IPhone test in landscape mode

Hi,
I use Device Central to test my site "through the eyes of an iPhone user", and it works just as expected. Question: Is there an option to view my site on a mobile phone held horizontically, will say: in landscape mode? For the life of me I can't find such an option. I would ask in the Device Central forum, but there seems to be nobody there. If somebody knows of another working emulator that has this feature, I'd be glad also. Thank you for your time.
Christoph

Apple has it's own iPhone and iPad emulators when you become an Apple Developer for the iOS platform and download the SDK.  The application comes with an annual fee.  I am sure that you can view your application in landscape mode in those emulators, but there are definitely other Windows-based emulators although I am not sure which ones support the "new" iPhone 4 (screen resolution I'm talking here).
If you develop your site in Flash and export it using the iPhone Packager there is an option for Landscape, Portrait, or Auto orientation as well as Full-Screen mode.  Flash's iPhone packager can be unreliable though if you don't code your ActionScript properly.  This iPhone packager is only available on Flash CS5 Professional.  The iPhone packager also has the option to choose "iPad" as an output device.

    I have my stage set to 480*320;

    I spoke too soon.When I rotate left the .x and .y of the movieClip is still way off.Like I said I have my stage set to 480*320.And I have a button set up to change the movieClips .x and .y, but when I press the button the movieClip is nowhere near where it is supposed to be.I dunno if it is using the portrait's .x and .y or what.

  • IPhone keyboard in Landscape Mode

    Hey,
    Is any one else having the same issue ? Any solution is appreciated. When I use my iPhone keyboard in landscape mode (application - gmail) some of the letters in the keyboard don't pop-up. The keyboard inputs the letters in the mail however the on-screen prompt for a key being pressed (letters jumping up) does not happen. It happens for different letters each time. I have seen 'q' key do that .... r some times etc. It is not just the first row of letters too. I have seen other letters.
    I reset the phone, restored it and even got a warranty exchange. I still have this issue. Any ideas ?
    Peace...

  • How can I get my iPhone out of landscape mode and back to portrait?

    How can I get my iPhone out of landscape mode and back to portrait? Tilting the phone doesn't work.

    Try following - 1 by 1:-
    * make sure portrait lock is not on & try turning on/off several times
    * turn off mobile and turned it back on
    * hard reset by pressing lock and home at same time
    If problem persist, you need to try following but be careful since the following impact your iphone.
    * resetting all setting: this will reset all settings of your iphone back to factory setting
    * resetting all setting by erasing all data: this will reset all setting and erase all data so do back-up and proper syncing and read relevant details
    * restoring from itunes: this will also erase all data and take mobile back to day 1
    last 3 options are last resort and only be done if you are sure you can restore your data.
    Please don't hold me responsible for any data loss while doing last 3 options
    Cheers!

  • The iPhone 5 in landscape mode is a tablet for the Fluid Grid layout

    Hi all,
    I created a "fluid" layout for a site and realized that the iPhone 5, in landscape mode, is > 480 pixels, so the "tablet" layout is applied.
    Have you encountered this issue as well? How to solve it? I thought I might modify the CSS media query and define the tablet as > 536 but maybe some-one has a more elegant solution?
    And, in general, when is a phone really a tablet?
    Bootstrap from Twitter suggests four types of widths.
    /* Large desktop */
    @media (min-width: 1200px) { ... }
    /* Portrait tablet to landscape and desktop */
    @media (min-width: 768px) and (max-width: 979px) { ... }
    /* Landscape phone to portrait tablet */
    @media (max-width: 767px) { ... }
    /* Landscape phones and down */
    @media (max-width: 480px) { ... }
    In this framework (which is very similar to DW's fluid grid: it has a class called "clearfix" which suggests me something), under 768 it's still a phone... Is IT? What do you think?

    Smartphones are getting bigger.  Tablets are getting smaller.  So there's bound to be some overlap between devices.  I just don't see this as a problem.   Nor should you.

  • IPhone Apps in Landscape Mode on iPad

    With the new high resolution display, why won't the small iPhone apps rotate to landscape mode? This is incredibly annoying when I have my iPad docked and I need to run one of these apps. There's plenty of resolution to rotate the app to landscape!

    You can try leaving feedback for Apple : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

  • Publish / preview iphone app in landscape mode

    Hi,
    I was wondering if it is possible to get my iphone app to preview in landscape mode without having to manually rotate it.  I have it set to landscape mode with the landscape stage size, but it launches the preview in portrait mode.
    Thanks

    really? i still get the portrait sized window with a horrible pixelated shrunken version of the landscape mode in the middle..

  • IPhone :: problem with landscape mode

    I have the strange behaviour when I design UiView using Interface Builder.
    1) I use IPhone OS version 2.2.1
    2) I create UiView using Interface Builder in landscape mode ("First View")
    3) I put two buttons in the right near screen border, create callbacks for it, etc.
    4) Then I launch another view in Portrait Mode, create UiNavigationController, push "First View", enable autorotate to interface orientation and then in the viewWillAppear function implementation I call
    [[UIDevice currentDevice] setOrientation:UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight];
    5) My "First View" appeares correctly. But I can not press buttons I put on it. If I drag these buttons in the center of the screen, it works. But if I put them near the right border of the view in landscape mode - I can not press any button. "Near" means about 40-50 pixels from right border, in fact - pixels column which X borders are 430 - 480

    There's a whole section in the iPhone programming guide cover this.
    here's a snippet:
    Regardless of how you orient the design surface in Interface Builder, remember that nib files
    themselves have no concept of interface orientation. Views are blank canvases that can be used for
    many purposes, such as presenting content in a horizontal scroll view. Therefore, the size of a view
    does not change its orientation at load time; it is always loaded in portrait mode. It is up to you
    to rotate your views to the appropriate orientation after they are loaded. When you do this depends
    on how you construct your application. If you construct your application using view controllers, you
    can perform this operation in the viewDidLoad method of your view controller objects. If you are not
    using view controllers, you can per form it in the applicationDidFinishLaunching: method after
    creating your views or after loading them from a nib file.

  • Iphone 6 won't lock into landscape mode, keep switching back to portrait mode

    Hi,
    Please help me, this has driven me nut, I can't seem to lock my iphone 6 into landscape mode, it will only lock my screen when I am in portrait mode.
    For example, if I open safari and turn my phone sideway, safari would turn into landscape mode, and if I want to lock my screen to keep it in landscape mode, it won't do it, as soon as I select that screen lock button, it will turn back to portrait mode and lock my screen up into portrait mode.
    What should I do to keep my screen lock at landscape mode??? I have tried this with several apps and the same thing happen, like in Calculator, when I turn it sideway and try to lock it, it goes right back to portrait mode.
    I restored my iPhone 6 from my iPhone 5c so just wonder if it has anything to do with that or just some bugs in iOS8???
    My current display is in Standard and not Zoom display, and I even try to set it as Zoom and then reset it back to Standard to try to see if it works and it still doesn't work.
    HELP ME!!!!

    I Just spent over an hour with support on this issue and apparently in iOS 8 they removed the option for the phones to lock in landscape mode. So, there is nothing wrong with your phone, unfortunately they removed a very useful feature.  Maybe they will see if enough users want it they will fix it in an update.

  • Problem with rotation and landscape mode in iOS 8

    From start of iOS 8 I have got problem with rotation in my iPhone 5S 32GB as well as in my iPad mini retina 32GB. Automatical rotation to landscape mode is not working correctly. For example if you take the phone or tablet to landscape mode in base display and tap to Safari, Mail, Messages, the app will start but stay in normal mode, not landscape. Then you have to back the phone to normal portrait mode and back to landscape and only then the phone do the landscape mode. I have never seen this problem in iOS 7 or older.
    Could you help me anyone with this problem? Or is the problem generally in iOS 8.
    Thanks a lot
    Jakub

    Brian, thanks, but it's not a rotation lock issue - at least not relating to the rotation lock setting. It's just a general use setting. Right now i have my iPhone propped in landscape mode. If I now hit the home button, essentially returning to a portrait setting though my phone is still positioned in landscape, then open any other app that supports landscape, that app WILL NOT orient itself to landscape mode. It will stay in portrait mode. The phone has to be physically oriented to portrait, then back to landscape for the app to register landscape mode properly. This is a glitch, and not a rotation lock issue. it ought to be noted that this was not an issue in iOS 7 or any previous iteration.

  • Link doesn't work in safari landscape mode

    Hi All!
    Sometime I have problems with links in Safari. If I click on a link, it doesn't work, only when the iPhone is in landscape mode. If I turn the iPhone in portrait mode, I can click on the link correctly.
    Is there anyone with this problem?
    thanks!
    stefano

    same thing here, I've talked to apple twice and no resolution
    if you move the screen up you can usually get the links to work
    also when I do Google searches I can get to the second page of results and then I can go no further

  • Pdf file, How do I fit by width in landscap mode on iphone?

    In landscap mode, pdf file show full page and I have to zoom in everytime. I want to fit width when put in landscap. How to??

    Doesn't seem to be a setting for this in iBooks 3.1 (tested on both an iPad [3rd Gen] and iPhone 4S both w/iOS 6.1.3)
    However, a little experimentation reveals -- it depends on the PDF.
    If the PDF is text (I used 'PowerShell in Action' - a programming book) you can use the same method as Mobile Safari - Double tap in the text and that section expands to fit the width of the screen in landscape or portrait. Centered on where you tapped in the text.
    If the PDF is a single image - like a PDF comic book (I used a volume of 'Girl Genius'), it appears that the double tap to expand doesn't work. If the PDF is already full width, a double tap does appear to shrink it back to full page view.
    Unfortunately, this seems to be on a per page basis. When you flip to the next/previous page it goes back to full page view.
    Note: There are other PDF viewer apps/apps with PDF viewers built in that behave differently, more like you are looking for. Some are even free.
    Hopefully Apple will improve this in the next version.
    And, of course, the obligatory disclaimer -  YMMV with different PDFs, versions of iBooks, and iOS and this is just a random comment on the Internet. Not warrantee expressed or implied. And my employer (which is not  Apple) has no idea I just wrote this.

  • IPhone 6 month view in landscape mode??

    hello, was wondering if there is a way to view an entire month in landscape mode on the  regular iPhone 6 just like we can on the iPad?? Couldn't find it and would love this feature if it doesn't exist. I don't schedule things by the hour. I think the screen is plenty big for this and the month view in horizontal mode is useless since the little dots won't show colors.
    Thanks for any info!

    I haven't found a way to display the whole month in landscape view on my iPhone 6. May not exist. You can send feedback to Apple about this here:

  • IPhone 4 stuck in landscape mode

    For the last couple of days my iPhone has been stuck in landscape mode.  No matter what I do it will not switch out of landscape.  I've tried shutting it off, closing apps and even restored my phone but whenever I go into an app it automatically switches to landscape.
    Anyone else have this problem????
    Thanks

    Double click the home button scroll over to the audio controlls there is a button on the left that looks like a reload button that locks the orientation

  • IPhone 6 - I can only send photos via iMessage in landscape mode. The address line disappears when I try to send a portrait mode photo.

    iPhone 6 - I can only send photos in landscape mode via iMessage. The address line disappears when I try to send a portrait mode photo. Gone so far as erasing all content and settings. Problem persists.

    Howdy jackbry,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    If you haven’t already, you can try resolving the issue with not being able to send iMessages that contain portrait photos by restoring your iPhone to factory settings as shown in this article:
