IOException: Prohibited package name: java.lang

Hi!
I have problems when trying to call a method that throws an exception over RMI-iiop. Instead of the exceptions that should be thrown I get an IOException and a stackTrace is printed out in the console(even if the exception is caught) The server is WL8.1 SP3 with java 1.4.2 and the client runs under java 1.3.1_09-b03.
It works when the client runs under java 1.4.2. I also wrote a small testapplication outside of WL and it works fine too(using RMI-iiop, tnameserv and suns ORB, server under java 1.4.2 and client under java 1.3.1_09-b03).
But when trying to call the method in WL i get the exception below instead of the one that is thrown.
java.io.IOException: Prohibited package name: java.lang
     at com.sun.corba.se.internal.io.IIOPInputStream.throwExceptionType(Native Method)
     at com.sun.corba.se.internal.io.IIOPInputStream.simpleReadObject(IIOPInputStream.java:272)
     at com.sun.corba.se.internal.io.ValueHandlerImpl.readValueInternal(ValueHandlerImpl.java:245)     at com.sun.corba.se.internal.io.ValueHandlerImpl.readValue(ValueHandlerImpl.java:207)
     at com.sun.corba.se.internal.iiop.CDRInputStream.read_value(CDRInputStream.java:1058)
I have also tried to use suns ORB in WL but still get the same problem. Everything works fine except when an exception is thrown by the remote method.
Any ideas what the problem could be?

Hi, thank you for the answer.
But I still think it can be a WL-problem. I can get an application outside of WL to work between java 1.4.2 and java 1.3.1. Even when sending a new exception created and compiled under 1.4.2 and sent to the 1.3.1-JVM, it is recieved correctly by the 1.3.1-JVM and thrown.
I also tried to change WL to use SUNs ORB which I use in my test but still get the same problem so it feels like the problem is with WL's JNDI..

Well the problem is because of the change in format
java.lang.Throwable in
J2SE 1.4. There are known bugs in the Sun 1.3.1 ORBs
that prevent this
working with a vanilla 1.3.1 client - and we can only
support a WLS IIOP
client running with 1.3.1 in this scenario (e.g. WLS
7.0).

  • Prohibited package name: java.sql

    hi,
    i am trying to push a java application onto a JRun 3.1 server connecting to a oracle 8 database. in my servlet initialization, i use a connection pool to gain a connection to the database.
    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver");
    outConn = DriverManager.getConnection(outUrl, outUsername, outPassword);
    //throws error at the above line
    this will throw an error:
    java.lang.SecurityException: Prohibited package name: java.sql
    this error is most peculiar because it runs fine locally on my developers version of JRun 3.1. but when i push it to a licensed version on a different server it gives this error. any hints?

    I believe that class name for the Oracle JDBC driver is oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver. The one you posted is incorrect.

  • IOS packager throws java.lang.OutOfMemoryError when packaging large projects

    Crosspost from stackoverflow, I figured this forum might have some insights too!
    I've been porting a Flex 4 codebase to iOS using the adobe packager, but have run into a snag when trying to package our whole codebase. The packager runs for a while and then throws an OutOfMemoryError - even if I increase the java heap size to 4GB.
    No single piece of code seems to be causing the problem, as it compiles successfully if I cut out large chunks of code, and I can change which chunks I'm omitting. It might be related to the size of the code itself.
    I've logged a very detailed bug report with adobe here: http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FB-32192 . It includes an AIRI file that you can package to reproduce the issue, a ruby script that generates actionscript code to generate that AIRI file, and a summary of all of the things I tried before logging the bug.
    Has anyone else tried compiling large projects with the iOS packager? Are there any known workarounds?

    Thanks for reporting the issue, we are working on it, hopefully it will be available in next major version of AIR.
    To know more about it, you might want nominate yourself for our prerelease program at this link.

    Hi Roman,
    I got the same odd exception trying to implement a custom realm using an
    own UserInfo. The simple but ridiculous solution for me was to make
    UserInfo.getRealmName() return "weblogic" instead of the real realm
    name.
    It's astonishing how sedansly BEA reacts on this error, since it often
    occurs in the newsgroups.

    * How to convert an instance from java.lang.Object class to a particular class

    Roster EJB component is make up of RosterHome, Roster and RosterBean.
    RosterHome is the home interface of Roster EJB.
    Roster is the remote interface of Roster EJB.
    RosterBean is the implement of Roster EJB.
    The following code segment is to invoke Roster EJB component.
    String jndiName="roster.RosterHome";
    javax.naming.Context initial = getInitialContext();//getInitialContext() returns a instance of Context.
    Object objref = initial.lookup(jndiName);
    RosterHome home =

    RosterHome.class);
    Roster myRoster = home.create();
    String team="T1"
    String player="Tom"
    myRoster.addPlayer(player,team);
    But, now, all the home interface, the remote interface and the JNDI Name of
    Roster EJB component are not been known at the compiling time. However They are
    known at the running time, throught reading from the XML config file.
    Questions:
    1,How to write code for this case ? or
    2,How to convert an instance from Object class to a particular class witch is known
    only at the running time?
    String jndiName="roster.RosterHome";// in fact, reads from XML file.
    String homeClassName="roster.RosterHome";// in fact, reads from XML file.
    String remoteClassName="roster.Roster";// in fact, reads from XML file.
    javax.naming.Context initial = getInitialContext();//getInitialContext() returns a instance of Context.
    Object objref = initial.lookup(jndiName);
    Object objHome= javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow(objref,
    Class.forName(homeClassName));
    /* how to do next?
    }

    I am not sure what you are trying to do. But at some point you should know which methods to call on the remote interfaces. Maybe the method names are stored in the XML file as well or you have a set of standard method names (also consider parameters).
    However, this can be solved by reflection. Look at the java.lang.reflect package, especially java.lang.reflect.Method, and also at java.lang.Class.
    If you are doing this on the app server:
    I've seen posts where people say that reflection is not permitted in EJB, but I don't think so. Check the EJB spec.
    If you are doing this in an application: reflection is always permitted. Probably also in applets and JSP.

    To prevent anyone else of makeing the same mistake, a short decription:
    We stored the wf????.jar files inside the $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext directory.
    The correct way is to let them inside $ORACLE_HOME/jlib dir of the oracle db and extend the classpath, respectively add the following lines to 'orion-application.xml' of the app.
         <library path="$ORACLE_HOME/jlib/wfapi.jar" />

    It seems to work in my local machine (running on JDeveloper10G embedded server), but i cannot make it work in production server (version 10.1.2.0.2) ...
    Any idea of what is going wrong? I know what the error means, but i don't know why it is raising.

    I've tried the webservice standalone (without a servlet frontend) and it seems to work, so i'll post this in the servlets forum.
    Thanks.

  • Packages that java normally already imports

    I am trying to get back into programming, and I remember awhile ago being told that java automatically imports certain packages, like java.lang, and maybe a couple more. I tried to test that out by using methods withing java.lang, or java.util, or java.io without importing those packages.
    So I tried to test out java.util. I created an Arrays class without explicitly importing java.util. But my programming didn't recognize the class. I think it is possible that because of my directory structure the imports isn't working. But I'm not exactly sure how to make java see the packages in it's correct directory. Anybody can help? A more extensive question...what kind of environment does everybody use to code (windows environments please, that's what I'm using, I haven't set up a Linux box yet).

  • What is meant by java.lang.object?

    plzz help me out>

    There's a folder called java, and it has a subfolder
    called lang, and in that subfolder is the class
    definition for a class called Object.No! Those are not folders.
    There's a package called java.lang, which contains a class Object, which is the superclass of all other classes in Java.

  • Java.lang.Exception: Could not get name for DC project

    Hello Experts,
    We have a code which is downloaded from SVN repository.
    I have imported the code from my desktop into NWDS and when I try to deploy it throws,
    java.lang.Exception: Could not get name for DC project
    I have referred few threads in SCN and solution suggested is to change the workspace and create a new DC & copy the _comp from old DC.
    I tried the above solution but there are lot of build errors as we have few RFC models and it is throwing build errors for missing model reference.
    Kindly help me on how to fix the error.
    Thanks, Swarnaprakash

    Dear Swarnaprakash,
    The Web Dynpro DCs Import C:\----\user\.dtc\LocalDevelopment\DCs\sap.com\test and
    the related package for DC  is missing once check it after try to import.
    Depending on which Java compiler preferences are set, you may see some
    warnings in the "Task" view after importing the project. If the severity level for problems of type "Unused imports" (set in Preferences – Java – Compiler) has the value "Warning", the compiler will issue a warning for unused import references. Ignore these warnings!
    Still You getting means delete your .metadata before take the backup.after open the NWDS again it will set new configurations in your system.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Durga Rao.
