Invoke BPEL process using a java client - NullPointer Exception
Hi, We are trying to call a BPEL process using a java client from our Web Application. For some reason the BPEL engine just logs a NullPointerException and exits.
The same SOAP request when through SOAP UI tool works great.
Any help in resolving this is highly appreciated!
We are getting the below exception--

-----------------Hi,
Please ensure that you include the SOAP Header "SOAPAction" in your request. Most importantly, the value for that should be enclosed within double quotes.
For eg;
req.setRequestHeader("SOAPAction", '"process"'); -

My client code is following:
Service service = new Service();
Call call = (Call) service.createCall();
call.setTargetEndpointAddress(new java.net.URL("http://localhost:9700/orabpel/default/Array"));
SOAPEnvelope env = new SOAPEnvelope();
Name bodyName = env.createName("ArrayRequest", "tns", "http://localhost/");
SOAPBodyElement request = body.addBodyElement(bodyName);
Name childName = env.createName("input","tns","http://localhost/");
SOAPElement input = request.addChildElement(childName);
input.addTextNode("ORCL");
call.invoke(env);
MessageContext mc = call.getMessageContext();
System.out.println("\n============= Response ==============");
XMLUtils.PrettyElementToStream(mc.getResponseMessage().getSOAPEnvelope().getAsDOM(), System.out);
I'am having the same error with client generated by wsdl2java.
RegardsHi -
A few things that you may want to try to troubleshoot this issue:
1) Run our sample of calling a BPEL process from Axis, located in:
C:\orabpel\samples\interop\axis\AXISCallingSyncBPEL
2) Run your client through a TCP tunnel to see the specific SOAP request message that is being sent to the BPEL process and the SOAP response that is being generated. This should help you determine which side of the communication is causing the problem, as well as to rule out proxy server or other issues that are very common problems for this situation.

How to invoke BPEL process using Oracle Business Event System (BES)?
Hi,
I want to invoke a BPEL process using Business Events and Subscriptions (Oracle BES/Workflow). If anyone knows how this can be done, please reply to this thread. You can also mail me at [email protected]
Thanks,
Gaurav.yeah you are 100% correct ..
I have attached some stuff for CDH integration, where we used plsql to send out info on a created record to a queue.
CREATE OR REPLACE
TYPE XXBPEL_MESSAGE_TYPE AS OBJECT (
MSG_ID VARCHAR2(128),
INREPLYTO_MSG_ID VARCHAR2(128),
FROM_PARTY VARCHAR2(512),
TO_PARTY VARCHAR2(512),
ACTION_NAME VARCHAR2(512),
MSG_TYPE INT,
PAYLOAD CLOB,
ATTACHMENT BLOB
EXECUTE DBMS_AQADM.create_queue_table (queue_table => 'XXBPEL_QTAB',queue_payload_type => 'XXBPEL_MESSAGE_TYPE',multiple_consumers => TRUE);
EXECUTE DBMS_AQADM.create_queue (queue_name => 'XXBPEL_OUT_QUEUE',queue_table => 'XXBPEL_QTAB');
EXECUTE DBMS_AQADM.start_queue(queue_name => 'XXBPEL_OUT_QUEUE',dequeue => TRUE,enqueue => TRUE);
On BPEL side creata a process that listens to this queue (with and AQ partnerlink) as shown in $BPEL_HOME/integration\orabpel\samples\tutorials\124.AQAdapter\MulticonsumerInbound

Problem calling BPEL process using apache axis client
We have a BPEL process which we are trying to call from apache axis client. The problem is when we execute "call.invoke(new Object[] { xmlStr }) ", it adds an "argo" element to the message, and the xpath is unable to evaluate the message.
We are able to call the process fron .Net and VB 6 using soap toolkit without any problem, so it seems odd we are not able to do so from apache axis.
Here is how it should be received by the BPEL process:
<inputVariable>
<part xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" name="payload">
<Request xmlns="http://e1.oracle.com/IAM">
<MessageHeader>
<Operation>update</Operation>
</MessageHeader>
<MessageDetail xmlns="">
<szSecondaryUoM_UOM2/>
</MessageDetail>
</Request>
</part>
</inputVariable>
But this is the way it is received having been sent from apache axis (notice the arg0 element) :
<inputVariable>
<part xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" name="payload">
<arg0 xsi:type="xsd:string" xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/InventoryAdjustment" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
<Request xmlns="http://e1.oracle.com/IAM">
<MessageHeader>
<Operation>update</Operation>
</MessageHeader>
<MessageDetail xmlns="">
<szSecondaryUoM_UOM2/>
</MessageDetail>
</Request>
</arg0>
</part>
</inputVariable>
Any insight as to how to approach this would be appreciated. The WSDL and java code follow.

