Ipad with Home Hub 2

Yesterday I had what I thought were broadband problems. Working with the BT man from India we proved that my router ( a Billion ) was at fault resulting in me changing my Billion Router for a BT Home Hub 2, which was still in its box, never having been used since the day it arrived a long while ago.
Broadband is now back in service - can't get the Ipad to connect, any suggestions please - Geoff

I assume that the Ipad connected ok to your old router?
To forget network go into settings >WiFi>Homehub2xx> click on blue arrow>Forget Network.
Try switching off Ipad after forgetting network then back on and try reconnecting.
Do you have a laptop or other wireless device that you can try and connect to the Homehub to ensure that it is working OK.
If that still does not work you may need to change the security type on the Homehub. It will be on WPA and WPA2 This has been known to cause connection problems with the Ipad for some reason changing it to WEP can help. See this link how to change it.

While there you could also change the channel of your Homehub. Try either channel 1, 6 or 11. See this link

  • Am i able to connect 40 iPads with USB hub(Powered) to iTunes (Windows) and Sync?

    Dear Apple Support,
I would like to ask about can i connect 40 iPads with (USB Hub(Powered) able to support up to 127 Devices) to iTunes(Windows) and Sync all with same Apps?
    Regards,
    Xentrino

Okay... I've just found the solution. It's really simple, just plug the phone to the MacBook, fire up iTunes, check the "Sync Photos from iPhoto" option, make sure all the other options are not checked, and just sync. Voila! my iPhoto library is now in the palm of my hand.

  • Problems with home hub 2

Since Xmas we have experienced problems with our home hub 2. We introduced 2 new mobiles onto the hub and since then have been having real problems with the connection. My blackberry and ipad will no longer connect to the hub, one of the samsung galaxy s3 has interrupted service.
We have a total of 6 devices connected to the hub plus bt vision ! Is this the cause of the problem.
Even when nothing else is connected to the hub the ipad still won't connect although I get a signal and connection through BTFON .
I tried doing a speed test using the link provided by another forum member but got only upload nod download rates which didn't bare any resemblance to those posted and mean nothing to me.
The hub is well over 2 years old so wondering if its time to renew.
I'm not a techi so really need an idiots guide of how to rule out other options. Please help I'm tearing my hair out!

Have you tried a factory reset of the home hub, by pressing in the recessed button?

  • IPad lost home hub wireless connection

Our iPad has stopped connecting wirelessly to our Home Hub 3 whereas it worked perfectly before and an iPhone still connects OK. We've tried the Helpdesk advice of isolating BTWiFi and BTWiFi-with-FON by using "Forget This Network" but it still brings up the message "Unable to join the network BTHub3" etc.  Any ideas?

Carry out a factory reset of the Homehub by pressing a pin into the red recess on the hub for about 20secs. When connecting the iPad use the PASSKEY found on the homehub or the pull out card that came with the hub. Do not use your email password or any other passsword.

  • Issues with Home Hub 3 Wireless. And lousy teleph...

I don't know if this forum is moderated or followed by BT support staff, but I sure hope so.
After coming from Virgn Media for my BB to BT infinity (Awesome speeds btw!) I'm pleased with the connection and, up until today, the support. I now have issues with my Wireless devices on the HH3.
This is the outline of my setup:
I have the Open reach modem connected to the home hub.  I then have the 1Gbps ethernet port from the home hub that is connected to a 1Gbps 5 Port switch that connects my wired network together (Consisting of my Xbox, Networked Printer and my Desktop PC).  Wireless serves 2 Laptops, an Xperia U phone, and a G5 Ipod touch (not all mine, I have a flat mate).
My issue is that when more than one device connects via WiFi, the WiFi network has serious issues: The connections don't drop per se, but websites are not delivered, data transfer is intermittant at best - i.e. the WiFi network simply does not work.  When there is only one device, there is no issue.
Now, being a techie (I don't mean to title drop, but I think it's important that technical support know that I know my stuff) I'm an electrical engineer (The graduate type) and I know my IT - so I have my own idea of what's wrong with this.
Now, as my order was not completed until yesterday, techincal support couldn't/wouldn't help until today.  Yesterday, however, I spent hours trying to solve my issues and got as far semi-solving the problem.  I managed to get everything working nicely together when Wireless N is disabled and only a/b/g is enabled.  Great, but a main selling point is the Wireless N and I want to use this.
So, today I phoned technical support.  I should also note here, and I made this perfectly clear with support, that when the WiFi starts to missbehave, the wired network still works perfectly and I have no issues with internet connectivity with any wired devices.  So, clearly this is not a line fault - it's on this side, aka, the router WiFi side where the problem resides.  Support decided to do a line test anyway - and of course it got the all clear.  He then asked me to reset the router (Yey, again after I had done it plenty of times before, only this time I had customised the SSID and the LAN IP addresses and now they need done again).  He then went on to state that I should receive an e-mail with instructions on what to do next, and if they are still issues to reply to a text message that will be sent.
Duly, an email arrived.  It began with "Sorry you had to call us today about your wireless disconnecting. We’re pleased we could help you get it working again." and continued on with with this theme.  No, my problem is not resolved!  I phoned back, this time advising me to change channels, and check individual devices to see if they're any conflicts - I did this pretty quickly and disabled and re-enabled WiFi on my Laptop, phone, ipod and still to no avail.
I have now been told that I will get a phone call between 3 and 3:30pm to see if the WiFi will settle down. huh!
I don't mean to be such a pain and sound like such a git, but this is not an issue that I believe the technical support (via the call centre anyway) will be able to solve.  This is an issue with the HH3, mine at least, not being able to handle mutiple WiFi devices conntected simualtaneously - all but one on N, the other on G.  Now, I'm of the understanding that this shouldn't be a problem.  I'm sick of telephone support going through their script without listening to the whole issue either or beleiving that I spent a good 2 hours yesterday getting to the bottom of this.  I don't need line tests, I don't need resetting the router, I don't need changing channels - I've did all this!
So it looks as though I'm stuck on HH3 in 'G' for now until we solve this issue.
Further information: I'm using the type A HH3; again wired devices are not impacted in any way from this issue; I have tried multiple different channels; YES! I've reset the router and power cycled it; And this issue happens wether my WiFi devices are 1 meter away from the HH3 or 15 meters away.
Could this be a bad HH3 or frimware issue? Can someone suggest something or highlight something that I've perhaps overlooked or missed?

