Invalid new password (must be no more than {0} characters long)

Hi,
Our EP UM data source is a SAP System where the limitation is an 8 Character password (although I understand that will increase when we upgrade).  When a newly created user changes their password from the Log-on page we get a returned message of
"Invalid new password (must be no more than characters long)"
Is there a parameter that can be changed to show 8 instead of ?
I see that error message is created in a JavaBean but it calls a core sap library, not to sure if it would be wise to play around with that.
Thanks in advance.
Brian

hi brian,
i think you can change this in
systemadmin->system config->um configuration-> security settings
you can specify length of the password here.
i think this will solve your problem..
thanks..

  • How to send text file as an email attachment havin more than 255 characters

My requirement is to generate a text file and to send this text file as E-mail attachment. I am using FM 'SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1' to send the E-mail. but here the limitation is the number of characters per line must not be more than 255 characters whereas in my case it is exceeding 1000 characters per line. could anyone please suggest me what should i do now ? Each field in the text file has to be tab delimited.

Simplest might well be to use javamail API instead of the two tags that Sites provides, e.g. see email - Sending mail attachment using Java - Stack Overflow for a full example.

  • New password must differ from old password by at least 9999 characters.

    Hi All,
When  logging into my Apex as admin ( https://server/apex/apex_admin ) , I was asked to changed the password which I did but then I received the error "New password must differ from old password by at least 9999 characters". Apparently I made some wrong settings in the password policies before, but now I am stuck. I have the admin password, but I cannot go pass the change-passsword page.
Is there a way that I can reset the password policy from the command line ?
My Apex is 4.2.2 on Linux RHEL 6.3.
    Thanks,

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Even though things switched over via DTM, it sounds like something on your carrier side has not yet fully switched over. I suggest you contact them for formal assistance as they manage your BIS account and need to ensure that things have properly shifted over on their side.
FYI -- the credentials it is asking for have nothing to do with your email accounts. These credentials are your BIS account credentials (the account I mentioned above). BIS stores all of your email credentials so that it can perform as true PUSH from the perspective of the BB. But, to protect those, it further has credentials to get into the BIS account itself...and these are the credentials it is requesting.
    Good luck!

  • Spool output more than 255 characters

    Hi ,
i am running a ALV report in background whose output is more than 255 characters . but spool is showing only 255 charcters.
Do we have any setting to change to display all characters.
Or any OSS notes that can be applied.
    Thanks & regards,
    Sonika Ahuja

    Hi,
You need to change the Format Type through SPAD transaction. The Format Type decides the number of rows and columns per page. By creating a new format type as per your requirement would solve the probelm.
Also, in the Report declaration, change the Line-Size to 300 or as per the width of your output.
For further details pls. refer this thread :

  • More than 255 characters in a table text field

    Dear experts,
i am facing a problem (in WD Alv too) that i can not display more than 255 characters in a single text field.
I want to display a table containing a description field without a limitation of its length. As soon as providing a (formatted) string longer than 255 characters of length, no interactive form is shown on screen.
    Debugging a while, the following error message occurs;
ADS: com.adobe.ProcessingException: com.adobe.ProcessingException: XMLFM Exception - PDF render operation exception, reason code: 0 : InvalidXDPException: Xml parsing error: reference to invalid character number (error code 14) ...
Does anybody have similar problems to mine?
Did anyone resolve the issue to show more than 255 characters in a table in interactive form?

          MOVE ls_longtext_mast-longtext TO ls_action_item-zz_description.
This is how i get the text with format (line feeds).
    zz_description is type string.
My table is on a page, wrapped in a subform. and zz_description is type text field.
Yes, i maintained "allow multiple lines" and did not limit length somehow.
The problem arises in portal, pressing the preview button of a zform. providing a string <255 characters of length, everything works fine.

  • Storing more than 2000 characters in a varchar2 column in Oracle 11g?

We have a table in Oracle 11g with a varchar2 column. We use a proprietary programming language where this column is defined as string. Maximum we can store 2000 characters (4000 bytes) in this column. Now the requirement is such that the column needs to store more than 2000 characters. The DBAs don't like BLOB, CLOB or LONG datatypes for maintenance reasons.
There are 2 solutions I can think of -
    1. Remove this column from the original table and have a separate table for this column and then store each character in a row, in order to get more than 2000 characters. This table will be joined with the original table for queries.
    2. If maximum I need is 8000 characters, can I just add 3 more columns so that I will have 4 columns with 2000 char each to get 8000 chars. So when the first column is full, values would be spilled over to the next column and so on.
Which one is a better and easier approach? Please suggest.

Visu - Some people also do not like to use LOBs because of difficulty in reclaiming space and ever increasing LOB segments. Some of these problems were caused by Oracle bugs (eg, Bug 2944866 Free space in LOB table / tablespace not reused with ASSM, Bug 3019979 Space may not be reused efficiently in a LOB segment) - albeit in 9.2. I've seen a few bug reports for similar things in 10.2 (don't have the references). Still, if there is a workaround/patch is this reason enough to steer the application development into a new direction?

    >
But then why will the problem happen with this long string ?
    >
You don't have a 'long string'. You have a lot of single-quoted strings combined with some unquoted strings.
There are embedded singel quotes in what you call 'this long string'.
Try using a different string delimiter so that the quotes do not cause a problem.
You can use an exclamation point ('!') since there is none in the text you provided.
Here is an example of what will not work because there is one embedded single quote
'name LIKE '%DBMS_%%'This is the same value using exclamation as the delimiter - this works because there is no exclamation in the string
q'!name LIKE '%DBMS_%%'!'1. q must be the first character
    2. ' (single quote) must be the next character
    3. ! (or any delimiter you choose) is the next character
    4. abcdefg. . . -- this is your string that can include single quotes but not an exclamation point
    5. ! is the next to last character - must be the same delimiter used as the third character
    6. ' (single quote) is the last character
See the 'Text Literals' section of the SQL Reference for more examples
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/sql_elements003.htm
Note that this one will not work because the string includes the percent
This is the same value using exclamation as the delimiter - this works because there is no exclamation in the string
    q'%name LIKE '%DBMS_%%'%'

  • More than 255 characters required in excel send as attachment in mail.

    Hi Experts,
I have a requirement to send displayed list in an ALV report as attachment in excel through mail. I have used FM SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1. Now the problem is my excel data in more than 255 characters in a line. It is about 400 characters. But it is taking upto 255 characters in the internal table which is passed to parameter contents_bin . This is because the internal table is of type SOLISTI1. But the excel should hold atleast 400 characters as per my requirement. How to overcome this issue ? Please suggest me...
    Regards,
    SURYA

Say your records are exactly 400 length (I am saying 400 for sake of simplifying things, in reality record lengths can be variable and have to be calculated using STRLEN)
You will cut the first record at 255 length and put it in first row. You will put next 145 characters in 2nd row, followed by newline characters (hex 0D and 0A) at positions 146 & 147 (which indicates end of record for excel, so that it puts next record in a new excel row).
The second record will start from 148th character in second row till 255, that is 108 characters and will extend into 3rd row till 400 - 108 = 292th character followed by newline characters (hex 0D and 0A) at postions 293 & 294, followed by contents of 3rd record and so on and so forth.
If you records are of variable length you can also think of always blank padding them to create a record of such a fixed length that always your records are lesser than that and fit into it. This will leave some blank spaces at the end of each record in excel, which may be fine.

  • Verizon, Texting more than 160 characters

I got my phone a couple months ago and noticed the blackberry doesnt let u txt more than 160 characters. however yesterday while on the subway, i hit reply to a sms txt message, and instead of saying 160 at the top. it said 124 of 1/6. and i kept txting and it let me text more than 1 page. i went to verizon and asked them about this and they said it must be a glitch, but i dont understand how its a glitch if it did it in the first place. and so im wondering if there is a way i can get it to txt more than 160 characters in a txt message.
    thanks

The same thing has happened to me a couple of times. It gave me the option of 1/6 pages with 124 characters on each page. I've been meaning to go to the VZW store and ask about it but i guess they would just tell me the same as you. Have you heard/found anything else about it the matter? It won't even allow you to send more than 160 to another verizon carrier! I've never had that problem with any phone and i had a curve and i currently own a tour and both have done it in the period span of possessing them. Actually, i think the tour did it around the same date of your occurence. BB mess up? I have no clue. But, i really liked that concept. Why isn't it just an option. It's rather stupid. Either way i thought it was weird that we have had the same exact thing happen around the same time of the year but I also had it repeat the "glitch" a couple of times afterwards. There has to be a way to make that permanent. Or, at least, i hope.

  • Provide more than 16 characters on BKPF-XBLNR

We have a request to make available more than 16 characters on field BKPF-XBLNR for input.
Short to background. We are using IHC for vendor payments. The vendor payments from our affiliates are managed  on IHC. The IHC carry out all payments to external banks centrally. Some of our vendors (especially tax offices or public organizations) requested to have payment information which are longer than 16 digits. Usually the payment information are entered on the field BKPF-XBLNR and transferred via PAYEXT-IDocs into the IHC payment process.
We found SAP notes with regards to Brasilia but all of these are not valid for us.
Does anybody know a solution or workaround to provide more than 16 characters for payment information by use of field BKPF-XBLNR?
    Thanks
    Jakob

If the field has only 16characters, then you really cant enter morethan 16 characters.
If you want to do that, there are 2 options.
    1. Change the domain of that field to the number of characters you want. In this case, please note that all the fields having this domain will get changed. So you need to make an implication analysis for this and then do.This work is done by an ABAPer
    2. Make a new field in BKPF and fill that field instead of filling XBLNR. Second one is easy and without any strings attached. But it involves little bit of development.
Also post this question in Development forum if both of these dont serve your purpose.
    Hope this helps you.
    Reward if this helps.

  • Excel 2007 to Sql server table. Column with more than 255 characters.

    Hi there,
I am facing a problem while converting data from Excel 2007 to SQL server 2005 table. I am using BIDS 2005.I have an excel file where one particular column has more than 255 characters. I use OLEDB connection for excel file as there is no driver for Excel
2007 in BIDS2005. I am using Microsoft Office 12.0 Access Database Engine OLE DB Provider for Excel file.
Next, I changed advanced properties for the column to DT_NTEXT. But when I am getting errors on execution. They are:
[OLE DB Source [1949]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR.  An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E21.
[OLE DB Source [1949]] Error: Failed to retrieve long data for column "action".
[OLE DB Source [1949]] Error: There was an error with output column "action" (2046) on output "OLE DB Source Output" (1959). The column status returned was: "DBSTATUS_UNAVAILABLE".
[OLE DB Source [1949]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_INDUCEDTRANSFORMFAILUREONERROR.  The "output column "action" (2046)" failed because error code 0xC0209071 occurred, and the error row disposition on "output column "action"
(2046)" specifies failure on error. An error occurred on the specified object of the specified component.  There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure.
Please advise on how can I deal with columns having more than 255 characters in Excel file.
    Thanks!

Here is what your connection string should look like for excel source
    Provider
    =Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data
    Source=c:\temp\test.xls;Extended
    Properties="EXCEL 8.0;HDR=YES";

You can use the iPod in Disk mode and copy the outlines in their native format (Word?) and put them on your own computer.
