"invalid directory" error. SOS

My JDK1.3.1 is working fine when I compile my programs using Kawa editor. But when I try to get in to enter into the jdk1.3.1 directory in my DOS shell, I get a message "invalid directory" , and returns to the c:\ prompt. Why is that so??
Fyi, I have also installed j2sdkee1.3 and also javawebserver 2.0 in c:\.
Someone please help me !!

Yes. I tried checking for the 8 character limit in dos shell. But that's not the case.. coz I am gettin the same error. I am able to explore it using Windows Explorer but not in dos shell. Fyi, I am working on Win 2000. Is there anything that has to do with Administrator right??
Please help me !!

  • Getting Invalid Directory error when saving mailbox edits

I current have two accounts set up for two separate mailboxes (I'm using IMAP) that I had in my old AOL account. • Invalid Directory Error Message when using DOS

I've recently installed version 1.4 SDK on my Windows 95 machine.
When I type cd c:\java in MS DOS at the prompt, I keep getting the message "Invalid Directory" and can't move forward from there to C:\java>.
The SDK is correctly installed on my C: drive, so I don't understand why the directory location isn't understood.
Could it have to do with the PATH? I followed the installation instructions below, but wonder if I need to type SET PATH=...before the text of the suggested PATH statement below.
Windows 98, Windows 95 - To set the PATH permanently, open the AUTOEXEC.BAT file and add or change the PATH statement as follows:
Start the system editor. Choose "Start", "Run" and enter sysedit, then click OK. The system editor starts up with several windows showing. Go to the window that is displaying AUTOEXEC.BAT
Look for the PATH statement. (If you don't have one, add one.) If you're not sure where to add the path, add it to the right end of the PATH. For example, in the following PATH statement, we have added the bin directory at the right end:
    PATH C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\JDK1.4\BIN
Capitalization doesn't matter. The PATH can be a series of directories separated by semi-colons (;). Microsoft Windows searches for programs in the PATH directories in order, from left to right. You should only have one bin directory for a Java SDK in the path at a time (those following the first are ignored), so if one is already present, you can update it to jdk1.4.
To make the path take effect in the current Command Prompt window, execute the following:
    C:> c:\autoexec.bat
To find out the current value of your PATH, to see if it took effect, at the command prompt, type:
    C:> path

I am having the same issue.
At the command prompt, any attempt to enter the "jdk1.3.1" directory returns "invalid directory".
Sadly, your post is old, and noone but me has replied.
Since I'm DOS ignorant, and it is emulated DOS anyway...
I don't know how to resolve this.
Two uninstall/reinstall cycles to try and correct the issue- no dice.
    Responses, please!

  • Invalid directory error

I'm trying to run the sample web applications in sun app server 8. Sample app are located in <appserver root>\samples\webapps\simple\. Appserver root is c:\sun\appserver. I'm unable to go this directory for i'm getting invalid directory when change directory from c:\ to the given directory above. In fact , I'm not able to change directory from C:\Sun to C:\Sun\Appserver. cd command works perfectly with other directory structure in my C drive.
Kindly let me know what would be the problem.

More than likely it is one of the Windows idiosyncrasies, did the problem arise over time or you encountered the problem from the get go? Make sure that the filesystem mounted under c:\ is consistant.

  • Import FMW Security in SampleApp gives "Invalid Directory" error

I am working through the manual for installing and configuring the OBEE 11g SampleApp for Oracle BI Applications.
When I get to the section (2.3.4) for "Import FMW Security Users" I get the following error when saving the path for the FMW_Users_Definition folder. I know that it is correct because I am browsing out to it using Windows Explorer and then copying and pasting it from the Address bar.
I tried using both long and short paths.

    Hi,
We have Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production.
I need to read txt file from db package. File is located on my local machine. I use utl_file package and as I found I need to create a logical directory which points to physical one.
'Create or replace' command doesn't work from my db package, it gives mi ORA-22929. But it works from SQL.
    CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY v_dir AS 'C:\ab\cd';
    GRANT READ ON DIRECTORY v_dir TO PUBLIC;
Even after creating logical directory in ALL_DIRECTORIES table, I'm getting INVALID_PATH error after command:
    srcFile := utl_file.fopen('C:\ab\cd','my.txt', 'R');
where src file is declared as utl_file.file_type.
After reading numerous forums and documentation I couldn't find a solution.
At first, why 'Create or replace' command doesn't work from db package and then how to overcome INVALID_PATH error?
    Any help?
    Tnx,
NatiIn addition to BlueShadow's comments, you need to be aware that the file and directory must exisit on the database server .. or at leas on a directory that is mounted/accessible by the database server.. it won't work if "'C:\ab\cd" is referring to a directory on your workstation and your database is on different machine.

    Hi Adina,
thank you for your answer (questions)!
We use 10.1.3.1 SOA Suite and the default jazn.com Security Provider and what we set at java.naming.security.principal property is oc4jadmin.
It is interesting, we deployed again out EAR and now it works again! There is not Invalid Token Error exception, but we didn't change almost anything...
    Can we debug it somehow?
Where does this bug come from?
    Thanks!

