IPhone 4S wifi wasn't working. Ended up getting data fees for nothing.. Does anyone know you I need to talk to or harass to get that taken off my bill?

My phone had been reading that it was always on wifi. (not cellular)! I have wifi at work and home at my parents at my friends. So I had no reason to use that much data. Didn't realize anything was wrong til I was going through my phone I saw my wifi was turned off. Went to swipe it back on. And it didn't move at all. Well shortly after that I saw a $70 data overage charge. So I knew something was definitely wrong. And on top of it I find out it's $200 to fix my phone to make the wifi again. And that's not including my actual bill. Just irritated at this point. Anyone know who I need to talk to about this????

The carrier.  Apple has nothing to do with users billing.
Honestly, it's up to the user to ensure they are aware when they are on Wi-Fi or not.  The only one to "blame" for those usage charges is yourself.

    You must have the credentials that were used to turn on Find my iPhone on the device. Without them, you can not get past the activation lock.

    I have the same problem.  After the upgrade, my wifi is greyed out, and the battery won't hold a charge long. I reset all the settings, tried all the things suggested by Apple, but it didn't work.  I took the phone to Verizon, but they said they can't fix it, go to Apple
    I made an appointment at the Genius bar, where the staff was incredibly rude and dismissive. A representative told me that the wi-fi is broken and I would need to buy a new phone for $200, because mine is out of warranty. I'm due for an upgrade in a few months, so I'm not going to pay $200 for another 4S now.  I'm also not going to buy any more Apple products.  Their upgrade caused this problem, and they are not standing behind their producet.

    This response is a little late as I just read about your problem. I have a 2012 Dodge Charger and a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country and both worked flawlessly with the iPhone 5s my wife and I had. However, we just upgraded to the iPhone 6 and Uconnect will receive calls but you cannot answer them. You can callout successfully, however. the annoyance being the inability to answer incoming calls in the HandsFree mode.

    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on           
    Ignore the reset and when it says plae the iPod in Recovery mode
    Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:

    If necessary:

    The wish list only works on apps you have to pay for. To get it tap the icon of the app you want to save. After it opens at the upper right corner is a box with a arrow. Tap that then tap add to wish list list in the box that opens.

    I purchased and Iphone 5 directly from apple, sim free over 12 months ago now. I have been using the phone on Vodafone with no issues. I have now upgraded to the Iphone 6 and therefore sold on the Iphone to a friend of mine. He lives in Ireland and therefore has a Vodafone Ireland simcard. Given that the phone was brought sim free from Apple directly, we didn't foresee that this would be an issue. However, when he goes to activate the phone, this message appears;
    The SIM card inserted in the iPhone does not appear to be supported.
    The SIM card that you currently have installed in  this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information.
    Does anyone know what I need to do? I have got onto Vodafone, and they have been useless!! Apple say the phone is out of the 12 month warranty and therefore want to charge £25 before they will even speak to me about it. I requested an NUC from Vodafone, however, they are saying they need a proof of purchase from Apple as I did not buy the phone from them. I do not have my receipt anymore as the purchase was over 12 months ago now.

    Now you have discovered that a sim free phone and an unlocked phone are NOT the same thing.  Had you purchased an unlocked phone from Apple, then you would not have had problems and as it is, a sim free phone is not the same and sim free will lock to the first sim card that you insert into the phone, so effectively, you phone has been locked to Vodafone and this is why you now have problems.
    If your phone is locked to Vodafone, then they are the only ones who can unlock the phone for you - Apple does not and cannot unlock phone - this is the province of the carriers only.
    You had the contract with Vodafone when you used the phone and so you need to keep on at them to unlock the phone for you.  If they still require proof of purchase and you cannot give them this and they will not unlock the phone for you, then this phone is useless to the friend that you sold it to - he will never be able to use it and basically, you are looking at giving him a refund for the phone for the amount that he paid you for it.
    You need to keep on at Vodafone to unlock the phone for you or give your friend a refund for the phone as it will be useless to him and he will never be able to use the phone.
    Hope that you now understand that a SIM Free phone and an Unlocked phone are NOT the same and I hope that when you purchased your iPhone 6, that you bought an unlocked phone?

    Bubble membrane keyboards tend to wear out, use a external "clicky clack" IBM type keyboard with a nice 6 foot cable.
    These sort of keyboards last decades of heavy pounding because the key itself is designed to stop by hitting the frame before any damage occurs.
    Thing about using the extenral KB is that one takes the wear and tear of the weak bubble keyboards, also improves resale value.
    DAS has a nice Mac style external keyboard.

    This is a part of the larger MacBook Pro connectivity issue. There are several related threads dealing with the MBP's networking problems. If your unit is suffering from this type of difficulty, good luck ... (or a long ethernet cable)

  • HT1688 does anyone know how to transfer the existing music from my itunes account that i had with an ipod to my iphone?  I had my last download on my laptop which crashed and now we have a new computer.  I had to download a new version of itunes.

    I had my itunes account on my laptop which has since crashed.   I had to buy a new computer and iinstall the new version of itunes.  It did not pull up any of my information with music library, etc.  Does anyone know how to transfer existing music from my itunes account for my ipod to my iphone?

    Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss.     Odd. I can end a call with my 4S by pressing/releasing the physical button (On/Off) on the top of the iPhone.  I believe I could do the same with my old 3G.  I see no setting on the phone to change this.  Perhaps someone else can chime in.
    Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

    What do you mean by what audio/video formats are involved? These are all files from several digital cameras.
    As previously stated, AVI is a file container. It is somewhat old and its originator, Microsoft, dropped official support of it over a decade ago. However, it remains popular with PC users since almost any valid audio and/or video compression format can be stuffed to the file which synchronizes the content by interleaving the individual audio and video frames. The compression format is the specific manner in which the audio and video data are encoded as it is placed in the AVI container. You can find the compression format by inspecting the file in the Finder "Info" window, or in the "Inspector" window of the QT player (or other media player) if the file can be opened.
    For instance, one popular compression combination would be to place DivX encoded video and MP3 audio in an AVI file container. However, neither DivX nor MP3 is natively supported by the QT player. (Although iTunes will natively support the MP3 audio.) Therefore, people who wish to play such files in the QT 7 Player would normally install either the DivX component or Perian but not both. Either installation will independently play such files in the QT Player, but if both are installed, the file will usually stop working since these two codecs can create a playback conflict.
    However, the AVI container could just as easily contain DV along with DV audio. In this case, the file should play correctly in QT since this compression format is natively supported by the basic component configuration that comes in every current OS installation. Therefore, if such files suddenly stopped playing, this could be an indication that a component has been moved or deleted or that your system or QT embedded structure has become corrupted.
