Inventory valuation in SAP IS retail

Hi SAP gurus,
Anybody  please help me to configure inventory valuation in SAP IS retail.
I have little knowledge in Joint valuation and split valuation in MM.
May I follow the same procedure for SAP IS retail also or else, help me for the same.
Expecting answers ASAP.
Regards,
Logi

Hi Venu
All of us are aware that the inventory valuation method — such as FIFO, LIFO, or Averaging — has an impact on the business’s profit margin.
I am only aware that the following Standard Functions have not been tested with Articles in SAP Retail:
Plant maintenance (PM)
Subcontracting with generic articles
LIFO and FIFO analysis
Production planning (PP-PI)
Using serial numbers with generic articles
Project System (PS)
The caveat coming out of the fact above is to ensure sure that these functions work correctly in your project.
Still looking for more information on any constraints of using LIFO FIFO for SAP Retail.

  • MM period / Year Closing Activity and inventory Valuation ??

    Hallow Experts !
At the time of Period end, we close the Posting Period in Transaction Code - MMPV. So as a Result system opens Next posting period Automatically. (Please Correct if i am wrong). At a time two posting periods are open, Current and previous posting period.
So, while this period close and open activity, The Material Stock valuation is carry forwarded from closing posting period to Opening period Automatically ?
I want to understand the System logic for this inventory valuation carry forward in brief.
Also please explain in brief, Year end activities by Materials Management side for material Valuation ???????
    Thanks in Advance !!

    Hi,
Before closing a period, you must ensure that all the transactions related to are posted( Examples: GR,IR etc…).Once you close the period in MM side, its difficult to post again in that closed period. For more read the SAP notes 487381.
You can check which period is open in MMRV( you can set here back posting allowed or not) and close the period in MMPV.
Initiation of period can be done in MMPI (1st time only) and setting of MM period can be done in OMSY.
Inventory valuation & automatic account posting depends on following T.codes and where is your material valuated (plant level or in co.code level)
1.OMSK: Valuation Class with Account category reference,
    2.OMWM: Active Valuation Grouping Code,
3.OMWN: Active Movement type with G/L account,
    4.OMWD: Active Valuation Area,
5.OMWB: Active Chart of account,Valuation Grouping Code,Account Grouping Code, Valuation Class and G/L acocounts

    2LIS_03_BX- Initial Stock/Material stock
    2LIS_03_BF - Material movements
2LIS_03_UM - Revaluations/Find the price of the stock
The first DataSource (2LIS_03_BX) is used to extract an opening stock balance on a
detailed level (material, plant, storage location and so on). At this moment, the opening
stock is the operative stock in the source system. "At this moment" is the point in time at
which the statistical setup ran for DataSource 2LIS_03_BX. (This is because no
documents are to be posted during this run and so the stock does not change during this
run, as we will see below). It is not possible to choose a key date freely.
The second DataSource (2LIS_03_BF) is used to extract the material movements into
the BW system. This DataSource provides the data as material documents (MCMSEG
    structure).
The third of the above DataSources (2LIS_03_UM) contains data from valuated
revaluations in Financial Accounting (document BSEG). This data is required to update
valuated stock changes for the calculated stock balance in the BW. This information is
not required in many situations as it is often only the quantities that are of importance.
This DataSource only describes financial accounting processes, not logistical ones. In
other words, only the stock value is changed here, no changes are made to the
quantities. Everything that is subsequently mentioned here about the upload sequence
and compression regarding DataSource 2LIS_03_BF also applies to this DataSource.
This means a detailed description is not required for the revaluation DataSource.

