IOS 7.1 and Exchange email problem

When I check my email, the iphone reloads all the emails, as if it were the first time. The only thing different is the upgrade to ios 7.1. Is anyone else experiencing this.
I have the iphone 5 and connect to an Exchange Server for work email.

Hello JohnSantaMonica,
It sounds like whenever you open your Mail app, all the Exchange emails download again as though you just set up the account. I recommend starting by closing the Mail app:
iOS: Force an app to close
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
All the very best,
Sterling

  • UPN and Exchange Email Address

    Hi,
I have always followed the practice of creating a user account in AD and copying the format for the username as the email address in Exchange. for example, the UPN would be firstname.lastname and the email address would be [email protected]
However, in an environment I have taken over the AD names are quite often in a different format to the email such as; daveb and [email protected], or stevem and [email protected]
my question is - are there any foreseeable problems with having these differing formats between an AD name and an Exchange Email? to me it looks messy and confusing because there's varying formats used but from a technical perspective what issues might I
face, would we have any problems when, say, merging another AD into ours or migrating to Exchange Online? Personally I believe firstname.surname is a good standardized format to have, I'd appreciate your opinions.
    Thanks
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
Regarding using different formats between UPN of AD user and Exchange Email, you may face OWA login issue.

    Try a reset ...
    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

  • IPhone 3G and Exchange odd problem, and it's not the 3.1 encryption bug

Ok, so first off I solved the issue I was seeing, but I have to post it anyway because I spent much too long figuring it out and would like to find a definitive answer if possible. This may be a problem with the iPhone, or it might be an Exchange issue. I honestly don't know, which is another reason I decided to post this. Ok, here goes
I received a new iPhone 3G a few days ago. I already support about a dozen or so iPhone users using Exchange email and have had no complaints. However, I finally ran into something that wasn't normal. We have a single Exchange 2003 server hosting email for a few different domain names. For this to make sense, lets say those domains are email1.com and email2.com. The server itself is in the DNS as exchange.email1.com, which is manually set in the ActiveSync configuration when it asks for the server name. I have successfully setup email for users in both email1.com and email2.com with no problems. Now is where the weirdness begins...
We have a proprietary application that requires users to have no more than 8 characters in their username, but we standardize on using the entire last name in the email address. For an example, let's say we have two employees named John and Tom Anderson. John works the email1.com company and Tom works for the email2.com company. This means their usernames would be janderso and tanderso, but their default email addresses would be [email protected] and [email protected]. The problem I have found is that this is fine for [email protected] and ActiveSync on the iPhone works correctly. However, [email protected] has no such luck and the account will verify but will not sync. This is true with SSL turned on or off. On occassion it will work, but eventually it will fail and anything synchronized to the phone will mysteriously disappear and then the phone begins giving errors connecting.
Now what I found will fix this problem is matching the username to the email address. In my case, I was able to change the logon for this particular user since they didn't need access to the proprietary application. Changing the username from tanderso to tanderson, then leaving the email as [email protected] and reconfiguring ActiveSync on the iPhone worked. This was not required for users with an email address of [email protected] who are able to have differing usernames and email addresses without any issue.
I first ran into this with an iPhone with a 3.1 OS installed, but have since been able to test it on the 3.0.1 OS and it failed there as well. Like I said, this may be a problem with the iPhone software or my Exchange server, but since I don't know which it is hopefully if it is an iPhone problem this will save you the time of trying to figure out what is going on.
Has anyone else ran into this issue, or do you have any idea what might cause it? It was very weird because sometimes it would work for a little while, but most of the time it didn't. As soon as I changed the logon account name to match the email, everything was fine.

No replies so I'm going to assume I'm the only one that ever had the issue. Everything appears to be working fine for the user now, and has been since the original post.

  • Mail.app and Exchange Server Problems?

I am an Apple Mail user and my university just switched to an Exchange Server 2003 for student e-mail. The university is only supporting Entourage, but I have configured Mail to work with Exchange without any major problem. This week, I have noticed that I have a problem where Mail.app will say that I have four new e-mails in my Exchange in-box. When I click on my Exchange in-box, no new e-mail appears. After experiencing this problem for about a week, I finally logged onto our Exchange web access site for the university. I discovered that I did indeed have four new e-mails in my in-box, but these e-mails were not showing up in Mail.app. Interestingly, all of the e-mails were undeliverable e-mails that had popped back because I had the wrong address. I am wondering why these e-mails would show up in on web access, but not show up in Mail.app.
I have spoken with our university tech. support numerous times and they have been unable to figure out the problem. It seems this may be a Mail.app isse as opposed to an Exchange problem.
    Thanks,
    Joe Biedlingmaier

I use Exchange at work and have 5 Macs working with it w/o problems. The trick is to correctly specify SMPT and Outlook Web Access Server.
    Do the following:
When you create a new mail account, choose IMAP or Exchange (if it shows on the list)
for Email Address specify your exchange email address
    continue
for Incoming Mail Server: use name of the server without any prefixes such as mail. (The example shown under the box is wrong. It took me forever to figure it out)
for username and password use the same one you use when log in into exchange webmail
    continue
for outgoing email server use the name of the server, again without smtp.
you may need to use authentification in order to send mail. In that case use the same user and password as when you log into your exchange
I was doing it as I was writing this to make sure it workes. It does.

  • Exchange Email Problem

I have configured my exchange email on my iPhone. I was reading the mail on my phone and at the same time the mail got downloaded on my laptop email client. Email stays in the iPhone inbox forever doesnt delete. Any suggestions to this problem?

I don't understand your problem. What you've described is how Exchange works...
When you access an Exchange email account on your iPhone/iPad, all of the messages you see in your inbox exist on the Exchange server. Your messages are not downloaded to the phone and then deleted from the server. Technically your phone does "download" a copy of the message, but that is basically a cached copy. With Exchange you are working "live" on the server. If you delete a message on your iPhone, the message is deleted from the server, and vice versa. Your desktop client is likely an Exchange-compatible client, like Outlook, and the same is true on the desktop.
On the iPhone you can limit how much mail is shown in the inbox by going to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > your email account > Mail Days to Sync. Changing the number of days will change how many days of messages are available on your phone, but understand this does not delete messages from the Exchange server.
Let me know if you have questions or I need to explain things better.

  • Blackberry Curve 8330 and Exchange Email??

Just got a Blackberry Curve 8330 and was hoping I could use it to get my corporate email.  We are using Exchange SP2 behind an ISA 2006 firewall and OWA is using a self-signed certificate for SSL.  When I attempt to setup this email on my Curve it can not connect to the Exchange server.  I was told that the Blackberry could use OWA to connect, but I am guessing either the ISA server or the self-signed certificate for OWA is causing the problem.  I really love the phone and don't want to have to swap it for something else because of this issue.

Ok, well first things first, Does your company have a Blackberry Enterprise Server with their exchange??
If they do, u need to have a Blackberry Enterprise plan on your service and you can connect straight to their BES/Exchange.
If they don't have a BB server, you will need to create a pop3 email to link to your device, and have your company forward all your exchange email to your pop3 email.
This is so large companys must 'pay' a few grand to host a Blackberry server and thus have the email all go through fine..
If your company does not wish to do this, you must sneak around it the 'Blackberry Internet Solution' way...
If your issue is resolved, put a checkmark in the green box that contains the resolution.
    OR
If it was just/or also really helpful - Give it a Kudos.. Go on Mate.. Help the rest of the clueless blackberry user world find their answer too..

  • IOS 8.1 and Skype online problem

In all my iDevices with IOS 8.1 they have a problem to stay online. After the lid of iPad Air is closed the Skype will go to offline status within some seconds. Same problem with iPad 2, iPad Mini and iPhone 4S. Only iPhone 4 with IOS 7 is working normaly.
Is there some setting which I have change to get Skype to stay online all the time, when it is loaded on background?

To resolve this issue, on your Apple device, go to Settings, General, Background App Refresh. Make sure the refresh is turned ON and Skype app in the same screen below is set to ON. If you have the main refresh switch OFF or the Skype app set to OFF, the app will go offline as it cannot synch your profile (status) to the server in real time.
You can control and set other apps to automatic refresh or turn them off individually in the same screen.
    Enjoy

  • Adobe reader and exchange email not working after update

I updated to Safari 5.1.1 and Security Update 2011-006 via Software Updates today.
This rendered my .PDF plugin completely useless so I uninstalled that and tried the built in version, which works for all form input but will not allow me to submit the form!
Also my exchange email quite working.
I have deadlines I NEED to get done using in browser .PDF support w/ the ability to submit.
    Any suggestions?

I responded to the other post with a solution to this, user I troubleshooted was on Exchange 2013
I came across this issue today. Email appears to be sent but nothing  shows up in the sent items or the recipient mailbox. I powered off and  on the iphone and tried to send again and this time got a message  sending error and it kept retrying. I went into the advanced settings of  the exchange email account and turned S/MIME on and the email got sent.  I then turned S/MIME off again and emails continued to be sent  normally.

