I wonder if anyone tried to implement jabber protocol on iPhone. There are several open source libraries that are available. Have anyone tried to integrate it into iPhone application. I would appreciate any input...

Jabber Support for UCCX

Hi,
On UCCX Compatibility matrix its always showing Jabber 9.6 is the supported version. I dont see this updated even on the latest 10.6. Anybody know about UCCX and Jabber support roadmap? Why UCCX is not aligned with Jabber latest versions support ?

everytime I talked about Jabber for Windows I also need to talk about CIPC.
CIPC 8.6(1) is validated by Cisco up to version 9.0(1) of CUCM. CUCM versions 10.0 and 10.5 are not, in other words, it's the beginning of CIPC's end ... although, for me, CICP's end will only happen when Jabber incorporate all CIPC's feature set ... I think it will take some time.

The newest Jabber release is 10.6(1), Cisco is still building out the core CIPC feature set into Jabber, but this will not happen in Jabber 11.0 ... one of the major gaps for me, is the absence of multiline.
The UCCX 10.6 Compatibility Matrix page was updated on Feb, 27 - 2015 and the Jabber 10.6(1) was released on Mar, 04 - 2015. Although Jabber 10.6(0) was released on Jan, 27 - 2015, the UCCX 10.6 Compatibility Matrix page has not been updated to the newest Jabber 10.x version.

In my opinion, as soon as Jabber incorporates all the CIPC features, it will be fully aligned with the Collaboration applications (CUCM, UCCX, ...).

Messages beta do not resolve xmpp/jabber SRV entries

When i add xmpp/jabber account say [email protected] i wish Messages Beta and iChat also resolves DNS SRV entries of type _xmpp (if I recall correct) and set xmpp server acсordingly and not point it to A entry of domain.name.

Configure SQL Server to work together with OpenFire (XMPP/Jabber Server)

I am trying to set up Openfire (a jabber/xmpp server) to talk to a SQL Server on the same machine.

I have created a database for this, created a login under the server node, called OpenFireUser, and have also created a User, also called OpenFireUser, which is mapped to just mentioned login, for the Database, called OpenFireDB.
I then ran some scripts provided by openfire to set up the database. The scripts execute fine.
I then proceed to set up the connecition using the OpenFire Web Admin, at localhost:9090. This is the setup screen, with my settings:
Specifically, the Database URL looks like this: jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://WIN-LV4K7BSUPJO/OpenFireDB;appName=jive, where
WIN-LV4K7BSUPJO is the server (localhost, in this case). I have also tried specifying port 1433, e.g. jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://WIN-LV4K7BSUPJO:1433/OpenFireDB;appName=jive.
Unfortunately, I always get the red-boxed message you can see in the image. If I view the OpenFire Error logs this is

The SQL Server logs (sp_readerrorlog) dont indicate any problem or even any attempt to connect. I am not sure
if this is an isue with the configuration of my SQL Server (it is configured to use both Windows and Sql Server Authentication), or whether this is an issue with OpenFire. I have posted on the OpenFire forum as well, but I thought I'd post here as well to
see if anyone has any suggestions on SQL Server configuration that might solve this.

N9 and xmpp/jabber

Found that N9 contain no option to use xmpp. This is really dissappoining compare to N900 I have before. How can I add xmpp account?

Luckily you are not urged to use Google, but you can replace the "gmail" and "com" parts with the data of your provider. I for an example inserted here "swissjabber" and "ch".

The RNs contain the list of tested and supported devices, anything not listed, *might* work if you meet the necessary specs.

The purpose of plugging Oracle XMPP is to integrate Instant messaging in a secure way in already existing production environments, as it seems like more and more people do use XMPP for different reasons. As a DBA, will appreciate to get Alert Messages from my instances without having to open ports to the world wide web as network people do dot really appreciate to open ports to the outside. So, here we are, i'll provide you a very simple tutorial on how to interact with Openfire from Oracle XMPP.
h3. Requirements
In this howto, i'll assume that you will use Openfire and Spark default settings, so if you perform a Next/Next install, things will be straight for you.
In this very short tutorial, be sure to follow some very basic conditions.
Be sure that the Oracle-XMPP account and target user do accept messages the one from the other. In my case (surprise !!!), the XMMP used to send messsages from Oracle is the openfire configured scott/tiger user, and i'll send messages to prslump. In my case, everything runs locally on my laptop and my hostname is l20323.
In my configuration, i connect my self to the Openfire with the Spark client as prslump. That's all, we are ready to start make interact Oracle with Openfire/Spark.
h3. Test connection
Log on with your prslump/target IM account (the one that will receive incoming messages) with Spark (or any other XMPP client of your choice, like Pidgin) to your running Openfire server
Notice that everything is here running locally, so for a more realistic example, replace localhost with the server name that hosts Openfire.
Next, run from your Oracle session :

As you can see, there's nothing more to configure to interact with Openfire and Spark from Oracle-XMPP. Initially, i wanted to interact with Openfire for two main reasons :
# Be able to use Oracle-XMPP in secured and closed environments
# Be able to work and develop locally while not connected to internet
I think that both goals have been achieved and hope that it could be helpfull to some of you. As always, your feedback is of course welcome.

XMPP/AFCS Integration

The easy way, I suppose, would just to embed SparkWeb as a
"side-by-side" pod, with some type of real or faked single sign on
scheme, but it sure would be nice to have support for a native
XMPP/Jabber-based IM client in AFCS...or XMPP/RTMP
interoperability.
Can anyone at Adobe speak to concrete plans on this front?
We're looking at Jive SBS right now for some of these reasons, plus
support for VOIP integration via Asterisk, Red5, and others.
To that end, any plans for SIP/VOIP integration in AFCS
(beyond the Audio support currently available)?

