Symptoms:
-iPad shows no sign of recognition of being plugged into computers
-screen does not light up, if sleeping
-ipad will not turn on if turned off
-ipad does NOT say "not charging"
-ipad does NOT have lightning bolt in battery
-does not sync
-computer does not see it
-computer does not see in itunes
-windows device manerger does not see it
-If VM IS turned in mac osx the "connect to mac or windows" dialog box DOESNT appear
-iPad WILL charge IF plugged into wall using ANY cable.
-iPad will connect and act completely normal with PCG-R505DL

-works with:
-PCG-R505DL(broken?)(old)(638MB RAM)(1GHz processor)(runs windows 7)(designed for windows xp)
-doesnt work with:
-MacbookPro9,2(8GB RAM)(2.9GHz i7 Processor)(turbo boost to 3.7GHz)(osx 10.9, windows 7 Bootcamp)
-IBM Thinkpad(1.6GHz Pentium M Processor)(single core)(1GB Ram)(runs windows 7)(designed for windows xp)
i have:
-imported the HDD from PCG-R505DL to IBM Thinkpad and installed the required drivers(didnt work)so i moved it back
-installed new copies of windows to bootcamp and other two computers(same results)
-updated all computers itunes, checked firewall, no virus software installed
-used 5 USB cables, all from apple, all work with other iDevices
-tried to restore(sucessfull on working computer), no effect on the others
-tried it on my friends new macbookpro (no effect)
-neither my iPod1,1, my iPod3,1, nor my dads iPad2,1 have any issueswith this(or other) problems
(the "1" computer menchioned in the description)(PCG-R505DL)
-is exibiting signs if imnent failure, ex. hdd cable going bad, ethernet not working, wifi card going out, CD Drive Useless, freezing, rebot doesnt work, crashing (none of these issues are present if HDD is plugged into other computer, so not a virus)

My iphone 4 is not being detected by any of my computers and not charging when connected to any computer. It will, however, charge to the car or wall. The only change that I can think of is that I downloaded a podcast from itunes directly from my phone. I've since deleted this podcast with no luck. I've restarted both the phone and the computer, still no luck. One computer is running Vista and the other Windows 7, both have the latest Itunes Update. Anyone have a fix for this?

My iphone4 when connected to any computer will not charge and is constantly connecting and disconnecting. It does the same with itunes so it doesnt really sync. Also when talking to someone, all of a sudden they cant hear me.
I'm having the same issue. I went to my local apple store and they could not work me into the genius bar so i made an appointment for tomorrow morning. The clerk did check the phone for the pink indicators at the top and bottom of the phone (where you plug in your USB or headphones) He said if you can see a pink indicator dot you may have gotten it wet, or had some sort of condensation in it, which could cause the plugs to not work.
In regards to people not being able to hear you, i'm waiting for my appointment tomorrow for more news! I would recommend taking it into your local apple store for more answers. -
When my ipad has photos on it and I connect it to my computer it is initially recognised as a camera before my computer crashes. Resulting in me having to reboot the system again and going through the disc checks to resolve errors. This has happened on several occasions. On previous occasions when I have not had any photos on my ipad it has connected to my computer without any problem.Is there a way of solving this problem without having to remove all of my photos from my ipad.
Being recognized as a camera is normal. Your computer sees the DCIM folder and doesn't know the difference between a 'real' camera and an iPad.
One way to stop it could be to tell windows explorer what to do. When you plug your iPad in do you see a little pop up window listing things to do with the device? If so, there should be an option to 'do nothing', which means you tell your computer 'hey, ignore this device'. Your iTUnes will still work when you connect them, the windows protocols that search for images, etc. should just let it be and hopefully stop the crashing. -
My BlackBerry PlayBook won't charge when connected to the computer via the micro-USB to USB cable
Can anybody help me? I don't know why but lately, when I try to plug my BlackBerry PlayBook into my Windows 7 laptop using the micro-USB to USB cable, it connects to my computer without any problems but it won't charge. Instead, I get a notification in the top left corner saying "Unable to charge battery with connected sorce". I have four USB ports and I'm positive that they work just fine because I plugged in some of the USBs I own into each of those four ports and they recognized the USBs without any issues. Does anybody know how I can resolve this issue? Thanks.
The notification is by design and was added to clarify that USB charging is not to be relied upon as a main method of charging. Instead RIM's good intention has caused confusion.
USB (by design) can not provide the amount of power the device needs while it's being used. Technically, it is still trickle charging but the screen has to be off (and I'd turn off Wi-Fi too) since they are high power draining items. I have verified that the PlayBook does indeed still charge but it takes much, much longer than plugging it into a wall charger or rapid charger. In a crunch it will work but the computer has to be on the entire time. A full charge would take many hours. -

Just downloaded Lion and now iMovie won't respond when I try to open it. Even tried deleting the program (since it was an older version) and bought it new from the app store, but still won't respond.
Thanks for this mha007 - I can now open FF with a new profile. Can I copy my settings from the old profile or will this bring over the same problem, maybe a corrupt file. If it would bring the same problem, is there any way I can check which file is corrupt, apart from taking them over one by one?

My "4" won't turn on. It won't charge when connected to a charger or to the computer. It's never been dropped, or had any water damage. It looks like its brand new! The warranty ran on on Feb 23rd, help!!!

Try Reset ( No Data will be lost )
Press and Hold the On/Off switch (On top your iPhone) and the Home Button (Button at the bottom of your iPhone screen). Hold both the keys simultaneously for atleast 10 to 15 seconds and you should see an Apple Logo coming up on your screen, once you see the Apple logo you can then release oth On/Off switch and Home button and wait for your iPhone's Home screen. -

Annoying incessent beeps in videos / won't charge when connected to CPU
First of all my battery couldnt hold a charge within 2 months of buying my 5G Ipod, so I sent it in and got a new one. The new one has a couple of problems, one of which the old one had as well.
The one thing both iPods have not been able to do is charge when connected to the computer. They can connect fine, but if my battery is dead or low, it won't connect and I have to recharge it on my charger before connecting it to the comp. My old 4thG (Which died right after warantee expired) was able to charge on my comp.
However my major issue is that my video's have loud and annoying beeping sounds throughout when I play them. I've done the 5 R's(many times), it does it for downloaded files as well as some official apple ones that someone suggested. It does not beep when TV-Out is selected but does start beeping as soon as I try to view it from the player. It does it to ALL my videos, ones that worked fine for my previous 5G. Audio files work fine.
iPods have given me nothing but trouble as this is my 3rd one.The USB mouse and printer do not draw any current from the USB port, so there's no info there. As you've stated, since your USB HDD uses an external power, that's not helpful either. I'm out of suggestions except you can see if someone else has a USB-iPod connector to try on your MacBook. BTW, if your IPT has a volume control on the left side, it's a G2.

Ipad 3rd gen shows blank screen when connecting to projector via HDMI AV adapter. I have an ipad 2 that works perfectly. Projector is a Dukane ImagePro 8106HA. Only difference I see is that the ipad 3 owner has not updated to IOS 6. Any thoughts?

hi i use an old black 60G photo/video ipod. Suddenly it won't recharge, when connected to the pc it emits several cicks in serires and then it shows at intervals a low battery signs and another sign, a sad faced ipod icon with the apple support email address. I am having essentialy the same problem, but my iPod came from a PC and is now on a PC. The person who gave me the iPod didn't give me the wall adapter piece, so I bought a "Griffin" brand that was said to be compatible with this model. When I first plugged it into the wall, the Apple appeared with a bar underneath as though it was loading the new software. When the bar got to the end, the "plug into the wall" icon reappeared, but when I plug it in to the wall now, that icon is the only thing that shows, even after resetting and trying to run diagnostics.
When I doc the iPod on a charger I have or plug the USB into my computer and "reset" it, a battery with a charge icon appears, but there is no "motion" in the icon so it doesn't appear to be charging. The screen eventually goes back to the apple then to the "plug it into the wall" icon. HELP!!! Is is possible the wall adapters isn't the right one? Should I be charging through a firewire cable instead (which I also don't have...)?
