Ios7 background scaling

Just updated my ipad (the new ipad) to ios7, and my background was changed. The image I had is now zoomed in to the point where you can't see the full image. So, I go into my pictures, choose the image I want as a background, hit "set as background," and here is where the problem comes in. It says you can move and scale, but both are near impossible to do. The main problem is that when I try to "pinch" the image so I can zoom out and get it to the size I want, as soon as I take my fingers off the screen the image goes back to its original zoomed in size. Its frustrating, and it happens with any and all images. This is not to mention the incredible lagging that occurs between the original pinching and the actual image changing size, but I can live with that so long as I can actually scale the image. Is it just me?

this is because of the parlax feature (fake 3D) in iOS 7. you can disable this, a see your entire background, by going to Settings > General > Accessibilty > Reduce Motion. If you want to keep the paralax, you have to deal with the zoommed in photo.

    Where can I find the high quality iOS7 backgrounds (stars and dust in space) that Apple uses in its product photos?? I can't find official releases of these images anywhere on the web? Just interested in having a nice background!

    Do you mean you want to use them as background on your iPad? You can find them in settings > brightness & wallpaper > choose wallpaper > Apple wallpaper > stills (or dynamic).

  • Trouble with CSS background scaling

    Hi,
    Please take a look at the following page I am working on at
    the moment
    http://www.dpweddingphotography.co.uk/test.html
    I am trying to acheive the look of
    http://tomwickyphotography.com/index2.php?v=v1
    Is this possible in Dreamweaver using CSS/Java? When I reduce
    my browsers window and make it really narrow, up pops the white
    blank space at the bottom of the page which I am trying to avoid.
    You can see on the other site that when it gets to a certain point
    it stops scaling down. The same with it vertically also.
    Now I know this other site is done in flash but can it be
    done in dreamweaver and if so how please?
    Thanks
    Here's the code I am using for testing:

    Im not really sure I understand your question, but if you
    were to make this
    graphic (ContactSheet-001.jpg ) a background image and set it
    to repeat,
    would that not solve the issue?

  • Need help with Page Layout and Background Scaling

    hello, everyone.
    I am in the process of designing a new website for myself,
    and while I was researching nicely designed pages to use as
    inspiration, I stumbled upon this site:
    http://www.jeffsarmiento.com/
    obviously, the design is very impressive, but it also
    incorporates a lot of web mechanics that I have been trying to
    figure out, so I will use this page as an example.
    one thing I need help with is backgrounds. as you can see in
    the posted website, the creator used a seamlessly tiled paper
    texture to display the bulk of his content on. also make not of the
    pattern that is located to the left of the paper texture. how do I
    create seamless backgrounds like this that will scale to fit any
    amount of content or any resolution? I can't imagine that the guy
    that made that site created a new size background every time he
    made an update, so there has to be an easier way.
    the second thing that I am having trouble with is general
    site layout. I have read that most sites used series of invisible
    tables to organize there content, but when I open the source of
    this page in dreamweaver, he was using something different. div
    tags? should I be using these? who do I use them? are there any
    general layout tips that someone could pass on to me? perhaps a
    link to a good tutorial?
    please help me. i am very confused.
    thanks so much.

    IMO not a good site to emulate. To wit:
    Top background image:
    http://www.jeffsarmiento.com/images/bg-top.jpg;
    745px
    x 350px 137K
    Main background image:
    http://www.jeffsarmiento.com/images/bg-tile.jpg;
    745px x 950px 130K
    Total page size: 454K (Check here:
    www.websiteoptimization.com)
    Website usability experts routinely recommend a maximum page
    size of ~80K
    Check out the We We Scale @ www.FutureNowInc.com/wewe/ where
    they suggest,
    "You speak about yourself approximately 0,003 times as often
    as you speak
    about your customers. Might that have an impact on your
    effectiveness?"
    That is 100% consistent with the #1 Web Design mistake:
    "Believing people
    care about you and your web site." or to phrase more
    expansively, "Our site
    tries to tell you how wonderful we are as a company, but not
    how we're going
    to solve your problems."
    www.sitepoint.com has some excellent books on making a
    website actually
    attractive and usable at the same time.

  • Maintaining Alignment/Distribution of Objects During Browser Scaling

    Hello All,
    I have been searching the forum for about two hours trying to
    find the right code.
    Basically, I want to have a site where the background scales
    to the browser window proportionately and the buttons re-align
    themselves around the perimeter. The content will be centered in
    the middle of the browser.
    I found the perfect piece of code for the background scaling.
    What I want to have is a minimum flash size, say 500px. If
    the browser window is scaled smaller then 500px, scroll bars
    appear. There will be buttons along the top, bottom, and sides of
    the stage. When the browser window is enlarged, the stage expands
    with the buttons staying the same size and distribution between
    each button on the stage is consistent. (more space between the
    buttons when stage is expanded.) Also, the buttons will stay
    position to the top, bottom, and sides of the browser.
    I tried mixing other code from the forum with this scale code
    below with bad results.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks
    Jessy

