Invoking a scenario using web service

Hi Experts,
Could anyone pls suggest how to pass variables from SOAP to ODI 11g(11.1.1.6.3)
Here we are using wsdl utility to invoke a scenario using web service and trying to pass a variable like the below
The scenario is triggered successfully without passing a parameter.
But when i try to pass a variable like the below,am getting error
Variables name='PROJECT_CODE'
Variables value='JI-2015'
In ODI 11g, i have generated a scenario with a variable PROJECT_CODE as a declare variable and tried triggering from both the environments
From ODI 11g:
When I try to trigger the scenario from wsdl, in that variable step(in operator), I got error as ODI-17546: Specified variable not found in the Repository
But in the work repository SNP_VAR table I could still see the variable name under VAR_NAME column.
From ODI 10g:
When i try to do the same from odi 10g, the scenario execution is success.
But the variable had taken only NULL value instead of taking the value which i passed from wsdl.
Could you pls advise where am going wrong

variable should be passed in the soap message by adding variables elements. Refer to Note ID [1499852.1]
<Variables>
<Name>Project.Variable1</Name>
<Value>Variable1Value</Value>
</Variables>
<Variables>
<Name>Project.Variable2</Name>
<Value>Variable2Value</Value>
</Variables>
<Variables>
<Name>Project.Variable3</Name>
<Value>Variable3Value</Value>
</Variables>

  • How to invoke a short lived process using web service start point?

    I have a custom short-lived process that does not take any input parameter. I am able to successfully invoke the process from LiveCycle Workbench ES2. I want this process to be invoked by a java client through a web service call. Apart from the web service URL of my process (which looks like
    http://<server>:<portno>/soap/services/MyApplication/MyProcess?wsdl&lc_version=9.0.0&versi on=1.0) do the java client know anything else? Any authentication is required?
    My intention is to just find out what all the consumer of this process needs to know to invoke it through a web service call.
    Was anybody able to test a short-lived process through a web service invocation from SoapUI?

    I am not a programmer but I did find this article on he Developers Resource site that might lead you in th eright direction:

  • Publishing ODi scenario as Web Service

    Hi
    I could use ODI invoker Service to invoke ODi scenario from SOap UI, or BPel and other Tools
    The ODI invoker service invokes the SCENARIO & returns the session number for the Scenario triggered. But the issue is it will not wait for the scenario to complete.
    What I need is the status for the scenario after it is done....anyone can suggest how is it possible.
    Other way around is
    If its possible to publish scenarios as web services????

    Hi Setting Sync Mode to 1 helped .Thanks. But there is one issue :
    For Hard errors it returns the repsosne as false ( Failed) but for scenarios with data errors or unique constraint errors it returns a true.. is tehre a way to handle that.
    Anothe rquestion related to publishing the scenario as service is:
    Added Application server: AXIS2, and used "SKM Oracle" Knowledge module on a datastore(table) to generate and deploy webservice

    Sorry for the delayed response here, forget to add it to my watchlist. I didn't catch if you were using Java 1.5 or not. Prior to 1.5 the default maximum heap space was 64MB which with the overhead of the appserver might be your problem.
    Take a look at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/vm/gc-ergonomics.html and the java -Xmx <size> command line option to change the default (I believe the size argument is in bytes, but don't hold me to that). I think you can pass that as a command line option to the startup script, but you should check the doco to see if it needs to be wrapped in some other arg etc.,
    I seem to recall running into this same problem a few years back when I had a servlet doing some intense graphics processing on the fly and setting this option fixed the problem.

    Same question...did you ever got this resolved...for me, even the simple java program, when run on JDev 11g is ALSO not working. I am getting this.
    Using JDev 10g on the same machine (or for that matter SOA 10g) works perfectly.
    Have posted this thread too - Getting SSLHandshakeException when trying to login to OCOD using Jdev 11g

  • Why should I use Web Services?

    I am managing an Internet project for my company. We exhaustively use IIS, ASP and SQL 2000 Server and until today we feel very comfortable with those tools. We successfully developed some COMs also to make additional work. As a personal interest in my free time I am learning Java. I began two months ago and using certain APIs downloaded from the net I could develope applications and applets for an SMS messaging system interacting with a real cellular phone provider. I also had to learn about RMI and implement it in this project. That system now is working nice. So I was encouraged to learn more about Java and I found the Web Services world. Everybody is talking about it(and .NET of course), in the net, in magazines etc.. So, I decided to learn about Web Services.
    I read these paragraphs at the beginning of the Web Services Tutorial:
    "In a typical Web services scenario, a business application sends a request to a service at a given URL using the SOAP protocol over HTTP. The service receives the request, processes it, and returns a response. An often-cited example of a Web service is that of a stock quote service, in which the request asks for the current price of a specified stock, and the response gives the stock price. This is one of the simplest forms of a Web service in that the request is filled almost immediately, with the request and response being parts of the same method call."
    Maybe I am not able to understand the concept but this is more or less what I get using for example an ASP or an RMI or a Servlet, don't I?. Ok, there is no SOAP involved in those methods mentioned but still I have a request, and response and so on. So, what is the advantage I will get working with a Web Service?. Can anybody explain me?
    Regards,

    Here are a few reasons why. Enjoy!!

