IOS4 Battery Problem Solution

Simply double tap the home button, press and hold on any app until a red circle with the minus symbol appears. Then just press each minus symbol until all apps are closed.

The vast majority of Apple and 3rd party Apps in the multitask bar are simply suspended and not drawing battery power. When you re-enable them, they pick up where they left off. That's the beauty of Apples multitask solution. Steve Jobs would prefer folks just leave them alone.
And yes, some Apps, like iPod, GPS, and Pandora will continue running when not active but these are the exceptions.

FYI: I tried a couple of solutions the the battery not charging problem. My wife let the unit discharge for a couple of weeks and then the battery would not charge. It did not even register in the device. I applied 5VDC across the battery terminals. Nothing. I applied 0VDC across the terminals. Nothing. I put it in the freezer for /2 hour. BINGO! Hope this helps someone.

You may have permanently damaged the battery though. You should *never* freeze a Lithium Ion battery.

  • Any solution to the X battery problem?

    Hi all,
I´m one more of the affected for the X battery problem after the firmware upgrade. Is there any solution to the problem rather than sending the macbook to apple?
    Thanks in advance, Simon.

it's definitely NOT the firmware update, as evidenced by the fact that i haven't installed either of the two recent firmware updates yet.
see the discussion in the macbook PRO threads.
they're sending me a new battery for free, and they'll do the same for you.
this is happenning to so many mb's and mbp's that it's becoming an expensive issue for apple :o(.

  • I have found a solution to 1 (of the many) battery problems!

hey, for the last couple of weeks I have been experimenting with my ipod mini (4gb) last month it had battery problems (what's new?) and it shut itself off every couple of seconds even just minutes of taking it off charge! so I searched this web site for answers, everyone recommended re setting it, I decided to not reset it anyway (as many other people said it usually does nothing)also because my friend said he had the same problem and in the end it just fixed for no particular reason! my brothers friend also said this, so I decided to 'test' my battery, for about 3 days in a row I used it everyday and charged every night, all that happened was the same thing, it said it had no battery power left, so next... I left if for about 5 days, charged it and since then it has not stopped.
so in the end its kinda left to common sense, don't charge it every single day! let it sit for about 2-3 days every week or so... my experiment may not be correct... but it worked for me, if it doesn't work for you then it may be something else that fixed it, sorry if this doesn't help...
    good luck!

Probably because you were giving advice about the battery that conflicts with what is in Apple's own support pages. There is usually a link at the bottom of a locked post that gives a specific reason for the closure, but the link in your message seems to be broken, so this is just speculation.
Apple publishes a web page devoted to iPod batteries at http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipods.html

    Hi,
There is a solved thread on this page about this error. The solution is to replace the battery because its storage capacity is low. The right part number can be found in a maintenance and service guide. Go to Support and Drivers page, enter your model and look in User Guides section.

  • Anybody that has ever had, or still have battery problems....

Please join me in finding a solution.
Lets all converse in this thread about battery problems. I Have noticed many many many battery and power problems going unresolved in this discussion forum and I think if we all get organized into one thread and work together we may find a solution.
If you haven't read of my battery and power problem before here is the run down.
-battery won't charge(0% and then eventually "No Batteries Availiable")
-Battery is NEW. It is valid(works in other iBooks).
-Its not the DC-in board. No, no... I replaced that and it did nothing, it probably won't help you either.
-I've done all the pointless stuff.(Resetting PMU, PRAM, NVRAM, Deep Reset PMU)
-Battery is Charged(Used my friends iBook). Yet my iBook will not power on from the battery.
Now. I know many iBook owners are having the same problem. I have worked countless hours on this problem and I am never going to give up.
Now throughout searching countless forums of Battery Problems I have gathered some observations.(All these observations are only taken from cases similar to mine)
-They have the same problems I have stated.
-All the Resets in the world don't help them
-Some of them mention a noise coming from the iBook.
-Some of them mention buying third party power Adapters.
-The thread usually ends with them asking more questions and replies never come so they give up.
-They all usually go unresolved or Solved in the case that they just buy a new laptop.
So taking that I am pretty sure that this problem needs to be solved. I have been giving it a good try but without information I just cannot get too far.
Any of you people with the same problem as me... We should all compare certain statistics and symptoms to see if we can zero in on what the problem is.
    These are my suspicions.
I purchased My Power-Adapter from Ebay. It looked legit and everything and it provides the iBook with power pretty well. Yet I stumbled across something. It says on the Power Adapter that it is a 65(watt) Power Adapter. But when I check in the System Profiler, This is what it reads:
    AC Charger Information:
    AC Charger (Watts): 45
    Connected: Yes
Now why would the Power Adapter say 65(watts) but when I check the stats on my iBook it receives 45(watts). I have checked all the stats of these iBooks and I know that they need 65(watts) to function properly. Some people say 45w will power an iBook fine but I think this is why the battery won't charge. The power Adapter I bough online clearly stated that it will work correctly on my model and it Even says 65w on the adapter. Remember the faulty batteries? Could people be possibly making faulty power adapters and selling them now too? My friend has moved so I cannot test his "Apple" adapter to see if it works.
I also think this may be the cause of these processor sounds(That are stupidly diagnosed as HD failures) that some people like me get. I found out if I turn the processor down to "reduced" the sound goes away. Maybe the "whizzing" sound could be a capacitor being overworked so it can provide the processor with power or the processor itself but I really think these issues are related.
In saying that... This is what I want. Anybody out there that has the same(or similar) problems as I do, please do this:
-State the issues you are having with your iBook.
-Go to System Profiler and Under Hardware click Power, copy all of those statistics in the right pane and paste them in your reply.
-Say what kind of iBook(or Powerbook) you have.
-Say what kind of battery and what kind of Power adapter you have.
-Ask for other statistics that you think might help you.
-If you have any ideas of what the problem is please tell me.
-And if you already know a solution please tell us all.
We can all tackle this problem if we work together.

I can't speak to all of your problems, but there are a few things that may help.

You are incorrect about this. The adapter that shipped with iBooks, initially, was a 45-watt model. 45 watts is all it takes to properly run the iBook and charge its battery. The iBook registers the adapter as 45 watts because the iBook only takes the amount of power that it needs. A Powerbook needs the full 65 watts in order to run the computer and charge the battery simultaneously.
Did you replace your DC-in board yourself? Has it ever worked since the DC-in board was replaced? Are you sure you got it plugged in properly?
Yours is acting exactly the way my husband's did when his DC-in board needed to be replaced. That is, it would work from a fully charged battery, but would not charge the battery. A DC-in board replacement was the fix for his, and sounds like that would be the fix for yours, too. If you did it yourself before, maybe you need to either try it again (you could have received another bad one), or send it off to have someone else do it.
    Good luck.

  • A different BATTERY problem

I noticed the last week that i have a battery problem. Not similar like the issue of less than 1000mAh which can see via Nokia Diagnostics.
My Lumia 800 shows over 1500mAh at Diagnostics but shuts down at 30% percent!!!!
This happened to me the last THREE continuous times.
Is this because software affects my Lumia 800 too? Can i go to my local Nokia Care and ask for a replacement with a new Lumia 800? And how can i prove that my Lumia 800 has battery problem, if via Diagnostics my full charge capacity is over 1500mAh?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well i updated my Lumia 800 at a Nokia Care, because it was impossible to wait it via Zune.
I have good and bad news.
The good is that my phone now doesnt shut down at 30%.
The bad news are that before update i had over 1500mAh full charge capacity. After and before the charging i had 1480mAh...All good until now. But after every charging, the full charge capacity continuously reduced.
For example, at the second charging i had 1400mAh,
    at the 3rd i had 1360mAh,
    at the 4rth i had 1250mAh,
    at the 5fth i had 1145mAh.
Today i ll do my sixth charging.
Also, the remaining time has decreased dramatically. My Lumia 800 cannot be without charging over 15 hours now. Before the update and with the problem, from 100% to 30% battery i had autonomy of over 36 hours.
I contacted this morning, the official Nokia customer care at Bulgary, i am from Greece. A very kind man speaking greek of course told me that my problem will be send to Headquarters at Finland. I asked for a replacement, but they told told me that the steps is to send my Lumia for a first look at the central service and maybe fix it. As my phone will be serviced, i will have a Nokia 5800 replacement!!!! Oh my GOD. I paid 485 euros to have a 5800? For how many days? 10? 20? A month? I do not want any fix. I accept that my phone is defective. It is not rare at mass production. It happens. I want NOW a new Lumia 800 and i do not want to go again at a Nokia Care. A want an easy life with my Lumia 800.
I also told that at other Europe countries, Nonia Care stores have replaced the problematic phones. Why they do not do the same at my country?
Will anyone pay me the time that i lose from my job, running for my Nokia Lumia 800?
    Αn indignant Nokia customer,
    Giannis Sotiriadis, Greece.