    this works:
    you can view it here http://cybermountainwebservices.com/fullBrowser/FullBrowserAS3.html
    stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;
    stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
    var bmp:Tile = new Tile(35, 35);
    var tile:BitmapData = new BitmapData(35, 35);
    tile.draw(bmp);
    shelter.x = stage.stageWidth /2;
    shelter.y = stage.stageHeight /2;
    function fillBG(evt:Event = null):void {
      graphics.beginBitmapFill(tile);
      graphics.moveTo(0, 0);
      graphics.lineTo(stage.stageWidth, 0);
      graphics.lineTo(stage.stageWidth, stage.stageHeight);
      graphics.lineTo(0, stage.stageHeight);
      graphics.lineTo(0, 0);
      graphics.endFill();
    shelter.x = stage.stageWidth /2;
    shelter.y = stage.stageHeight /2;
    fillBG();
    stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, fillBG);
    in  this case the fill is with a 35pxl x 35pxl gif file but you could just as easily use a color the item called shelter is the name of the jpg in the center.
    when you do this be sure in your publish settings to set dimension to percent 100 x 100  if you cont want a border or scrollbars around the outside be sure to set this css rule in your html   body {margin:0; padding:0; overflow:auto}

  • Can't set wallpaper in IceWM

    Hi there,
    I can't set my wallpaper in IceWM. No matter whether I use icebgset or edit ~/.icewm/preferences manually, there's still the default theme background as desktop wallpaper. How do I change that?
    TIA,
    Blackhole

    Should be trivial, imho. I never had problems with this one. Best post your startup and preferences files.
    I have in preferences.
    # icewmbg preferences
    # IMPORTANT: You MUST run icewmbg (probably before icewm)
    # to set the background!
    # Display desktop background centered and not tiled
    DesktopBackgroundCenter=0 # 0/1
    # Support for semitransparent terminals like Eterm or gnome-terminal
    # SupportSemitransparency=1 # 0/1
    # Desktop background scaled to full screen
    # DesktopBackgroundScaled=0 # 0/1

    # Color to announce for semi-transparent windows
    # DesktopTransparencyColor=""
    # Image to announce for semi-transparent windows
    # DesktopTransparencyImage=""
    Do you run a desktop manager, by chance? They tend to do the background stuff by themselves.
    I run IDesk, but do not use their background capability in my .ideskrc:

  • Interface Builder: Problems with selecting items?

    Hello, does someone else have experience with IB selection problems?
    I did the following:
    -Created a textured window
    -Dragged a toolbar into it
    -Dragged a NSScrollView into the textured window
    -Gave the NSScrollView a white background
    -Scaled the NSScrollView so that it extended to the edges of the window
    -Dragged 4xCheckboxes into the NSScrollView
    After this I had major problems in selecting any of the Checkboxes. It seemed like if I moved the mouse around a bit and kept clicking, then in some point I was able to get the checkbox selected. However this happened only after 5-30 clicks. Also the scaling controls of the checkboxes were almost impossible to find and to use.
    Is there a button or a checkbox in the IB configuration, or a keyboard key or something in the IB that would make selecting things a bit easier. Or am I just doing something wrong?

    Interface Builder is pretty buggy to begin with, so that is always going to be a hassle. You normally have to double-click inside scroll views to get to the actual contained items. Also, you can drill down through the scroll view in the object window in tree view and select the checkbox itself.

  • Audio not in exported video

    When I try to export a video from a .mpg file to any other file such as mpeg4, quicktime movie, etc., the video exports without any sound. How can I get the sound to export WITH my video?

    I'm just bummed I spent $30 on Quick Time pro just for that reason when I could have used the program you showed me for free!
    "Be of Good Cheer!" While QT Pro will not edit/convert multiplexed audio as you had hoped, it still can do many things that MPEG Streamclip cannot do. For me, this includes the layering of video for picture-in-picture or multiple window effects, the merging of video with static backgrounds, scaling of individual video/image tracks, the addition of custom logos/watermarks, etc. Basically, you have lost nothing and gained the ability to do many things that even the iMovie video editor cannot do without spending "bigger bucks" on Final Cut Express or Final Cut Pro.

  • Crash during render...

    I have taken stills (JPEG), done some "Ken Burns" to them and rendered. I made 5 sequences like this, each about 2 minutes long. Then I nest those sequences into another where I have JPEG backgrounds, scaled them down to about 25% and moved it up in the top right corner. I also have built some CGs and have them superimposed. All of that goes off without a hitch. When I try to render whole thing, the dialog box comes up to tell me what percentage has been rendered. It stays on 0% for about 4 seconds, then FCP crashes. When I try to render a smaller piece (about 2 minutes), it goes thru the whole process and appears as though it will work, and just before it completes, FCP crashes. I had this issue last summer doing the same project. Somehow I got it to work then, but I can't remember what I had to do.
    Any thoughts?