  • Error in "Inventory Valuation Method using Moving Average"

    Dear Sir,
Here I am using moving average as inventory valuation method at one of my client. I want to know that in SAP Business One, in case of F.G. valuation we can only get the valuation of Raw Material and not the direct expenses cost.
Can you please tell me how should i put the Direct Expense Cost (e.g. Labor Rate) in F.G. inventory Valuation?
    Please reply ASAP.
    Thanks & Regards
    SS

    Hi,
Only the raw material cost will be added to the Cost of the FG based  on the Quantity and price in the BOM.
    Ex:
To make Parent Item FG 1 nos , you required 2 nos of Child Item of Rs 10 each,
Create Bom for the same and refresh the cost of the FG (will find a refresh arrow in the Bottom of the BOM -Screen)
Once you Issue child parts to the respective production order and make  a receipt for the Parent Item the cost of the FG will be posted as RS 20
If you want to add the labor cost to the FG there is no direct provision to add the cost in SBO, we have give a work around only as follows.
Create a Service  Item ex.Labor Cost and give the Standard cost for that Item in inventory tab For example for Rs 200/Hr
Now add the Service item (Labor Cost) in the Bill of material and in the Quantity field  give the Time for the labor required is if the Labor Time taken is 30 min to make 1 FG give 0.5 ie (convert the cycle time to Hours and give the decimal value)
    then refresh the BOM,
Now the cost of the FG will be 20+100( labor cost) = 120
The above method can be used only if you have determined a standard time of labor to manufacture,
    With regards,
    G.Eshvanth Singh

  • Inventory Valuation Method

    HI,
My client has the requirement like comparison of Item with  different valuation method in a single report.
Is there any provision to do this.
    Please suggest
    Regards,
    Vikram

    Dear Vikram,
Inventory Valuation Method is inteneded as a managerial report to check what-if scenarios. For instance, you can see what happens if you value an item based on a different costing method. This report is not intended to be used as report for auditing. For audititng purposes use the Inventory Audit Report.
You can use any standard method for the inventory valuation. You can also define various criteria to restrict the selection for inventory valuation.
    Goto Inventory->Inventory Report->Inventory Valuation Report.
You will have to export to excel and consolidate the results.
Please note It can be run for other costing methods than actually selected for an item. For the selected method of valuation for an item, please run Inventory Audit Report. Exporting will work for you.

  • Inventory Valuation Difference for Finished Goods

    Dear Experts,
I have a following query below when the FG Inventory valuation differences are posted
Finished goods price control is set as u201CSu201D
    Eg: In Jan 2010 stock value 1000 ( 100*10)
    Feb 2010 , opening stk of 1000 ( 100 units * 10 per piece)
In Feb 2010 , FG price has changed to 12 per piece ( Standard cost estimate executed)
System  has posted the price difference entry
    Debit FG stock 200/-
    Credit Inv Price Diff 200/-
Now the query is,  stocks pertaining to Jan 2010 are lying in Feb 2010,
When Inventory  valuation is done,  my profit is overstated in Feb 2010 for Jan 2010 stocks by 200/-
Is there any way to handle in SAP that it would post the price diff in Jan 2010, instead of Feb2010.
    Advance thanks
    Sanjai

    Dear Ajay,
I will release std cost est  in Jan and also in Feb.
But since the Jan stock is carried to Feb, during the month end when I value the FG , price difference for Jan stock is posted in Feb .
Currently the client wants to value the stock on actual basis, what is the best option to overcome. we are in BBP stage
Eg Jan stock value is 2000 ( 200*10)
Feb Stock Value of goods produced in Feb is (100*12) 1200
Feb end stock as per the client it should be 2000+1200 = 3200
Note - But as per standard costing my price will be 3600 ( 300*12
    Thanks

  • Push the customer to have inventory valuation checkup is not polite

    Hi SAP AG,
Currently I did not understand what a person that have position as "Channels Enablement and Solutions Expert" and also a support organization named SAP support.
One of newest case I have received is an inventory valuation report reminder. SAP support confirm to a person named "Channels Enablement and Solutions Expert" and He/ She said that SAP support wonders why there is no response from all of customers.
Okay. let me tell ya now about the customer's disappointing statements as follows:
    1. Resolution time is more than 2 weeks
    2. On the scheduled time, they must upload their live db and must shut down their SBO operation time while the fixing of the productive live db is taking place. The schedule time is only in business hours of SAP Support and not their business hour
    3. They have to download their live db after fixing finished
    4. They must "give" their db and they will realize soon that the secret in the db will be exposed to other company where they are sure that the company's secret will be opened
What I dislike, it seems the SAP push the customer to have  the inventory valuation checkup either through Channels Enablement and Solutions Expert persons or another. Let them decide and you should not have to know their refusal or opinion

  • DRQ: Specific Identification Method for Inventory Valuation

This is a request to incorporate the features of Specific Identification Method (or Actual Cost) of Inventory Valuation for Serial Number / Batch Number controlled items.
Found lots of threads in the Forum regarding this topic, but could not able find out any answer from SAP.
Sometimes back, myself posted the same thread, but got reply that Navision has this features please use that.
Hope SAP Team has enough knowledge about this method of valuation, that is why I am not giving any example.
If require I can provide enough example on this topic.

  • Changing from Periodic inventory system to SAP

    Hi All,
I have an accounting questions regarding company that switching from Periodic Inventory system to SAP's perpetual inventory system.
For company that practices Periodic Inventory System, the method to calculate cost of goods sold = opening stock balances + purchases - closing stock balances. All these is reflected in the P&L statement.
When they switch to SAP, do they need to enter all these figures into SAP for the opening balances?
As SAP will not have opening balance stock, closing stock and purchases accounts, do they have to create these accounts in P&L just to take in the balances?
Does anyone have implemented for company that changing from periodic to perpetual inventory system? How do you take in the opening balances? if possible please give example, thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    MH

    Hi All,
Thanks for the reply. But what is the variance that you guys are talking about? Take example:
    Old system:
    Opening Stock balance = $ 5,000
    +Purchases                  = $20,000
    -Closing Stock balance  = $ 9,000
    Balance                        = $16,000
The amount that goes into Asset is Closing Balance $9,000 and the amount goes to P&L as COGS is $ 16,000? The rest for $20,000 and $ 5,000 can be ignore?
Thanks in advance if anyone can answer my question here.
    Regards,

  • Free Goods - FI & Inventory valuation Impact

    Dear All,
I would like to know what will be the FI & Inventory valuation impacts in the below 2 cases
    1.  When free goods indicator is flagged for an item in PO.
    2. When free goods indicator is not flagged, but GR-IV and Invoice receipt indicator is unchecked.
I understand what free goods are, but what i need to know is, how will the inventory be valued in both the cases & what will be the FI impact.
I hope my question is clear, await inputs.
    Regards,
    Vivek

    Hi,
First of all, if you activate "Free" indicator then "GR based IV" and "Invoice Receipt" indicators get deactivated automatically or when you deactivate "Invoice Receipt" indicator then "Free" indicator gets activated automatically. It's viceversa.
Now It depends upon the Price Control you have maintained in the material master.
    Once you activate "Free" item indicator OR deactivate "Invoice Receipt" indicator in PO then at the time of GR if;
    Price Control is "V" (MAP)
Goods Receipt happens on zero value and inturn reduces the MAP of the material which affects the material valuation. And No FI Entry will get generated.
For e.g. Current Stock of Material = 100 KG and MAP = 110 INR so Material Value = 11000 INR
After GR of 10 KG on FOC basis, Current Stock of Material = 110 KG, Material Value = 11000 INR so MAP = 100 INR
    Price Control "S" (Standard Price)
After GR, there is not any effect on the Standard price of the material or material valuation.
For e.g. Current Stock of Material = 100 KG and SP = 110 INR so Material Value = 11000 INR
After GR of 10 KG on FOC basis, Current Stock of Material = 110 KG, Material Value = 11000 INR and SP = 110 INR
    Here At the time of GR following A/c entry get generated;
    Price Difference A/c - Dr - 1100 INR
    GR/IR Clearing A/c - Cr - 1100 INR

  • GRPO not shown in Inventory Valuation report

    Hi All
When I run Inventory Valuation report one of the GRPO is not shown in the report where other GRPOs are shown.
To the GRPO which is not shown Landed cost is added so in place of the GRPO landed cost document number is displayed with the same quantity and price which originallly entered in GRPO not shown.  Is this normal system behaviour?  Please reply
    thanks
    SV Reddy

    Hi  Sachin,
    thanks for the reply,
But the Landed cost document value in the inventory valuation report  is same as GRPO document value.  When you add landed cost based on GRPO , in the valuation report it should show GRPO value + Landed cost right, but the system doesnt displya this?  any other reason it could be?
