IOS6 custom font issue

I have build an web application which running on Ipad2,3 with IOS5.1.1 having no problem.
After update to IOS6, some custom font sometime were loaded incorrectly. The text on the screen was loaded as the default font of IOS6.
The custom font "Trade Gothic Bold No.2" is used in my web application.
Does anyone having the same problem with the font like me?
Please give me an advise for this issue.

For the record, the console did not report any missing fonts or anything similar.
It finally started working, but I did something a little different this time, in terms of clearing the cache.
I usually just deleted the 6.0 directory in cache:
...username\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache and delete the 6.0 directory. Since doing it this way, I have not encountered an issue when I want to redeploy my application on the same machine.
I would also sometimes delete the trusted.certs file for good measure. It's probably not necessary, but it's easy enough to do.
This time around, I deleted the 6.0 directory in the \SystemCache directory. I actually did not realize that this needed to be done. The fact that I did not have to do this on my Win7 machine makes me wonder why I had to do it on the XP machine. But either way, it's working.
Maybe someone would like to comment on Java's caching system and if there are any differences between Win7 and XP?

  • Custom Font issue - Works in Win7 not in XP

    I followed Rakesh's guide over here: [http://blogs.sun.com/rakeshmenonp/entry/javafx_custom_fonts]
My file/folder structure is identical to his guide's.
I've tested to see if the actual fonts.mf file was actually working on my Win7 box, where I actually changed the font name to gibberish (which forces the font to default to a system standard font) and back again to the font name I specified in my fonts.mf file, which works fine.
However, when I launch my application under XP, the font does not seem to register. Of course, I made sure to delete any certs/cache.

  • Custom fonts issue

I followed the instructions for embedding fonts to My edge project. As long as I need to embed one font everything is OK, but when I try to embed another font there is A name conflicts inside the project folder. Both CSS files has the same name. I thought if I will rename one of the files it will be OK, but it is not.
    TIA

  • How Do I get Help with a Major Customer Service Issue?

    Hello,
I am a Pro Care member and I took my Macbook Pro in to one on the local stores to ask them about a font issue that I was experiencing. One one the Genius guys came over and asked me a few questions and told me that this wasn't a big deal at all, that they just needed to reinstall my default fonts and that it should take maybe 45 minutes. This was at 4:30pm. Six hours later they came back to be to tell me that they had corrected the font issue but all of my user data and applications were lost! It was if I had a brand new Macbook Pro! This was a Friday evening. I was told to take my laptop to a company called Data Savers the next day to have this company try to restore my data/applications.
I took my laptop to Data Savers on Saturday and they told me that they would need to keep it for a day. I went back to pick it up on Sunday and I was given an external drive that had "raw restored data" on it. When I had been speaking with the store manager about the situation and he wanted me to provide him with a list of software that was on the machine. So, when I got home from picking up my laptop from Data Savers I started it and all I got was an icon of a circle with a slash through it!! I called the guys at Data Savers and told them about this and they asked to bring the laptop back to them on Monday. I did. After running some diagnostics on the machine I was told that my hard drive was "toast!"
Needless to say I was both upset and distraught! The store manager told me (in emails that I still have) that he understands how upset that I was about coming in for a font related issue and three days later being told that my laptop was no more that a big paper weight. He said (in these emails) that he would replace my laptop and he would try to get me the latest versions of the software that I had to make up for the business that I had lost in the last few days due to the fact that I didn't have have my machine.
The store manager then called me back on a Tuesday and said that his superiors had told him that he cold not do what he said that he would do. Obviously, this increased my level of frustration. I was able to speak to this manager, think it may have been some sort of regional manager and after indicating that I had emails of the store manager acknowledging the facts of the matter and stating that he was very sorry for what happen, the regional manager said that she wanted me to send her copies of the emails. I told her that the store manager had copies of everything. She told me that she would get back to me. This was Wednesday afternoon. That same evening the store manager called me to say that "because I was lead to believe that Apple would replace my laptop, they would do so. I was told to be be at the store around noon on the following day (Thursday) and to bring my laptop. I was told that they would replace it.
When I got to the store on Thursday, the manager came up to me and shook my hand and said that he was sorry for all the trouble and inconvenience. He went on to say that before he could replace my laptop that I would have to sign a document saying that I agree that they were not responsible for anything that had happened in the past six days!!
The fact is, that isn't true and they know it. I have the email to prove it. I didn't sign the document. the next day because I could no longer afford to lose money and clients I went into another Apple store and purchased in brand new system!
The fact is that I believe that Apples products are far superior to PC products. I was told by some to never buy from Apple again and tell everyone that I know about my experiences with this particular store. All I want is for Apple to do the right thing! Just replace my Macbook Pro like they said they were going to do. They don't have to provide any software updates, just do the right thing and replace my machine!!
Can anyone tell me if they have had a similar experience and if so, how it was resolved? Who in the corporate office can I talk to about this to get it resolved? Are there and Apple insiders out there that can help me resolve this situation? I would like to avoid having to take legal action if at all possible.
I look forward to any help that you can provide.

  • Using custom fonts in iBooks Author

I have a book in South Asian (Indic) script. The encoding is Unicode. I wanted to see how different fonts would look on iPad. Using iBook Author i created two different versions of the book. One used Gujarati MT, Apple supplied font. The second used open source TTF font. It checked out fine by MacOS when I installed it. The rendering of conjuncts (which would use additional glyph present in the font file) on iBook Author  looks good. When I use "preview" function of iBook Author to see how the content would look on iPad, conjuncts dont use special glyph but only standard character (I guess GSUB is not utilized). I tried the same experiment with Arial Unicode MS and Shruti both are standard fonts provided under Windows. it appears that only Apple supplied fonts have correct glyph substitution on iPad.
Is there a way to fix it?
If the issue is with iBook Author, I can use another software. My book is plain text so Author is an overkill. I was using it to test embedding of custom fonts because Author is easy to use.
If the issue is missing definition in the font that is required by iPad rendering engine, I can get the font author to enhance the font.
I attach four images. First two are from iBook Author where rendering is correct. The next two are from iPad where rendering using non Apple font is messed up.

    rajeshfrompalo alto wrote:
Is comment about enhancing the font to support AAT still relevant? Are you saying that iOS needs those AAT extension that macOS does not need? Is this mostly around MORX table?
iOS (and OS X) comes with two Gujarati fonts, Gujarati MT and Gujarati Sangam MN.  So the easiest thing to do is to use one of those.   Other platforms will probably have their own default Gujarati fonts with different names.
If you want to embed a different Gujarati font in your .ibooks format book, then you will indeed have to convert that font from OpenType to AAT before iBooks will display it correctly.   It's not true that OS X no longer needs AAT Indic fonts -- Pages for example still cannot use Opentype Indic fonts.
To convert an Opentype Indic font to an AAT Indic font I think someone will have to add a morx table along the lines of what is contained in Gujarati MT.
Bear in mind that iBooks Author creates a format that can only be read on an iPad (unless you want to export to PDF).  If you want to produce books for all platforms and readers, then you need to use .epub format and a different app, like Pages or Indesign.   With epub format you would probably not normally try to embed fonts but just  rely on the reader to supply whatever Gujarati font is already on the device.

  • Keynote to ipad, with custom fonts and graphics

Have a keynote presentation we've spent a lot of time on.
    Custom fonts, graphics.
I've given up trying to import it into keynote on the iPad. Fonts alone are a big issue.
So, trying converting it to quicktime, but then it plays as a movie, there is no simple, elegant solution to pause, or tap through the presentation.
    Or, am I missing something?!
    Appreciate any help.

    Hi, i found this "solution".
It's impossible to upload new fonts on iPad, but you can convert your slides in pictures and upload your new presentation on iPad.
I dont' like it ... but it's the one way i found.

  • Font issue with DW

I'm getting close to finishing my first site.  I recently went online to test it out.  I noticed on the desktop everything seemed fine.  When I looked at it on my ipad I had a bunch of font issues.  That reminded me of what I heard about building font stacks.  I looked into it and I must be missing something because no matter what I do I can't seem to get the fonts to   work on an outside machine.  I'm using DW cs5

    What John is saying is:
A computer can only display fonts that are installed on it. Anything else will display as unicode characters (looks like heiroglyphics) or if the system can do it, will be substituted with a default font (usually Tahoma or Arial).Try writing a document in WordPad using a custom font, and the delete the font from your system. When you open the document again you will either see an error message warning that the font is unavailable or heiroglyphics where your text was. Browsers don't give any warnings like a word processor does though.
I have over 4800 different fonts installed so the odds that I'll run into something on a webpage I can't view, in the designed font, are pretty slim.
The odds of the average user (whose computer only has about 246 fonts installed) seeing your custom font (calamity teen btn) are about one in a billion. Instead, the browser will substitute a "default" font for it, (usually Tahoma or Arial).
If you are building something for JUST your personal use and you are the only one who will ever see it, use whatever fonts you want. Your system has them installed and can display them in your custom designed webpages. More power to you. BUT...
If you are building it for the web (and over six billion potential visitors), stick to the standard web fonts.
Sure, it won't look as fancy as what you've just designed, but at least people will be able to see the fonts and the layout won't be all screwed up when Firefox, IE, Opera, Chrome or Safari makes a substitution.

  • Custom fonts on iOS app using AIR 3.9

we are building an app for iOS using AIR 3.9 where we have to display the text using different fonts which are not available on iOS 5 or later. To fix this issue we have found a solution using XCode via ANE where by using "CTFontManagerRegisterGraphicsFont" class we can download the font from a location and register it on the device(working on mac using simulator ).  But when we are packaging the ANE with AIR 3.9, it gives us the error which says that:-
Error occurred while packaging the application:
    Undefined symbols for architecture armv7:
      "_CTFontManagerRegisterGraphicsFont", referenced from:
          ___setPath_block_invoke in libnet.example.download.a(IOSFontLib.o)
ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture armv7
Compilation failed while executing : ld64
can anyone suggest where we are going wrong!
    thanks in advance

According to this post, using CTFontManagerRegisterGraphicsFont should still work on iOS too:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4942449/ios-programmatically-add-custom-font-during-run time
since it requires the CoreText framework have you included the following option in your <linkerOptions> set in platform.xml?
    <option>-framework CoreText</option>

  • Can you work between mac based and pc based files using Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, etc. without any font issues?

I work for a print company and we are wondering if Creative Cloud eliminates the font issues from designing a project on a pc and then making changes on a mac later without font issues.

I should clarify a bit...If a customer sends us an InDesign file that they created on a pc and I open it on my mac, will I be able to load the pc fonts without any issues? I realize that if they are open type fonts I would be ok but how about any other fonts?

  • Slow Operation of IM Using Custom Font

I use a variation of this command in an application, and it has run sufficiently fast for years. However, with the current version of ImageMagick, it is extremely slow when I use a custom font (causing the application to hang disconcertingly). No errors are thrown, even with the -verbose tag. Does anyone know why IM is now so slow operating on a custom font, and if there is anything I can do to optimise the operation? Thanks.
With no font specified, this command runs in a tenth of a second:
    [tony@linux ~]$ start=$(date +%s%3N) ; convert -pointsize 24 caption:"Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet" pic.png ; echo `expr $(date +%s%3N) - $start` ms
    118 ms
With a custom font specified, the same command takes almost five seconds:
    [tony@linux ~]$ start=$(date +%s%3N) ; convert -font /usr/local/share/fonts/c/code2000.ttf -pointsize 24 caption:"Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet" pic.png ; echo `expr $(date +%s%3N) - $start` ms