You'll need to create an Oracle Directory object that contains 'C:\SQL' and use that in your UTL_FILE call if you are using a 10g+ version of the database and the UTL_FILE_DIR parameter does not include your path.
    CREATE DIRECTORY my_dir AS 'C:\SQL';
GRANT READ WRITE ON DIRECTORY my_dir TO <user>;You can then use the directory object name in the path of your UTL_FILE call.
ORA-29280: invalid directory path Cause: A corresponding directory object does not exist.
Action: Correct the directory object parameter, or create a corresponding directory object with the CREATE DIRECTORY command.>
    Hope this helps!

  • Invalid Directory Structure Error

So I recently purchased a Panasonic AG-HMC40 and it's my first experience with a non tape camera. When I tried to get the footage onto my computer Final Cut wouldn't recognize it. It worked in iMovie but I would rather not lose quality by transferring it through that first. When I try to open the folder within the log and transfer screen I get an error message that says that it contains unsupported media or "Invalid Directory Structure." I'm on FCP 6.0.5.

    I quite believe it.
Can you exactly describe what you're doing and how FCE behaves?
Do you see a preview of the clips after connecting the camera?
Try to import using iMovie, when this works, it should in FCE somehow, too.
I googled a bit around and found someone having the same problem (but unfortunately in german language).
He has formatted the SD card using the camera, then it worked. But the clips beeing on the SD card before are still lost. But if you backup before, you can convert the .mts files into .mov and then import it into FCE.
Some other possible source of errors:
    - is the HF 100 power cable connected for transfer? (it has to be)
    - did you see the "mode selection" screen when connecting to your Mac?
    - if yes, did you select the "PC mode" there?
    - does the USB port you are using work with other devices?
    - can you try using an SD Card reader instead of the camera?
    - do you see the camera device icon after connecting to your mac?
    - can you try it on another Mac if it works? (if not, it may be a manufacturing issue)
    At moment no more ideas...

  • Imac G5 will not start up correctly? invalid directory count 52 instead of 53

Hi, i have a Imac G5. it had been working fine for many years untill a year or 2 ago when it stopped all of a sudden and just would not start up as it should. instead, it went to this grey screen with horizontal lines. eventually after trying just about every combination of keys held down on startup, the only way i could get the mac to restart was by starting it in safe mode. (at this point i rescued all my photos and music and moved them onto my macbook pro) i thought it was working fine in safe mode untill i realised that it could not connect to the internet, the sound would not work at all, and when i went to preferances it could not find any output device for the sound. it also keeps coming up with a message saying that my internet communication device does not exist. allot of the programs worked fine, such as word, or photoshop, whereas others would not. i verified the disk, and discored that it would not let me repair it.
    Invalid directory count
it should be 53 instead of 52)
    checking attributes file
    checking volume bitmap
    checking volume information
    repaired.",1)
    macintosh hd
error: the underlying task reported failure on exit
    HSF volume checked
    volume needs repair
it then came up with a message saying that he disk utility stopped verifying the macintosh hd because of it reporting the failure on exit.
i have tried doing this a few times but the exact same result is gained
i tryed using disk repair whilst starting up from the original install disk, but this also did not fix the problem. eventually, i decided to reinstall the os x 10.4.11. this had absolutely no effect, and i am at the same point. i would be very gratefull if anybody would be able to come up with any ideas of how i could fix this problem?
additional details: i have tried using the proxy reset
i have also tried running a apple hardware test
i have tried repairing the macintosh hd disk using the original install disks
also: all of the sockets at the back work fine, e.g. usb, but the microphone and headphone sockets do not work.
    it will read disks fine

but this also did not fix the problem. eventually, i decided to reinstall the os x 10.4.11. this had absolutely no effect,
I'd have guess you reformated at that time. The file system is messed up.  You need to reformat.
Format a disk using the installation DVD
To format  the startup drive, you will need to run disk utility from your installation DVD.
This article  will tell you how to get to disk utility.  Once in a disk utility, you can go and format the disk.

What can I do to fix the problem?

well, no, you're not the only one. I just got the BPEL worklist app running, and I have the same error. I've deployed the app on a different server from the bpel / oc4j container, and I'm using the SOAP client. Using wireshark, I can see that the authentication is happening properly - valid requests and responses to the TaskQuery service, but after that I get:

  • Invalid Directory Path

    Hi,
When I execute a procedure as shown below i use to get an error as
    <b> "invalid directory path"</b>
    exec emp_details('c:\emp\test.txt',100);
The first parameter is the the path where file is stored and the other parameter is the emp code.
After executing the procedure the error message is,
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-29280: invalid directory path
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_FILE", line 18
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_FILE", line 424
    ORA-06512: at "emp_details", line 34
    ORA-06512: at line 1
but actually the file is located in the mentioned path but still the error occurs.
Please help me in this regard.

    Hello
Did you create a directory object or are you relying on utl_file_dir?
You may need to upper case the path if you are using a directory object (I think). Also, utl_file.f_open takes in the path AND the file name, not just the file name on it's own. Are you correctly splitting the file name from the path?
It might help if you can show the relevant parts of the procedure that are failing.
    HTH
