IPhone email password problem

I have changed my email password on my iMac, iPad and iPhone. My mail works perfectly on all these devices except the iPhone, which will not let me send any emails. I can't figure out why. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Try retyping your password in:
Settings<Mail, contacts, and calendars
Tap on the account
Tap on your email address
Go to outgoing server
Go to primary server
Delete and retype in the password

BT email passwords are correct but my connection through Thunderbird keeps getting rejected. Being getting worse for the last few days and won't work at all today.

Thanks for posting. If you’re still having problems with your passwords I can look into that for you. Drop me an email with the details, you’ll find the “contact us” form in the about me section of my profile.

  • Email password problem!!

I've had this macbook for about 1-1/2 years and for the first year or so had no email-related problems. However, for the past 6 months or so, I have password problems relating to one of my email accounts. Several times per day (even several times per minute), I will get a message on the screen something like this: The incoming mail server incoming.verizon.net has rejected the password for the account (my personal email account). Please re-enter the correct password. There is a little checkbox "remember this password in my keychain". Doesn't matter whether I check this box or not, five minutes later the message is there again.
I have gone to Preferences/Accounts, deleted and re-entered the password, but it has no effect. I have three other email accounts on this macbook that are unaffected.
Can anyone help? I'm getting reeeaaaalllly frustrated.

    Hi there!
OK--some confusion here. There are two types of accounts to discuss -- your BIS account and your email accounts.
BIS is Blackberry Internet Service, the service, hosted by your carrier, that provides the conduit between your BB and your internet facing email services (e.g., Yahoo, Gmail, etc.). BIS has credentials for accessing it.
Your email accounts likewise have their own credentials. These credentials are stored within BIS so that it can, without your intervention, check your email services and see if there's anything to deliver to your BB...and do so if there is.
The screen you described sounds like your BIS credentials screen -- those credentials are whatever they are. And probably not the same as your email account credentials. You need to know what your BIS credentials are..they are yours. If you don't know them, then you need to contact your carrier for assistance as they manage your BIS account.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Email Password Problems (Password corrupt?)

    Hi there,
I need a mod to have a look at a friends email password for her.
She hasn't been able to receive email for around 10 days via Windows Live Mail on Windows 7.  It suddenly stopped working with no changes made to the settings.
I've logged on remotely and checked all settings, all settings are fine. We have reset the password 3 times now via the instructions on the BT Support Site and via Desktop Help. The password resets successfully but when we enter the new password we still get the same error.
The ports were different when I first logged on to what they are here - http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/44917/c/346
I have changed them now to reflect the instructions in that link but still no joy, we still receive the same error whatever the settings
Unable to send or receive messages for the Btinternet (xxxxxxxx) account. An incorrect password was entered. The next time you send or receive messages, you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this account.
    Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server Response: -ERR [AUTH] invalid user or password
    Server: 'mail.btinternet.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC92
    Protocol: POP3
    Port: 995
    Secure(SSL): Yes
I should add that I tried setting up a new IMAP account and the password worked fine that way but we don't really want to have to go through the process of transferring all the old mail stored in the inbox and sent folders etc on the laptop from the POP account to the new IMAP one if we set one up.
Could a mod please check what is happening with the password please and whether it is corrupt somehow?
    Thanks in advance.

If  the password works on webmail and IMAP it is more likely a setting on your Windows Live Mail that is incorrect or her Windows Live Mail account has become corrupted. If the settings do not work you should save all her emails and then delete the account and re-set it up.

BT support says unable to assist.
    Any ideas?

Pleae do not think me a fool have had androd apps for email for years.
Everything is right, it is an BT issue, I have 2 otehr BT accoutns that work fine.

  • IPhone email sending problems

I have manually set up my email account on my iphone. I can send and receive messages just fine when I am at home using my wireless network. However, when I am not home and I try sending email via Edge or a WIFI hotspot, I get an error message saying my message cannot be sent. I can, however, receive mail. My ISP is Charter, a local cable tv and internet service. According to Apple's Article #305634, the problem may be with the port settings. As suggested in the article, I called Charter and they told me that port 25 is not blocked. If port 25 is not blocked and I can send/receive fine at home, why can't I send over Edge or at a WIFI hotspot? Thanks for any help.
      Mac OS X (10.4.10)
      Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Sure. Once you have your GMail account, make sure you enable POP access, and configure it to leave messages in your inbox when accessed via POP. You do this from the GMail screen (from your main computer browser after you've signed up for the account and logged in), then go into Settings, Forwarding and POP.
Then go to your iPhone, click on Settings, Mail, New Account, Other. There you can enter your name, your Charter email address, and an account description (like Work Email).
Next, enter your incoming server address. Unless you've forwarded your email from your Charter account, you need to enter your Charter account incoming server information, along with your Charter ID and password.
Next, enter your outgoing server address. Here, you will enter smtp.gmail.com, your new GMail ID and GMail password. Hit save, and you should be good to go! Go back to the home screen, hit the Mail button, and send out a test message to see if it works.
In my experience, setting up the GMail outgoing server automatically sets up the SSL settings, so you do not need to go back into Advanced options for anything. If it doesnt work, go back into Settings, Mail, Work Mail (or whatver you called the account), and advanced. Your outgoing server should have SSL turned ON.

  • TS1398 iPhone WiFi Password Problem

I have a wireless network that I connect with on my MacBook but not on my iPhone.  When I try to login to the network I get an error message saying the password is incorrect.  This is the same password that I am using on the MacBook which works fine.  Anyone have any ideas?

Forget the network (in settings/WiFi). Reboot the phone by holding the HOME and SLEEP buttons until an Apple logo appears, then try again.
If that does not resolve the problem go to Settings/General/Reset - Reset Network Settings.
BTW, if it is a 40 bit WEP key it must be key 1 (although I hope no one uses WEP anymore, regardless of key length).

  • IPhone/Email Password

I recently changed jobs and my work email was what I used for my iTunes, iPhone, iPad, etc.  Also I have other emails addresses that I look up on my iPhone and iPad. Since I no longer have my work email address I want to get it off of my devices.  When I try to in Settings, iTunes & App Stores I've changed it but I keep getting the Apple ID password request for my old job email address.  And also it's bouncing back on iCloud also.  It's driving me crazy!!

If you have any content(apps) on your phone obtained with that ID, these apps can only be updated using that ID. All apps are forever tied to the ID used to originally obtain them. For icloud, you can't change the ID, you have to delete the account, then set it up with your new ID: Settings>iCloud...scroll down...delete account.

  • RE - Email Password Problems - KerryG

All well and good, Kerry.  Unless you have an Apple.  Then Safari tells you you are being directed to a site it does not recognise, which does not have a "Valid Certificate" and which could be posing as a BT Site.
I personally would not want to continue beyond that message, so I can't change my email account passwords.  The only way I can do it myself is to set up a new email address and delete the old one which is not very helpful.
Although a BT rep rang me and offered to change password over the phone, I'm not too happy about doing that either.  I can't believe I'm the only Apple/BT user to get this message.  I can accept to may use different servers or even different providers to deal with the various aspects of your service, but surely you could have a word with Apple and make sure all your contractor/sub-contractor sites are suitably certified?
If this doesn't improve soon, its byebye BT as I need a secure email account and I need to be able to reset my password myself.

    Hi.
Have a look at my shortcuts, option 3 for a direct link to the password change area. There is no real need to specifically change the password when the server is throwing up access problems.
(I've checked the link in Safari on Win 7, and it brings up no specific certificate.)

  • Intermittent email password problem

    Good day,
My girlfriend has been using her btinternet email account for a few years without issue, but about a month ago she started getting intermittent login failures to her BT Yahoo email account; Outlook pops-up the "request network password" and Thunderbird pops-up a message about the name or password being invalid. There are no error codes. However, if she uses a browser; Firefox or Internet Explorer, there is never a problem (so we know the password is correct), but if she uses an email client like Outlook or Thunderbird then increasingly, the client is unable to retrieve emails for several hours and usually whilst she is doing something else like using Excel, the emails suddenly burst into life. I work in IT as a Unix sysadmin so know my way around this basic stuff (or so I thought) but I cannot figure out what is going wrong here. We have just spent 5 hours talking to four different Indians who do not seem to understand the problem and certainly have not been able to help. Strangely enough, if we login using a browser then invariably the email clients start working, albeit for an hour or so. We have access to two computers:
Desktop running Windows XP and using Outlook 2003.
Laptop running Windows 7 and using Thunderbird.
If I use her laptop from my home then the issue is still there, which eliimates anything on her hub. If I add her email account settings to Thunderbird on my Mac I get the same issue; sometimes I can retrieve her mail, sometime I cannot.
Nothing has been changed on her desktop but I have tried just about every setting for SMTP in Thunderbird, some work for a short while. One of the Indians remotely checked Thunderbird on the laptop and another checked Outlook on the desktop. Of course email worked just fine as they insisted we sign on with the browser. Email failed less than 10 minutes after the first call ended today and with the operator insisting email is fixed forever!
It appears to me that some "rule" or setting on the BT mail server is causing the issue but as no-one seems to be able to help I am turning to the user community for something more tangible.
    All ideas, suggestion welcome.
    Kind regards,
    Rob

Hi Rob. Welcome to the forums.
A few weeks ago, there were some serious issues with the mail servers causing the problems you are now seeing. Although I wouldn't say it has been fixed completely, it has certainly massively improved. However your case is probably something that seems to happen from time to time, and is typically a fleeting error - but may last a few days.
Have a look at my shortcuts, link below, option 0d/h and alter the server names. That can very often clear the problem you are seeing.

  • Iphone emails deleting problems

My iphone is synced to my main email account so I receive emails on both, I've received a very big file with an attachment of nearly 20Mb! I now can't delete this email as every-time I do it crashes my phone. The screen either goes black then back to desktop or it just wheels around 'checking for mail' then crashes. Any thoughts?

True but then what's the point of using the mobile device then I never had issues till the new iOS came out

  • Iphone email sending problem

I cannot send an email. I get the message "A copy has been placed in your outbox.  The sender address ** was rejected by the server." How can I correct this?

I am having this exact same issue. Was there ever a resolution? It seems that I can reply/forward emails that do not have attachments, but if I try to forward an email with an attachments, I get the same error. "A copy has been placed in your Outbox. No password provided. Please go to Mail Account Settings and enter a password."
My password is already entered in the outgoing server, I have checked it multiple times as well as deleted and re-setup the account, in addition it does send out some emails just not all of them.  Please let me know if you can help! Thanks.

  • Email password problems and phone help so usless.

    So fed up with BT.
Last week I was forced to change my password over and over and over and over.
'We've detected some unusual activity on your email account.......'
Which everyone on this forum knows is rubbish, and is just some glitch that BT cannot sort out. Its been going on for years.
The fall out from this is that although I can now recive mail I cannot send it in Windows Live mail.
BT operator tells me they have no training for Windows Live Mail and cannot help me. Thats it apparently, I've got to like it or lump it. Thanks BT.
Isn't Windows Live Mail one of the most popular email programs out there?

  • Email password problem - please help!

    Hi there,
I tried to log into my email account but it wouldn't let me. It kept saying invalid password even though it wasn't. Anyway, i managed to change it. I received an email from
BT Yahoo! My Account Services <[email protected]
not long after, saying the following:
Your password for this account has recently been changed. You don't
need to do anything, this message is simply a notification to protect
    the security of your account.
Please note: your new password may take awhile to activate. If it
doesn't work on your first try, please try it again later.
DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE.
You can always change your password by doing the following:
    1. Sign in to your cobranded service
    2. Go to My Account
    3. Choose "Change Password"
The thing that i find odd is that the email was sent to two email addresses but i only have the one with BT. My email address ends with @talk21.com. The email was sent to that email address but also to another one that was very similar to mine but ends with .[email protected]
I'm a bit confused. Is this a genuine email? And if so, where did the second email address come from? I sure didn't set it up.
Thanks in advance for your response.

    Hi.
Talk21 email addresses can also be accessed via a BTinternet email address. This was done a few years ago when BT effectively took over talk21. The first bit (stub) of the talk21.com email address was attached to .t21 and ended with @btinternet.com
This talk21 "btinternet" version is little known, however I know about it
The email is genuine as already mentioned.
