Ipaq 210 "backup" to card failed

I know, I know, this is an ancient piece of hardware, but . . . I need help.
Suddenly the backup function disappeared from my system.  I have always backup'd my data and system and cannot even FIND the backup app on my system.  What the HECK???
Where did it go?  What do I do to back it up now?
Thoughts, wisdom?  Pleeeeease . . . .
Thx, Linda

Hello Linda,
There is a forum specifically for the iPaq in the HP Enterprise Business Community under Mobile Devices.
Here is the link to make it easier.

  • Time Machine not working after ethernet card failed

A couple of weeks back my iMac Core Duo's ethernet failed. As a logic board replacement for a 3.5 year old iMac would be expensive I instead bought an Apple USB Ethernet adapter (which works great). However, now Time Machine will not work, it says it cannot find the built in network interface. It does not matter whether I connect the external drive directly via firewire or over the network to my Mac Mini (which will backup with either connection).
    Here is the console error:
+Time Machine: Error setting backup path: Error Domain=com.apple.TimeMachine.Preferences Code=-1 UserInfo=0x1864bdf0 "Time Machine could not be configured. The built-in network interface could not be found."+
+_CSBackupGetMachineMACAddress - IOServiceGetMatchingServices did not find an ethernet service with kIOPrimaryInterface true+
I tried the instructions on the Apple Support page http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3275#5, but that did not work. Can anyone help?

Hi, and welcome to the forums.
It's a long shot, but try a "Full Reset" of Time Machine, per item #B3 of the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip* at the top of this forum.
TM uses your Mac's Ethernet Address, which is embedded in the hardware of, guess what, your logic board, to identify your computer. This is how it keeps the backups for each Mac separate, so you can back-up more than one Mac to the same place without conflicts.
To find this address, use the System Profiler app (click the Apple icon at the left of your Menubar, then +About this Mac,+ then +More Info.+
Select Network in the sidebar, then Ethernet then find a line like this: +*MAC Address: 0a:1b:2c:3d:4e:5f+* That code, omitting the colons, is what TM puts in a hidden file on your TM volume to identify it as your Mac's backups.
Since your internal Ethernet card failed, you may not see that at all. If not, neither, apparently, can Time Machine. Other than getting a new logic board, I don't think there's a workaround.

  • WRT54G Security setting for an HP iPAQ 210 wireless

I'm try to setup an HP iPAQ 210 wireless to connect to a WRT54G (Version 8.00.2)
If the PDA and modem are set for WEP and a simple key, then the PDA connects OK.
If I set the modem to WPA Personal + TKIP and set the PDA to WPA-PSK + TKIP, then the PDA fails to connect. I've tried other modes like WAP2 but to no avail.
HP says it's the LinkSys WRT54G?
    Any ideas?
    Ed..

When I checked out your iPAQ manual, I see that it was published just 10 days ago.  Since HP apparently just finished (or is still working on) the manual for your device, it would not supprise me if they were still working on the software for your device also.
My first suggestion is to make sure you have all the latest updates and drivers for your iPAQ, especially any wireless drivers.
Next, make sure that if the iPAQ has a software firewall, that you temporarily turn it off, and see if that will allow you to connect wirelessly.
Next, make sure your WPA or WPA2 password or passphrase does not have any spaces in it.  Some Linksys routers have had trouble with spaces.
Make sure the iPAQ is set to "Obtain an IP address automatically"  (sometimes called "DHCP automatic" )  and also set to "Obtain a DNS server address automatically".
If the above does not fix your problem, then the next step would be to download and install (or re-install) the latest firmware into your router.  After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
If you still cannot connect, then the next step would be to set your iPAQ to a fixed LAN IP address.  Try the following settings in the iPAQ:
IP address:   192.168.1.2   (this assumes that your router is 192.168.1.1 and that you are not using the .2  address elsewhere in your network)
    Subnet Mask:  255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway:   192.168.1.1
DNS server:  192.168.1.1  (if this does not work, then use your true Internet DNS server address  -- this info can be found in your router.)
    Hope this helps.
Please report back with your results.

  • My graphic card failed but passes the recall test - surely Apple would replace it? How wrong can you be!

