Invoking an excel application through servlet

Hello Everyone,
I need to display the o/p in an excel sheet. I can do that but still i have some questions with me. Can you plz help me in this regard?
1> I want to open a new excel application itself instead of displaying the o/p in the browser in an excel format.
2> I want the o/p in a formatted way i.e. increasing the cell width, height, and inserting some break points in the content.
I will be very greatfull if you send me some URL's related to this.
Thanks,
babloo.

Hello,
Is every one busy or no one intrested to help me?
This is my Code:
import javax.servlet.*;
import javax.servlet.http.*;
import java.io.*;
public class ExcelOp extends HttpServlet
public void init(ServletConfig config) throws ServletException
super.init(config);
public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException
     HttpSession session = request.getSession();
     String Db_Server = (String)session.getAttribute("Db_Server");
     String Ap_Server = (String)session.getAttribute("Ap_Server");
response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel");
     PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
     out.println("SNo.\tServer Name\tServer Configuration");
     out.println("1\tDatabase Server\t"+ Db_Server + " " + "X 1.7 GHz Power 4+ (Silicon On Insulator and copper) ");
It just prints the O/p in an excel sheet opened in a browser. I can only jump to next cell by using '\t' character. My question is how could I go to below cell or to the desired location and how could I increase the Cell width and height.
Eagerly waiting for your reply.
Thanks,
babloo

  • Oracle NoSQL through Servlet.

    Hello Everyone,
    I am trying to execute the nosql operations on server through servlet. I want to make an client server application but dont know why the CONNECTION TO KVSTORE IS NOT ESTABLISHED WHILE EXECUTING ON SERVLET.
    So is there any separate configuration needed to do so?
    Thanks In Advance.

    Could you be more explicit please?  What is the exact error you are seeing?
    Please explain in detail what is the issue you're facing.
    If you want to access an Oracle NoSQL Database KVStore through a servlet the best way would be to use a ServletContextListener in your web app that gets the KVStore handle and places it in application/context scope as an attribute (so that all servlets and JSPs would have access to it) and also closes the handle when the web app gets shut down.  You could even supply the store name, store host name and store host port (the helper host port -- hostName:hostPort) through the web.xml web app config file.
    Here is a simple example of such a ServletContextListener:
    import javax.servlet.ServletContext;
    import javax.servlet.ServletContextEvent;
    import javax.servlet.ServletContextListener;
    import javax.servlet.annotation.WebListener;
    import oracle.kv.KVStore;
    import oracle.kv.KVStoreConfig;
    import oracle.kv.KVStoreFactory;
    * KVStoreClientContextListener implements ServletContextListener, hence it will be
    * invoked when the application context is initialized and destroyed.
    * @author Andrei Costache
    @WebListener
    public class KVStoreClientContextListener implements ServletContextListener {
        @Override
        public void contextInitialized(ServletContextEvent sce) {
            ServletContext sc = sce.getServletContext();
            KVStore ondbstore = null;
            try {
                // Try to get the store name, store host name and store host port from web.xml,  as context attributes.
                // If they are not available, then default to the values specific to a default KVLite instance.
                String storeName = (String) sc.getAttribute("storeName");
                String hostName = (String) sc.getAttribute("hostName");
                String hostPort = (String) sc.getAttribute("hostPort");
                if (storeName == null) {
                    storeName = "kvstore";
                if (hostName == null) {
                    hostName = "localhost";
                if (hostPort == null) {
                    hostPort = "5000";
                // Get the KVStore and place it as an atribute in application/context scope.
                ondbstore = KVStoreFactory.getStore(new KVStoreConfig(storeName, hostName + ":" + hostPort));
                sc.setAttribute("ondbstore", ondbstore);
            } catch (Exception e) {
                sc.log("Could not get a KVStore instance");
        @Override
        public void contextDestroyed(ServletContextEvent sce) {
            KVStore ondbstore = null;
            ServletContext sc = sce.getServletContext();
            try {
                ondbstore = (KVStore) sc.getAttribute("ondbstore");
                if(ondbstore != null) {
                    ondbstore.close();
            } catch (Exception e) {
                sc.log("Could not successfully close the KVStore handles");
    In your servlets or JSPs you will simply retrieve the KVStore handle from the servlet context, where it is found as a context scope attribute:
    KVStore ondbstore = (KVStore) getServletContext().getAttribute("ondbstore");
    and do whatever operations you want using the KVStore handle.
    You will need the NoSQL Database kvclient.jar -- either your web container / application server can load it, or you could copy it under the WEB-INF/lib directory so that it gets loaded when your web app gets deployed and started.  (kvclient.jar is found under kv-M.N.P/lib).

