Ipad mini lightening to USB camera plug not working
Hi all,
I recently purchased an ipad mini with a lightening to USB camera cable. The ipad does not recognise my camera and vice versa. It's like they are not plugged in.
Have tried resetting ipad and camera, both have full batteries and have tried 2 different camera USB cables which both work when plugged into the computer.
Camera is Olympus EP-3.
Anyone else had this issue?

When you plug your iPad into a Windows PC, it doesn't charge for some reason. The battery does not get drained or used up because i once left it running (not locked) overnight and it still had 57% in the morning. When i got my new MacBook, it stopped saying "not charging" and it began to charge and use up the computer's battery.
This is because most of the laptops (even on older macs) dont provide enough power for the iPad to charge with the screen on. Sometimes it can charge when the iPad is locked, but it is very slow. My new mac has USB 3.0, so maybe that works, but my Windows has 2.0, so i guess 2 and below can charge and iPad. -
After updating my ipad 2 to iOS 7.0.4 , front and back camera is not working it gives like very small dots or dash. I did restore from iTunes and reset by holding on the home and sleep button, I also tried to close the app from the task bar but still all trials didn't solve the problem.
I haven't heard of this before so I doubt it's a bug. Probably something happened during the 7.04 download.
Backup your iPhone to iTunes and restore it as a new iphone, then restore from the backup. This will give you a fresh copy of iOS 7.04. -
I recently bought a leather case from store with smArt unlock/lock function with magnetic. I try to use it on my iPad mini retina when I try to close and open it doesn't work. I already on my smart unlock function inside setting. May I know where is the magnetic area of iPad mini retina ?
The "Lock/Unlock" feature is enabled by installing a compatible Smart Cover/Case (or third-party equivalent) with an embedded magnet in the correct position in the cover. Are you using a real Apple product? If not, the cover/case you are using may not have the magnet in the right place or may not even have one at all.
If you ARE using a real Apple Smart Cover/Case and you have an Apple Store nearby, have them check both the case and cover you are using. You may have a bad magnectic switch on the iPad or a faulty cover/case.
I also remember reading here of a Smart Case/Cover which had the magnet installed upside-down and was repelling rather than attracting. You might want to take the cover off and flip it to verify this...you'll have to slide the cover around in different positions on the right-hand bezel on the iPad to see if you can activate the magnet. -
HT1212 ipad mini is frozen and home button not working
my ipad mini home button is frozen and will not turn off. I have tried holding the home button and of/off button for more than a minute and will not respond or shutdown.
If the home button is not working, then the best option is a visit to an Apple store genius bar to have the techs check it out.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

1. Connect your iPad to iTunes (computer)
2. In iTunes, select your device.
3.From the Summary pane, click "Configure Universal Access" in the Options section at the bottom.

USB Camera does not work with iChat

I'm having a terrible time getting my ToUcam Pro II to work with iChat. I downloaded the iUSBcam program. That didn't work. I downloaded the program Macam, and copied the proper file into the Quicktime Library (as suggested) and that didn't work. I downloaded IOXwebcam, and got an error stating that it wouldn't run due to the fact that it didn't have the proper security settings. Sigh.
So... what am I to do?
I'd like to buy a webcam that does, actually, work with my 8 month old Mac Pro 4 core mac desktop, but the iSight camera is ridiculously expensive. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
BradAn X-box 360 cam will do it although not in that list.
Anything that is USB 2.0 and marked UVC compliant or Vista Certified.
Be Aware some Mac Keyboards do not have USB 2.0 ports.

tried to do an ios update the ipad mini is now asking to plug into itunes, have now seperate computer to do this can not get any other screen to come up on ipad can the ipad be reset or how do I fix this
If it's showing the connect to iTunes screen then it sounds like it's gone into recovery mode and will need to be connected to a computer's iTunes in order to be reset. Does neither she nor you have a computer, and if she hasn't has she been backing up to the cloud instead ?
Depending upon what country that you are in, and whether content is still in the store, she might be able to re-download some/all of her downloads via the Purchased tabs in the App Store and iTunes store apps -

Lightening to USB camera adapter error
I just bought an iPad air along with the lightening to USB camera adapter. I use a sandisk card reader to upload my photos. When I plug in to the adapter, I receive an error message stating I don't have enough power for this device. I have 97% power so I don't think that's the issue. Any ideas how I can upload my photos?
It's the port USB power, not your iPad battery power. Most card readers don't work, but there may be some that will. Another option is to get a powered USB hub and plug it into the iPad. Then plug your card reader into the hub.

I'm using Pop3. I can see 4 messages on webmail.frontier.com server. I run Thunderbird, it says "Downloading 1 of 5 messages", but the green bar just sits there and never completes any of the downloads. One message is stuck in the pipeline somewhere.
