Iphone 5 no signal

I have iphoone 5 on three network in the UK. Unfortunately if I go to poor signal area and phone looses connection it fails to refresh itself when I come out the blackhole. The phone  stays non functional  until I activate the airplane mode or reboot the phone. It is very dangerous as I rely on the phone in my profession. Looked at the discussions and it seems it is widely known problem with iphone 5. I had replacement phone from apple which did not resolve the issue. It is definitely not a sim problem as I put the sim in iphone 4s and the problem could not be replicated. All the troubleshooting talked about online has been teasted to no avail including the recent ios 6.02 update. Three is aware of issues with iphone 5 and claim the problem is in iphone 5 and they feel a decent update will hopefully resolve the problem.
I just wondered if apple are aware that professionals rely on iphone for communication in mission critical circumstances were lives might be at risk. Is apple happy to announce that iphone 5 should not be used by people who rely on the phone in critical situations ?. Please help..!.

same issue as me .............. my partner is on her 3rd iphone 5 and same issue ....
i hope a fix comes soon ...i also will be speaking to three next time they are open

  • Iphone 4 signal fix

    Steps
-- Read Anandtech article on iPhone 4 signal strength and identify location of antenna stops.
-- Take standard insulation tape and cut strips slightly thicker than metal strip and long enough to cover antenna gap.
-- Apply tape do the two locations using graphics from Anandtech article.

Sorry about that. Did not search properly before posting.

  • Has anyone having an issue with the iphone 6 signal cell strength on Verizon?

Is anyone having an issue with the iPhone 6 signal on Verizon?

I'm having the same issue as most of you on this forum. my current OS is 4.3.5 and after a factory reset, the camera started working fine, however, once i done the restore the camera reverted back to the same issue - "the shutter on the screen wont open, and the still/video switch just flashes" - what is more strange is, i have the HP home&biz app installed and this has a camera function and the camera seems to work fine with that, therefore suggesting there is nothing wrong with the hardware and this is a software issue. I'm currently awaiting a member of the Apple support team to call me about this, will keep you posted. BTW - someone suggested, going into Location Services and switching off the camera and apparantly, the issue was resolved for them, unfortunatly, this didn't work for me extremly odd issue indeed!

Have brand new iphone 4s. Wifi signal is very weak even when very close to router. I have also an iPod Touch and when both are side by side, the iPod wifi signal is excellent and the iPhone wifi signal is very poor??!!! Hardware issue? or software issue? I was hoping it is just a software issue, but...
Saw may web sites discussing this same issue; many discussions point to hardware problems but there is no official word from Apple about it, which is disapointing !??  Few discussions point to software problem with solutions based on try and error, and they don't seem to work.

did not help at all; the problem continues the same

  • IPhone 4s Signal Strength decreases after updating to iOS 6.1.2

    Hi,
Yesterday, I have updated my iPhone 4s to iOS 6.1.2 and the signal strength decreased from 5 bars to 2 bars. All of my phones at home with the same GSM provider shows 5 bars (full) and my iPhone 4s swings between 2 and 3 bar. Prior iOS 6.1.2 this was never the case. I would really appreciate if the developers at Apple can fix the problem as soon as possible. The low signal increase the battery consumption too.
    Waiting for your feedback.
    Kind regards,
    Cengiz Kuskaya

  • My iPhone 4 signal issues are gone...

Well, like many of people here I had the obnoxious signal loosing issue that is affecting a staggering amount of iPhone 4 users. However, I never realized I inadvertedly fixed the issue until just 10 minutes ago. I had signal issues since Day 1.
Bear with me thru this small story. I saw here a thread on MacRumors about a user experiencing camera issues on his iPhone 4. Said issue was that the camera showed a green spot in the center. I was sorta curious but never really paid much attention to it. This was 4 days ago. Flash forward to yesterday.
I was on the Apple Store picking out a new case for my iPhone 4, along with the respective screen protector. While I was doing that I saw an empty iPhone 4 demo unit and I decided to test drive FaceTime. I fired up both my iPhone 4 and the demo unit and connected. Disaster struck, my iPhone suffered from the same green spot effect as the iPhone from the user on MacRumors. Knowing full well, it was a hardware problem I set up an appointment for today at 6:30 PM.
Flash forward to today 6:30 PM. I got there at 6:15 and the Genius helped me out right away. He saw the problem, diagnosed my phone and concluded as previously stated it was hardware problem. Obviously warranty kicks in. He takes out my Micro SIM card and puts in the new iPhone (this was a brand new, not refurb unit). He activates it and hands it to me for mini inspection. first thing I do is check the camera, and against ALL odds, the same issue plagued this new phone. The Genius and I were, to say the least, shocked. Same issue, different phone. Now, how does this relate to the signal loss? Well, I am getting there so hang on tight.
The Genius does a comparisson between my iPhone and replacement unit to find the exact spot. He then pulls out his and does the comparisson to find his iPhone 4 too suffers from the dreaded green blob/spot. He then tells me there is no other replacement unit for my iPhone and that I had 2 choices. Take my current iPhone and wait if a software fix comes along, or take the replacement phone with me. I decided to wait and keep my phone (it is a hassle to resotre everything to previous state). So the Genius reswaped the SIM card to my phone back and handed it to me. (My iPhone spent 15 minutes with out SIM card while the Genius did all his tests on my and replacement unit, and while he asked for 2nd opinions on the green blob issue)
I went on my merry way, but realized something now. No matter what position I held my iPhone 4 in, the signal never decreased. I held it the many ways I know the signal issue pops and nothing. No bar loss, no signal loss, no call drop. NOTHING. So there you have it.
I am theorizing that moving the SIM card had something to do with the signal issue, because the only thing I have done to my iPhone 4 differently is take out and reinsert the SIM card. Other than that no other changes to it. No setting change, no software change no nothing. Just reinsertion of the SIM card. Now, to prove my theory, I need people who can test this and see if this fixes their iPhone. I know it did on mine, but on yours?
    Check it out.
PS - No, I did not have the green blob issue fixed.
My original thread is found here:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=955742
Many users are claiming (me included) the signal issues being fixed.

I have "death-grip" issue. Just ejected SIM card to test SIM contacting the SIM tray issue. I have a 10x loupe and inspected the area in question (SIM card gold contacts touching tray) and I found that there is a space between contacts and SIM tray. Under 10x magnification you can easily see how precice my SIM card was made and cut. There's also a relief rout around contact area. Also there is a thin film of some non-conducting material between SIM card and SIM tray where the tray supports the card. This SIM tray even has the IMEI and Serial number etched on it and under 10x magnification you can appreciate the fabrication and close tolerances even this SIM tray is made to.
I followed all instructions on the macrumors forum and this "DID NOT" solve my "death-grip" issue and I can verify with 100% certainty that the SIM contacts are not touching the SIM tray anywhere.
I do hope this helps others but I am still hoping that this can be rectified with software.

  • Recommendations for an iPhone 3G signal amplifier or antenna??

My new iPhone 3G happens to be getting 1/2 of a bar worth of cellular signal (on the 3G network) in the same place my old iPhone got a full signal when it was using the Edge network?? I've confirmed that this is due to an apparent lack of 3G coverage in the particular location I am trying to use the cell phone by simply switching off the 3G option on my new iPhone, at which point I get full bars and a much clearer reception...
I would hate to have to manually switch back and forth between Edge and 3G on a regular basis in order to use my phone, so until some App developer releases a program that would allow me to have some sort of an automatic switch from Edge to 3G based on my location, I was hoping that someone might be able to recommend a compatible 3G signal amplifier/antenna that would boost my 3G network coverage?
Does anyone know of such a device that would work with the iPhone 3G (specifically to increase/enhance its 3G network connection range/visibility)?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!

  • Iphone 4 - signal issues after upgrading to latest ios 6

I upgraded to ios 6, as suggested by itunes on my iPhone 4 and that's last day i was able to make a peaceful call.
My signal just goes for a toss once i make a call. I see the 3g Symbol vanishing and the other person is not able to hear me but i am able to hear them.
Once i disconnect the call, the signal changes to E and then goes to 3G. Tried the below solutions as suggested in forums, but no luck
Please help..I am missing my iphone terribly.
    1) Shift + Restore using itunes - Didnt work
    2) Reset to Factory setting - Didn't work
    PLEASE HELP !!!!

I have taken it out of the case - I figured it would obstruct the sensor (also have no screen protector).
Only thing I haven't tried from the Basic troubleshooting steps you mentioned was to "restore as new".
That I did try it tonight (succesffully restored), BUT my problem still exists.
You mentioned to go in the MAC store > Would they replace it (for free) if they reach the conclusion it's some sort of manufacturer faulty wiring even if it's a 3Gs (as an old model)?
Would they still if phone had water damage (this I'm just curious - the phone didn't)?

  • HT1976 Iphone 4s signal dropping to no service

My iphone 4s giving me no service
I have to restart phone every 5 min
When I restart i get full signal and after few second It start dropping and stop on 2 bar and after few more seconds it give no service.
What cloud be the issue ?
Its hardware (if its hardware what component I need to change or repair.
If its software then what is the solution.
I am in Pakistan and here we have no apple store or genius bar facilities.
Help me to solve the issue otherwise iphone is non useable at the moment.
I need quick reply from Apple team.

If you have tried a restore as new expecially in DFU mode you have done all the software troubleshooting neccesary this narrows it down into a hardware issue.
Apple does not recommend doing any repairs on your own because it will void your warranty however
You would be looking into repairing your Signal Antenna
Before doing this repair i would suggest contacting your carrier and having them reset your cellular network just in case
    Good luck
Let me know how it goes

  • Iphone 4 signal problems

i have an Iphone 4 that has been unlocked through apple. the operation of the iphone itself is fine, its just that it shows no signal and then pops up signal in random areas. however whenever i run my errands of some sort and come upon a area that has GREAT receptoin, it begins to work. when i move from that area, it stops working once again. what can possibly be the problem? please help.

I started having problems with calls being dropped after I updated the OS. The battery kept getting warm and drained quickly. I sent the iPhone back for repair and they told me there was nothing wrong. I spoke with several people who had AT&T and iPhone 4 and we all had reception problems AFTER the update. I have had to have the phone replaced twice within a month after the latest update. I think it is a software issue since I keep running into people with the iPhone 4 with same signal or battery issues. Think I will wait before upgrading to the 5S or 6 given the problems I am hearing about the current model.

  • Still got questions regarding iPhone 4 signal.?

Ok buying a new iPhone tomorrow, currently, have the 3GS, which am quiet happy with, but am in a complex situation, with vodafone uk, wereby, I need to decide within 7 days, whether to choose an iPhone 4 or something else. Now the only worry I have is the signal of the iPhone, which I have come to get used to on my 3GS, and can live with it, cause I bought the handset cheaper, however the iPhone is going to cost me at least a thousand pounds in contract for 2 years, so want to make the right descision. So like I have said, having read a lot of info and it appears, thez, not much difference, in terms, of the signal, between, the 3GS and iPhone 4. Intact most are actually claiming better signal, on the 3GS. So is this the case, please please, help me out, with this answer, as I desperately, need to make a descision, on whether or not to stay, on my 3GS, based on signal.

    marvi0
Well, I guess I am here because of my negative feelings toward the iPhone 4. I agree with the comments already made, but that's not the complete story. Last week I returned 2 iPhone 4 because of reception problems. As stated by myself and others you must have a strong enough signal or be using a case/bumper else you will have reception problems.
If you purchase the iPhone 4 and find you are having reception problems you can call Apple Support. One of the first questions they ask you is wether or not you are using a case or bumper?
Other than that the iPhone 4 is fantastic!
I really wish that consumers were not so willing to work around this issue with a case or bumper. This only helps discourage Apple from ever really fixing the problem. Its looking more and more like I may have to wait for the iPhone 5.

  • Are there any IPhone antenna signal booster available

    Hi,
We have two iphones in our family. The problem is that usually we have VERY poor signal strength in our house. I've gone to ATT's site to check out coverage (they have a map of signal strength by geographical location on their site) and sure enough, we live in a zone with poor signal strength. If we lived a block away, in any direction, from where we live now, we'd have great signal strength available. Sometimes we have good signal strength, but those times are few and far between, and the number of bars showing signal strength often changes right before our eyes.
We love the phones, but they are of little use to us while at home. So ... we wondered if there is a solution out there for us. Are there signal boosters, or something like that, which might help us out?
If there are, where would we look for one? Would we need a special kind?

Sorry, no feedback on this yet. I was hoping someone else would have already tried a booster or repeater or whatever they are, and post a comment about them here. We went to the ATT store in Pismo Beach and stood there for fifteen minutes waiting for someone to help us and then left. Two doors down there is a Radio Shack, and although these antennas are listed in their online catalog, the two guys who were working there didn't have a clue. Actually, Radio Shack was kind of a funny experience because one of the guys just said "we don't have any" and then just walked away from us to return to the movie he was watching on the large screen TV across the store. I swear!
Then, we went to another ATT store located on the south side of Santa Maria and we finally got a guy who not only knew what we were talking about, but was actually helpful. Though they didn't have any antennas for us at the store, he discussed the effectiveness of antennas with us, and was truthful enough to tell us that the information he was relating to us was just information he had heard from his friends, but that he had no personal experience with using these antennas.
Anyway, one of the posts at the top of this thread lists a site to check out, and it seems to have most of the brands we heard about in our search. It appears that they run in the neighborhood of $300 for a good one, and you can spend up to about $1,000 for one of the best models available.
I think we're going to spring for one of the $300 models and see if it works for us, but probably not until next week.
Sure seems like a lot of $$$ for phone service. I don't blame Apple for this at all. It just seems like ATT ought to provide better service, either through more towers or some other way. That's just mho.

  • Iphone looses signal with every call.

i recently received a phone call and when i tried to answer it my phone froze and lost signal. now everytime i try to make a call it looses its signal and says call failed, then it searches for a while and sometimes says no signal or it will give me all my bars again. when i make the call it has a full signal then drops down to none. i can still text, just not get or make calls.
    please help!

yes i have reset the phone numerous times.
and it happens everywhere i go.
Next step is to restore the phone in iTunes, first using a backup and if necessary as a new iPhone. Also, get a new SIM card from AT&T. Beyond that, you have to get warranty service by making an appointment with an Apple Store Genius Bar,

  • IPhone losing signal

Hello there. I am having huge problems with my iPhone 3G and looking for some advice or help. My iPhone keeps loosing gsm signal and i get no service message in the top left corner. I tried hard reboot and switching airplane mode on and off. Also tried resetting network settings. Nothing seems to help.
It all started happening while I was on 2.2.1. After that I switched to 3.0. beta which solved the problem. Then I switched to 3.0 regular and it was OK until i installed ippc file in order to enable tethering on my iPhone. Does anyone know what can I try to solve this problem. It' s getting frustrating. No one can reach me for hours and calls keep droping. Thanx!

Hey guys, sorry to jump in so late here, but thanks to Google I found this thread. The past 4 weeks my IPhone 3G has been terrible. Full signal one minute "searching/NO SERVICE" the next. It's VERY frustrating. I just took some advice here and pulled out my SIM card and inspected it/reseated it. All looked fine. After that I deleted a bunch of apps I wasn't using. SO FAR it's been 3 minutes and the phone hasn't lost it's service. That's the longest it's worked in weeks. I've been rebooting my phone 30-40X/DAY. If it continues I'll bring it to Apple and see if they'll replace the SIM Card.