  • Getting error while submitting data to excel workbook through excel services in InfoPath 2010

    Hi,
    I have a requirement where in have to fetch the calculated values from the excel workbook through InfoPath 2010 form.
    When I am submitting cell value to excel workbook using SetCellA1 by executing following action:
    "Submit using data connection: dataconnection"
    I am unable to submit form. It is giving "there has been an error while processing the form" in the front end. I checked the event viewer and it displayed following exception:
    There was a form postback error. (User: xxxx, Form Name: yyyyyyyy, IP: , Request:

    not present in the dictionary.)
    I was successfully able to submit the form using InfoPath client but it is giving error in the browser.
    Is there any way or configuration that I should do to resolve this issue.
    Any suggesttion would be of great help.

  • Invalid method "Save As" from Excel application object

    I have Windows 2000 and Excel 2002 installed on my machine.
    I down loaded "renamed Excel 2000 workbook.vi" from NI website. Relinked ref num to Excel application object but get the error of invalid method (Save As). Tried to relink invoke node to Save As by selecting method from drop down menu. However this method is not on the list. Tried other excel objects but can not find "Save As" method. Has this been removed/moved?

    I was able to correct the error by relinking the Workbooks->Open to Open. This changes the subsequent Invoke Node from IAppEvents to _Workbook. There you will find the Save As method.

  • Standalone application through BOE SDK

    Hi,
      I am new to SDK development so trying out different things with the SDK. The first experiement that I did was trying to build a standlone application through BOE SDK. The main purpsoe of this application is to connect the enterprise and get some details about an info object. But while building out this application I have noticed few issues:
       1. The getInstalledAuthIDs method of the ISessionMgr class is not returing any available authentication types.
       2. While trying to login using the logon method of the ISessionMgr using the secEnterprise as Enterprise, it's throwing the following exception:
        com.crystaldecisions.sdk.exception.SDKException$PluginNotFound: The plugin secEnterprise does not exist
         at com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.pluginmgr.internal.PluginMgr.getPluginInterface(Unknown Source)

         at com.bo.boesdk.tutorials.Login.main(Login.java:55)
      I have noticed that all tutorials associated with SDK are all using eithe JSP/ASP to demonstrate features of SDK. There is none exists on using the standalone application. Is it we can't build any standalone application using the BOE SDK?

    The BusinessObjects Enterprise SDK is only tested and fully supported in web applications - that's the reason why the documentation only describes its use in JSP/Servlet code.
    As for the specific exception you're getting - it may be caused since you're missing jar files.
    If using XI Release 2, then I'd reference the jars found by default in <install>\common\3.5\java\lib and <install>\common\3.5\java\lib\external.
    If using XI 3.0, then I'd use the documentation found [here|https://boc.sdn.sap.com/node/7298].

  • How to invoke a java application in the middle of the process

    In the middle of one process, I want to invoke a java application. After the java application, the process will continue and select a path based on the result of the java application. Which activity can be used to invoke a java application in the middle of the process?
    Thanks

    BPM Changes:
    1. Under 'External Resources' create a new resource of type 'Server Configuration'. Specify the host port and path of your servlet here. This will be invoked from your process. Lets name this configuration as 'myExternalConf'.
    2. Create an interactive activity say 'InvokeMyApplication' in your process. The main task of this application should be external task. (Implementation Type = External)
    3. Create the prepareMethod method say 'prepareExternal'. Set the arguments for this method as output arguments. These arguments will be available to you in your external servlet.
    4. Create the commit method say 'commitExternal'. Set the arguments as input arguments. The external servlet will return these arguments back to the process.
    5. Check the 'Use configuration' checkbox for your main task (external task). Select 'myExternalConf' here.
    Servlet changes:
    When the user executes your 'InvokeMyApplication' activity, he will be taken to the external servlet of your external application. You will be passed the currentActivity, currentParticipant, instanceID and one more argument (which I dont remember :( ) as url parameters.
    1. In this servlet, open a PAPI/PAPI WS session for the participant passed to the servlet as url parameter
    2. Use the currentActivity ( passed in url parameter), to call prepare method on this activity. This will return you with the arguments defined in 'prepareExternal' method.
    3. Using these argumets, or otherwise, you can do whatever you want in this servlet. When done prepare the arguments to pass back to BPM.
    4. call papiService.activityCommit and return the arguments.
    5. Flow goes back to your BPM application