  • IOS7 and Exchange Email Accounts

Is there a fix for iOS7 and Exchange accounts? None of our exchange accounts are working on our iPhones that have been updated to the most recent iOS7.
I have iOS 7.0.2 on my iPhones and running Exchange 2010.

No. We didn't change a thing. Maybe you don't have the right ports open on your firewall...
    ActiveSync needs TCP ports 443, 990, 999, 5720, 5678-5679, and 26675 open. You may also need 80, 143, 110, and 25 open.

  • Software update and Exchange email

My exchange email makes my Z10 not work. It was working fine until I updated the software. It makes it so that I can't make or receive phone calls..
I removed the exchange email and the phone worked fine.. I am confused

    Hi “scumqueen”
The first thing you should do is verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
Also, make sure you have enough available disk space (several GB).
The file format used by Mail changed drastically in Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). Mail 2.x knows about the old data format and can import mailboxes created by Mail 1.x, but Mail 1.x knows nothing about the new data format used by Mail 2.x.
Mail’s mailboxes are located in ~/Library/Mail/. Although *.mbox packages appear to be files in Mac OS X 10.3, they’re actually folders just like in Mac OS X 10.4. In the Finder, ctrl-click on an *.mbox package and choose Show Package Contents from the contextual menu to see the files it contains.
For each mailbox, Mail 1.x stores all the messages in a single file in standard mbox format (the mbox file within the *.mbox folder/package), whereas Mail 2.x stores messages in individual *.emlx files within a Messages folder that Mail 1.x knows nothing about.
What you can see in Mail 1.x now is the mail that was there when you upgraded to Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). Mail 2.x converts mailboxes to the new format without removing the files used by Mail 1.x — see Mac OS X 10.4 Mail: Some mailbox files used by Mac OS X 10.3 are not deleted after importing.
You need something like emlx to mbox Converter or Emailchemy to convert the *.emlx files to standard mbox format in order to be able to import them (as Other / Standard mbox) in Mail 1.x.
Alternatively, upgrading to Mac OS X 10.4 should make the mail stored in the new *.emlx format (which Mail 1.x doesn’t recognize) to be available again.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

  • Sending and receiving email problem

for three months I have been unable to receive and send emails.  Is this just a storage problem and if so is there an alternative to buying more storage space?

  • Has anyone solved the iPod touch and Comcast email problem?

The reason I got a touch is to check email when traveling. As of a few weeks ago, I could no longer do this. The comcast.net page now requires Flash and directs me to the install page (which I cannot download to the touch). I asked about this at the Apple Store and the touch doesn't have/cannot have Flash.
Has anyone figured out how to get past the Flash page to just sign in and get email? I am going around with Comcast about this -- they continue to mix up the iPhone and the touch. I will post if I get a solution from them. In the meantime, can anyone help?

If you do NOT have the January Software Update, you must use the Webmail for Comcast. from Safari, type in http://mobilebeta.comcast.net works as advertised.
If you have purchase the January Software update:
    Click 'Mail' Application
    Click 'Other'
    POP Information
'Name' is whatever name you want to call the account
    'Address' is you email address
'Description' Whatever you want to call the account
    Incoming Mail Server
    Host Name = mail.comcast.net
User Name = [Your email address]
Password = [Your password] THIS IS CASE SENSITIVE
    Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
    Host Name: smtp.comcast.net
User Name = [Your email address]
Password = [Your password] THIS IS CASE SENSITIVE
It is really easy: just followed comcast for Outlook link
    http://www.comcast.net/help/faq/index.jsp?faq=EmailOutlook17742
Looks a lot nicer than in the web.
If you make any errors or need to change anything, go to home, then settings, then Mail

  • Lost contacts, calendar events and exchange email

All of my contacts disappeared. All of my calendar events disappeared. All of my exchange email stopped working. Why? What is an easy fix for a non-geek? How can one prevent it from occurring again?

It would default to whatever account you have set for default. If you were using Exchange, it would sync to that. However, the settings for syncing are set up in iTunes. You would need to check to see what settings were in iTunes for syncing the information. It could be a supported application on the computer, or a cloud service as I said earlier.
On my personal phone, it will default to my iPhone calendar which I sync with Outlook on my computer. I can select the Exchange account if I want, but my default is what I sync with Outlook.
