Internet Security Zone Settings - Computer or User?

I've seen it in both places USER and COMPUTER; but what do YOU
say? Is there a "best practices" that someone can point to that explains the advantages/disadvantages of either?

Hi,
It is better to go with computer configuration option as it will not impact user logons.

  • Security Zone Settings

    Hi,
I cannot use the internet because I keep getting a box that says Your Security Zone Settings do not allow you to send HTML Forms. Does this mean that I have to upgrade my software?
    Thanks.

    Hi Shirley,
I don't know Internet Explorer, but it seems it is the browser you are using?
    If so,
this would just be a setting you'd have to change in its preferences or whatever it's called in this browser.

  • IE 11 Internet Security Zone Protected Mode Problem

    Hi All
We have a couple of random issues using IE 11 and was wondering if someone could shed a little light on it.
I think it boils down to an issue of the running of java but it's hard to pinpoint.
An example of the issue is present the below Technet article, it has expansion arrows on the left of the text that allow you to expand and collapse articles, this work in older version on IE and also other browsers, however in IE 11 they do not work until
you uncheck protected mode from the Internet Security Zone:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398125.aspx
If left checked these not work, this issue manifests itself in various different ways depending on the site but the above is the clearest example. Scripting of Java applets is enabled as part of the default Medium-High setting.

    Hi,
regardless, click the "Reset all zones to default" button... by default only sites in the RESTRICTED zone will have ActiveScripting (javascript) disabled.
I would expect it to be in the Internet zone... Are you MSFT? Intranet sites are usually detected automatically. It is uncommon to have a public access website listed in your Intranet zone sites list. If so please contact your system administrators.
or check if its in your list or applied by your network administrators.
Internet Options>Security tab, Local Intranet zone button, Sites button, Advanced... If its in your list, remove it... if its not in your list consult your system administrators....(it is not visible to you if they (the system administrators) have placed
    it there.
Commonly....sites like TechNet or MSDN may be added to the TRUSTED sites lists.. On server versions of IE, Microsoft.com is placed in the TRUSTED sites list... Server versions of windows have a higher security, and MS.com is placed in the
On private computers there is little need to place sites in any security zone.... they will map automatically to the internet zone. Placing sites in the Trusted zone actually DECREASES the site security... hence you have to TRUST them first before putting
them into a lower security zone.

  • Secure Zone login form logs user in who isn't registered for it?!

I have a client who runs an eCommerce site through BC.  We have a secure zone setup for his site and he wants to review and approve users before they are given access.  There is good reason for this so please don't bring up counter-points as it is non-negotiable.
Anyway, the secure zone registration form basicly creates a user CRM record and allows them to select a username and password.  I've instructed to client to continue into the CRM and select the checkbox next to the appropriate secure zone in order to authorize the account to login.  As far as we know this has been working until yesterday.  Now, when somebody who has an account but it is not approved yet tries to login, they receive the form error as to be expected.  However they get logged into some phantom secure zone.
I say "phantom" zone because the actual registration form doesn't subscribe them to a secure zone, it's manual (as previously stated).  This is a pretty big issue as a major reason for doing this is that my client doesn't want his prices visible to the public.  Only after the person is in the secure zone are prices visible.  Any help would be much appreciated.  I know BC launched a new update recently which my be a contributing factor....thanks in advance!

    Hi Mike,
This has always been the case.
IF you have a username and password and login to a site you are logged in. You may very well not be part of a securezone but you are logged in. This is why hiding and showing content soley based on the isloggedin module is a very thoughtful process as you can not show content based on this knowledge.
This has nothing to do with the update, you probably only just noticed this behavior but this has been the case since BC born.

  • Is there a way to make secure zone content unique for user?