    In order to resolve it I have taken the Adobe Credential File from SAP and put it under /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/SYS/global/AdobeDocumentServices/ TrustManagerService/trust/credentials directory as "003265.pfx", i.e. extracted zip file put here.
    Now I opened the Visual Administrator and moved to Cluster tab, choose Server <x> -> Services -> Document Services Configuration
    On the tab, select Runtime tab -> Credentials
    Put the values as follows
    Alias : ReaderRights
    P12 File : clicked on browse and select the "003265.pfx"
    sha1 : <blank>
    Password : XXXXXX (Given by SAP)
    Confirm Password : XXXXXX
    And after that clicked on ADD button, then a message comes as follows
    <b>An error occured while updating the credential expiry date for alias 'ReaderRights':Error Retrieving credential expiry: ReaderRights
    Show Addtional Messages? with "Yes" and "No" button</b>
    Also I restarted the PDF Manipulation Module, but still getting the same above error while deploying and same message on selecting "Document Services Configuration"
    Can someone tell me how I can solve this error
    Regards
    Deep

    Hi Francios,
        The pop-up error message has gone. The problem is with the rights with the folder "credential" means I have added the credential file to the /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/SYS/global/AdobeDocumentServices/TrustManagerService/trust/credentials directory and done the steps as given in first message too but it does not set the Expiry Date.
    Now I have given the full rights to credentials directory in Operating System and done these steps again.
    This time it also fetches the Expiry date and the pop-up error message has gone.
    So, there is no problem with JCE installation.
    But again when I deployed the Travel Request Application the same error message is coming which is in my first message.
    I am again putting some statements from my first message
    <b>Caused by: com.sap.tc.webdynpro.pdfobject.core.PDFObjectRuntimeException:
    Processing exception during a "UsageRights" operation.
    Request start time: Mon Mar 12 16:02:47 GMT+05:30 2007

    Specific error information:
    error while logging into credential ^0
    GeneralError: Operation failed.
    SecurityHandler.login:-1:
    Could not open Digital ID file with the password provided. Please try again.</b>
    Now when I am going through /tmp/adobewa_SPD_18828050/DM4291422590189871105.dir/DM-3572217866344419510.tmp
    I come to know that upto /tmp/adobewa_SPD_18828050 it exists but DM4291422590189871105.dir/DM-3572217866344419510.tmp does not exist.
    So what to do now. Please suggest.

  • Route an specific application through a proxy

    I'm trying to route all the conections from an specific application through a proxy (HTTP) with user authentication.
    The application doesn't have an option for this.
    I know I can do this in two ways. The first one is modify the network configuration in the System Preferences, however, this affects all the connections, which I don't want.
    The second method is using a third-party software: Proxifier, but it is too expansive for what I think can be done naturally by the system.
    Is there another method, preferably free, to do this? Something in Terminal or similar?
    Thank you.

    Yes, it can be done; Assuming all of the class files
    you need are installed, and the servlet engine has
    access to other resources you need (the correct files,
    other devices, etc) you can do it;The class files will be installed. Does the servlet engine normally have access?
    I am probably making a Windoze exe from the class files, since the target users are all using Windoze. Does this have any effect on the question?
    I would avoid it on general principles.
    There are a couple of things to consider:
    Your use of the word application make it seem like you
    are essentially starting a Java batch job and running
    it in a servlet engine. If you are doing this for a
    job, you might find that employer policies prohibit
    the use of web server resources for batch processing.Not a batch job, the application is basically a server itself. It is going to have request coming in on a port and it is going to respond. I am not trying to do this without the knowledge of the server admin. They are willing to let me run the server app. The only thing is that I need not tell them every time I want to stop/start the server app since the web server is at a remote location from where I am. If I can start/stop the server remotely, it saves them the trouble.
    I can also use this interface to monitor the error log, etc...
    The security models in servlet engines are frequently
    different than for batch, the especially the way they
    are optimized is different.
    You will not be able to wait to reveal final results
    unless the application is very quick; Browsers
    timeout rather quickly.Like I said above, I dont need to wait for results. I just need to be able to make a request to a servlet, and have it start/stop the application. hmmm... stopping might be a problem right, since the servlet wont have a reference to the app once it is running.... or can it hold the reference?? I am quite lost since I have never worked with servlets before.
    Thanks again,
    Dewang
