Invoking the Java VM from a DLL

Hi,
I'm trying to invoke the JVM from a Windows DLL using JNI -- my aim is to create the JVM when the DLL loads and destroy it when it unloads.
Unfortunately, execution hangs when JNI_CreateJavaVM(...) is executed. The exact same JVM initialization code runs as expected when invoked from the main() method of a standalone executable.
I'm aware of a similar post to this forum not too long ago, but there was no real solution given.
Has anyone experienced (and hopefully resolved) a similar snag while
invoking the JVM from a DLL?
Best,
Mark
Platform: I'm using JDK 1.4.0_01 on Windows 2000 and compiling with MS
Visual C++ 6.0.

im on the same platform and am using jdk 1.4 also. and that was the same problem i ran into.
the only solution i could come up w/ is to have all my functions call an invoking function. my invoking function tests to see if the jvm has been created already, if not, then it invokes one. so far it has worked out fine that way. ive tested the dll by loading it into a separate win32 c++ application both statically and dynamically. also have loaded it to a PowerBuilder application.

• Invoking the java compiler from programs

HI, I'm a high school java student in the AP Java course. A project that I have been interested in for a while is making a simple IDE, but to do this I need to compile and run programs from within my program.
What I have tried:
The method Compiler.compileClasses("name of file i wanted to compile");
The method System.loadLibrary(System.getProperty("java.compiler"));
The JavaCompiler class in javax.tools. this is my source code.
import javax.tools.*;
public class CompileTest
public static void main(String[] args)
String fileToCompile ="Test.java";
JavaCompiler compiler = ToolProvider.getSystemJavaCompiler();
int compilationResult =     compiler.run(null, null, null, fileToCompile);
if(compilationResult == 0)
System.out.println("Compilation is successful");
else
System.out.println("Compilation Failed");
After this threw NullPointerExceptions I put the line System.out.println(ToolProvider.getSystemJavaCompiler()); and the output was null.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also, if anyone knows how to run the subsequent class file, that would also be a big help

To run the program, load the class file with a classloader, which will give you a Class object. You then use reflection to find the public static void main(String[] args) Method object, then use Method's invoke method to call main.
You should deal with any exceptions from the program so that it doesn't break your IDE.
It would probably be a good idea to run the program in its own classloader which you could trash after it finishes running so you don't leave resources hanging around.
And finally you probably need to deal with the case where the program calls System.exit(). That could be tricky. (translation, I haven't the foggiest idea how to handle it but I'm sure its possible).
Also there is the issue of background threads (non daemon and daemon) running after main completes. What ya gonna do?
Runtime.exec() is looking mighty attractive right now.

• How to invoke a Java Program from Oracle 10g?(uRGENT)

Hello.
I've a query, that i have a program, that basically retreives the records from the
oracle table and then parser this information and then insert the values in corresponding database base tables. I want that, whenever the new program is inserted, a Trigger should fire and pass the most recently entered record to the Parser Program, means
1) Firing a Trigge
2)Storing the most latest data and pass it to the Parser PROGRAM
Can someone tell me how to do this? How to invoke a Java Program from within the database? Please if anyone has examples provide me. Its very urgent and tell me what is the basic mechanism.

What I want to do is invoke or startup World.java from Hello.java.
If possible kindly give code examples?

main is just a normal method so Hello can invoke the main method of World just as it would invoke any other method.

• Is it possible to invoke a Java class from Data Services 4.0?

Is it possible to invoke a Java class from Data Services? I have a query transform with a varchar column which I want to run an external java class against to encrypt the string value. In the Management Console, I created an adapter of type TestAdapter and referenced my jar file in the Classpath section, but when I create a Datastore of type Adapter I can't import any functions related to my java class? It seems like I need to create a new Adapter type similar to the TestAdapter with the 'Adapter Class' set to my java class? I can't figure out how to do this - which is the correct approach and is there some documentation available? thanks!

First u nees to imoprt the class which u are doing right
then u need to call the function of the class , and then you can put the value in a string .
DbCon.function()
String data = DbCon.db;
where db is a string in DbCon

Hi Nagaraju,
Read your post.We've somewhat the similar problem as yours as we are facing some error while invoking a WS-Security secured web service from our BPEL Process on the windows platform(SOA 10.1.3.3.0).
For the BPEL process we are following the same steps as given in an AMIS blog : - [http://technology.amis.nl/blog/1607/how-to-call-a-ws-security-secured-web-service-from-oracle-bpel]
but sttill,after deploying it and passing values in it,we are getting the following error on the console :-
“Header [http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2004/08/addressing:Action] for ultimate recipient is required but not present in the message”
As you have wriiten that you've already called a secured web service in windows platform ,so if you can please help me out in this issue.
I've opened a separate thread for this to avoid confusion. :-

I thought there might be version conflict. So i changed the java complier version to 1.5 in my Eclipse. After that is done again i am facing the same problem.
Can anyone help me to resolve this issue?
Thanks in Advance.

i have installed BO SDK 3.1 , Service pack 3. It comes woth JDK 1.5 version. i have not done any chnages to it. I impoprted all the jar files related to BO into eclipse.
1) Actually, i am writing java code on eclipse. When i run code from the eclipse, it creates a session to cmc and creates folder structure what i need.
2) But the thing is, that code needs to run, when i import the .class file into cmc. The process how i imported the .class file to cmc.
Manage> Add> Program File-->Java (Check Box). In this way i added java class file from the eclipse workspace (class file from the bin directory).
3) So when i run the .class file externally by another java program or also when i log in to CMC and run that .class file, the instance shows sucess, but when i see the logfile i am getting an exception that which i mentioned above.
If my method is worng can you please let me know the stepts how to run java program in cmc.

Hi, Colin,

1. Normally you'd shut CF down first ... but that's not necessary for you
2. Open Java Preferences again
3. Select Java SE 6 and move it (drag) to the top spot in both section (Applet
Plugin and Applications)
4. Open Terminal
5. Type java -version (you should see 1.6.0_13 as the new version)
6. Try to start CF again
This may not work (I've had issues with it) but it's technically how it's
supposed to work. With the Java Preferences utility, you're visually setting a
default JVM (you can do it with commands in Terminal but this is much faster
and easier).
If CF still won't start, look for the jvm.config file in your CF application
folder (try /Applications/ColdFusion8/bin or
/Applications/ColdFusion8/runtime/bin -- the latter is where a jvm.config file
is on my machine for a particular version of CF that's installed similar to
yours). You can override the JVM in this file but, hopefully, that won't be
necessary!
Best,
Craig

• Deploying the java files from main project

haii..
i am using netbeans5.5 ...i started do all my programs in a single project...all these are small small programs using Jframes and all..now i want to run this programs separately from the IDE..like from the cmdline...so i go to tat netbeans installtn folder src and i find my programs there all the files are there in .java and .form etn...and wen i tried to compile the .java alone it gives me lot of errors ....
what can i do ...plz help me

If you use NetBeans you can extract the .class files
and then get source from the .class files.Not necessarily. Presumably, then, Netbeans comes with a decompiler. All well and good, but of course what gets spat out of a decompiler is not necessarily what was compiled in the first place. How much that matters depends very much on why you want to see the source, of course, of course