Hi, we have a client who wants to have a secure zone on their site which will allow them to upload images and notify the user, so that when they login they will see their particular images (in a gallery with lightbox etc) but other secure zone users cannot see their images, they will only see their own images.
I am looking at a combination of secure zone/web app/image gallery functionaity but cannot work out if this is even feasible (without some had core scripting).
Does anyone know how we can set this up?
    Cheers
    Cam

    Hi,
You can do this via web-apps (placed inside a secure zone). A webapp can be customized to allow users to add and edit their submissions, can be integrated with google maps, can have expiry dates, can require payments, etc. Here's a complete reference: http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/topics/web-apps.html

  • Internet Security Settings in Windows 7

I am running Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 11. I am trying to find a listing of the recommended settings for the Security section under Internet Properties. I have found several listings for the Advanced section, but not Security.
Can anyone guide me to a listing like this or a website that gives specific details about what each setting does or controls so that I can adjust my system correctly. I find that using the Windows 7 factory settings slows the system down somewhat.
    Thank you

    Hi,
It sounds like you want to disable ActiveX content (flash) or you have an errant COM browser Addon.
or you have a long list of domains in your Trusted Sites zone.
Changing the default IE security zone settings is not recommended.
Legacy anti-spyware like Spybot S&d or the MVP hosts lists are no longer required and long Trusted Sites lists are known to slow performance.
SmartScreen Filter or your AV product include listings of known 'bad' domains.
You can find the latest listing here -
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/182569
tools>activeX filtering to toggle site ActiveX filtering.
Internet Options>Advanced tab, uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions" (Close and restart IE for the full changes to take affect) to disable COM Toolbars and BHO's.
Check for updates to your AV program and run a scan to identify any malware that you may have installed.

  • Internet Security: Linux in Fusion

I have Intego Internet Security Barrier for OS X and Bitdefender for Windows in Boot Camp and I hope Fusion.
I also have Linux installed an a Fusion virtual machine. I know Linux has a generally good security rputation but am not familiar with Linux enough to know what is normal.
Is there a need to protect the Linux installation or is it protected already by the Intego Internet Security Barrier? If not what are advisable options?

  • Think it is about time to get internet security for new iMac. appreciate recommendation of product

am interested in getting security for my imac g5. dont know of a good product. Have eset on my pc's is highly rated.

There are many forms of ‘Malware’ that can affect a computer system, of which ‘a virus’ is but one type, ‘trojans’ another. Using the strict definition of a computer virus, no viruses that can attack OS X have so far been detected 'in the wild', i.e. in anything other than laboratory conditions. The same is not true of other forms of malware, such as Trojans. Whilst it is a fairly safe bet that your Mac will NOT be infected by a virus, it may have other security-related problem, but more likely a technical problem unrelated to any malware threat.

For the username that you are using to login, have you made sure that user is subscribed to your secure zone?  Find the customer record associated with that username in the BC Admin area at CRM > Customers and search for that customer.  When you are on their customer record, goto the Subscriptions tab and make sure they are subscribed to that secure zone.
If that's ok-- goto your secure zone settings at Site Manager > Secure Zones and choose your secure zone and click the Details tab. Make sure the page you are using for the "Landing page" is also set as a secure page.  Goto the "Secured Content" tab and make sure that the page you are using as the landing page is on the right side of that list-- if it's not there you can move it from the left to the right to make it secure.

  • GPO Security Zones and Content Ratings "Modify Settings" buttons are disabled

Task: Trying to modify a GPO so that specific users who logon to Remote Desktop Servers will have a lower Internet security level for Internet Explorer.
We have two Windows Server 2008 Domain Controllers, when I access the GPO using the Group Policy Management Console and Editor on either of the two Domain Controllers, then navigate to User Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Internet Explorer
Maintenance > Security > Security Zones and Content Ratings, the available "Modify Settings" buttons are both disabled.
I've read through several forum posts relating to this and the closest solution mentioned was to turn off IE ESC for Administrators on both Domain Controllers. I've done this and it nothing has changed as a result. Is there a way enable the "Modify Settings"
buttons, or is there another way to achieve the task mentioned at the top of this post?

    Hi,
We need to import these settings before we modify them.
To import security zones and privacy settings from our computer using IEM:
    Click
Import the current security zones and privacy settings
To import content ratings from our computer:
    Click
Import the current Content Ratings settings