    I got it fixed. I was careful to import the stills as RBGs and I was careful to make the sequence settings for the nested sequences RGB (Sequence>Settings>Video Processing). Then I had a brain **** and didn't make the "final destination" sequence set for RGB. I knew it was something simple and stupid. Most of my mistakes are. Thanks for the help!

  • Ios7 scaling issue

    Like everyone else i am having issues with scaling images to set as wallpapers. There should be an option for 3D  on the iphone, to turn on and off. This is an unneccessary hassle. Images are oversized, even if i take a picture. Please fix this issue. Its really annoying. There also should be a strip accross the date and time to fade out the background, bcuz the time clashes and you cannot read it what so ever. Iphone should be able to do this, as it did before. Some clarity to text needs to be added to the ios7. Jeesh, and you would think all the bugs are worked out b4 release. NOPE>> try again..

    Quit the Mail app forts then reset the iPad.
    Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • HT4623 Is anyone else having issues with scaling down photos to fit the screen for home and lock screens with ios7??

    Is anyone else having issues with scaling down photos to fit the screen for home and lock screens with ios7??  Installed ios7 this morning. Tried to use one of my photos from camera roll as background for lock screen and I can't scale the photo to fit the screen.  Never had a problem before and now when I pinch the photo to get it to the right size of the screen, it won't stay that way. The photo is enlarged way beyond the screen size so it doesn't look right. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hello, cliffiapp4.
    Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    Here are the steps that I would recommend going through when experiencing this issue.
    Resolution
    If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
    If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
    If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
    If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

  • How do I turn off apps running in the background on iOS7?

    I just updated my iPhone 5 to iOS7.  How do I turn off apps running in the background? Double tapping the home button and turning each one off doesn't work on the updated iOS.

    Double click the Home button and "slide" the open apps 'UP" with your finger, they will disappear.

  • I am so disappointed that with the new IOS7 I have lost my yellow note pad that was different from any other harsh white background that gives me headaches...please tell me that I can go back to what I was comfortable with?

    Is anyone else feeling the same way....why did you fix something that wasn't broken? I purchased an expensive ipad and liked the features, with one click I accepted the IOS7 operating system, not being informed of what I would lose, if I chose to upgrade...I was only informed about those things that would work better...not impressed with the new floating look to the screen, makes me feel light headed, bringing on a migraine...anyone else having problems with the new system?

    Agree, the new notes is useless. If I wanted a blank background, with a washed out looking font I would use my email, except the font in my email is dark enough to read easily in the grocery.
    Interesting to note how awkward the top menu is in iOS7 on a message board, it constantly drops down when selecting text.

  • How to adjust background format for photos from my albums iOs7

    With previous IOs version , when using photos from my albums to make background image , format would have fit itself  . But with iOs7  , it stays at the photo's original format and doesn't adjust to screen size .

    To answer the question in the subject line :
    You don't.
    Do not think iWeb. Do not think MobileMe. Do not think domainname. It confuses the brain.
    Simply put the desired slideshow folder from the examples on the server.
    The result is this :
    http://web.me.com/wyodor/Standard/
    Open the index.html file in a HTML editor of your choice and remove the code with text you do not want displayed. And change the name of the images.
    And now we come to iWeb.
    Add a HTML snippet to a page and paste an <iframe> to display the slideshow :
    <iframe src="../../../Standard/" width="950" height="200" scrolling="no" frameborder="0"></iframe>
    Change the width and height numbers to make the slideshow fit the snippet.

  • Black background when scaling images with transparent background

    I am implementing Zooming functionality for reports which have some icons. I am trying to scale icon by scaling its image. But the problem I am facing is that the icons have transparent background and the scaling puts a black background in place of transparent. Is there any way to maintain its transparency or better yet, Is there anyway to put a white backgound instead of the black one that is created by default ? Here is my code
         public static Icon getScaledIcon(Icon icon){
             if(icon instanceof ImageIcon){
                  Image outImage = ((ImageIcon)icon).getImage();
                      return new ImageIcon(getScaledImage(outImage));
             }else{
                  Image outImage = new BufferedImage(icon.getIconWidth(),
                            icon.getIconHeight(),
                            BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB);
                    JComponent comp = new JComponent(){};
                    icon.paintIcon(comp, outImage.getGraphics(), 0, 0);
                    return new ImageIcon(getScaledImage(outImage));
        public static Image getScaledImage(Image image){
             image = image.getScaledInstance((int)(image.getWidth(null) * getScale()),
                           (int)(image.getHeight(null) * getScale()), Image.SCALE_SMOOTH);
            return image;
        }I haven't done much image manipulation , so I would really appreciate any help or advice.

    I have also not done much of image work. But I guess you could achieve your functionality of showing scaled image in the screen by not scaling the image and show it, instead scale the image in paint method by calling g.drawImage giving the height and width. But use high resolution images so that scaling is good.
    If you do in this manner, you could give any colour you want as background to fill the transparent area or leave it as such.
    Regards,
    techece.
