IPhone 4 Returns - policy and experience clarification (US AT&T or Apple)

I'm considering returning my iPhone 4 and waiting to see how "issues" sort out before repurchasing. (the issues are well covered elsewhere on the board, would like to focus here just on return policy and experiences of others)
The stated Apple policy for iPhones is 30 days (14 days for other products, but 30 for iPhones), but says there will be a 10% restocking fee assessed (and I assume this would be based on non-discounted full list price of the phone).

Those of you who have returned your phone - did you have to pay the 10% restocking fee? Was your return to AT&T or to Apple?

There is nothing to be done. Unlocking is at the discretion of the carriers. Apple has no say in the matter at all. There is no law or regulation in the US that requires AT&T to unlock phones. Since they feel that it is not in their financial best interest to do so, they will not do so.
Apple is correct in stating it is AT&T that must initiate an unlock. Unfortunately, AT&T will not do so, so you're stuck.

    The only solution is to erase the apps and purchase them through your own iTunes Store account. You have no legal right to those apps - the license is not tranferrable - and cannot in any case update them without the orginal purchaser's Apple ID.

    No. We can't help you. Apple does not sell iPhone parts. The only sources for iPhone parts are:
    a) counterfeit parts
    b) stolen parts
    c) parts salvaged from other phones.
    In addition, the iPhone is not user servicable. Apple won't touch that phone any more.
    Find a competent 3rd party repair shop or buy a new phone.

    You probably activated the new phone will the old phone was still active. That would have linked the two numbers to iMessage. Go into iMessage and turn them off on each phone. Then turn iMessage on for your phone. When it activates, go into Settings>Messages>Send and Receive and see what numbers/email addresses are linked there. It should just be the current phone number and if desired, your Apple ID email address.
    Then have the other person turn their iMessage back on and when it activates see if it now only brings their current phone number and again if desired Apple ID email address.

    I am also receiving random text messages from some of her contacts, and she is not getting them. 

    If it's just a text message and not iMessage that is a problem with the service provider.  You should take the iPhone back to the store and explain to them what is going on.

    The only accessory I know of that can be used to transfer photos from a camera or SD card to the iPad, is the Apple Camera Connection Kit.  The kit consists of two adapters.  One has an SD card socket.  The other has a USB connector to connect directly to the camera.
    I do not think you can transfer photos from the iPhone to the iPad unless you first transfer them to a computer.  If you then transfer the photos to an SD card, they must have eight character names plus suffix and be stored in a DCIM folder, just as if they came from a camera.
    One thing you can try is to reboot the iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.  Rebootting will not hurt anything and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.

The form factor of the mini is very very appealing, but as I do a lot of photography and photography processing, the small colour gamut is quite a large disappointment as it's quite apparent to me. I had a 'play' with the air in store last night and decided on the air, but they didn't have the 32GB grey in stock so left without one. I got home and used my wife's Mini with retina all night and I had a change of heart and loved the size of the mini. However, the colour issue still bugs me.
    So the long and short of it is that I'm still as confused as ever, I really need therapy lol
    My latest thoughts are to get the Air from apple and give it a trial run in day to day living (using in store is not a true representation of usage imo) knowing that apple have a no quibble 14 day returns policy, and if I do decide I prefer the rMini after all I can swap it. I'm not sure how I feel about this morally though

    Today I went to the APPLE STORE in the Aventura Mall, Miami FL and the Staff pretended not to have heard anything about the subject, this could imply an I don't care attitude  or lack of knowledge of what is all over the news and internet on this  major issue.
    The solution given about going to settings, general, accesibility, reduce motion ON does not solve the serious problem.  What it most worry me is that I am wondering if I keep on using the IOS7 op system this issue of the motion sickness, dizziness, nauseas, etc coul cause brain damage?

    I don't think Apple would actually do anything about it. They have a 30 day return policy and if customers aren't happy with the product they can return it for a full refund. In fact,  I am pretty sure when you select agree to the "Terms and Conditions" of using the phone - it covers the fact

    People have to understand that Apple is a business and it is up to them whether they think it's a big enough problem to put in a patch to remove the effects.
    Simple solution is if you feel that you don't agree to their way of business and unable to use the iPhone to your fullest comfort, either return the product for a full refund or sign a petition...

  • Lenovo PSU concerns and Return Policy Clarification

    I recently bought an Erazer x315 with an A8 Processor, r9 255 graphics card (arriving today). However, I recently did research on power supplies and discovered it only has a 280W power supply and according to online sources, the recommended is 400W+ for this graphics card (not to mention the rest of the components). If I want to upgrade the power supply it'll be another 50-70 dollars and I don't know if I'd be voiding the warranty by opening the tower. I'd like to return it but the 15% fee is very heavy (60 dollars or so). However, I've also read that if the package is unopened I may be able to return it without the restocking fee? Is there at least a discount in the fee for unopened merchandise? Can anyone confirm this? Is there any way Lenovo would be willing to replace this power supply with a better one? This is my first Lenovo and I am pretty disappointed that they would put in an insufficient crucial component that could potentially damage the entire system. I will be doing 3d modeling as well as playing games on this so I know the graphics card will be taxed. Thank you for your help.

    You're going to need to come up with more defects than a single pixel if you want to avoid a restocking fee.  I think you need 4-5 pixels to use that.

    On March 14th I bought an iPhone the wi-fi did not work, I called Verizon support after hrs and days they could not help.(I purchase it on-line from Verizon.com) So I went to the local Verizon store was there for about 2 hrs and finally they said to come back the next day and they would have an answer which I did and they didn't they said to call Verizon to return the phone.  When I called they said to just use the label that was enclosed. I asked if I needed anything else they said no that my tracking number on the label was all I needed.  Well after many calls the last one lasting 90 minutes and the person telling me that she would fill out some form and send it to the return section and call me back.  She never called back.  I have the tracking info that it was deliver to them yet I not received a replacement phone nor a refund.  Can anyone help me?  What should I do now? Can't call the I just tried and again they start with let me transfer to this other section (no answer).  I am so frustrated I hate Verizon Customer Service or lack of -
