IPhone 4S horrible battery life?, iPhone 4S horrible battery life?

Last week I bought an iPhone 4S. This is my first iPhone, and I am having trouble with its battery holding a charge. After about 8 hours on standby, connected to 3g (with about 3 bars), the phone is at 15% battery life, and I'm only using it probably 15 minutes accumulated. If I turn it on Airplane mode, or have it connected to WiFi, it seems like it will last forever. But for some reason, the battery kills itself when it's connected to 3G. I have disabled most notifications, deleted my iCloud account, and yesterday I calibrated the battery. After all this, I will lay it on my desk, and check it five minutes later and be disheartened by the fact that it has already dropped 1%. I also disable WiFi if I don't plan to be using it, and I disable Location Services. Please help me!

  • No wifi and horrible battery life after iOS 7 install on iPhone 4S!

After the iOS 7 install on my iPhone 4S, my battery life is markedly worse and my phone will not connect to my home wifi. Every other device, including my wife's iPhone 5 and two iPad 2's, still connect perfectly. Please help. I wish I could go back to 6.1.3.

I've had issues since the upgrade too-messages wouldn't load, phone locked up and would turn off at random times. Then I noticed my data usage going up a ton in one day and checked and it wasn't connecting to my home wifi. Called tech support and they went through all the troubleshooting they could find and nothing helped. Had to go upgrade. You might try to reset your network settings, but that didn't help with mine

  • IPhone 4 '5.0.1' HORRIBLE battery life!

Hey guys, i have an iphone 4, and up until about two weeks ago, i never had any battery problems.
I did a factory reset to try and increase my speed as i had noticed that my phone had been getting slower.
When i reset, i just happened to upgrade to '5.0.1' at the same time.
When i took it off, i was suprised to notice that my phone was losing battery at a ridicolous speed (almost 20% per 30mins)!
Also, the phone will randomly switch off and then come up with the 'Need Charging' Icon. When i plug my phone in, it will instantly turn on and go back to the battery percentage that it shut off at.
Another thing i noticed, is when i shut it off manually, and do a hard reset, my battery percentage will jump back up!
This is highly frustrating as it shuts off all the time!
Im not sure wether this is a software or hardware problem? I rang apple and they said the problem is my battery and i have to pay £80 for a new one!
Anyone else experiencing the same problems?
    Cheers,
              Jonny

  • Iphone battery is horrible!!!

  • My iPhone 5 (ios 7.0.4) has a horrible battery. How can I fix this?

For a few months now, my phone keeps dying at 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and today at 70 percent. I don't know why it's been doing this (at first I thought it was from the cold, but it's almost May now and I don't live in a very cold climate). There's been times when it'll die and I'll be able to turn it back on without charging it (and without it being at 0%), but it doesn't allow me to everytime. Also as soon as I plug it in to charge, it'll turn on almost instantly at whatever percent it died at. I don't have app background refresh on, my brightness is at its lowest setting, bluetooth is off, etc. I just don't know what's causing this and the nearest Apple store from me is hours away. Is there any way to fix this?

Update to iOS 7.1.1. Then bring it to an Apple Store if it isn't fixed.

  • Can someone at Apple please help me with iPhone 4s battery life?

I bought two iphone 4s 16gig's the day they were released from Sprint and am having horrible battery life. I love the phone and its features, but I have tried everything I have found in the discussion groups and in other forums online and am still getting terrible battery life from the 4s's.
For example, I charged my 4s when I got home last night and then once it was at 100% charge at bedtime, took it off my charger in order to use that same charger to charge my ipad overnight. This morning, the fully charged 4s had dropped to 45% battery life...without ANY use whatsover overnight...! I just asked my wife how her 4s is doing today and hers is down to 63% since this morning with very, very little usage. (She hardly ever uses any of the data features, etc., only makes phone calls).
Something really weird also happened to the battery life yesterday while I was flying home from Venezuela. I had charged my phone overnight and did not use it at all on the way to the airport, then turned it off on the plane from Maracaibo to Miami. When I arrived in Miami, I turned it on, checked my email, sent a few text messages and also some Heytell messages during my 1:45 minute layover before turning it off before getting on the plane. Our flight was delayed due to mechanical problems and I turned the phone one in order to show my seat mates how Siri works. When I turned it on, I was shocked to find the battery percentage had dropped to sixty some percent...!
I left T-Mobile after 8+ years as a very satisfied customer specifically to get the new 4s. Was running jailbroken 3gs on T-Mobile without any problem and much, much better battery life. Needless to say, I am very unhappy with what we are dealing with. I wish someone from Apple would at least tell us what is going on or simply replace our phones if it is a hardware issue.

