IPhone 4s email account read receipts?

Hey guys,
Please give me some help here.  I am new to the Apple world, I am the new owner of the iPhone 4s (32GB).  I am a student and own my own business so needless to say that I am ALWAYS on my email.  I love the capabilities that the iPhone has to offer with regards to the email services, (having both my personal account and my school account synced to my iPhone.)  I am interested in finding out how I can request a read receipt from the individuals I send emails to.  I have not been able to figure out how to do this yet, I really hope there is a way.
Please help if you can!!
Thanks again! Much appreciated!!!

UPdate:  I tested the account on my android phone it worked fine. I then tested the same account on a friends iPhone 4 and it was the same results as the iPhone 4S. Reset phone to factory and restored the phone still same issue but it is only related to the one email account from Network Solutions. I have more than one account on the same domain but it only effects this one email address. I then called NS support we ran through a bunch of tests with same results. The only way you could get the account to pull new email was to email the account from the phone to the phone. Super weird. I did find a work around but not a fix. I downloaded sparrow email client and it works fine. Not sure what was up with this but thought I would share

  • Gmail emails with Read Receipt Request are returned as "Not Read"

When reading and organizing my emails with my work gmail account that have read receipts attached to them, they are reporting "Not Read", "deleted without being read" even though I have read them. This is happening both from my iPhone and from web based gmail. It seems that upon IMAP syncing, the "Not Read" status goes out.
I believe this is linked to my iPhone because I emailed one of my coworkers on the same gmail domain an email with a read receipt attached. After he read and archived it from web based emailed (he doesn't have an iPhone), it did not return any response, either "read" or "not read". This is what previously happened with emails viewed on my iPhone.
Is there some setting for Read Receipts? How can I stop these messages from showing as deleted and not read?
    Thanks!!!

Just found this thread on GMail sync issues:
    /t5/Nseries-and-S60-Smartphones/N8-Email-Client-Sync-issues-and-deleted-emails-still-appearing/td-p/...
So far it looks good - after following the advise in the last post by Ali_L sync seems to working. Push does at least, better than ever.
    Short version:
    1. Remove your GMail account from the N8.
    2. Add your GMail account again, but this time make sure you decline the "Terms of Service" when they are presented to you.
    3. Manually configure sync intervals / GMail IMAP folders etc.

  • Can I have more than one iphone per email account?

When my son got his iphone 4s I used my email address since he didnt have one yet.  I have since gotten an Iphone 4s also, but when I went to activate it I had to put it under another email account, since mine was used for my sons iphone, so I used my husbands.  My husband now has an iphone on order and I was wondering if there was a way of having more than one phone per email account?

I would set up a new email for him.  That will give you a new icloud account.  Also any apps that he downloaded with your ID will forever be linked to that ID and can only be updated with that ID.  If that is a problem then you might delete those apps and download them again with the new ID ( and if they were paid apps you need to pay again)

  • How to back up emails saved to iPhone when email account no longer exists

I have a large number of emails that are on my iPhone 5 that I cannot afford to lose. The email account that they were downloaded from used to be a work email account but I no longer have access to it. I want to update my iOS to 7 but I am afraid that if I do that I will lose all of these emails because I don't have the ability to sync back up to the email account and redownload the data. Is there a way to actually back up these saved emails onto my pc or iCloud or any other method that would still allow me to access them. I can not forward them to another account because without the login from the original email it will not let me forward them. And I only have them on my iPhone so I can't copy them over into another email from outlook or something along those lines.
Maybe there is a way to access the emails in the iPhones file system? The phone is not jailbroken. I am running an iPhone 5 on tmobile with iOS 6.1.4
    Thanks for your help!

I forgot to mention it is a gmail account.

  • I can't empty the trash from my iPhone 4S email account. I have ios6 and up today's software.

I can't empty the trash from my 4s iPhone email. I have iOS 6 and updated software. How do I delete the emails in the trash?

There is no "empty" button. The folder is cleaned out automatically based on your settings. The default is usually one month and then the email is permanently deleted from the Trash.
What kind of email account are you using?

  • IPhone 3gs Email accounts duplicated on my iPhone

I just joined iCloud and have 2 iPhone 3gs users sharing the same iTunes and iCloud account.  Inexplicably the 3 Yahoo! email accounts I had set up on my iPhone prior to joining iCloud are now showing up twice on my phone (so if I have 3 emails in one account it actually shows 6 emails unread).  How do I fix this without screwing up my email accounts?
P.S. - If someone could respond in layman's terms it would help tremendously.

I have the same problem with all of my email accounts on my iphone 4S. But it's not the phone, it's something to do with iCloud. I hope someone can answer this question because it's really annoying. I've already removed one of my accounts from the iphone and look online. I'm considering doing the same with my other email addresses.

  • Questions about AOL accounts, iPhone created email accounts

In my Mail app on my iMac, I have been using the IMAP access to my AOL email accounts, but I see you can set up your AOL accounts on the iPhone as well. Are these two ways of accessing my AOL email the same or different?
Also, to try the push mail features of a Yahoo account, I signed up for one and then entered the account info on my iPhone, but it doesn't seem to create or sync over the account to Mail on my iMac. Stil not seeing the difference between push mail and accessing my IMAP AOL email inbox.
Anyway, should I just leave well enbough alone in that my AOL email accounts transfereed to the iPhone from Mail, or is setting them up on iPhone going to give me any different/better features? Also, should I just enter the new Yahoo account info in Mail on my iMac manually?
    Thanks much!

