Invalid Permissions with PRU

Manually downloaded the PRU since it has not been pulling them down. Put into a temporary directory on the Linux server (file is still zipped). At at command prompt (logged in as root), ran the command zman suei <temppath\directory\10.0.mar10pru.zip -U=Administrator -P=<password>. System comes back
and tells me -System-update.invalidPermissions. This is the correct login
for the ZCC, used multiple times a day. Verified what was typed in, still
giving the error. Thought maybe it was just giving the error falsely, so logged into the ZCC and checked the system updates page- nothing there.
Any ideas on why it would say invalid permissions if the credentials are correct?
We only have the one account on the Zenworks server.

You should place the zip under /opt/novell/zenworks and make the owner and group of this file to zenworks.

  • Invalid permissions in Document Library

    Hello,
Somehow we managed to get invalid permissions in Document Libraries on our Sharepoint server.
Our Farm is a brand new 2-tier setup (1 server is database, 1 server is AD, IIS and Sharepoint itself).
We added users at the same time as we copied our data to sharepoint (through the Explorer).
We have a subsite for our "Production"-employees, each Employee will make products for a set of customers.
Each Customer has his own Document Library; this is where we put contracts, project-documents, designs, everything.
So, we have Document Libraries called something like "Customer A", "Customer B", "Customer C". "Employee 1" works for Customer B so he will get access to Document Library  "Customer B". He does not work
for Customer A or C, so he does not get access to those. We have about 60 customers so we have about 60 Document Libraries.
After we configured this and everything was set up we got complaints that our Employees could see (in the App-Treeview) large sets of "Customer"-libraries that they shouldn't be able to access. If they would click on it, they get an error saying
"Sorry, this site hasn't been shared with you.". Also, other sites which should be invisible are indeed invisbile. I have a mix of valid and invalid sites.
So to continue the example: Employee can see 2 Document Libraries, "Customer A" and "Customer B", where I would expect he would only see "Customer B". "Customer C" is correctly hidden. When I look at the settings in
"Customer A" he has no access. But the customer is in the TreeView, nonetheless.
I went out to investigate. When I check permissions I can see the user indeed does not have any permissions. That is good.
I wrote some code (in C#, using Sharepoint.Client) and I found out that Document Libraries are working correctly (Customer C) only show "EmptyMask"-access for a user. And for sites that do NOT work correctly ("Customer A") I see the following
    access:
    EmptyMask
    Open
    BrowseUserInfo
    UseClientIntegration
The "Open" permission would explain why the item is visible. It looks like these are inherited from the Site-settings (am I right?)
Now I don't know how to correct this situation.
I tried writing some code in C# that detects this invalid setup, but I can't find a way to only change these Permissions without creating new Security Roles and such. I don't want to create security roles.
I have googled for solutions, but I cannot find anyone with the same problem.
Anyone can give me one or more pointers?
    Thanks in Advance!

    Two points.
Are you logged in as an Admin or Site Owner?  Security Trimming in things like Site Contents will act differently for Admins than it will for regular users
Enabling the checkbox you did in the document library should automatically add it to the Quick Launch unless you have custom edited the quick Launch.  If you have then it takes the custom editing rather than the dynamic list created by the checkbox.
By default users will see the document libraries they have access to.  The problem is that you've started customizing things and there is no easy way to get back to the default after you do.

  • On Windows 7 PC, got the "upgrade iTunes" notice, said sure, but the upgrade failed, now I can't access iTunes "invalid permissions"

On Windows 7 PC, got the "upgrade iTunes" notice this morning, said sure, but the upgrade failed, now I can't access iTunes "invalid permissions"
I wasn't paying attention so I don't know the precise error I got on the upgrade failure.
All other iTunes upgrades have been fine...no brainers.  Done several on this W7 PC.
If I re-download and install a fresh iTunes I assume I will lose my library...true?  Can I find and save off my library so I don't have to "discover" all my music which is scattered all over the PC and a 1T attached USB drive.
Or is there some way to get the iTunes upgrade to successfully restart and install correctly?
    Help!

    Hello there, Konami84.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some recomendations for troubleshooting:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • I can no longer repair permissions with Disk Utility, v. 13

After installing iTunes update 11.1, I can no longer repair permissions with Disk Utility, v. 13. • How to manage Shared Inbox Permissions with a Group

I am trying to manage a shared inbox access rights and send as permissions with a security group.  My server is a 2013 CU7.  What I did is create a mailbox called HR.  Then I created a security group called HR Group.  I then assigned
the HR Group to the HR Shared mailbox with the EAC and cmd-lets to allow HR Group fullaccess and send-as rights.  The permissions do not seem to be applied even though the group shows in the EAC mailbox delegation window.  When I go to access/send
as I get permission denied.  Is there a way to use groups for this?  When I explicitly give myself permission to the HR shared mailbox it works fine.  Any thoughts?

    Hi,
Please check the permissions that the HR group has on HR mailbox by the following command:
Get-MailboxPermission -Identity “HR” –User “HR group”
Please try to grant HR mailbox full access and send as permission to HR Group with the following command again to check this issue:
Add-MailboxPermission -Identity “HR” –User “HR group” -AccessRights “FullAccess” -InheritanceType All
Add-ADPermission -Identity "HR" -User “HR group” -AccessRights ExtendedRight -ExtendedRights "Send As"
And what do you mean Inbox Permission? We usually use the
Add-MailboxFolderPermission cmdlet to manage folder-level permissions within a user’s mailbox.
    Best Regards.

  • Do I need to repair permissions with a SSD?

Do I need to repair permissions with a SSD?

Repairing permissions is only potentially helpful once for each problem with your computer you may experience. As it's a software-only function, it doesn't matter that the computer has an SSD instead of a hard drive.

  • Repairing Permissions With DU -Vs- MainMenu

    Hello,
I was curios does it matter if I repair permissions with disk Utility versus repairing them with Main Menu Pro version? Also will it hurt doing system maintenance using Main Menu. I know Main Menu is 3rd party, but I think it has been around long enough to be trusted. I've used it on my iMac 2008 without issue, but don't want to take any chances with this new MBP.
    Jaco

All maintenance applications use the same programs as Disk Utility so it wouldn't make any difference. But you can perform all the needed maintenance that the third-party software does just a few specific utilities.
There isn't that much maintenance required. Disk Utility can repair permissions (something you should rarely if ever need to do) as well as repair the hard drive. For the rest of it you can install the freeware, Applejack - CNet Downloads or MacUpdate.
For the occasional time when a hard drive has a problem DU cannot fix use Disk Warrior. And, to clean caches if needed use Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner.
    Also, see:
Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
For disk repairs use Disk Utility. For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior; DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. TechTool Pro provides additional repair options including file repair and recovery, system diagnostics, and disk defragmentation. TechTool Pro 4.5.1 or higher are Intel Mac compatible; Drive Genius is similar to TechTool Pro in terms of the various repair services provided. Versions 1.5.1 or later are Intel Mac compatible.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep. Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts had been significantly reduced in Tiger and Leopard. These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defrags files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems.
I would also recommend downloading the shareware utility TinkerTool System that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old logfiles and archives, clearing caches, etc. Other utilities are also available such as Onyx, Leopard Cache Cleaner, CockTail, and Xupport, for example.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack. If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the commandline. Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    Backuplist
    Carbon Copy Cloner
    Data Backup
    Deja Vu
    iBackup
    JaBack
    Silver Keeper
    MimMac
    Retrospect
    Super Flexible File Synchronizer
    ynchronizer
    SuperDuper!
    Synchronize Pro! X
    SyncTwoFolders
    Synk Pro
    Synk Standard
    Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.
Additional suggestions will be found in Mac Maintenance Quick Assist.
Referenced software can be found at CNet Downloads or MacUpdate.

  • Repair permissions with disk utility

I have tried all the suggestions about permissions repair and have recently reinstalled the combo upgrade to x.5.2 twice. I am still unable to repair permissions with the disk utility. It stalls at one minute for 20 minutes and completes after at least an hour repeating the usual messages, as reported in other posts,

Another possibility... the first time I ran Disk Utility after the upgrade it ran easily for an hour before finishing. Now it takes a few minutes, with the usual "ACL found not found" garbage.
Try leaving your computer on overnight. Most of the Cocktail functions replicate the standard Mac clean up functions that occur in the early hours of the morning. The next day, restart, run Disk Utility - Verify. If that comes up clean, try Permissions again. Let it run until it finishes even if that is well over an hour. BTW... make sure that your machine is updated to 10.5.2, disconnect any external drives, USB or Firewire devices and make sure that there are no programs open. You may even have to check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items to see if something is running in the background that can be temporarily turned off.

  • Why don't I see the log when I repair permissions with Disk Utility

I'm having issues with Safari hanging or bogging down to a snail's pace lately. I have tried several times to repair permissions with Disk Utility. It runs for several minutes, but shows nothing in the log even though the box is checked to show details. I've never seen this before. I don't know if Disk Utility is doing it's job or not....
    Any thoughts?

If the progress bar goes to the end, then you don't have any permissions needing repair. The fact that Safari is slowing down has nothing really to do with permissions.

  • Changing WRP file permissions with a GPO

I would like to set my domain workstations so that users are not able to launch regedit.exe, only administrators. Is there a way to set file permissions with a GPO where TrustedInstaller is still the owner and the file permissions are TrustedInstaller defaults
minus users? As soon as I push these manually defined settings via GPO, it completely breaks regedit.exe, and I get an access denied when I try to run it (even as local administrator).
Is there another way to deny domain and local users from launching regedit.exe (or any other WRP  file) and only allow SYSTEM and Administrators access through TrustedInstaller?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Is there another way to deny domain and local users from launching regedit.exe (or any other WRP  file) and only allow SYSTEM and Administrators access through TrustedInstaller?
To achieve your goal, please enable this group policy Don't run specified Windows applications which is under User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\System.
You can input “regedit.exe” within the group policy to prevent specific domain users from open regedit.exe. Those users will get a message as below when they trying to open regedit.exe:

  • Need some help with 2012 R2 Clustering Permissions (with Hyper-V)

Could someone please point me in the direction of  some sensible documentation regarding how 2012 cluster permissions work?
I have a hosted Powershell application that sits in a C# web service wrapper. It automates everything to do with Hyper-V and works 100% of the time.
I want the account it is running under (via impersonation) to be able to automate the creation of cluster shared volumes and the addition of VMs as clustered roles.
I've written the code and i am confident it works, but I cannot get my head around how the permissions are supposed to be set-up.
Ideally, I want a single account per hyper-v node, that can:
a.) Administer Hyper-V locally (there seems to be a group for this bit - this is working OK).
b.) Create and add clustered shared volumes within the cluster.
c.) Can add and remove cluster (VM) roles.
d.) Can add and remove data (VHDs) on the CSV themselves.
I ideally like to have this account not be a domain admin, and pare down its rights to the those listed above.
I can't even begin to explain how lost I've got trying to get this to work. Even if I do add a new domain admin, for instance, it doesn’t even seem to be capable off adding cluster roles or deleting files from a CSV. I think I really need to take a step
    back.
Is what I want to do even  possible?
    Thank you.

As far as storage: Your script would create the VHDX files on C:\ClusterStorage\Volume#
There is no special permission required for this other than perhaps local admin rights. I can create, delete, and mount VHDX files via Windows Explorer on any system in the domain within the CSV folder set.
    UNC: \\NODE\C$\ClusterStorage\Volume#
As far as creating and deleting VMs on the cluster use the PowerShell commands as normal.
One option would be to use Group Policy Preferences to deliver a domain user account to the Local Administrators Group on the Hyper-V Nodes. That user account would be the one that would be used to run your required PS commands in a local admin context.
Another option would be to provision a local admin account with the same UN/Pwd across all nodes and use that for your PowerShell needs.

  • Database selection with invalid cursor with MaxDB database

    Hi Experts,
    I encountered the this error:
    "Database selection with invalid cursor
The database interface was called by a cursor (in a FETCH or CLOSE
cursor operation) that is not flagged as opened. This can occur if a
COMMIT or ROLLBACK was executed within a SELECT loop (which closes all
opened cursors), followed by another attempt to access the cursor (for
example, the next time the loop is executed)."
We are using bw support package 19 early this month. Previously is working fine but this problem occured from the last 2 days.
    We are using MaxDB database.
    Really appreciate any speedy responds.

    Hi,
    We finally resolved the issue.
    The solution:
We check the RFC connection test in SM59. There are connection error.
There is an error that related J2EE_ADMIN user.
SO we reset the J2EE_ADMIN id in SU01.
    The problem goes away.
    Many thanks
