IPhone Packager, weight and start up performance
Hi All
I have a question about the Iphone packager, but first i can describe my main project structure.
project-api ( only interface ) - swc - 32ko
project-core ( implementation ) - swc - 825ko
project-flex-app - swf - 2.000 ko
project-mobile-core ( implementation of project api for mobile device ) - swc - 99ko
project-mobile-app - swf size - 2.800 Ko
project-mobile-app - IPA - 12.390 Ko
Note that there is a lot of other dependencies such as springactionscript, crytoUtils etc...
Im actually using flashbuider 4.5, flex 4.5.0
So the problem is, my IPA weight 12 Mo. Once the application is deployed on the phone, it weights 30 Mo
If i take a look at the mysizereport.xml ( with -size-report=mysizereport.xml compiler option )

So im asking why IPA is so huge, why my application take 18 seconds to start, and what can i do for
reduce size and start time. Is IPP include all as class in the IPA ?
Note: once the application is started, performance are good.

Im also having performance issues when launching an as3 app (1.2mb apk), but on android (havnt tried iphone yet).
I dont have an answer but a few observations.
1) Install app onto mobile using adb install myapp.apk . Launching initially on android the app takes 18 seconds ish to load. App plays fine. Now kill/ close the app. Relaunch the app. The app now launches in 2 seconds...
2) Relaunch the app several times and it loads in 2 seconds each time.
3) Turn off the mobile device for a few minutes. Switch back on. Launch app, app loads in 2 seconds.
4) Delete/ remove app from mobile device. Reinstall using adb install myapp.apk. Launching takes 18 seconds. Kill the app. Relaunching takes 2 seconds...
Like i say, no answers here but just a few observations...all i can assume from this is that as3 apps are very slow to run on initially, typically 18 seconds, but run fine ever after....??
Why is the app so slow to launch initially? If anyone has any thoughts on any of the above id be very interested to hear them.

I just tried to update my iphone 4 to the 5.01. It said that my phone backed up and started update. i went on a run and came back and my phone is now stuck in recovery mode. It keeps saying that there is an unknown error, 1. I have tried everything on the troubleshooting list and cannot figure out what is wrong! Please HELP!!!

why does the iPod on my iPhone 5 stop playing for no reason? Also, I tried to shut it off using the ear phone piece but it wouldn't shut it off.

Put it in a dry place for a week (a rice box is a good idea) and try to use a hair air-blower (warm but not hot) to dry it. -

When my view based app starts, once the screen turns black
then after a short while, view componets are displayed.
But when pre-installed apps start, the screen immediately
displays navigation bar and background.

By including Default.png, the impression of the start up time was quite improved.
And I would like to know the details about "loading view in chunks".
My app creates subviews in viewDidLoad method now, but is there better way?
Also I would like to know how to load data lazily.
I am afraid the start up time will be slower if the size of the app data increases. -
My iPhone 5 says it is connected to iTunes and starts syncing when it isn't connected
Everytime I open my itunes it says that my iphone is conncted and starts to tell me it is syncing the content, how can I fix this? thanks

It sounds like Wifi syncing may be enabled in iTunes. The article iOS: Syncing with iTunes found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1386 outlines how to enable Wifi syncing but rather than checking the box that enables it, you would uncheck it.
Wi-Fi syncing
Open iTunes
To set up Wi-Fi syncing, connect your iOS device to your computer with the included USB cable. Select your device under Devices on the left-hand side.
In the Summary tab, select "Sync with this [device] over Wi-Fi".
Whenever the computer and the iOS device are on the same network, the iOS device will appear in iTunes, and you can sync it. The iOS device will sync automatically when all of the following are true:
The iOS device is plugged in to power
iTunes is open on the computer
The iOS device and the computer are on the same Wi-Fi network
While the iOS device appears in the left-hand column of iTunes, you can select the content tabs and configure sync options.
Click Apply or Sync to sync the iOS device.
If the iOS device does not appear in the Devices section or you are unable to sync, please see this article for troubleshooting.

Air 2.7 and MacOs Lion: iPhone packager does not work
hi. After upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion the iPhone packager does not work. It throws an error concerning the Application Version Number. Is this a Know bug? Is there a work- around? Thanks. Michael.

When I go to compile the app the compiler inserts that line into my descriptor at the very bottom (just before the application tag closes). It's weird, I tried setting the <application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/2.7"> back to 2.6 and it works and seems to compile in 2.7 (as I noticed the timer bug).
Anyway, I only tried 2.7 because I heard the GPU fullscreen bug had been fixed, but given that the timer issue still remains I'll go back to 2.6 for the time being.

Hi all,
i was upgrading my iphone to ios6.1.2; the upgrading had been completed and starting to install but suddenly the wi fi connection lost and the installation couldn't be completed. Now my phone is dead....it only shows the apple logo....can't do anything..help me out..Press the button at the top right and the home button together for 30 seconds, when you see the apple logo, let them go.
if you see a picture of the itunes symbol and a whitye usb chord then connect the device to a computer and perform a restore. -
Problem:
When I plug in my iPhone to sync, it starts but does not complete the process and several pieces of data are not being transferred to my iPhone from my MacBook Air.
Any help that you can provide in helping my iPhone accurately sync with iPhoto and iTunes will be greatly appreciated.
Symptoms:
1) Sync: It’s not completing the sync. Below, I’ve provided all of my settings from the iTunes Summary tab so that you might tell me if I’ve selected any incorrect options. I prefer to sync the “old school” way – by connecting to the computer – as opposed to syncing over the cloud. Perhaps this is what’s causing the problem? Here is a list of the steps displayed in the iTunes window as the sync progresses:
waiting for sync to start (step 1 of 7)
backing up (step 2 of 7)
preparing to sync (step 3 of 7)
determining apps to sync (step 4 of 7)
preparing apps to sync (step 5 of 7)
importing photos (step 6 of 7)
waiting for changes to be applied (step 7 of 7)
syncing apps / copying 1 of 4 (App name) (step 7 of 7)
canceling sync

2) Photos: I've selected only certain of my iPhoto albums to sync to my iPhone. All of the albums are correct/complete in iPhoto. All of the albums are listed on my iPhone, both before and after the sync, but the albums are empty (no actual photos) before and after the sync. Perhaps this is tied to the fact that the sync isn’t completing, but because “importing photos” is one of the steps that the incomplete sync displays, I don’t know.
3) Apps: When I launch iTunes and click on the Apps folder under the Library listing, then click on the Updates tab, iTunes searches for any Apps needing to be updated and provides a list. If I click on Update All, the Apps are successfully updated in iTunes. But, when I plug in my iPhone so that the updates will transfer to the apps on my iPhone, the updates don’t transfer to the apps on my iPhone and those apps still reflect that they need updating on the iPhone.
Other Potential Pertinent Info:
The flash memory hard drive on my MacBook Air recently died (perhaps a month or two ago). Apple had emailed me about a known issue and literally the next day, my MacBook Air crashed. I installed a new flash memory drive and re-installed everything from a backup off of an external hard drive. Everything seems to be working fine; it recreated accurately all of my software and data, including iPhoto and iTunes, the pictures and songs (respectively) for which are stored on that hard drive, as opposed to being on the flash memory in the MacBook Air itself. However, I don’t recall if the start of the sync problem described herein started happening at the same time that I replaced the flash memory drive. All I know is that the computer is working perfectly in all respects and that even as the sync is failing, it at least says that it’s doing the right things and looking in the right places (e.g., the list of albums on my iPhone matches the list of albums in iTunes, etc.).

please help - installed IOS7 and now I am having problems playing Words Free on my Iphone. It gives me a pop up telling me to connect to ITunes but will not connect. Cannot get out and have to continually shut down my phone and start over.

I just updated the software on my iphone 4 and prior to updating I could double click and start the camera without logging in, now I can't. How do I fix?
Nothing to fix...things have changed...slide the camera icon up now..no more double tap.

My HP notebook 64 bit Windows 8 after the last iTunes update will detect my iPhone 5, sync and when finished with thy sync I start a backup to my computer. It runs fine for a bit and then gives me message I have changed settings on my iPhone 5 and asked me if I want to update. I OK the question and runs a bit more and then drops the connection telling me cant find my iPhone 5. I can restart iTunes and start over and does the same thing.
ITunes update 11.1.1.62 had difficulties with the updates on 64 bit Windows 7 and 8.1 causing an error on boot other trouble. I found solution on research that insturcted to Remove iTunes, Bonjour, Apple Support and Apple Update and reload iTunes old version. I simply reloaded the new version becasue did not have the old version of iTunes. I have been working fine with the old version. I know problem is a simple setting somewhere but it is NOT SIMPLE to me since I dont know where the find the simple setting.
Will someone tell what to do. I appreciate all you smart guys.My apologies...the version is 11.1.4.62 not as stated aboive in my problem description. I'm trying again and it just finished syncing fine and my iPhone 5 is still connected to iTuns physcially with USB lightening cable and is displaying the iPhone icon top right. I clicked on it and iTunes is now "hung' or locked up. Shows to be an active running application but can't get back to it so willl have to kill with task manager. There is some kind of problem going on with the latest version of iTunes and Wndows 7 and 8.1 or something. My iPhone 5 now has a new feature that it is now asking me if I "Trust" this computer. iTunes just came "unhung" after several minutes while I was typing this. Now I am going to start the backup to this computer HP Winsows 8.1 and iTune 11.1.4.62 and see what happens. Says it is Backing up Jerrys iPhone but the Barber Pole progress bar is not turning an iTunes is hung again and I cant get back to it from this page I am typing on. Maybe it will eventually release as it did a moment ago.

i have a long-existing iPhone 4s with one apple id and started a job where I received a macbook with another apple id. how do i get my phone to sync with the Mac Pro and secondly how do i get my music on there?
No not bothered about sycing apps etc it is all about calendars and maybe notes. IN terms of how its done I just want it the easiest way and preferably so that if an entry is made on one calendar then it populates the other.
Thgius is beacuse I have my work diary on outlok, which I then link with my ical. I want to make sure that information is then shared with her.

When I connect my iphone 4 or ipad 3 and start itunes, it freezes and the arrow turns to a spinning colour wheel. Was jailbroken in the past but have updated to latest ios and itunes. Used to be able to sync my devices on my mac, but now it just freezes. I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. Still the same thing.
Any suggestions? Also noticed that the old apps on my iphone from the previous jailbreak are greyed out but I can not remove them by holding them and hitting the X once they are shaking. Delete message comes up and you confirm, but they don't go away.
Thanks for any suggestions as to what I can do.If the cloud is showing, then it is not on your phone. You can fix it where you cannot see these by going to Settings>Music>Show All Music, turn that off.

How can I delete all music files from my iPhone and start again?
I rebuilt my iTunes library. I was under the impression that the first post-rebuild sync would erase all media from my iPhone.
Under the Summary tab in iTunes, I checked Sync only checked songs and videos, and in my music list all songs are unchecked.
Under the Music tab in iTunes, I checked Sync Music, and because all my songs are unchecked it shows 0 songs.
However, after syncing, the status bar at the bottom of the Music tab still shows all my songs previously loaded as taking up memory, and when I open the Music app on my iPhone all those songs are still listed (although they are not playable).
How can I clear everything out and start from scratch?The links below have instructions for deleting photos.