  • Custom fonts not loading while Edge Animation inside an iFrame

Hi can someone help me with this strange problem? Custom fonts, specifically, Typekit fonts I used in my Edge Animate animation is not loading IE 11 when the animation is inside an iFrame. If you view the animation HTML directly on the browser, the fonts load perfectly fine.
Here is an example where the animation is inside an iFrame and part of a webpage where fonts are not loaded when using IE11.
    http://www.pandaequipment.com/test/contact.html
and here is the HTML file directly where fonts and loaded fine in IE 11
    http://www.pandaequipment.com/test/edgeanimate_assets/myhero/Assets/myhero.html
All the other browsers I tested don't have this problem.
Can someone tell me some ways to fix this in IE?

    Hi Keith,
I'm sorry that you ran into trouble with this.  I also saw this issue when I tested your site in Chrome on OS X 10.9, although the fonts worked on reload because they were then cached in the browser.
I suspect the the issue is in the "src" attribute on the iframe:
    iframe allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" src="edgeanimate_assets/myhero/Assets/myhero.html"
Would you try changing the src to a full path, and see if the fonts load into the iframe?
    iframe allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" src="http://www.pandaequipment.com/test/edgeanimate_assets/myhero/Assets/myhero.html"
Background:  Typekit gets the domain name from the browser referrer and uses it to check that the site matches the listing on your kit.  This is one of the security layers to make sure someone can't steal your Typekit fonts and use them on their own site.  When loading fonts into an iframe, the iframe referrer needs to match as well.
If the iframe referrer doesn't match or is blank, the behavior is browser-specific.  Some browsers will use the referrer of the parent page and so the fonts load, while others don't apply the fonts at all.
Setting the iframe src to the full URL should ensure that a referrer is sent, and may fix this issue.
Please give that a try, and let me know how it goes!  Thank you,

  • Photoshop CC 2014 font issues

I'm Not entirely sure why this is happening, or what's causing it, but photoshop cc 2014 is causing some serious issues with fonts on my documents. Up until this point my company has used Extensis Suitcase Fusion to activate fonts used throughout our project docs. The 2014 typekit update and addition is somehow conflicting with either photoshop or suitcase and in return setting a large portion of my fonts to it's default or regular weight. It seems like while suitcase is auto activating the necessary fonts, typekit is reading each of those weights as their own individual fonts. This might seem difficult to understand but in any case i would just like to know if there is a way to completely deactivate typekit and or remove it's involvement in my project documents, at this point it is resetting dozens of fonts on some very important project files. I'd much rather not be limited to just the fonts that adobe or typekit prefers.

    I still don’t have a clue…

  • PDF Format Oracle Reports font issue

My process is generating the batch oracle Reports.
    Their key map is:
    Key1: %* server=server1 userid=xxxs/xxx@xxxx report=D:\sample.rdf destype=file desformat=PDF
My process is calling IAS server to generate report. IAS ser is generating and saving the report in the specified location.Reports are running on the server locally and DESTYPE=FILE. So the Oracle Reports output is saved on the server itself. Whenever i open the report on my machine/server i have font issue. Some of the reports has very tiny font. It seems the reports generated by using oracle reports which is Arial Unicode font type is causing the problem. If any reports other then Arial Unicode font like Arial Westrn, those reports are fine. We have 1000s of reports. So we don't want to change each report font type. For me it seems the issue is with the font on the server. Is there anyway to ask App server use Arial Westrn if Arial Unicode not found. How to make these configuration changes in the server. Any suggestions please.

Maybe this helps or at least points you in some direction ...
Have a look at font aliasing when configuring Application Server : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/bi.1012/b14048/pbr_font.htm#i1006140
If your Application Server is located on Windows I would suggest to install the fonts there.
In Unix, this a more complex task.
