Inverted Comma's coming in Item description Automatically-Urgent

Hi All,
I am bit confused about how Inverted comma appears automatically although not required.What is the solution for that.My client doesn't requires that.Try to rep ASAP.

I would like to know whether Inverted comma's appearing for all item names that you import (or) for few.
1. If your answer is "for few" then "check for your master data in excel sheet"
2. Whether your master data - item description contains any single quote/ double quote/ special characters.
3. Save your excel master data file in "CSV" format
4. Open the "CSV" format file in notepad and use find and replace to remove those unswanted special characters (including inverted comma's).
5. Import/ Update based on your database status.
Note: As risk is involved in doing these steps directly in Live database, I recommend you do in test system at first.

Dear Mona,
In order to resolve the issue, please do the following steps :-
1. Create a Initial Item code I0000 manually in the application.
2. Save the following query :-
Select max(Itemtype)
+ cast(substring( max(Itemcode), 2, len(max(Itemcode)))
+ 1 as nvarchar(10)) from OITM
Where Itemtype = $[OITM.Itemtype]
3. Create a formatted search based on the above query and assign it to the itemcode field. (Open Item master in add mode )
4. Then select refresh the formatted search regularly with the Item description change.
5. Then Go to item master data in add mode put something in item code field and then type the correct item description and click tab.
Now your Itemcode field will display as "I0001".

Wildcard Search requirement for Items description and BP Name

Hi Friends,
I want to know is there any feature in Item Master data or Business Partner Master Data in which search is done by putting middle or last name. For example the Item Name is Electric Motar 345 Gear
and when the user wants to search it by say Motar 345 then all items which inclused Motar 345 should come highlighted.
Same for BP also its required as BP name is Glem Tex Japan Pvt Limited and now user wants to search the BP by say Tex Japan and all BP which includes the word Tex Japan should come.
Is there any possibilities by which this can be achieved. Its somewhat wildcard search required. I heared its possible in B1.

I have exactly put the same as 'Motar 345 after Opening the Item Master Data and in find mode pressed * Enter and put the above in Find and selected Item Description. But sorry to say that nothing is coming and the cursor goes in the last item master data.
What might be the problem can you please tell me.

Item Description not popping for some items in Sales Order

Hello Experts,
We have upgraded ourselves to SAP B1 8.82 PL01. When posting the Sales Order, for some of the Items, the Item Description and other details which come automatically once the item code is selected are not displaying.
We have tested by creating a dummy item (this creation, I have opened an item for which details are not displayed, duplicated the item, and gave a new code). When I used this test item code, all the details are popping up.
Can anyone throw some light on where I could have gone wrong.

I think you must have to perform Data Checkup in SAP.
For doing so please do this......
Go to Administration> System Initialization> General Setting> Services> Tick on Perform data Check. Then relogin in SAP again and once process done please check this in Sales Order........

Web Apps using Item Description in Google Maps Mouseover

Does anyone know if there is a way to use alternative fields from the web app to display in the pop up on the google map when you are plotting web app items on a google map from the list view? I seem to be only getting the option to display the address (which comes from the standard address fields) and the Item Description. I want to use alternative fields (ie a summary field) as the Item Description copy is too long.
This is the pop up I mean. The top line is the Item Name, the address is coming from the standard item address fields, and then the view property link is what we have placed in the description field. We would like to change what we use the item description field for and therefore use another field for this map.

EGO Item Description creation substr

Hallo,
using EGO in 11i or R12.0.4 with item description function based. someone told me, that there exists a configuration page where you can define e.g. "from 3rd to 5th" of the Description of Attribute1 and "from 7th to 8th" of Attribute2.
Now the question : Is substr in plsql function the only way to do this ?

I have similar needs. I'm trying to automate DVD production from a web site. The site generates a unique order for a list of video clips. That list needs to drive the creation of menus to access each clip, and needs to drive addition of those particular video tracks to the DVD, link and burn.
I know that DVD Studio Pro can import XML files for each item; menus and video tracks, however there's a paradox in that the process breaks links for any items not already imported. This means that previous/next links will be alternately broken every time.
I'm trying to figure out why DVDSP cannot import more than one item description at a time. When I look at the XML file, it certainly looks like it could include multiple items, but I get errors when I try to assemble two exported items into a single item for import.

How can I store the item descriptions and a free explanatory text in several foreign languages? Also, how can I ensure that every customer receives correspondence automatically in the correct language?

Under System Initialisation > Company Details> Basic Initialisation there is an option to select Multi Language.
This initialises the "Translation" picker which allows you to store data on selected fields in different languages. You can then select languages for your Business Partners & create layouts that reflect the correct language for your Business Partner.
Search the help files and you will find guidance on how to do the set up.