Even though I had read about the product recall on some iMacs, mine had never had an issue, but to be safe, the plan was to take it to an Apple store to have them test and replace it.
A week ago, on occasion, the screen suddenly started going completely gray, everything else seemed to be working fine, and any apps running would continue to do so. Without being able to see the screen, the only options was to power it down, run any diagnostic test and start normally. It passed pro tools tests, with no warnings so I thought it could have been a software issue. After many restarts without anything else plugged in, the iMac appeared to function for maybe a day or so, but gray screen whenever it wanted to.
So I called Apple, they told me to get it into a service centre, and they would do further tests. Whilst on the phone to the engineer, my iMac with the gray screen suddenly refused to power back up. The engineers tell me that the graphic card fails any benchmarking tests with corruption and the same gray screen issue, so it looks promising yes? No. The specific tests that the machine must fail for the recall - passed.
Having spent almost an hour on the phone to a Apple senior advisor today, he tells me that it is not covered by the recall !!
The machine is one of the matching serial numbered machines in the recall, it has suddenly developed a graphic card issue that leaves the machine unusable, it suddenly started having this problem within weeks of the recall being announced - It has the faulty card in it, it has the fault - yet it does not qualify?
Can someone please tell me what I could have done to get this card replaced without the estimated £250 charge to get my machine running again.
I am a die hard Apple enthusiast, I have converted everyone I have been in contact with to purchase from them for their legendary customer services and yet feel perplexed as to what I should do next.
My first reaction is to raise a big fuss about the situation at an Apple store, but I can't blame them too much if my machine does not match the recall criteria - but come on, it can't be a coincident that this card has failed now, can it?
What do I do next. I don't want to take my machine over to proper Apple store and raise a fuss, that would be counter productive. But  really Apple
Anyone have a suggestion - would you buy another iMac that could have the same problem and get the same response?
To any Apple engineers out there who can look at  a case number my ref number is 500592345, apparently there is a lot of info in there, but nothing that will help me!

Apple engineers do not participate here. The only replies you will normally get are from people who are, like me, just fellow users, and there's nothing any of us can do to intervene in this matter.
If Apple says that your system is not covered by the recall, there's not much you can do. You can try taking your system to an Apple Store and politely - do not "make a fuss"; polite but gently insistent is much more likely to get you useful results - ask for assistance. Or you can call Apple tech support, ask to speak with customer relations, and explain the situation to them and request coverage under the recall program.
If all that fails, though, then you're probably at a dead end and will need to pay for the service if you want it done.
    Regards.

  • My Fantom backup drive is failing. I want to copy the time machine contents to a new backup drive and continue on as if nothing has happened.  Can I do this and if so how?  I have intel iMac running Mountain Lion.  Fantom Drive via Firewire 800.

My Fantom backup drive is failing and I have to send it in for warranty repair.  Before I do that I want to copy the time machine contents to a new drive and then use it for the backup, continuing on as if nothing had gone wrong with the first drive.  Can I do this?  Is it as simple as duplicating the first drive and replacing it with the second? New drive arrives Tuesday PM and both drives have dual firewire 800 ports.

I have used the Disk Utility to verify the contents of the backup drive so I don't think I have any corrupt files.  The drive just takes a minute or so to spin up to speed.  If I turn it off and then back on, it beeps at me for a few seconds and then starts it's slow process of trying to spin.  I think it's a power problem not a data problem.  I have my fingers crossed that it holds on until Tuesday PM when the new drive arrives.  I'm thinking that my two options are to duplicate the bad drive or partition the new drive and put the old backups on one partition and start afresh on the second partition.  Any input?
And thanks to both of you for the valuable information so far!

  • Backup to tape failed in DPM 2012

    I am new to DPM.
We have configured a protection group for short term goal with 7 days retention range, Synchronization frequency 6 hours. And recovery points are based on synchronization (means 4 Recovery points per day and DPM will have 28 valid restore points after a
week...!!??). In long term goals we have configured 2 recovery goals to tape ...  1 recovery point per week on saturday (retention 4 weeks) and 1 recovery point per month (on day 1 with retention range of 1 month).
Now Im getting PG status "backup to Tape failed" I want to know the process how DPM will check and verify recovery points on disk before writing them to tape.
Based on my protection group settings, there should be 4 recovery points on disk everyday. but there is something different result...see the below in reply.
    My queries are:
    1) On Saturday weekly tape job, does it require DPM to have valid 28 Recovery points?? What happen if any RP missing.
    2) Due to some issues, if weekely tape backup failed on saturday. Can we resume it on monday,tuesday..with corrective actions??
    3) the DPM process of verifying disk based recovery points before writing them to tape.

    Hi,
    <New questions Snip<
Q1) For file/volume protection, synchronization is not RP. We have to configure RP creation time manually.
A1)  Correct, file synchronizations are not recoverable, only "recovery points" are recoverable.
Q2) For application's (SQL,EXCH,SHAREPOINT) recovery points each synchronization job will create a RP as per synchronization frequency.
A2)  Yes, for applications like SQL and Exchange that support incremental backups, then incremental synchronizations are recoverable.
Q3) If a tape backup is getting failed due to invalid RP on disk, I am creating a manual RP with Express full backup(for databases) and a RP with Incremental(for file/volume share), then resuming tape backup. Is it correct way to do this?
A3) Yes, A manual Express full for application data or a manual recover point with synchronization for file / share data and that should allow you to manually create a new tape based backup from the alert.
Q4)How to enable the verify option to check the integrity of the tape backup?
A4) Simply modify the PG that has tape based protection and while on the "Select Library and tape Details" page, select the option "check backup for data integrity (time consuming operation)".
    Q5) And what is Co-Location..!!
A5) Tape co-location allows data from different protection groups to be written to the same tape.  You need to make a tape protection group set using the "Optimize usage" feature under the management - Libraries page of the DPM console.
    See the following TechNet pages.

  • The creation of the shadow copy on the backup destination has failed. Detailed Error: The Volume Shadow Copy operation failed with the error 0x80042316

When using Microsoft Backup on a Windows Server 2008 SP2 (not R2 - [Microsoft version 6.0.6002]) I get the error "The creation of the shadow copy on the backup destination has failed. Detailed Error: The Volume Shadow Copy operation failed with the
    error 0x80042316"
The odd thing is that when I start the backup manually, it works fine. When  it runs automatically the error appears.
When doing a SFC /scannow I do get errors that can't be corrected.
Is there anything short of rebuilding this machine (It's a DC and the only one this office has) I can do to fix this?

    Hi,
0x80042316 means "Another shadow copy creation is already in progress". This error could occur when another VSS instance is running.
Is there any third party backup application installed? Try to uninstall it to see the result. And please also check if there is another backup schedule which causes the conflict.
Meanwhile please provide the result of:

    Hi,
I do have Crashplan ProE running. It started at 1900 and the Windows Backup starts at 2000. I have modified Crashplan not to start until 2300 to see if that helps.

  • Who has had a PCI-DIO-32HS card fail, ever?

I've looked through the forum somewhat and I've found little concerning the card itself failing.  For instance, I found something about the card failing due to driving it with a TTL high before it was powered, but that was about it as far as actual death of the card.  Hence, I'm wondering if others besides myself, and therefore my design using the PCI-DIO-32HS, have killed or had the death of a PCI-DIO-32HS DAQ card and what was determined to be the root cause in your case(s).
Also, by chance, did your card's death also take down the PC such that it wouldn't POST (Power On Self Test) until the card was removed?
    Thank you all.

First, the issue has not been resolved yet. I still have boards dying. At $1500 a pop, this issue needs to be resolved.
I was mistaken about two things said earlier: 1) The G card has now failed; therefore, the recovery was a fluke, and 2) I thought 8.x was installed in the design's PC, but as it turns out it has been 9.x. (The version numbers are tough to remember. Sorry. I think it's 9.1.7.) Is there a known issue with that one also?
What I really want to know is why the original board I returned to NI failed. I want to know specifically what slot contacts are holding up the PC, keeping it from performing its POST? I don't want to hear any more suggestions for installing version x.y.z. without also having a specific reason for why it should work. These cards are too expensive. There's something very wrong with this design such that I can't keep the DAQ card alive using Traditional DAQ software that has run for years. The system works until (it seems) you think the problem's been resolved, and then whammo! An esoteric error number in a window is thrown up. (It's not just one error. The error can change as you try in vain to avoid cycling power as the only way out of the now dead software.) You can't run the software past a button click due to the error window, but yet the PC itself works fine...unless you cycle the power: NO POST.
What on earth in this design could be killing these cards? The PCI slot was tested via substitution with a video card and there was no issue found. I just can't keep the DAQ card alive. Help! Trying version x.y.z of the driver is not a good enough solution. Running software should not just out of the blue blow up a DAQ card and cripple the PC only at power-up. Rather, there should be an error, some incompatibility indication before the card is dead. Frying a $1.5K card...eventually...is not how you find the source of an incompatibility issue. Like I said, HELP!
I'm suspecting the software is creating a bus contention somehow which doesn't end in an error but, rather, an internally shorted IC, where I'm guessing it's the large NI ASIC just above the card edge due to the considerably noticeable heat generated while the PC tries to POST, a short that is undetectable except that the software stops working, but nevertheless a short that won't let the PC continue its POST if power is removed and then reapplied to the PC. It's like the software has had a "sacrifice(PCI-DIO-32HS, legacy_sw);" function embedded into it that only gets called under certain circumstances, circumstances that involve the power-up sequence of a PC. Help!

    Hi,
you are restoreing PC4 database on system QC4.
This requires a netbackup permission configuration to allow client QC4 to access the backup from system PC4.

  • UC560 backup to CCA failing with IOS error

Prior to doing a full upgrade of my UC560, I attempted to use CCA to do a backup of my configuration, voicemail, etc.  The process seems to get fairly far (backing up CUE), and then CCA informs me that the backup failed.
I was getting "%SYS-2-BADSHARE: Bad refcount in retparticle" errors, so I separately upgraded IOS on my UC560 (thinking this was perhaps an IOS error that had been corrected), but I'm still getting the errors.  Here's a sample of the errors I'm getting with uc500-advipservicesk9-mz.151-4.M4b :

I'm reluctant to go ahead with the rest of the upgrade without having a reliable backup.
    -Jim

As you said -- upgrading would be a bad idea.
The first thing the update process in CCA does is create a backup -- if this fails, either the upgrade will hard fail then, or if it continues, your config/data will not be imported sucessfully after the upgrade.
There are some references to that error on google -- though for a different platform.
The fix mentioned is a reboot of the router... that would probably be a good place for you to start.

  • Backup utility call failed

    Hello,
I upgraded recently the Oracle database from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2. (on AIX )
Since then, the backups do not more function correctly.
As in the BRBACKUP Action Log for Database, the following errors occured:
    - BR0232E 0 of 90 files saved by backup utility
    - BR0231E Backup utility call failed
    - Cannot reopen backint log file as stderr
So, I checked the permissions for /usr/sap/DIS/SYS/exe/run/backint, the path and permission are set properly.
I checked the also log '/nsr/applogs/backintSID.log' and I noted that the system does not write any more in this file since last successful backup (befor the Upgrade)
Many Thanks in advance for your help
NB : according to the SAP Note 948294, I deleted the options cio, dio in /etc/filesystems
    Best regards
    Latif

My current Br*tools version is : BR0651I BRTOOLS 7.10 (30). I upgraded an other DEV System before, it has the same BRTOOLS version as my test system, and the backup works well.
Firstly, rename backintSID.log to backintSID.log.1 and start a new backup. By doing so, the system will try to create a new trace file. If it is not able to create trace file, check the permissions of its directory(/nsr/applogs). At the end of this operation, could you provide full trace?
Secondy, even you are able to execute the brtools 7.10 on your dev system, I still strongly recommend update it to 7.20. Check the note 12741 - Current versions of BRTools and SAPDBA
Thirdly, is brbackup forked by a 3rd party backup application or manually at the OS level by orasid user?
    Best regards,

Sounds like your iPhone is locked to AT&T. Contact them to see

  • Backup metadata enumeration failed on projection group

I am seeing the Backup metadata enumeration failed intermittently on one protection group. It comes and goes, I'll check one time and the protection group is fine and maybe check the next day and the warning appears.  Though I can't correlate it,
it seems like when the warning is present, no item level restores can take place.   Two questions, what's the best way to research/diagnose this warning and secondly is there any definitive corrective action.

  • TS3630 Is this replacement program still in place? I have just had a card fail that is listed as being faulty. Serial number ending 1M5A

Is this replacement programme still in place? I have just had a card failed in my Mac Pro with a serial number ending in 1M5A

It should be if you meet the requirements described in the article:
This program covers affected ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT video cards three years from the original date of purchase or until July 31, 2011, whichever provides longer coverage.
However, since these cards were last used in the 2008 Mac Pros and the next model came out in early 2009 I would find it unlikely your card meets the requirements unless you bought a refurbished Mac Pro or bought a 2008 Mac Pro the had been sitting in someone's inventory for a very long time.