You need to check out some of the other threads on battery issues (but not the very long one) in this forum.  There are a lot of suggestions from users who seems to solved the problem.
But you won't get any Apple input here, as this is a user-to-user forum and Apple usually doesn't respond to out posts.

  • HT4623 Why is my battery life so short on my iPhone 4S

  • IPhone 3GS battery life iOS 6.0.1

I updated my iPhone 3GS to iOS 6.0.1 and my battery life has gotten terrible.  Use to get all day off a charge not it's dead in <6 hours.  Any fixes?

I have the same issue w/ my 4s.  My battery life was more than acceptable running iOS 6.  I updated to iOS 6.0.1 & now my battery life is HORRIBLE!!!  I just charged my phone & according to the usage, ie. Time Since Last Full Charge, was fully charged, yet it only said 94%.  I shut my phone off after unplugging it & when I turned it back on, the battery read 97%... ?????
There is definitely something that needs to be addressed w/ the 6.0.1 update!!  Really wish I hadn't gotten it!

  • I need help with IPHOne 4s IOS 7.0.4 battery life not improving

Alright, I Ned help with my iPhone 4S battler life, it is horrible, it will drain in about 12 hours. All I do is check my email, text a few people, and check a few apps. When I may school, it is a hundred percent, then I check it during school etc, when I go to bed it is about 20-30% battery life. Need help. Any suggestions? I tried a hard resets and restoring to a new iPhone etc, nothing worked.

I"m not at all sure what is the problem when you are describing your battery as holding its charge for 12 hours???
How long do you want your device to hold its battery charge???
Please see this article for tips on conserving battery charge. But PLEASE if you are looking for a device to hold its charge for LONGER than 12 hours I would suggest an android.

  • IPhone 4 poor Battery Life & Intended Obsolescence

I have two questions and will include clarifications/details.
    1) Why does my iPhone 4 have such poor battery life? I have had an iPhone 4 for a little over 2 years. I first noticed poor battery life a year and a half ago. I recently (two months ago) replaced my battery. The new battery still has the same very poor battery life problems. It does not last half a day if I use it at all. Before anyone asks, yes, I do constantly close my open applications when they are not in use. And yes, I had a brand new battery put in the phone 2 months ago. It only seemed to give me better battery life for a few days, and then it was back to very poor. Maybe it works for 6 hours now, when before the replacement it worked for 4.
    2) A larger question that probably can't really be answered here: Does Apple design iPhone's to break down and work poorly after 2 years? It seems to me, these phones are designed to be used for a year at full functionality, and then start losing speed and battery life. Don't get me wrong, I think the functionality of a new iPhone is 2nd to none, but the functionality of an iPhone after 18 months, is mediocre at best.

You did it yourself?  As Apple does not supply spare parts, including batteries, to anybody, there is your first suspect for bad battery performance.
I did not do it myself. I paid a local NYC iPhone service company. And please, what do you mean "there is your first suspect." Replacing the battery is quite easy and thousands of people have done it successfully with instructions from tutorials or sites like iFixit. Just because Apple doesn't sell the 3rd party batteries they put in their phones separately, doesn't mean tons of people haven't done it right (to the point that some can open well desgined storefronts in expensive neighborhoods in Brooklyn). You sound like a total shill. Give me evidence that replacing the battery yourself causes poor battery life. The battery I had taken out looked bad (it was slightly expanded), but the new one didn't give much improvement. Maybe an hour or two more power a day.
Does Apple design iPhone's to break down and work poorly after 2 years?
Don't be ridiculous. There are plenty of people still using 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4.
You don't be ridiculous. It may not be 100% intentional. I've heard talk about the iOS updates possibly being better designed for the new phones, so they inadvertantly become total power ***** on the older models. But this should be communicated if it is true. And I know tons of iPhone users in NYC. I know 0 who use a 3G or 3GS. And while I know quite a few people still with their 4 like me, 100% of them have horrible battery life.

  • Cannot send a text with a photo + poor battery life = RETURN IPHONE!

I am having so many issues with my iPhone 5 that I think I may just return it. I think that this has been the WORST product launch by Apple EVER! I cannot send a picture with a text message, I cannot send a group text and the battery life is HORRIBLE.
Anyone else agree or have the same problems?

Not the ones you described. I can send pictures and do group messaging, but the iPhone requires data access to do that. Is there possibly a provision error on your iPhone? And do you have an Exchange email account on your iPhone?

  • IPhone 4S - really bad battery life or faulty?

Hi! I have an iPhone 4S (16GB, black).
Ever since I have had it, I've had to charge it everyday.
To try to improve the battery life, I've done everything I know of like turning off WiFi/Bluetooth, turning down the brightness, turning off push mail (so only when i launch the Mail app, it connects to my email), I've only switched on what I use on iCloud like Calendar sync, Find my iPhone; i've turned off push notifications for apps I don't need it for, set auto-lock to 1minute, and have switched off location services for apps I don't need it for, and I made sure there is no EQ setting on the iPod/music app.
I also force-quit big apps I'm not using - I don't have a lot of apps compared to some people I know - only 19.
But with all of that, my battery usage only goes up to about 3 hours, 30 minutes. I once owned an iPhone 4 (which I sold because I wanted to switch to Android... then realised I felt lost without an iPhone so bought an iPhone 4 ha), but the battery usage on that used to last like 5 hours! My old iPhone 3G was about the same too.
But why is it so bad? I know it's got Siri, but I don't use that a lot.
I've also noticed on some occassions, the phone switches off when it still has 10% battery life left! When I try turning it back on at 10%, it comes up with the no battery icon - I did manage to turn it back on by pressing the on/off button and home button, but it likes turning off then! Yesterday, it took about 2 minutes to go from 10% to 5%, then was stuck on 2% for about 30 minutes.
When I go cycling, I use a GPS app (Cyclemeter). The iPhone 4 battery went down by about 10% when I used it (about 1 hr cycle ride), and the 4S goes down by like 25% !! - i don't leave the screen on either - it's just in my pocket using the GPS.
Could there be a fault with my iPhone/battery? Or is it just that the 4S is like this?

I have the same issue.  I have a iPhone 4S and the batter life was great under 5.0.  Then 5.0.1 came out and its been horrible.  Sometimes I can get upwards of almost 5 hours of usage, but lately I can't break even 4 hours of usage over a period of 24 hours.
Apple's software dept was supposed to issue a fix for this but they never did.  I'm pretty much done with this horrible company.  They are beginning to think they are God's gift to the digital community and a dose of humble pie would be nice for them.  And it will catch up if they keep ignoring us.  iOS5 has been the most broken and fragmented OS apple has EVER  put out.  Thank you for that Apple.

  • IPhone 3GS with fw 3.1 – battery life gets even worse

I've made the so long attended upgrade to iPhone OS 3.1 and strangely battery life has got even worse than before. The phone is using 10-12% of the battery every hour of standby; usage counter grows by 35-40 minutes for every hour of standby. This happens with a clean install and just email setup (mobileme with push), with restore or partial restore. Turning push off only makes it slightly better.
I was wondring if I were the only one experiencing this...

This is not even funny Jason... Really.
I now have a completely clean phone, installed anew through DFU. Now backups restored. Just setup my mobileme email on it and installed 2 (two) applications. iSip and DevInfo. Having push notifications and push email enabled, I'm loosing power at a rate of *8%/hour while in standby*.
Restoring my backup (which, by the way, is not an "option" but a rather important continuity pre-requisite) lets me have the same horrible battery performance. Turning push notifications and mail push off and booting the phone after that makes battery drain disappear (~1% every 1.5 hours).
Apple declares that using "Push" drains the battery 20% more. Even if this is an approximation, we're not even close to approximately 20% or 30% or even 40% increase. We're talking about battery drain growing 12-fold!
So pray try to help us – poor users – instead of repeating the link we've all seen thousands of times and that, frankly, has very little to do with how our iPhones perform in real life.
    Thank you.
