Testing in landscape mode

I am developing an flash Iphone app in LandScape Mode.I have checked Landscapefor the aspect Ration in the Iphone settings but when I test it still tests in portrait, which is throwing my whole development process out of whack. Is there any way to test in LandScape Mode?
I have my stage set to 480*320;

I spoke too soon. When I rotate left the .x and .y of the movieClip is still way off.Like I said I have my stage set to 480*320.And I have a button set up to change the movieClips .x and .y, but when I press the button the movieClip is nowhere near where it is supposed to be.I dunno if it is using the portrait's .x and .y or what.
Would be nice if someone can confirm this or tell me what I am doing wrong.
Thanks

  • IPhone test in landscape mode

    Hi,
I use Device Central to test my site "through the eyes of an iPhone user", and it works just as expected. Question: Is there an option to view my site on a mobile phone held horizontically, will say: in landscape mode? For the life of me I can't find such an option. I would ask in the Device Central forum, but there seems to be nobody there. If somebody knows of another working emulator that has this feature, I'd be glad also. Thank you for your time.
    Christoph

Apple has it's own iPhone and iPad emulators when you become an Apple Developer for the iOS platform and download the SDK.  The application comes with an annual fee.  I am sure that you can view your application in landscape mode in those emulators, but there are definitely other Windows-based emulators although I am not sure which ones support the "new" iPhone 4 (screen resolution I'm talking here).
If you develop your site in Flash and export it using the iPhone Packager there is an option for Landscape, Portrait, or Auto orientation as well as Full-Screen mode.  Flash's iPhone packager can be unreliable though if you don't code your ActionScript properly.  This iPhone packager is only available on Flash CS5 Professional.  The iPhone packager also has the option to choose "iPad" as an output device.

  • Landscape mode doesn't work properly or gets locked

When I try to watch a video or use any other apps that support the landscape mode the phone will not do this when properly trying to get the phone to switch to the landscape mode. When I am in the camera mode it will also lock its self in landscape mode to where I am only able to to take a picture or video in landscape mode. This can be very frustrating especially when trying to watch videos on my phone. Not a very good use of the great image quality when viewing a video in orentation mode. I have the iPhone 6 with the 8.0.2 update but I think this was happening before I updated the phone.

Try restarting the iPhone and test again.

  • My ipad is stuck in landscape mode, can I disable accelerometer and manually rotate?

My iPad is just over 1 year old and has been treated well, but unfortunately it is now stuck in landscape mode.  We went to the Genius Bar today and after testing it they said it is a problem with the accelerometer and not fixable, only replaceable.  Unfortunately, we bought it in the UK and are just out of warranty, and are now in Australia (apparently if we bought it here we'd be covered for around 2 years under their consumer laws).  This means we are now stuck with a fairly new but broken product, which is a shame because we are both still using our iPhone 3GS phones from about 5 years ago with no problems!
Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the accelerometer and manually switch between portrait and landscape?

I had the same problem with my iPad Air that was brand new. After about 30 minutes on the phone with Apple Support (who are always so nice)it still wasn't resolved. We had come to the point where the last solution would have been to revert it to factory settings or send it back. Luckily I had to download the latest version of iTunes, and scheduled a call back. I have a Smart Cover for my iPad and began to wonder if the magnet had somehow caused the gyroscope to jam (since it does snap on back directly where the gyroscope is located). While running the Gyroscope app I took the corner where it snaps and ran it along the edge where the power and volume rockers are, and wellah!!! The gyroscope immediately responded and was back to working perfectly. Won't be using my Smart Cover anymore  though.

    Thanks,

Why are you asking a CSS question in a Java/JSP/JSTL forum? I would rather use a CSS forum for that. That HTML code is unnecessary too. Just post relevant code only, such as that CSS snippet.
Anyway, it may differ per web browser if this page rule will be picked up and it may also be a client side setting regarding printer settings. Nothing to do here.

  • Problems with landscape mode

    Hi,
I've a problem with my iPhone 3G. In apps like notes, sms or even ipod, it doesn't rotate in landscape mode. But in "not apple apps" the accelerometer is working. I've tested it with Labyrinth LE.
After restoring the device it doesn't rotate too.

    I have the same problem.
Apple apps (Mail, Safari, Calculator) don't rotate at all (portrait only). They were rotating correctly before.
3rd party apps (Labyrinth, BubbleLevel, Accelerometer Graph) can rotate to portrait and landscape correctly, so this shouldn't be a hardware problem.
    Maybe caused by OS update?

  • Pdf file, How do I fit by width in landscap mode on iphone?

In landscap mode, pdf file show full page and I have to zoom in everytime. I want to fit width when put in landscap. How to??

Doesn't seem to be a setting for this in iBooks 3.1 (tested on both an iPad [3rd Gen] and iPhone 4S both w/iOS 6.1.3)
However, a little experimentation reveals -- it depends on the PDF.
If the PDF is text (I used 'PowerShell in Action' - a programming book) you can use the same method as Mobile Safari - Double tap in the text and that section expands to fit the width of the screen in landscape or portrait. Centered on where you tapped in the text.
If the PDF is a single image - like a PDF comic book (I used a volume of 'Girl Genius'), it appears that the double tap to expand doesn't work. If the PDF is already full width, a double tap does appear to shrink it back to full page view.
Unfortunately, this seems to be on a per page basis. When you flip to the next/previous page it goes back to full page view.
Note: There are other PDF viewer apps/apps with PDF viewers built in that behave differently, more like you are looking for. Some are even free.
Hopefully Apple will improve this in the next version.
And, of course, the obligatory disclaimer -  YMMV with different PDFs, versions of iBooks, and iOS and this is just a random comment on the Internet. Not warrantee expressed or implied. And my employer (which is not  Apple) has no idea I just wrote this.

