The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. Can I use an iPad for taking hand written notes using a stylus? Not a large stylus, but a one like Sumsungs.

Hi HawkeyeD1977, thank you for watching!
    1) I don't think you can really scratch the screen with the Jot Script. I don't have a screen protector, but I have reasons to think it will still work if you have one (I tried the Scrip through a think sheet of plastic, and I still works: more on that in my next video).
    2) It's true that the Script is noisy, but as I often say: have you ever tried to focus on the background noise of, say, a classroom? It is very noisy too! I'm always surprised by how good our brain is to filter background noises. So really, it depends on your environment and on the ability of your brain to filter noise. For me, I'd rather use a stylus that is a little noisy but very precise. It also depends on how you write text: as you can see on my video, I don't lift my pen very often, I write big groups of letters together.
    3) You should watch my latest video about that: I talk about Memo and Notes Plus. Memo has a handwriting technology that you can test for free, and buy as an in-app purchase inside Notes Plus, to use in a realy note-taking app. In Notes Plus, you can indeed convert just selected areas containing text.
    4) It won't have a text convertor, not in the next update. Maybe latter!
If you want more information about the Jot Script, stay tuned: by the end of the week, I will have uploaded a video to talk about the Scrip with more hindsight after one month.

i have an apple i pad 16 gb...i have it charging for days and its not taking the charge what else can i try...

Could be the charger, cable or the iPad.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
Or - Recalibrate the battery. See link below.

  • Looking for a good note taking app: Are there new features for the Notes app in iOS6?

    Hi,
I've read that the Notes app with Mountain Lion will be available for OS X as well, and I was wondering if there will be any significant updates to the Notes app coming in iOS 6?
The Notes app in Mountain Lion supports, as far as I know, text formatting, images and attachments. The Notes app in iOS 5 does not have any of these features, yet still it is claimed that the OS X client will sync with the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This means that there must be some rather significant updates coming for the Notes app in iOS 6 to match up with the features of its Mac counterpart. Still, no updates to the Notes app are listed in any of the iOS 6 feature lists I've seen so far.
I'm looking for a good note taking app for OS X and iOS. I don't like how Springpad works, neither did Evernote work out for me, it's just too complex - I like Simplenote a lot though, it's just that its approach is too radical in my opinion. I was thinking that the Mountain Lion Notes app might be a good alternative because it combines simplicity with rich text formatting and attachments. I kind of hate the skeuomorphic user interface though.
    best, Ian

You are only addressing other iPad users here & no Apple employees. We have no way of knowing, so you'll have to wait until iOS 6 is released.

  • IPad not recognized by itunes or my PC...stuck in recovery mode

    Wow... what a mess.
I inherited a first gen iPad last week... wanted to wipe it clean and start fresh.  Restored and erased all content... and now it's stuck in recovery mode.   It's not recognized in iTunes or at all by my PC.   When I plug it in... nothing at all.  Looked in my device manager for it to show up... nothing.   Tried restaring it, putting it into DFU mode, plugging it into different usb ports, different usb cables, reinstalling itunes, trying it on multiple different computers, and pretty much every how to help article I could find on the web.
HELP!    There must be some way to kick this thing back to life.   It's fully charged, was treated well before I had it, and practically new.
    HELP!  Please.

did you try all those steps:
Disconnect the device from the computer.
Save a screenshot by pressing the Home button and the Wake/Sleep button at the same time (the screen should flash briefly). Note: Taking screenshots and saving images on iPod touch requires iOS version 2.0 or later.
Reconnect the device to the computer.
Open the Device Manager in Windows as follows:
Windows XP: Click Start > Run. In the resulting dialog type devmgmt.msc and press Return on the keyboard.
Windows Vista or Windows 7: Click Start. In the dialog, type devmgmt.msc and press Return on the keyboard. If Windows needs your permission to continue, click "Continue".
Expand all the sections labeled below (not all sections may be listed):
    Imaging Devices
    Other Devices
    Portable Devices
    Universal Serial Bus Controllers
Look for the entry that recognizes the device as a camera. This entry should be called Apple iPhone,Apple iPad, or Apple iPod.

If the Reset didn't work, you'll need to do a Restore.
From iTunes, select the iPad and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finished, you will be asked if you wish the contents of iTunes to be copied to the iPad.

my ipad is taking restart automatically and screen is fully balck and showing only apple logo.please give me solution for that

Have you tried a reset first? If it works, you won't have to go through the restore process.
Hold down the sleep (upper right hand top) and the home button at the same time. A slider will appear. Ignore it and keep holding down the buttons. The Apple logo shoud appear. Then your ipad might work again. It takes a good 15 seconds. You will not lose anything on your ipad.
If you try it a couple of times and it doesn't work, you might have to go through the restore process as has been suggested above. But follow the steps so you don't lose your data.
    Hope this helps.

  • I lost app when upgrading to  5.0here did it go...important app I use for note taking at work!

I upgraded my iPad 1 to the new iOS, 5.0, and it removed an application I downloaded from the Apple Store called Noteworthy.  It was a note taking software, and it's been upgraded a few times since I bought it, so I know it's legitimate.  I lost all my notes, etc.  Anyone have advice?  This is pretty critical for me!

Apple stepped me through the backup restore, only to find out it was all gone.  VERY UNHAPPY with APPLE, and am planning to tell everyone I know.  Step one of any upgrade should be to conduct a back-up, and confirm it with the user.  I guess Apple thinks they are above process?   Oh well...eight months of notes flushed away.  I guess I should not have had a choice in keeping those, right???  APPLE BITES!

  • IPad not mounting

I have had my iPad for almost a year now. When I plug my iPad into my Powerbook nothing happens. It doesn't make the sound it makes when you plug it into a wall outlet. I tried the same cable in the same port with my iPhone4 and sync begins. System Profiler recognizes that I have my iPhone in. System Profiler DOES NOT recognize my iPad at all. I tried restarting. Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. At least two cables. When I plug my iPad into the wall outlet the "not charging" icon appears next to the time. It does charge albeit very slowly.
    Any suggestions?

Re: iPad not mounting; iTunes not "seeing" iPad; iPad USB issue; iPad USB not connecting
    iTunes 10.2.1 (1)
    iPad 4.3.1
    Max OS X 10.6.7
    MacPro 1,1
    All USB port work
    All USB Cables work
iPhone 3GS 4.3.2 works with iTunes - connect and sync
iPad 4.3 works with iTunes - connect and sync (this is another iPad I have which has not been updated to 4.3.1 or 4.3.2)
=> Conclusion is that there is no issue with my Mac hardware or software or cables.
    I have executed the following:
    - iPad reset (Settings-General-Reset-Reset All Settings)
    - iPad reset (Home + On/Off Buttons)
In both cases, the iPad is not detected by my computer and does not show up in System Profiler - USB.
I tried holding onto the Home button for 10 seconds disconnected and then reconnected. The picture with the iTUnes logo and USB port shows up, but does nothing when I connect the USB to my iPad.
==> Possible hardware issue with iPad connection port.
    Any ideas from anyone????
In the interim, I am taking the iPad in to get checked out.

  • Calender feature in Journals picks up the day photo uploaded to ipad, not when it was taken.

So, I was playing around with iPhoto on my iPad, I made a photo journal,  and I put a calender beside a photo, but suprisinly, the calender showed the date the photo was UPLOADED onto my ipad, not when it was taken, which was around october in 2011.
So, did this happen to you? if it did, please comment and say it did, knowing that it's something wrong with iPhoto, not my device.
and for an answer, I'd be happy with apple's email for iPhoto, or a link taking me to a thread that talks about the problem.
    Thanks!

oh my god I am so dumb, I checked the picture closest to the calender which was taken in august, but the calender took the other pics, which was JPEG format, that's weird, wonder when it got turned into JPEG, oh well, IGNORE THIS QUESTION, can't belive I'm so dumb....

Why does my iPad not show up in manage storage?

How to Remove “Other” Data from iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch
    http://www.igeeksblog.com/how-to-remove-other-data-from-iphone/
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6/7, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • School iPad Syncing Taking Up Large Amounts of Space

We have a computer syncing 50 iPads. After realizing that backups of each iPad were taking up around 80GBs of space on the hard drive, we deleted the "Device Backups" in the preferences of iTunes and gained all the space back. This is quite a temporary fix because it's much easier to sync new app downloads which will just recreate the back ups instead of downloading them by hand on each iPad.
We've not upgraded them to iOS5.
Is there away around this issue besides backing up the data to an external hard drive (not really solving the problem) or using iCloud (bandwidth issues)? I'd like to see a way of cloning iPads soo they just use the same back up or something to that effect, but I realize that might not be possible.

Yes, though not advisable for content that you may not be able to redownload on demand. I'm not sure what Audible's policy, but with iTunes there is only one download.
You can either place the device in manually managed mode, in which case content you delete from the library won't be automatically removed from the device, or delete the files from Windows Explorer while keeping the entries for the same in the iTunes library. With the second approach iTunes will warn that it cannot find the files to sync (you can disable the warning) but it won't remove them, and you retain the advantage of being able to automatically sync other content.

It depends on exactly what printer you have.  For example, if you have an old Epson printer that is not AirPrint compatible, there is an iPad app called Epson iPrint that will allow you to print from certain selected programs (e.g., Safari, photos).

That all depends on which eBook app you're using. If you archive a book using the Kindle app, it is removed from your iPad. It's still available in your Kindle account should you ever wish to access it again but it's not taking up space on your device.