I also seem to be having some issues when sending email through the smtp.aol.com settings imported in from Mail when trying to send an email from my iPhone on another wireless network other than my one at home.

  • Restoring iPhone's Email Accounts / Backup Location

I want to restore my iPhone to eliminate the email address cache. One of my email accounts on the phone is for an Exchange Server account and required a certificate when I originally set it up. Does anyone know if the certificate is part of the backup, or will O need to track down the certificate again and then reinstall it?
Also, where on my Mac are the backup files?
    Thanks!

  • IPhone duplicates email account

    Hi,
My IPhone keeps duplicating email accounts since last week.
I normally have 7 email accounts (5 googles IMAP, 1 institutional POP and 1 hotmail).
It started last week when I now I had 8 account, one being the exact copy of a already existing account (a google one). When I was receiving a new email, both account would automatically show the new email.
I restored the IPhone from ITunes, and it came back to the normal situation.
Then three hours after restore, I had 12 email accounts. All the google IMAP were duplicating. And now my IPhone gives me an error message saying that one of the google account does not have the proper user name or password (when it does, I re-entered it without succes).
I searched on this forum and on google and did not find anything about this problem.
Any one had a similar problem before?

I have exactly the same problem! Even the email account that won't accept the correct password! iTunes syncs my email accounts with Outlook 2010 on a Windows 7 64-bit pc across to my new iPhone 4S and all except a new email account and the iCloud account have duplicates. I have reinstalled iTunes and deleted and re-added my mail accounts in outlook, all to no avail.
I have no idea what the problems is and am fairly disappointed about this. If anyone has any information please assist.

  • IPhone Users Email Account Settings Change Somehow and Reply to All CC's themselves

I have an odd one here for sure.
I am an exchange administrator for a organization and we believe that since getting iPhone 6's two of my execs have had
an issue where their iphone AND their ipad have issues.  It is reported that a reply to all will cc themselves on every email and we found that when looking at the mail account settings the username actually changes from [email protected] to [email protected]
We see this on both of the devices (iphone and ipad) and we feel that it began when they two execs got their iPhone 6's.
I will also add that we do not have any way for these devices to communicate with our internal network other than just ActiveSync.  There is no internal wifi network or anything like that.   We have updated the device to the latest version of iOS
and we just migrated their mailboxes to Exchange 2013.  I will add that this happened on 2010 as well and the migration just happened to be occurring during the time that we were trying to resolve it.  It has been going on for quite a while, but
is starting to make a scene internally.
We have since found that some of our regular users have this issue as well, but no one in our IT staff has seen this.  I am an Android user, but the rest of my staff are iOS users.
Anyone seen this before?  Any ideas?  How could this just flip the account settings like this?

  • Iphone 4 email accounts not available

I haven't been able to send email in quite a while.  I can recieve but not send (iPhone 4 with most recent iOS), the error I recieve is "the connection to the outgoing server "mail.charter.net" [my correct server in Outlook] failed."
I go into my Settings-->mail, contacts, calendars and all my account info is shaded and won't let me click on anything.  I used to be able to change this info but no access...I've restarted the phone several times and done quite a few google searches for help to no avail...

Check Settings>General>Restrictions>Accounts, make sure this is set to Allow Changes.

  • One .mac account two iphones multiple email address through .mac....help

    HI.
I have the .mac account in my name. I added a second email address for my fiancee. have used the .mac address for me for years and recently got an iphone which the address works fine on. My fiancee just got an iphone and want to use the email address I set up for her on our imac (I sync my phone with my powerbook). However I can't get her iphone through the .mac account set up using her address. Any ideas?

You don't need to purchase a Family Pack for this.
.Mac members can purchase up to 10 additional email-only accounts for US$10.00 each, per year. (Email-only accounts include 512 MB of storage, which can't be increased.)
If you use an alias, all messages received by your finance will be delivered to the Inbox mailbox for your account. You can't create an alias as a separate email account - it uses the user name and password for your primary account.
If you purchase an email only account for your finance, it will be a separate email account - kept separate from your email account.

  • I have an iPhone 4 and an iPod 4th gen linked to the same email address and apple ID. I am trying to set up a new email address for the iPod so a family member can use it but it doesn't want to recognize the new email account. Where am I going wrong?

I have an iPhone 4 and a 4th gen iPod linked to the same email address and apple ID. I am trying to change the email address on the iPod so a family member can use it but when I do it says it doesn't recognize the email address. Where am I going wrong ? I just want them to be able to iMessage and email without having to use my email address.

The procedure is Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at>Add another email address. The email address has to be a valid working email address, obviously. Apple should verify the email address and you have to go to the inbox of that email account, read the verification email from Apple and follow the inductions in the email in order to complete the verification. Then you go back to the settings, uncheck your email address and check the new email address to be used as the contact email address.

  • I have .me and .mac email accounts on my iPhone 4. I thought I had successfully transitioned from MobileMe to iCloud, but something must be wrong. iCloud seems to work fine on my computer and, with the exception of two email accounts, seems to be fine on

I have .me and .mac email accounts on my iPhone 4. I thought I had successfully transitioned from MobileMe to iCloud, but something must be wrong. iCloud seems to work fine on my computer and, with the exception of two email accounts, seems to be fine on my phone. Can/should I delete the accounts on my phone and start over? It is somewhat of a nuisance to have two email accounts and double the amount of emails. The only thing different about the two iCloud accounts is the email addresses. Thanks.

Well, seems I managed to unscrew this...I deleted my iCloud mail account and reinstalled it on my phone. That got rid of the duplicate .me/.mac email accounts.