  • Wifi connection issues with Home Hub 5

Hi can any body help because I am starting to get very frustrated with the Home Hub 5 and it's wireless connection.
infinity 2 was installed at my house in the beginning of September, everything worked Ok for three weeks then for no apparent reason the hub kicked out all of my wireless devices (phones, kids iPods, tablets etc) at 6:45 one morning. When I got home from work I rang BT and was told to perform a Pin reset. This seemed to work but less tham 48 hours later at exactly the same time in the morning the hub kicked out all of my devices again, this time I just pressed the restart button on the top of the hub and everything reconnected but the Wifi range within my house had dropped. A few days later the hub kicked all my devices out again (each time it has done this the light on the hub has remained blue showing it is supposedly working OK)
One evening this week the hub of its own accord cycled through all the colours of lights indicating problems and that it was restarting. Today at 10:15 the hub kicked all my Wifi devices out again. I have contacted BT every time this has happened and told them about the poor range of the Wifi signal.
I do not want to be restarting/resetting my Hub every couple of weeks i need a permanent solution.
One of the reasons I switched from TalkTalk to BT when fibre became available was the fact that the Home Hub 5 was supposed to be the best provided router by any of the networks, being the only one that is an AC class router. The thing costs £130 if you want to by one. Quite frankly the £60 TP-Link dual band router I bought when I was with TalkTalk had a better range and was more stable. I would switch back to that if I knew BT's router settings (but they like to keep that a secret)
I really am beginning to regret switching from TalkTalk. Please someone restore my faith in BT.
Sorry for the lengthy rant but I hope you can understand why I've ranted for so long.
    Nick

    Hi imjolly
Sorry its taken a while to reply to your post.
I wanted to try BT's latest attempt at a solution before i tried your idea.
Since your reply the Home Hub 5 has dropped the Wifi connection to my devices another three times.
The second time less than 30hours after BT's so called fix, which was to make sure the 5Ghz channel was not syncing with the 2.4Ghz channel. Tonight it went again and BT's response was to take the router out of smart channel selection and manually select channel 9,6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 36,40,44 or 48 on 5Ghz. Well I havent even bothered with that, if the prats at BT would look at their records they would see they have already suggested that.
This HH5 is the most unreliable piece of garbage i have ever had the misfortune to use. WHY OH WHY did I leave TalkTalk
I have tonight tried your solution. Fingers crossed that this works.

  • Problem connecting wirelessly with home hub 3.

Kodak gave me advice onthis problem. Entered security key in upper case instead of lower and it solved the problem . No help from BT on this.

What john46 says is quite correct, also Kodak would give you NO support for setting up the Home Hub..
Thats not to say you would not have been given help on these forums if you had a problem connecting your printer and if we could not help,at least we might have been able to point you in the right direction.

  • Re: Wireless printing stops working with Home Hub ...

I have had to fix a few clients home networks and was perturbed to find there is a pattern between the new home hubs and existing wireless printers.
I too found no logical reason why the connection would drop or go twilight zone. I searched after fixing a couple of these sites and found no conclusive methods from the more senior site members posting suggestions.
I agree that it is a bug with the HH firmware or a setting that you should be able to tweak is not available to band-aid over the underlying issue.
My working method was to manually set the channel in the router from the auto setting. Pinging and communications seem to flow both ways and the printers work straight away once the settings have been applied.
I would love to see a proper response from a BT representative as with some areas of the U.K there is only BT as an option (for broadband) and by ultimately having a HH router that behaves in this fashion is just poor. I think BT need to recognise the issue and investigate from some customers home networks to understand the issue.
Any update that sheds some light on this is welcome!