    What Can Amazon Web Services Be Used For?
    Although Amazon Web Services is a cool technology, it also provides the very useful function of enabling business partners to interact with Web site through standard protocols. This interaction can lead to a deeper, more valuable relationship for parties involved. Here are a few of the ways that partners are benefiting from Web Services:
    Associates: Associates program enables Web sites to link to Amazon.com and earn referral fees for sales that they drive through their links. Many Associates are now using Web Services to build more effective links to our store, thus enhancing their sites and earning more money.
    Sellers and Vendors: Amazon.com has thousands of third-party sellers who offer their products on our Web site. Using Web Services, these sellers can more easily manage large quantities of inventory on our platform, and download the latest product information to make sure that their products are competitively priced.
    Developers: Among the thousands of developers who have signed up to our Web Services program, many are now creating solutions to help other people work with Amazon. These solutions are powered using our Web Services APIs.

  • As400 performence issue using web services

    Performance degrade while accessing as400 using web services instead of MQ Connection. Any suggestion what might cause this ?
    Edited by: indubala on Dec 16, 2009 6:26 PM

    It is not just 1 node, you will need to do several things which I have outlined here.
    In the first node set your variables.
    Here the invocation class is defined.
    Set this to the standard Native Invocation Class used in CCA.
    If this was not defined, the Campaign should use a default invocation class but I'd advise you to specify just to be sure.
    The values are:
    $invocationClass
    com.taw.web.invocation.WebServiceInvocation
    Remember that when specifying the string value single quotes (ticks) should surround the value (as with any string in CCA Campaigns).
    Next in the same node set the values for the service name.
    Set this to the default of ‘invoke’ used in CCA.
    If this was not defined, the Campaign should use the default of ‘invoke’ but again I'd advise on setting it to be sure.
    The values are :
    $serviceName
    invoke
    Next you will need to set the values that will be passed as the input objects to the invocation class.
    Recall that the two required objects are WebServiceInvocationId and KeyValue.
    The next area that would need to be defined is the Invocation wait loop.
    This is done for both testing as well as operation reasons.
    For testing this provides simple troubleshooting.
    For production use, the loop is important to handle time outs and errors.
    If the timeout value is ever reached, the return value will be set to Fail.
    First set the loop counter, then in the child nodes define the Loop counter expressions to check for a specific time to wait value.
    The external web service will need to be prepared to receive the exact objects sent by the Invocation class.
    In addition it will also expect to be instructed to process the invoke method.
    That should be enough to get you going.

           SAP Netweaver Webdynpro mainly used for GUI part. It has one option called generate model from Web service(WSDL) using that generate model access the back end system.
           From Exchange Infrastructure(XI) also we can invoke the web services(WSDL).

    Anyone using Webservice as a pluggable data source in oracle 10g reports.(Report builder version:10.1.2.0.2)? We need to be able to use web service as one of the data source to create reports.Tried the following and ran into issues:
    Imported the wspds.jar fle from oracle plugin exchage. When tried using it received the following error in oracle reports trace file.
    04/26 22:27:22 java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.xml.parser.schema.XSDBuilder.build([Loracle/xml/parser/v2/XMLDocument;Ljava/net/URL;)Ljava/lang/Object;
    By troubleshooting issue found out that xmlparserv2.jar in 10g is newer than xmlparserv2.jar in 9i. wspds.jar is using xmlparserv2.jar in 9i as it was developed and tested for 9i only. Believe there is no newer wspds.jar file developed specifically for 10g?
    Is there a better/standard solution to use webservice as data source in oracle 10g reports? Does later version of oracle reports supports webservice as a data source without any additional plugins? Any suggestion would be helpful.

    Please provide support for the above request.
    It appears that Oracle 10g reports doesn't support Web Service as pluggable data source. Is this option is available in Oracle 11g Reports or Oracle Discoverer Or OBIEE?

  • Performance impact of using Web Services?

    As BEA and other vendors continue to add Web Services support
    to their enterprise software, what is your plan for
    quantifying the performance impact and the functional
    correctness of using web services before going live with the
    final application?
    Empirix is hosting a free one hour web event discussion on
    web services testing and automated web services testing
    solutions on Thursday, January 17, 2-3pm Eastern time.
    To sign-up for this web event or learn about other web
    events being offering by Empirix this month, go to:

    For your convenience, here is the complete abstract:
    The advent of web services has brought the promises of
    integrating multiple software applications from
    heterogeneous networks and for exchanging information
    from vendor-to-vendor or vendor-to-consumer in a
    standardized way.
    As web service technologies are deployed within and across
    organizations over the next several years, it will be
    critical that web services undergo performance testing.
    As with any enterprise software project, the adoption of
    proper test methodologies and use of testing tools will
    play a key part in the overall success or failure of
    projects utilizing web services. In a compressed
    software project schedule, an organization must
    quickly determine if its web services will operate
    successfully under a variety of load conditions. Like other
    web-based technologies, successful web services will need
    to respond quickly and correctly when implemented.
    During our presentation, we will discuss the testing
    challenges created by this emerging technology, along with
    the variety of testing solutions available. Automated
    web service testing will be discussed and demonstrated
    using FirstACT, the first web services performance testing solution available
    on the market. Using a sample web
    service, automatic test case creation, scalability testing,
    and results analysis will be explored.
    If you wish to download FirstACT prior to the web event, you can do so at:
