IPad Air, rendering glitches

PDF rendering in iBooks and Safari on my iPad Air will occasionally yield large black blocks of unrendered image. This seems to be related to the re-processing done by the OS when zooming; it is reproducible and can be triggered by zooming in on a single page of a PDF.
Further, more than occasionally, a page will be stuck at the lower-resolution buffer and won't be switched out for the higher resolution re-render until I force-quit the application.
My question is this: is this a common occurrence? Standard behavior of the Air under iOS 7 at the moment? Or does mine have some bad memory, yielding buffer corruption? If I brought it to the Apple Store, could they tell me one way or the other?
Thanks a bunch!

I am on 7.1 and this is most definitely NOT yet resolved.

If You Think iOS 7 Feels Slow Here’s How to Speed It Up
    http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/23/ios-7-slow-speed-it-up/
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Ipad air lagging and graphic glitching

Ipad air lagging while playing games like temple run and candy crush, the graphic seems like glitching and the moving animation so slow compare to previous edition,,,,idk wht cause tis problem and now im waiting for new ios update hope it will fix it! Dissapointed.

I took it to genius bar and they replaced it with a new Ipad Air after getting them agreed to the graphic glitch. A more accurate description is the graphics are too jerky (as in not smooth). They agreed after running and comparing the same game (minion rush) in a new Ipad Air side-by-side. And the replaced Ipad Air began the same issue only after I got home. It came with 7.0.4 pre-installed, so there's no way I can know if it's the new iOS issue with Ipad Air or not.
I've compared it against other devices including GS4, note 8, Iphone 5s and even Ipad 3 and 4, where both Minion rush and gold star run smoothly. I tried to install other high graphic games and began to notice the problem is limited to these 2 apps only. Asphalt 8 graphics is too jerky itselfs to give it a real feel animation, so it's hard to judge in it. I'm wondering if it's just the app problems although both of them are claimed to be compatible with Ipad Air on their app store pages. But if it's really a universal problem with the app, I shouldn't be the only one Ipad Air owner facing it. There should be reports/complaints in forums/app comment boxes, shouldn't it?
If any of you own an Ipad Air too, can you please try to install these 2 games and reply me back coz I need to know whether this is a hardware problem requiring replacement or not.
Golf Star is most obvious when the power gauge moves up/down when u swing. You can compare it against any other later devices (apple or android)
It's most prominent in Minion Rush, from the video that comes on the very first run to throughout game play. The graphic is not smooth and too jerky to the point that even avoiding obstacles becomes too hard.
Please include your Ipad model and iOS too when you report back.
    Thank you

Just for the future on the ipad air there seems to be a white screen glitch after a certain amount of use.  This needs to be fixed thanks

You are not talking to Apple here. We are all users trying to help one another solve issues with their iPads.
I have an iPad Air and have never experienced something that I would call a " white screen glitch."
Please explain exactly what is happening on your iPad, what you might have tried to fix it and what, if any, error messages you receive.

  • Safari scrolling glitch with Ipad Air - iOS 7.0.4

In safari when scrolling to the bottom of any website/webpage. Safari will continue to scroll - there is no bounce back. Essentially allowing you to scroll past the bottom of the website/webpage and seeing nothing but grey screen.
The scroll bar/indicator on the right side of the screen also disappears - now you can't even tell how far down the website/webpage you have scrolled down.
I have brought my first ipad air to the Genius Bar and the rep informed they have not seen the glitch before. I received a second ipad air and this same glitch is happening.
I do have and old ipad one and this particular glitch has never happened.
    Any ideas? Or similar experiences?

Does not happen on mine. Try a reset: Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

  • ICloud Backup Issues on iPhone & iPad Air: NOT Enough Storage (5 GB)

I've been a user of the free 5 GB of storage since its inception without any problems.  I was backing up data on my iPhone and 3rd gen. iPad on a regular basis and never ran into any issues.
I recently upgraded to an iPad Air and set it up using a restoration and it went off without a hitch.  The very next day I started noticing these warnings that I was approaching my storage limit even though I had not really changed the amount of data on my phone or the Air.  I don't download lots of apps and basically only update them when necessary.  I use iTunes Match, so I stream my music from the cloud so I don't have audio files on any devices, with the exception of my iPhone for those times I don't have access to wi-fi -- and it's always been the same number of files/same size.
(The iPhone is showing 3.5 GB in use and the Air is showing 1.3 as of this post).
I do have a fair amount of photos in the iPhoto stream as I'm always snapping something, but not to the point of being obssessed. And I always am moving them into iPhoto/Aperture and deleting them frequently, so I'm not talking about thousands of photos being on either device at any time.
In other words, I'm like the average user when it comes to the amount of data on my devices -- and am not going overboard where it's at the point that I know I have to delete things to make room.
I've scrutinized the file sizes of everything I possibly can in the settings on both devices yet I'm still getting the warning that I don't have enough storage space.  I find it hard to believe that something during the process of setting up the Air pushed my storage over the edge to where I actually need to purchase space because I just am not seeing any deviation from what I used to do before setting up the Air.
I deleted the 3rd gen. iPad backup as well as any other old backups from iCloud which are no longer relevant each and every single time I've upgraded any device.  I don't have anyone else using these devices other than myself so no one is downloading apps, snapping pix, or doing anything which would add data.  I did a quick glance at the forums to see that lots of people have this problem - so I'm wondering if it's some type of glitch?
My iPhone told me today that I had not backed up to iCloud in weeks - which I'm sure refers to the time right around I bought the Air - as I have my devices to auto backup when connected to wi-fi. The last backup according to settings was 5/6 -- while the Air was on 5/16.
This is very annoying as I don't want to have to buy the next level of storage just to rid myself of this message so I'd be interested to know what others have tried.  Sure, I can just do a complete backup of all my devices to my computer -- which I do fairly regularly -- but it was always good to know that I had access to iCloud backups for those times I didn't hook things up to my MBP.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to things I can try to rid myself of this dreaded message? It pops up daily and I really would love to fix it.   Thanks!

I think I figured it out.  I went through my iPhone and turned off a lot of the apps that were slotted to backup and it appears to done the trick as the phone is backing up to iCloud.
The language needs to be broken down where it makes more sense of what's happening behind the scenes during these backups as I think it can be easily miscontrued that it's the data the various specific apps are using which is the issue at hand and not them apps themselves is what's causing the increase in size; some people may think that if they turn these apps off, they are deleting the apps from their devices so they leave them all switched on which ends up bumping up the size and ultimately eating up storage space.
I admit to not really paying attention to what the explanation was saying when I initially got the error message which made me initially post this.  Now that I'm rationally thinking, I can see the problem of the disappearing space and am off to turn off a handful of apps on the Air to reduce the storage allotment even more

  • Is iOS 8 slowing down the wi fi on my iPad air?

Having lived through several OS updates I know that it takes a little while for apps to all be updated and for little glitches to be worked out.  However, I think iOS 8 has brought on some real issues with my iPad Air.
The overall issue is a slow connection to the internet.  This happens at home and in several other locations where I have used the wi-fi since updating to iOS 8 a few weeks, ago.  My work PC works fine (well... at least, the internet does), but my daugter's iPad mini (also updated to iOS 8) will slow down when she is watching Netflix, occassionally.  The family also has an iMac, which is working fine.
While using the Washtington Post (downloading the newspaper), Pinterest, Safari, You Tube, Mail and the App Store, the connection seems to slow down to a crawl making it impossible to continue what I am doing.
I've shut down and restarted the iPad, and then it works fine for a while, only to slow down again sometime later.  Sometimes the problem will seem to fix itself, but then it slows down again.  Sometimes, it happens when it comes out of sleep mode, and sometimes not.   Since I use my iPad to work from home, it is really frustrating.  I can delay my gratification when it comes to games and such, but not when I am updating my blog or reading my email.
I've Googled iOS 8 and wi fi and saw that there are a number of issues out there.  Some of the big tech magazines and websites are tracking some similiar issues.  I'm curious if anyone knows if this is all related to iOS 8 and if a future update will resolve it, or if there are ways I can test my hardware on my iPad to make sure it is working properly.
    Thanks!

How to remove ios 8 ? This is biggest failure of Apple. It slow down my ipad , freez application, freez key board....?

Use iTunes to do a reset to factory default condition. Always be sure to do your backups before fiddling with your iPad. You might do both the iCloud and the iTunes backup, just to be sure!

Re: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgradein response to pacoKAS
SOLVED:  IOS 8 Issues on iPad 2:
I just returned home from a visit to the Genius Bar. Like you and many others, when I upgraded my iPad 2 to IOS 8, it became practically unusable. It was VERY slow, lagged whenever trying to to do anything. Lots of screen freezes and apps spontaneously crashing. I was convinced that the processor on the iPad 2 just couldn't handle the new IOS and I went in to see about restoring to IOS 7.
Thankfully, I was hooked up with a very sharp guy at the bar. The problem is not with the OS, it is with it being an *upgraded* OS. He used the analogy of when you had an older Windows computer and how over time (and over upgrades), they just tended to get slower and slower because of all of the garbage that was carried forward in the upgrades. At those times (and if you've ever had a Windows computer, you get this), the only thing that would speed it up would be to wipe the machine and do a fresh install of the current OS and then reload your apps, and the viola, everything would be fast again. Well, it turns out that IOS can suffer the same problems.
THE FIX:  FIRST, be sure you have a current iCloud backup of your device.  Connect your iPad to a computer that has a clean fresh copy of IOS 8 on iTunes (this is best done with a computer other than the one that you sync your device to because you DO NOT want to restore it from a back up just yet). Ideally, if you do this at an Apple store you'll be assured of the right version there and someone to answer any questions you might have along the way. You then hold the power and home button down to hard-reset the device and continue to hold them down until it reboots into recovery mode. You then follow the instructions on the computer to reinstall the OS on the device (which wipes everything from it and then reinstalls a clean copy of it). Once this is done (which only takes about 15 minutes), your device will reboot and ask you to set it up. Answer the questions about language, location, etc. and continue until it asks you to log into your iTunes account. Once you do that, it will ask if you want to either 1) Set it up as a new device, 2) Restore from iCloud, or 3) Restore from iTunes. Choose (2), restore from iCloud. This will ensure that it brings down "clean" copies of all of your apps and preferences rather than the potentially corrupted ones that might reside in your iTunes backup. That's it! It will take a few hours depending on how much data and apps you have, but I am happy to report that my iPad 2 is now running IOS 8 and it's running as fast as it ever did when it was brand new!
To sum it up, this process 1) Wipes your device and the garbage causing your problems, 2) Loads a clean and bug-free version of IOS 8 to your device, and 3) restores your apps and data so that it looks just like it did before the wipe, with the exception that it works now!  :-)
Note also that by following this process you don't have to go through the painful and laborious process of reloading all of your apps, data and/or settings. iCloud takes care of all of that for you.

  • After updating to iOS 8 the iPad Air is getting crashed frequently including safari

After updating to iOS 8 the iPad Air is getting crashed frequently including safari.

Have you tried to reset it? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot and see if that helps.
You may need to restore your iPad. That's where you back it up, then restore it to factory defaults, then put your backup back on so you don't lose any data. Sometimes a fresh start clears out any glitches and can help.

  • There is no red underline for misspelled words in Safari on Ipad Air since update

Since updating to the new IOS I don't see that red scribbly underline under misspelled words in Safari (or Google Chrome) anymore on my Ipad Air. I like that underline, cause it's an easy and fast way to see when I mispelled something or made a typo.
The spellcheck function on my Ipad is turned on (the autocorrect and suggestion function are turned off). I do see that red underline in other text programs, like Quickedit, Facebook Messenger and Notes. But not in Safari or in Google Chrome and Google Drive/Documents
I already tried to no avail:
turning the spellcheck, suggestions and autocorrect on and off
Resetting the Ipad (with the home and sleep/wake button)
Deleting my Safari and Google history data
    Deleting my dictionary data
    Deleting the emoji keyboard
How do I get it to work again?

I suspect that's an actual change to iOS 8, but if it isn't and you think it's a glitch or bug, then open a ticket with Apple Support, so they can get it registered as a problem, so the Apple software people can fix it ...

  • Why i do not see all purchased apps on my new Ipad air?

I bought new Ipad air, restored all apps from back up. It worked perfectly.
But when i  check purchased items in the apps store, there are only few appearing. It is weird because on my iphone 4s i see all purchases.
Already tried log out, restart, log in did not work.
What should i do to be able to see ALL purchased items in the app store?

I have found the issue is related to transfering from one device to another using the option to restore from iCloud.
In my case transferring from one iPod 4gen to another iPod 4gen.
I have noticed a couple glitches, in addition to not being able to see my Purchased Apps from the App store, my Wi-Fi connection(s) are considerably slower. Signing in and out with my Apple ID does not help.
When I setup my iPod as a new device using the same Apple ID I have none of these issue's, other than I have lost all my saved data.
I can not find a documented fix for this issue and have been all over my iPod settings trying different things. I most likely will have to abandon my iCloud backup and start over.

  • Blue line down center of iPad air screen

I purchased the new iPad air on Thursday (07.11.2013) . I was thoroughly impressed and excited upon receiving my first iPad only to find 3 days later while scrolling through Facebook a sharp blue line appeared straight down the center of the screen. I thought this May have been caused by the Facebook app and been just a glitch so I turned it off and back on again only to find it was still there and present on every screen even the apple startup screen. I have tried resetting the device but still with no prevail. I have rung the company I purchased it from and they are happy to replace the iPad, however, I am still very angry and annoyed that a company that charges such ridiculous prices for its "high quality" products suffers from such basic faults. I would have though that with 4 predecessors apple may have been able to work out all of its kinks/faults by now!
I was wondering whether  anyone else had experienced this issue and whether they know what exactly causes it and if they managed to resolve it  or if you've just replaced it?
P.s. The. iPad had not suffered from any previous impact nor been damaged or tampered with.
    Any comments greatly appreciated!
    iPad air 16GB wifi edition

I went to authorized reseller in Wellington, New Zealand.  And they said that they would look at it and in 2-3 working days it will be resolved. They need the 2-3 days to verify its not a software fault or had water damage or had been dropped.  In my case it is definitely not the case of software fault or damage.  So in all likelihood I will get a new replacement after 3 working days.  They told me to keep it over the weekend and go back on Monday (its Friday here), and by Wednesday.  Thank Heavens for Apple international warranty, I'm so thrilled by this level of service.
I did do the restore to factory settings to make sure this blue line was not a software glitch turns out I have had this fault for 1 week.  It is strange that this did not manifest until it was 2 months old.  Again as previous owners have said its been hardly used.
    Thank you for the Support!!

  • Cannot sync Google calendar on iPad Air

My Google calendar is not showing up on my iPad Air. While added my  Gmail account to the iPad mail client, I made sure to select the  'Calendar' option. Is there anything else that I need to do? The iOS version  is 7.0.3.
Thanks in advance for your time.

    Same problem here.
iPad replaced and new iPad restored from recent backup. Result: google calendar events no longer synced with google cloud. Attempted to solve by deleting google acc from iPad and recreating. Result: iPad no longer showed any google calendar events. Google support no help at all. Led me to https://www.google.com/calendar/syncselect which I unticked and reticked with no change - no google calendar visible on iPad even though all options set correctly and email working fine. Final solution was to create caldav account on iPad. Calendars now working. No thanks to google support. Thanks to wilver.
Some changes to wilver's response. pasatiempo49 is correct. On initial create caldav screen, type www.google.com for server and enter  https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/[email protected]/user//www.google.com/calendar/dav/[email protected]/user    on Advanced screen. On wilver's post the URL shows twice. I assume this is a rendering problem caused by a conversion - the URL should only be entered once, starting with https and ending with /user - no closing slash.
I now have two gmail accounts on my iPad. One with calendar and one with mail and contacts.