As you well know, there is already a proliferation of
occasionally convergent, but generally divergent, collaboration
technologies, applications, platforms, and providers out there
today. In an "always connected" world, the typical actor will find
his/herself needing to jump between/across their multiple
"communities" using, quite often, different modalities and devices
(voice, video, text, e-mail, blog entry, activity stream via phone,
netbook, handset, etc.). To "find someone" and to initiate
real-time collaboration with them is thus quite difficult in the
abstract. Providing interop, starting with areas such as presence
and authentication, list management, connection initiation, and
routing, would be a really good place to start. Many vendors are
exploring this within their own technology stack or in "like
stacks", but there still doesn't seem to be a clean way to achieve
it in a hetergeneous environment today.
Starting with something relatively easy and somewhat
standardized, such as XMPP-based services (specifically chat and
presence) is a logical place to begin.
I simply want a "push to collaborate" button, so to speak,
that can find the people/person/(devices?) I want to interact with
and initiate the relevant mode of collaboration across whatever
boundaries may need to be crossed. Not too much to ask, is it? ;-)
But back to the initial question, is this something that
could be implemented via some type of server plug-in in AFCS at
some point?

VoIP with Jabber

Hi altogether,
maybe you know that Microsoft is shutting down MSN in 3 days and over all the last years I always had trouble with all those proprietary messengers because they changed ther protocol or something like that. So I decided to switch over to an open and standardised messenger: XMPP/Jabber. I want to be able to make audio and video calls with it, so I was looking for a client which could do this. And here the trouble began…
I tried pidgin, gajim, psi and jitsi. All of them should support voice calls, but when I clicked on a contact with my mouse I could start a text chat, but there wasn't even an entry for a voice call. Except of jitsi, but the entry was greyed. I searched the web for a howto about doing voice calls with jabber, but didn't found something usable. I asked in IRC channels - and got no answers. I didn't guess that this would be so complicated...
So, is there anybody out there, doing VoIP with XMPP/Jabber? Which client are you using and how do you initiate a call?
I wonder, if this is worth all the work, seems like nobody really uses it. Maybe I have to stay with skype. :-(

It's still really a mess. On the one hand, you need to find out what media libraries you need to install for your particular client (probably one of the gstreamer plugins). On the other hand, you have apparent incompatibilities between different clients (say, for example, you can't call someone using jitsi if you're using pidgin...a hypothetical but plausible example). Finally, if you're trying to do a video chat with someone who uses Google Talk/Chat/whateveritscalled, you'll need additional plugins (for H264, if I remember correctly).
I've had the best luck with GNOME Empathy, but that of course requires GNOME. Since ditching that, I haven't found a better solution, but then again I haven't tried hard recently.

Jabber and dial from IE yet?

Does Jabber support direct dialling from IE yet? Trawled through previous discussions and release notes but doesn't look promising. Can I get a quick Yes/No with reference for 5 points please? :)

This is not a Cisco window, it is a Microsoft Outlook window.
This would imply that the Cisco Click to X feature is not installed on the affected machine.
Do you have many users with this issue?
Would it be possible to reinstall Jabber on this machine?

Jabber phone-only mode in CUCM 8.6

Hi everybody! I heard that jabber can be used in phone only mode without the need of CUPS, but im wondering if it will work with CUCM8.6? I have seen configuration examples for CUCM 9, but there were some things that are missing in 8.6, like Service Profiles in users configuration. If yes then some config guides would be appreciated.

I'm not sure but i think that Jabber supported only presence or webex.
when you install the jabber you see the two options.
Therefore, considering that i think that jabber can't work in mode desk phone of soft phone only with cucm.
read the datasheet of Cisco Cucilync, it similar to Jabber and it can work with cucm only.
actually, Cucilync provides integration between Cisco ip phones and lync of Microsoft, but you can use that without lync.

I have a whole lot of questions in regards to Jabber, please see below:
Are there API’s available for the Jabber application and AnyConnect client?
Is there a way to configure Jabber via a hyperlink? Much like how CUMA used to do it for Blackberrys.
Is it possible to configure the Android client without being in the office wireless environment. For example, at the moment on a 9971 phone, once I plug it into the office LAN, it downloads all the VPN details including certificates, which allows us to take it home, plug it in and off we go. Is that the same sort of config required for the Android Jabber client? Or can we send an email, or push a profile update to the device with all the credentials and certificates? The reason why I ask, is because not all users would connect their device to the office LAN, as some customers require a secureID/RSA tokens.

Jabber for Mac 9.2.1 Cannot communicate with the server

Hi All,
I'm using Webex and the Jabber for Mac 9.2.1 client that was automatically pushed. I see "Cannot communicate with the server" when I attempt to login.
The same credentials work correctly when using the 8.6.5 client version. I've attached the problem report file.
I would appreciate some guidance on what I need to do to get this to work.

We've seen this with a few of our users as well. All started noticing having issues Friday morning. As this is a hosted service for us via webex we had our engineers call in to Jabber support. Cisco performed a modification to their account and they were able to connect again. No SRV records were messed with.
***EDIT*** - This appears to have been caused by a certificate issue. The Trusted Root Certificate for QuoVadis expired and was not renewed on some machines.

Install the Cert for : QuoVadis Root CA2 (in windows, download as DER>right click file>install)
Jabber should connect now. The issue was in SSL validation with the appropriate hosted servers.