Item Description change at marketing Document

Hi experts ,
I have a typical scenario . Let me describe in detail .
For example --
For Customer A - Item A is called as Apple
For Cusotmer B - Item A is called as Banana
Similarly Customer C......D,E......
And user need that information at marketing document .
My initial though that when I do SO - I will change item description useing Ctrl +tab feature and issue will be solved . But Typing has created a lot of issue . So I need to make it automatic .
If I select customer A , Item A ....It identifies Item Description should be populate as Apple
Similiarly
If I select customer B , Item A ....It identifies Item Description should be populate as Banana
As of now , Apple , Banana is not stored anywhere .. I can utilise UDF or UDT ....
Can you throw some light on this scenario ?

Please try this
U can change the item code for every BP in Documents according to your need
Use the functionality of BP catalog number
Inventory > Inventory management > BP catalog number
Here u can set catalog according to item per BP and also BP per item
For example u have 10 items that are named differently for 10 BP
First select the item tab select one of 10 item in header level
And all 10 BP in row level name them under BP catalog no.
After that do that for rest of nine item
When u want this functionally to work
Open the document in which you want to change name according to BP
Like all sale doc or purchase doc .
In form setting in document tab go to general tab and check Display BP Catalog Number
Do the changes after selecting the item in document other wise only those item will appear for which u have given catalog No for that BP
Tell me if it does not work

Change Item Description in Purchase Requisition

Hi,
Purchase requisition is created automatically from the maintenance order in IW31.
Here the requirement is to change the item description (Short Text) in the purchase requisition.
In ME52N when I tried to manually change, the item text is greyed out.If at all we have to change the item description what is the procedure.

You cant change this Text in ME52N, for this you need to change the description of operation in IW32. PR take default text form IW32 component tab page so you can change this text same will reflected to you PR.

Problem with inverted commas in texts in WAD

Hi all,
I've a problem with description texts in WAD. In a graph where one of the columns have the description, let's say something like ' bla"bla ' (in Hebrew we've texts with inverted commas in the middle of the word) and when I point with my mouse on the point to see the value in numbers the text is cut. let's say 'bla"bla' had 15 value it wouldn't show it, but it would show 'bla'. if the text is ' bla ' with value 18, it shows ' bla 18' .
How can i solve it?

Hi Abraham,
thsi could be a problem from the specisic setting of the infocube. Please check the BEx Settings from the infocube. You can find them by the following steps:
- search for the infocube
- doubleclick on the infocube
- choose an specific infoobjekt
- right mousebutton and click "specific dataprovider settings"
- check if the right entries are set

Changing Item Description in Sales document through programmatically.

How to change the sales document Item Description programmatically. I have one customization form, this will open when ever the user tabbed out from Quantity column. In that user form , user might be change the item description. I want to replace the sales document item description with the new one. if i manually replace it , the standard Item CFL will be automatically popup.
How can i resolve this?

Thanks for suggestion, I have already tried this, first of all i have change the Lines description and call the Ctrl+Tab functionality using sendkey method, but problem is after assigning the new description the system will open the CFL immediately.

you can actually achieve this even not doing it in SDK.
from your SO Window go to Item Description field the edit the name of the item that u Mean "Customize" then if your finished to edit the name of the item press this key combination (Ctrl + Tab)

Formatted Search is not auto-refreshed when Item Description changes

Hi all,
I have a UDF "Packing Details" at Goods Receipt screen row level.
My formatted search setting is the field should be auto-refreshed when Item No is changed.
1) I press TAB at Item No and choose an Item, Packing Details UDF will auto-refresh. (No problem)
2) However, if i press TAB at Item Description and choose an Item, Packing Details UDF will not auto-refresh. I need to press SHIFT+F2 to make packing details appear.
I try the same setting at Goods Receipt PO, the Packing Details UDF will refresh automatically regardless i choose the item from Item No or Item Description.
Is anyone face this problem before?

I have told this to customer before, but they prefer to have 'Refresh' on both Item Code and Item Description.
I think we have no choice but let the customer to choose either one, right?

Carriage return in feed item description?

As the title says, is it possible to use carriage returns in a podcast feed item description? I'd like my description to list the show topics... something like:
Show topics:
1. Topic 1
2. Topic 2
Possible? I'm currently using Podcast Maker to generate my feeds. Does that make it any easier or more difficult?

You can just put a newline character inside the description field and iTunes will show the newline in the Podcast Information Panel (click the "i" button for the episode to see this panel).
You shouldn't just put a tag in there though. If you want to put any kind of html tag in the description field, you must either escape them with a < and > tags or
with a <![CDATA[ ]]>.
So some field results I found out through experimentation with iTunes:
First what works:
- Newline characters work.
- works.
- <![CDATA[line 1 line 2]]> works too.
What doesn't work:
- 
- and its escaped forms such as 
I'm not sure how other podcast clients will treat the newline character though.

Is it possible to add item description in the Alert screen in sap b1

Please see the attachment for the alert screen that gets generated every time an item stock goes beyond the minimum or maximum level. In this screen is it possible to show the item number AND the item description so that the alert is easily understandable? (instead of drilling down into the item code to see each item which is what we are doing now)
