possibly could be available soon through the new AppStore...but no one really knows for sure....Adobe, maker of Flash, has said they are in the works trying to develop an application for the iPhone, but not much more info has come out since

  • I Get an Error "To Access Your iTunes Library ..." And Other Things Are Wonky Too ... Can't Reset ... Internet Radio Drops ... But Things Look To Be Set Up Okay

When I use my Apple TV and try to play music from my computer I get an error: "To access your iTunes library on Apple TV, turn on Home Sharing in iTunes on your computer using 'myname'"
On my computer n iTunes Preferences / Sharing I have the "Share my library on my local network" checked with "Share entire library" -- no password, no update play counts.  I've turned it off and on again.
The Apple TV settings show we are "talking to" my WIFI -- it has my network, shows a good signal strenght, all sorts of internet addresses and IP stuff I don't understand ...
The "Internet" tab works with some of those things I'd never use -- like I see the current NHL standings.
My TV works and I get an ATV signal and those little chimes / bongs when I hit things in the menu.  And when it works I get audio so the cables and TV are okay.
In the past I had trouble with the settings for my favourite Internet Radio stations (the provider changed their URL but Apple didn't update the presets for a while) but those are now resolved.
I had a crappy old G class router and week signal strenght but I have a new N class Cisco router with a strong signal.
    But other things are wonky:
    * I play interent radio and my station will go fine for about five minutes then stop -- the little wheel spins trying to reconnect.  Sometimes it resets but more often than not it won't.  I just tried again four hours later and the same thing.
    * I've unplugged the ATV and plugged it back in but no noticable improvement
    * I tried to do the factory reset from the ATV menu.  It says it will download the latest bla bla bla and after a few minutes tells me "Apple TV can't download latest update right now, try again later" -- I've tried three times today always with the same results.
    * I unhooked it from the power and HDMI and plugged it into a Micro USB cable and plugged that into my Mac -- it doesn't show up in the devices in iTunes.
    * I have a bunch of photos in a folder that I use for my ATV Screen Saver.  A few weeks ago I added two photos to that folder -- they don't show up in the ATV screen show but the others still do.
    * When I started today I checked my iTunes and the airplay icon didn't show in the bottom right (beside the genious icon and the little thing to show or hide the sidebar).  Now I noticed the Airplay icon is there.  When I try to switch from playing through my computer speaakers to my Apple TV I get an error "An unknown error (-15006) occurred while connecting to the Airplay device "Apple TV"" -- the ATV shows that Airplay is on.
    * I see from the ATV settings that I'm running ATV Software 4.4.3 (3323) and when I do a "Update Software" on the ATV it tells me that my software is current.
    * My iTunes is 10.5.2 (11) and my OS is 10.6.8 -- both are up to date.
    Yikes and double yikes!
    Any ideas?

    Hey Chunk,
I love the idea of the ATV more than I have loved the little black box but ... famous last words ... my ATV seems to be working better these days.
A big challenge for me was too many variables at play -- new router, new ATV OS / firmware / whatever, changing internet radio presets, a less than perfect physical set up ... and a short attention span from yours truly.
Here's what I did.  Somwhere in these changes things got "fixed."
    * I unhooked the ATV and did a factory restore by hard wiring the ATV to my computer with a micro USB cable (no external power needed) working through iTunes (I run iTunes 10.5.2 on an iMac with OS X 10.6.8).
    * after the reset I now have ATV (is that an operating system or a firmware?) 4.4.4
    * then I plugged it back into my home theatre and it didn't work :-) but in slightly different ways.  The settings showed that I was connected to my home network but I couln't get connected using my Apple ID and no internet radio.  (it is often counterintuitive -- like why when I want my ATV to talk to my iMac over my local network am I logging in to the iTnes Store with my Apple ID? but there you go.)
    * I booked with the genius bar at the Apple Store and put my ATV in my pocket.  They pulled out a TV, HDMI cable, ATV power source and even the remote -- all I provided was my little black ATV.  We hooked the ATV to their TV and from the Apple Store (using thier WIFI) I logged in using my Apple ID and the thing worked fine.
    * so now I knew that my ATV was up to date and it worked in the Apple Store using their network so it looked like the issue was my network.
    * rebooted my router and noticed that when I had upgraded to the new super dooper Cisco n router we had plugged my iMac direct to the router via ethernet cable.  I unhooked the ethernet and now just run my computer WIFI using AirPort.
    And ...
It works.  I use my ATV exclusivly for music -- my iTunes and internet radio and AirPlay -- and now both work fine.  The ATV does pick up photos from my iPhoto for the screen saver and all that other stuff -- netflix, youtube, the hockey scores, ... all seem to be there.  And my son played a video off his iPod Touch using AirPlay.
I know my approach is more scattered than a proper scientific try but ...
From my experience ... reset the ATV and get it up to date; see if it will work on someone else's network; check your network set up.
    Good luck!

  • How do I access internet radio stations in iTunes 11

In the previous version of itunes, you could listen to internet radio.  In the new version this seems to have been eliminated on the ipad.  Is that correct, or maybe I just can't find it.

There was never Internet radio on the iPad. Now there is iTunes Radio but it is only available in the. U.S. at this time.

  • Is it possible to create a link that I can place on a website to an internet radio stream on iTunes?

Is it possible to create a link that I can place on a website to an internet radio stream on iTunes?

Yes, but it WON'T play through the browser. It'll require any visitor who clicks it to have iTunes installed, and it'll open iTunes as soon as they do.

  • I can no longer connect to itunes store ot internet radio

I can no longer connect to the itunes store or internet radio.  Internet connection is OK.  Everything used to work just fine.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes a couple of times with no luck.  Itunes itself works fine.  My download speed is around 20 Mbps.  Why would Itunes radio suddenly be inaccessible?

Maybe check you are logged into your Apple ID.