  • Start app in landscape mode locked and later enable autoOrients

    Hi!
I want to start my app in landscape mode locked and when an effect finished unlocks autorients to true and the user can change the orientation.of the device.
I have tried few things but i can't get it. My descriptor file contains:
    <aspectRatio>landscape</aspectRatio>
    <autoOrients>false</autoOrients>
And in my code when the effect is finished:
    stage.autoOrients = true
When i play my app in desktop it run but later running it in a phisichal device (playbook) orientation its ever locked.
¿Is posible lock orientation (and force landscape mode) and later unlock orientation?
    Thanks so much!

You should be able to do this now (AIR 2.6). The Stage.autoOrients property used to be read-only, but now it is writable. The main gotcha is that when you set Stage.autoOrients to false, the exact result is device-dependent. You might have it lock to the current orientation, or it might switch to the device default orientation and lock to that (you can still use setOrientation() to change, though). In my limited testing (3 devices), it has always done the latter (portrait is the default on phones, landscape on tablets).

  • N8 won't go to landscape mode

    Hey everybody,
I've had the N8 for a month now and I'm loving it.  The main reason I got the phone was because of the picture and video quality and it's ability to become my all-in-one device.
I've ran into a problem now that I need help with.  My phone won't rotate into landscape mode.  This is a problem because now I can't type texts and messages in qwerty form and using the portrait keyboard is a pain in the butt.  Has anybody else experienced this?  Is it a hardware or software problem?  I've already searched throughout the internet and have tried the following solutions but they didn't work:
Change the sensor settings on the phone and ensured the auto-rotate display was activated
Removed any apps that i downloaded since the problem occured
Restarted my phone several times to see if that worked
Did a soft reset on the phone and chose to delete and restore the phone to factory settings.
test out the accelerometer by downloading the level app (app did not run for some reason)
None of these solutions worked for me.  I haven't done a hard reset because I've read that Ovi Maps will not show up on the phone.  I have a feeling it's a problem with the phone's accelerometer.  I am tempted to call Nokia support but I'd rather fix this problem at home if it's a simple solution.
    Thanks

One final thing you can try is a factory reset of the phone.
If you dont already have it, download and install Nokia Ovi Suite
Connect phone to computer and do a backup of its contents through Tools -> Backup
    Disconnect phone from computer
    Choose Call -> dial *#7370#
Phone asks if you want to restore phone to factory settings, answer yes
    Phone restarts.
    Try the landscape mode again.
If it still doesnt work, seems the sensors dosnt work properly and phone needs service.

  • Portrait/Landscape mode switching

I'm still waiting for my imate JASJAM (which is same as HTC
TyTN) to arrive to test this. Just wonder if there is Actionscript
to detect if the display is in Portrait or Landscape mode and if
there is event notification to tell the Flash Lite app that the
    display mode has been changed.

I Just spent over an hour with support on this issue and apparently in iOS 8 they removed the option for the phones to lock in landscape mode. So, there is nothing wrong with your phone, unfortunately they removed a very useful feature.  Maybe they will see if enough users want it they will fix it in an update.

  • Ios7 - Control Center landscape mode

I've been playing around with different features of ios7 and online I see that Control Center shold work in landscape mode. When I try it, it does not work (only in portrait mode). I've tried it on my 5s, my wife's 4s, and my iPad (3rd gen).
Is this a feature that was in the developer versions but didn't make it into general release? Not a big deal, but I'm curious.

I've tested it in Messages, Safari, Gmail. It works fine in all of them.
I don't think I did anything special to make it happen.

  • Safari not opening in landscape mode when opening links from mail

    Hello,
Since the update to iOS8 I experience following: when using my iphone in landscape mode, opening links from the default mail app doesn't open Safari in landscape mode. I have to manually tilt the phone to portrait mode and back to get landscape mode.
When opening Safari manually in landscape mode, it works fine.
    Anybody else experiencing this issue?

    Hey there streatuac,
It sounds like the Safari app is not automatically switching to landscape when you open a link from the mail app on your phone. I would start by closing all the running apps on your phone first:
iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • HT1414 Display does not go into landscape mode

Help My iphone 5 display does not go into landscape mode and the rotation lock is not on . I done reinstalling the lates versionof iOS and restore my back up and restart my phone it dosen't work. My phone was work few days ago after updating some apps it doesn't work in landscape mode for photo, music, vidoes,Safari, calculator and Calander.

Restore it to factory default and do not restore from your backup; test it out again...if issue presists their may be a hardware failure with the device that is preventing this7

  • Reset When Using Landscape Mode

Has anyone else experienced resets while viewing Safari in landscape mode? Resets back to home screen. Same thing happens with some of the appssuch as eBay, not in landscape mode.

    Howdy Scott,
If I understand correctly the left side of the keyboard when you have it showing stops responding in landscape mode until you rotate it to portrait, then back to landscape. Otherwise the left side of the screen works fine outside of the keyboard. From what I gather, this would indicate to me a software issue, so I would start by quitting all the running apps on the device:
iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
If the issue persists, backup your device to iTunes and then restore it as a new device and verify that it works.
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
If it does, then restore your backup to either verify it still works and the software just needed reinstalled, or isolate the issue to the backup file itself.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling
