IOS 8 wifi 5 GHz

After upgrading to ios 8.2 connection of my iPad air using 5 GHz  wifi become very unstable. I don't have this problem with iOS 7.
My other devices connected without any problem. It should be the problem with iOS 8.02, any ways to fix it?
The sensitivity of the touch screen decreased also. Anybody with the same problem And how to fix it?

I had the same problem on my iPhone 5S. The second step of this article http://osxdaily.com/2014/09/22/ios-8-wi-fi-problems-fix/ fixed my iPhone.

  • IOS WiFi profile

I have deployed a WiFi profile to an  iOS device which for whatever reason doesn't work. I now need to remove it as it is preventing me from joining our corporate WiFi through the traditional method. Technet advises that removing the deployment (which
i have) will not remove the profile and that it must be removed manually. However, in the profile section i do not have the option to do this. Any ideas without having to remove the entire management profile?
On a separate note, when changing a setting in the configuration item is anyone else finding that they are waiting for hours for the change to be reflected on the device if at all?

I know this is old but I’m trying to clean up old posts. Did you ever solve this? If so it would be good if you could post the solution to assist others. If not, at this stage,
as nobody has answered, I would recommend that you call Intune support.
You will find your local Intune support number here

  • Airport extreme - erratic connection, particularly iOS wifi syncing

My Airport Extreme (most recent model) appears to have erractic wifi connections.
I originally thought it was just borderline signals as the Apple TV is quite far, and the MacBook Pro (2009) moves around the house.
But with the introduction of wifi syncing for iOS I'm finding devices dropping off and becoming visible again even a few few from the Airport Extreme. It seems to happen with all devices simulataneously.
At least most of the time I still appear to have a wifi connection from the devices, but iTunes and iDevice can't see each otehr
The new Airport utility has also been unable to locate the Airport extreme, even though my iPhone reported that it had a wifi connection.
I also believe I'm losing the wifi connection periodically as I've seen my iPhone report 3G data usage during the middle of the night (sometimes 10's of MB while streaming Pandora).
I reset the Airport Extreme this morning and all devices became immediately visible in iTunes and started syncing. It also became visible in Airport Utility
I haven't seen any problems with the Mac Pro connected via ethernet.
    Devices
    Airport Extreme
    Mac Pro (ethernet)
    rest wireless
    Apple TV (1st gen)
    MacBook Pro (2009)
    iPhone 3GS
    iPhone 4
    iPhone 4s
    iPod touch (2nd gen)
occasional work machine (Dell runing XP)

I found the problem ! Just changing the channels solved the problem. (not related to upgrade but to more and more wireless networks in the street.). So if you have the problem try to change the channels of the 2,4 network (see help of airport extreme - interferences with other networks)

  • IOS wifi issues...

Overnight my iOS devices (iPad 1, mini, iPhones 5 and 4) are struggling with my wifi network (BT HomeHub 3 with various extenders around the home).
It will show as connected but then not allow an internet connection. (e.g. on Twitter it won't download anymore tweets). Whilst in safari, trying to access a website a box appears asking for a username and password (almost as if you are logging in to a private network) even for sites where no such exists or I have been asked for one before.
This is very perplexing. It does not seem to be the router, even by turning Homehub off and on again, it still persists. Yet, it doesn't happen all the time, sometimes I can access apps, safari at the same point in the house fine, then next minute it won't work.
There seems to be no trigger to this... I've not updated my devices with new iOS and as far as I'm aware there has been no BT update...
    Any advice welcome.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • IOS Wifi SSID configuration displaying a subtitle in settings description cell

Does anyone know how to configure a wifi connection in order to have the following description in the settings (a cell including a title and a subtitle).

I have noticed the same underline / under title / subtext on KPN Fon networks in The Netherland, showing KPN WiFi.
No clue at all how the show this. Though in my case I have actually an app installed monitoring that network SSID. Joining will also start this app to act.

  • Ios wifi greyed out - tried reset network settings - http auto - NOT WORKING

I tried setting WIFI HTTP to AUTO and it worked for awhile but now is totally greyed out. I cannot use my Iphone 4S but will return to store later today as they almost always are very nice and will know the best practice solution. Iphone 4S is 32GB and a little over a month old.

If you still can't turn Wi-Fi on, please contact Apple for support and service options.

  • New Ipad 4th ios 6.0.1 connect lost wifi game center facetime

I ditched my old ipad that had wifi issues when I updated from 6.0 (which worked flawlessly) to latest ios. I gave up after working on every fix possible from Jan 2013 to April; forget network, unique ssid, changed encryption from WEP to WPA2, and on and on. Nothing worked, so I sold it.
I just set up a new ipad, came with ios 6.0.1. Tested game center last night - SAME issue, "connection has been lost, trying to reconnect..." - but it never does. I can not finish one game -works for about 4-5 minutes. I'm ready to send this back and just buy a windows tablet. It appears nothing has changed with these ios wifi issues.
Granted, I have an older router Linksys wrt54g connected to an old pc running xp sp3 - but my son's new macbook pro has NO wifi issues, neither does our 3 iphones, or 2 itouches. Seems it is just the ipad that has chronic wifi problems.
Should I bother trying to get a new router and testing?? But really - why should I have to spend more money to get this ipad connecting solidly to wifi without dropping the connection?
Please don't recommend doing an update to latest ios - that created a whole slew of issues on my old ipad, battery drain, etc.

Just installed IOS 8 to iphone 5 and cannot connect to WI FI. Sometimes connects and when I begin to use the phone ot drops out.
I have attempted all the regular trouble shoots such as resets, complete restore and reinstallation of ios 8. no change.

I don't have an answer for you but from my experience iOS WiFi syncing has always been a hit and miss affair (more miss than hit I'm afraid). I have gotten to the stage where I rarely use the WiFi sync. It is just quicker, easier and much less stressful to use the USB cable. I am having the same issues with all the iOS devices in our family which includes various models of iPhone, iPad and an iPod Touch and have been having them since WiFi syncing was introduced (in iOS5 ???). And then I have not even mentioned my favorite iTunes syncing messages: "Waiting for items to copy" and "Waiting for changes to be applied"!
iTunes is always extremely quick and eager to pick up the devices but as soon as I click on sync it shows "Looking for iDevice" and then the device disappears. I have found that initiating the sync from the Settings app on the device prevents this issue.
It does however seem as if it is worse with Windows 7. I did not have so many issues with my previous Windows Vista PC.
Sorry I cannot be of any help.

  • To everyone that has "server not responding" when wifi is connected, read.

For the 2 years I've had my 3GS I have had a issue with wifi and my Belkin n+. I replaced the router 2 times with same model and had a few iPhone exchanges. I don't see this as a router issue entirely because no other device besides iPhones have a problem.
After 20 minutes or so using wifi or it just being connected and me not locking the screen, it suddenly stops responding. Wifi signal still there, settings says it's connected. Different sys apps tell me my local ip but can't determine external during this time. I used inet to ping the router when it's in this state, no response.
The only way to fix it is to toggle wifi off then back on.
I think I found a solution for the people having this issue, I hope one of these days apple actually fixes the bug. I believe it's related to wpa2 and aes.
    SSID no spaces A-z characters
Mac address filtering is useless and provides no security
Wpa2 with aes causes the problem. I even shortened my passcode to 12345678, still had problem.
Setting ip, subnet, dns settings manually instead of dhcp did not solve problem.
Resetting settings On both router and iPhone did not work.
Router is latest firmware and again no issues with anything besides iOS products.
Wifi is set to b/g only. 20mhz band only, router gives option of 20/40 mode even if n is off.
iOs devices are not compatible with 40mhz, make sure this is off.
I determined it's not a dns issue by trying ip's including my local router ip. It failed to connect even though the iPhone says it's connected.
What is working so far, I changed my security to WPA and TKIP and so far it hasn't happened, but I'll will keep on testing and won't turn off my screen or disconnect from wifi. So far using wifi 2 hours straight no issue.
This issue has been in every update from 3.0 to 4.3. It seems from searching there are incompatibilities with routers and certain security settings. My professional guess as a programmer is there is a bug in the iOS wifi firmware or driver when negotiating and reauthenticating under certain situations, that is why it happens like clock work.
I also noticed this issue does not affect the 3G because it uses a different chip. I'm not sure if the iPad uses the same chip as the 3GS and I am pretty sure the iPhone 4 uses a different chip.
So if you reply please post your device model, router model and wifi settings and see of we can help ourselves and apple find a fix for this issue, because if it's not fixed by June, I doubt I will get a iPhone 5

So far so good, I have had it connected since my last post and did not recent the wifi, go out of range, or turn off my screen (when turning off the screen, wifi usually turns off to save power). So far everytime I checked, it loaded pages right up.
Thanks for letting me know of the firmware update, it was last updated over a year ago and I last checked in Jan, I thought they were done with updates. Looks like it is finally fixed, if anything changes I will post back.

  • HT4993 Cannot connect to home wifi

I have the iphone 4S and I'm really getting tired of not being able to connect to my home wifi. My husband has the Samsung Galaxy S3 and has no problems whatsoever. I bought this phone for that specific reason amongst others but this is getting ridiulous. I'm about to take it to the Apple store and tell them they can have it back. Anyone else going through this???

There are a few posters with that problem, Angie...this can be either an incompatibility with the router or a problem with the iPhone or iDevice.  Start with the Troubleshooting iOS WiFi article, see if that helps.  If you are having issues with the WiFi block on the iPhone being greyed out, see this article.
Are you having problems only with the home WiFi or all WiFi?
You might also try a reboot of the iPhone by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if that appears.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings

Today my iPhone 4 will not pick up ant wifi

You could look at this link for iOS wifi troubleshooting http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
Or you could just turn your phone wifi on and then off. If that doesnt work, try switching it off and restarting. but those are not really guaranteed to work though. The link should help in the least anyway.
    hope this helped,

  • VZ Contact Transfer will not work on Wi-Fi; Synch with iTunes sets up mail

VZ Contact Transfer goes into a loop with Verizon iPhone connected to your Wi-Fi and does not work.
Your wi-fi network will come up right after registering VZ iPhone. You could wait until later to allow it to connect.
Otherwise, disconnect router to force iPhone onto Verizon 3G network and proceed. If you click the change phone number button, it will get you a new access code to your old Verizon contacts from Verizon back up. (Back up before signing up on iPhone)
Took me hours of fooling around to learn this on another bulletin board.
Also after hours of fooling around to set up mail, synched iPhone thru iTunes to mail, calendar, etc and the email accounts set themselves up.
Hope this saves you some time
    Enjoy!