      Windows XP

Jeff Bryan is right… absolutly right… But, let me give you my experience… I had, and I wrote this post two days ago, a big Battery problem… I repeat : When I inadvertendly updated my iPod Mini first generation into the new one (1.4, then 1.4.1 in order to correct the bug), my iPod started to bug… The bug was : after 30 minutes, or 1 seconds (as soons as I turned it on), or 10 minutes, — in few words it depended on the iPod —, it cuts violently off… Imagine my head hearing a sudden cut-off whereas you were listening a The Ruts "Jah war", or the Fall "New face in ****" (that were my face which was in ****, in fact), or a Joy Division's "The Kill", or a Clap your Hand say Yeah… I don't know… Imagine my face… Well I posted plenty of posts in French Mac discussions, then in Apple Discussions, in order to find solutions… I received great advices from for instance Jeff Bryan, and of course french iPod users… But nobody understood why the update software was the origin of the battery problem… I called Apple France, they answered to me that there was not a Battery problem (they were right because before updating, the iPod used to run for 7 hours)… They adviced me to reset, reset, untill it corrects the bug… That I did… But, in fact, I wrongly reseted… and I was able to correct it… yesterday, I was pretty upset seeing all around me with their Nano, their Video, or their Photo, OR their MINI∞ whatever… I reseted one more time and suddenly, a page with all languages (the famous first page you have when you just formated it), which meant that I correctly reseted… I was very ashamed because, till yesterday I wrongly reseted it… Now… after a little bug, it works… I succeeded to get over the third (because after updating it into the 1.4, 1.4.1, it cut off after a third iPod listenning… and even though I went back with the 1.1, then the 1.3, it cut off after a third iPod listenning… What a stress !!)… So if you are sure that this is not a Battery problem, I mean if before this problem you usually had no problem battery, I advice you to reset it carefully…
I would like to thank Jeff Bryan for his great advices…

  • Are you having battery problems on iOS 6 (iPhone 4S)

Hello fellow Apple device users. Ever since I updated to iOS 6 my iPhone 4S's batery took a blow. The phone is barely a month old. On iOS 5.1.1 I had terrific battery life with battery usage being around 6hours and 30minutes average. Notifiactions, 3G, nice brightness (3 fourths of the bar). I had nearly 12 hours of standby as well. I take care of my battery (not always leaving the phone plugged up, I let the battery go down to 0% quite often (twice a week) and give it a full 100% charge. But now I only get like 4hours and 30 minutes of usage and 10 hours of standby.
Here are my current settings (same as on iOS 5.1.1)
    I turned off diagnostics.
Service location is activated for only apps that I need it for, Siri, Maps, Find my Phone
3G and iCloud activated (mail, reminders, find my phone, contacts)
Notifications activated for apps that I want (about 7 apps in the notification center)
Is anyone having these battery problems as well? I just lost 10% with 32 minutes of usage ( read my messages, twitter timeline) and only 40 minutes of standby.
    Any solutions?
    Thanks all
    Chiefzelda