Invoking bpel process from java in oracle soa/bpm 11g
Hi,
We have some java code to invoke bpel process in oracle BPM 10g following the instructions in http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/integrate.1012/b14448/invoke.htm.
Basically the steps are:
1) get a Locator (com.oracle.bpel.client.Locator)
2) get IDeliveryService (com.oracle.bpel.client.delivery.IDeliveryService) reference from locator
3) call IDeliveryService method request or post with input message and get the response back.
Recently we want to migrated from oracle bpm 10g to oracle soa/bpm 11g. But I can not find the similar API in 11g. It seems now some adapter/binding need to be added in exposed service lane in soa composite view, for example, ADF-BC, direct binding etc, in order to allow java to invoke a bpel process. Here are two very useful links from Edwin about the detail how this is implemented.
http://biemond.blogspot.com/2009/11/invoking-soa-suite-11g-service-from.html
http://biemond.blogspot.com/2009/11/calling-soa-suite-direct-binding.html?showComment=1285198033913#comment-c1055322845511794252
My question is:
1) what are the choices and the official/best way to invoke a bpel process in oracle soa/bpm 11g from java?
2) does user need to add an adapter/binding in exposed service lane in order to let the bpel service be called in java?
3) what is the real difference between a bpm application and soa application in 11g?
I will really appreciate any expert's opinion.
Thanks,
BinThanks for your reply and confirmation, really appreciate it.
Yes, I found the difference of the invoking process API and was able to invoke bpel process using direct and ADF-BC binding by following Edwin's blog. But I have not found any official reference to compare this API difference between 10g and 11g ( I will mark this question as answered if anyone can find an official source from oracle, need to prove it to the team). The API to work with human task workflow seems pretty much the same between 10g and 11g. -
RequestTimeoutException error while invoking a BPEL process using RMI
Hi,
I am getting RequestTimeoutException error while invoking a BPEL process using this code:
Locator locator = LocatorFactory.createLocator(jndiProps);
String compositeDN = "default/"+processName+"!1.0";
Composite composite = locator.lookupComposite(compositeDN);
String serviceName = "client";
Service deliveryService = composite.getService(serviceName);
NormalizedMessage nm = new NormalizedMessageImpl();
nm.getPayload().put("payload", requestXml);
NormalizedMessage res = deliveryService.request("process", nm);
responseMap = res.getPayload();

To add to it the BPEL process is executing successfuly and RMI call timeout is happening.
Can I know how to increase the related timeout value?Have got the same problem. Scenario at my end is little different though.
I am trying to invoke a BPEL process from an ESB Service.
I am trying to look into it..
However, would be grateful, if someone can give some insight into this since many are running into this issue without being able to fix.

Invoking deployed bpel process using WLST
Hi All,
Am new to WLST. So please tolerate with me if i am asking the obvious
I read through the forums and have successfully deployed a BPEL process using WLST as given below
ant -f ant-sca-deploy.xml -DserverURL=http://localhost:8001 -DsarLocation=C:\oracle\Middleware\PS3\Oracle_SOA1\bin\sca_esd9_jca_bpel1.1_ccgd_trn_ob_rev1.jar -Doverwrite=true -Duser=weblogic -Dpassword=welcome1 -DforceDefault=true
And i have also tried un deploying and it works fine.
But, the problem is, i want to invoke the deployed BPEL process either by accessing the WSDL URL (http://localhost:8001/soa-infra/services/default/esd9_jca_bpel1.1_ccgd_trn_ob/bpelprocess1_client_ep?WSDL) or by any other means using WLST. I have to send an input to this deployed process.
I have googled it and have found ways to invoke a web service using JAVA or VBS. But is it possible to do it through WLST?
Thanks in advance.Sancho,
Thanks for the prompt reply. We trying to automate the following process:-
1. The user select multiple documents from a folder in a library that contains all released documents.
2. He then locks the documents.
3. Selects the locked documents and copies it to a folder in the personal library.
We are trying to lock and copy the documents as a 1 step process, because its difficult for the users to select all of the documents locked earlier and then copy it the personal library.
We are trying to take the folder name as the user parameter, when the files are locked, so that the process and create the lock the files, create the folder and copy the files in this folder.
Thanks again for your time and help.

Invoke Bpel Processes via API or Web Service Proxy Clients
Hi all,
I was wondering if any of the felow community members have found information regarding best practices in invoking bpel processes from a user interface other than ADF Faces?
Currently I'm using Web Service Proxy Clients to invoke my bpel processes, but I was wondering if it would be better to use the BPEL API?
Considerations I have regarding these 2 different approaches are mostly tight integration when using the BPEL API, because this means I have to port the BPEL (Oracle Code) inside my UI-application which isn't the case when using Web Service Proxy Clients.
What is the best way to instantiate bpel processes from a user interface, is that by using web service proxy clients or by using the bpel i
nvocation API?
Kind regards,
NathalieHi Marc,
These were my considerations as well, but I was looking for some kind of benchmarking regarding these 2 approaches. What's best practices when hooking up bpel inside UI Applications regarding performance, future-proofness (SOA Grid, SOA Composites, ...) etc.
I think I need to discuss this with the product team to make sure I'm taking the wright decisions.
Kind regards,
Nathalie -
To delete all instances of a particular bpel process using java APIs
Hi,
Which classes and methods are used for bulk instances deletion of BPEL process using APIs.Iam using this code for deleting instances in bulk,
WhereCondition wc = WhereConditionHelper.whereInstancesClosed();
IBPELDomainHandle domainHandle = locator.lookupDomain();
BPELProcessId processId1 = new BPELProcessId("default","DBTest","1.0");
domainHandle.deleteInstancesByProcessId(processId1);
but iam getting Eceptions like
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.Exception: Error deserializing return-value: java.io.InvalidClassException: com.oracle.bpel.client.BPELDomainHandle; local class incompatible: stream classdesc serialVersionUID = -6384534326625967840, local class serialVersionUID = -8310067783665200608
Iam able to delete instances one by one using this code,
------------------- basic code-----------
IInstanceHandle instance_handle[];
instance_handle= locator.listInstances(wc);
for(int x = 0; x< instance_handle.length; x++){
System.out.println("Deleting instance "+instance_handle[x]);
instance_handle[x].delete();
But i want to delete instances in bulk,not one by one.Can you help me out in this. -