I have a HH1 with a mixture of hard wired and wireless connections. The hard wired ones all have static IP addresses, however I do not use the DHCP server on the home hub, as that is a function of one of my wireless access points.
My printer is connected by USB to my server, but I never have any issues communication between wireless devices, and  Ethernet connected ones.
Did you delete the printer from the home hub DHCP table, before giving it a static IP address, to avoid any conflict?
Maybe its an issue with the HH5? You will have to see if anyone else is having problems.

  • Printers Woes with Home Hub 2

Untill very recently I had my HP Photosmart 2575 connected directly to my HH via an ethernet cable and all was well. This set up allowed me to also print wirelessly from a laptop.
Then last week my broadband connection went down for about 3 hours, mysteriously restoring just after midnight.
I reported the fault while it was down and as it restored later the same night, I thought nothing more about it.
Now however I notice my printer no longer functions. I tried deleting it to re install it and when I browse for it, its not even listed. If I try to add it as a plug and play device, its still not recognised...
On BT's broadband FAQ's,I have now read that the Home Hub is "not a print server"???
This present set up has been working for over 12 months so I suspect that BT Broadband have altered the Hub in someway whilst effecting the repair???
Any ideas would be much appreciated. I am not overly computer/hub savy, so don't be afraid in being too basic!
    Thanks in advance,
    Peter

Firstly, thanks for the advice gents.
I tried the suggested power down of the Hub and Printer, but no joy.
I then tried setting the printer up direct from my PC via a USB port and it still wouldn't work.
In the end I uninstalled all the HP software and down loaded it again from the HP site. I then re installed the printer via the ethernet cable to the Hub. This didn't exactly go smoothly, but once I managed to gte it installed, the printer now works!
I then checked that I could print from the laptop using a wireless connection and that failed to work
However a simple delete of the printer and reinstal cured the problem.
I am really not sure what caused the original problem but it seems strange it happened the same time as I lost my broadband...
Anyway, I thought I'd post the solution in case anybody else has a similar problem.
    Regards,
    Peter

  • Having issues setting up the use of two iTunes libraries on one Apple TV.  I can set up my iTunes library as I can turn home sharing on from my own computer, however, my fiance only has an iPad with home sharing turned on and it does not find his account?

I have a new Apple TV which I am struggling to set up with both mine and my fiances music.  I have a laptop, but my fiance only has an ipad and it only seems to sync my music library from my iTunes account.  He has homesharing turned on on his iPad but the Apple TV does not recognise his iPad.  It seems from the help that I have read online that homesharing works when you use the same itunes account, is not possible to be able to use two different itunes libraries with two different accounts (and only one computer)?
    Thanks

Both libraries would need to have been setup to use home sharing with the same Apple ID in order for that to work.

  • Company VPN not working with Home Hub 5

    Hi
I switched to BT infinity a month or so ago, but have only recently tried to access my company VPN through the service (VPN uses Citrix Xenapp).  It used to work (with my previous ISP using a different router) just fine.
I can connect to VPN okay, but when I try to launch a virtual app (Windows 7) I get the usual pop-up asking if I want to run the app - I answer Yes but then.... well nothing happens.   It's the same in IE11, Chrome and Safari.  No error or warning messages, just nothing,
VPN works fine from other locations (just not home - which is where I need it!).
Have searched around and found other postings like this:-
    http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14244/c/346,402,405
(Tried that and it hasn't worked).
Tried switching off parental controls - but that did not good either.
Also tried factory reset of the hub (not that I've changed any settings) with same result.
This old thread seems similar, but specifically states that the issue wouldn't affect HomeHub 5:
    https://community.bt.com/t5/Other-Broadband-Queries/New-firmware-kills-VPN/td-p/1196385/page/21
I'm working on a wired PC in home office, so wireless isn't an option.
Can anyone help?  It's like something is blocking the application but no messages etc.

Do you connect via a website or via a client? If it's via a client then try adjusting the MTU on the network interface on the device that's connecting to the VPN try for example 1200. If that doesn't work I'd get your support guys to talk to the software vendor as I'd guess you aren't the first person to have this problem.

  • Devices Missing from Home Hub 2 List

I have seen many entries on various forums about people connecting device and not seeing them on the network list.
I had this problem and went through all the suggestions and finally did a reset to factory defaults. This cured the problem temporarily but it returned the following day.
After lots of analysis it seems that the HH2 can only display 10 devices at any one time, so when I added the 11th device to my network – it does not seem to matter weather its wireless or not, it is not in the list – delete an existing entry and refresh and the new device appears.
Is this normal behaviour or is my HH2 faulty?

    marcelaj1 wrote:
I know they are connected as I first noticed the issue when the P.C. I was logged onto interface with was not in the list.
From what you are saying this is normal for these things.
Its much the same on the home hub 1. Sometimes devices do not show as connected, even though they exist in the main device list. I get the impression that the web display only updates if the device has been active for a while.
There is nothing in the firmware to trigger anything, when a device status changes.
If I log into the telnet interface on the HH1, and use the command "hostmgr list", the device is shown on the list.
Telnet is not available on the HH2.
I would not rely too much on the device list. If you really want to see if a device is present, then simply "ping" it.
I actually use static addresses on my network, as it makes it easier to detect if a device is active.
