Iphone 5 spontaneously vibrates in silent mode.

When my iphone sits in silent mode, sometimes it spontaneously vibrates with no notification. There's nothing that shows any notification for mail, facebook, twitter etc. Anyone else having this happen to them??

Yes, my sons iPhone 5 has the exact same problem. Sent it to Apple for repair, they sent it back saying they could not find any error. First time I held it, it happened again several times.
The vibration is followed by the "silent" symbol - it believes the phone has been switched to vibration / silent mode. Hope they will fix it in 2nd attempt.

My iphone 5 is stuck in silent mode (even that I'm turning off the silent mode by using the switch). I already restore it but it didn't help. Anyone can help?

If you go to Settings > Sounds do you have the volume bar for ringer and alerts moved to the right so the volume is high enough to hear?

I think you're using a Lion developer version. Open  > About this Mac > More Info, and copy Software here. Did you purchase Lion in the App Store?

  • HT4623 phone is not vibrating in silent mode

I have turned on the option of vibrate on silent in settings but my phone is not vibrating in silent mode

My iPhone 4 won't vibrate at all on a phone call, whether on ring or silent. It does vibrate on alerts and alarms. Is there something I'm missing?

  • How to make iPhone side switch vibrate or silent?

I rarely use the ringer on my iPhone. I frequently need to switch between silent and vibrate though. Can I make this easier by making the side switch vibrate and silent rather than silent and ringer?

No, you can't change the function of that switch. Sorry.

  • Iphone won't stay on silent mode!!!

This has become a problem at work.  I have my Iphone set on silent mode and after a couple minutes, it will switch back and forth between normal and silent.  Note that I am not touching the button on the side and it is not stuck in the middle or anything.  What do I do?

Making the back up covers yourself from losing data. Restoring as new device will show if the issue is hardware or software related. You're reloading the iOS onto the phone. Think of restoring as new device like a brain transplant for your phone. You replace a possibly defective "brain" with a brand new one. Now if the body, your phone, isn't damaged, then giving it a new brain, iOS, will allow normal function. But, if you've broken you're arm, a new brain isn't going to heal it exactly. Here's where my analogy breaks down because unlike your arm, the phone isn't going to heal itself from resting in a cast. My guess is you need to send it in for repair.

  • Why won't vibrate in silent mode?

Under settings, vibrate ON is the setting under sounds under both silent and under ringer. Yet, the phone does NOT vibrate under silent, only when it rings. When it is set on silent is when I really can use the vibrate.
I can't figure out what to do. have latest ios on this iphone4. No other problems. Love the phone otherwise.

Are you turning off the sound using the silence switch, or by setting the volume to minimum? Try leaving the ring volume on and then turn off with the switch.

  • IPhone won't vibrate on silent

iPhone 4 won't vibrate when called.  It's set on silent.  It used to vibrate, but it stopped.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • IPhone takes a moment to vibrate when turned on silent mode

When I click the little switch on the left side of the iPhone it doesn't vibrate right away it takes a few seconds, my moms iPhone and friends iPhone both do it instantly. I've tried closing all my apps but it still does it, any way to fix this?

I went into settings and changed the vibrate setting to only vibrate in silent mode, and when i put it in silent mode it doesn't vibrate. The only time it will vibrate in silent mode is if i have it set to vibrate all the time which i don't want. Any help would be appreciated it. I just got my phone last week so i'm still fairly new at it.
Also on a side note does anyone notice the in call volume being slightly lower, or is it just me. My old phone when I had my in call volume maxed out i could hold the phone away from my ear and hear them clear as day. With this phone i have to have the phone pressed against my ear to hear clearly. I didn't  know if that was a 2.2 issue or what because all my other speakers work great and are very loud I had to actually turn down my media speaker. Thanks again God Bless.
I may can help you with this but it would be easier if I knew what alert you are wanting to vibrate because as reported in other post that there is a number of settings for the device to alert you.
    1. Check Setting/Sound/Vibrate and change setting to Vibrate "Only in Silent Mode"
    2. Under Messaging click Account Name/Left Menu Key/Email Setting/Notifications/Check Vibrate...This option is listed under all accounts listed under Messaging ececpt SMS.
    3. For Gmail has to goto to Gmail/Left Menu Key/More/Settings/Vibrate/Only When Silent
If this doesnt resolve issue, you may want to look into Audio Manager or WidgetLocker, I use both of these and I never have to worry about the vibrate option because Audio Manager places all volume options in one place and WidgetLocker allows you to toggle from Ring-Silent-Vibrate just by swiping a slider on lock screen.   Hope this helps you.

  • IPhone 4s stuck in silent mode?

My IPhone 4s is stuck in silent mode. The red dot is not showing; my volume is turned up all the way. But when I get calls or texts, my phone only vibrates, and I can't hear the keyboard clicks. I know my speaker still works because I can get Siri to talk and I can hear my music playing. I've restarted it and restored it. It's not stuck in headphone mode, because even with headphones in I can't hear alert sounds or keyboard clicks. Any help so I can avoid the Genius Bar?

I have the same problem with my iPhone. I believe the silent switch is broken. I found a little work around though. Go to Settings-General-Accessibility scroll to the very bottom and turn on AssistiveTouch. In the top left corner of your screen a black box with a circle will appear. Select it then select device. A menu will pop up and on the right will be a selection for Mute/Unmute. You can then go back and turn off AssistiveTouch and the setting will remain applied.
    Hope this helps you out.

  • How can I change the settings such that the phone does not vibrate when I receive a message in silent mode, but vibrates for calls?

I'd like the phone to vibrate when I receive a call when it is in silent mode (as it already does) but I'd like it to not vibrate when I receive a text in silent mode. I know how to set both (calls and texts) to not vibrate in silent mode, or choose no vibration for texts when loud or silent, but not what I just mentioned. Thanks.

Try this - Settings > Sounds > Text Tone > Vibration (at the top) > None.
Edit - just read the last part of your post closer and I'm not aware of such an option.

  • Iphone silent mode

My Iphone regularly gets knocked onto silent mode. The switch is poorly placed and to easily knocked. Is there anyway to create two functions to put it on silent rather than just move (knock) the switch?
    Thanks Jeff40

    No.

  • Iphone 5 goes in silent mode randomly after updating to ios7

I have noticed after latest IOS7 upgrade my iPhone 5 randomly goes into silent mode. First I thought it's some new feature when battery goes low ,however it seems that this behavior is not limited to low battery. It can happen anytime.
I couldn't find any setting related to it.
    Can anyone help?

    Hey Preetipicean,
I would first try resetting your device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
via: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
And if that doesn't resolve the issue then I would backup the device to iTunes and restore it. Just be cautious and back up first, since restoring deletes all content and settings:
