Iphoto issue and I did read FAQ
Hi I am new to Mac/Apple and I have to say that I am less that enthused by my experience. Be that as it may, I have a problem that I bet you folks can help me with. I downloaded 600 pics from my Nikon D200 to my mac using Iphoto. I can view all of them and run the cute little slide show but when I try to edit with CaptureNX, I can not open or view any of the files, let alone edit any! I am really at a loss to understand this. Before I chuck this book please help.

Did CaptureNX have an OS X driver, that you installed from a disk that came with your camera?
First rule, at least from my viewpoint, is:
1. NEVER Vinstall anything, till you try the device first.
Then:
2. If you need software or drivers, ALWAYS go to the site and download
3. NEVER use the disk that comes with the device.
Note" If you want to go back to Windows, cool, I'll take the computer, but, I have to say I have never used a better set of easy to understand editing tools than come with the latest iPhoto. Very impressive.

I have iphoto 2 and can't read my sister's disc generated in iphoto6.
I'm trying to create a 'slideshow' in imovie using different peoples pictures for my parent's 60 anniversary party. My sister has a newer computer and iphoto 6 while I have iphoto2. My computer tells me that I can't read her disc in my library. Do i have to buy the ilife upgrade in order to import her pictures to my photo library? Help please! Times a wastin' as the party is in 10 days!

That's true: an older version of iPhoto can't read CDs that a newer version has burned. But if your sister exports the pictures she's giving you to a folder on her desktop, and then burns you a CD in the Finder rather than in iPhoto, you'll be able to import the pictures from that CD into iPhoto 2 without any trouble. -
I cannot find my photo's on iphoto's and I did not delete them where could they be?
I was transferring photo's from a camera to my Mac and now I cannot find any of my photo's that were in my Iphoto's libary, I did not delete them, where else could they be? Or can they be recovered if they have been trashed?
First, don't try to find and reimport or move photos via the My Photos search in the left hand pane of a Finder window. That's a sure way to further damage a library.
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

I doubt this is a GPU issue i've restarted my Mac, but the shape of the flickering area is in a cone shape comming from the bottom edge from the right side in about 2 inches. I'm thinking this is a failing display?
Apple will cover it if it was an accident or defect. Take it to a nearby Genius bar. I'm guessing its a graphics card or display issue. But the symptoms of a damaged GPU for me were different. I had issues with my last 13" MacBook Pro non-retina mid 2012. If I set it down or moved my machine, my screen would flicker and the pixels would be completely off and the whole system would freeze, even if I wasn't using it. If it fronze when I didn't use it, it would get REALLY hot. Like I said, if it's an accident and less than a year old, Apple will cover repairs. If it's older than a year and it was accidental, AppleCare won't cover it. If it was a defect, it will be covered as long as the AppleCare hasn't expired. If you buy a MacBook through BestBuy, you could buy BestBuy Care which covers accidental and defects. My friend fried his last machine with water and apple was going to charge him the price of a new machine and BestBuy charged about $900 and then he paid extra to upgrade to a new retina display.

When trying to update to IOS6 i receive a error message that reads "an error occurred while bakcing up this iPhone (-5000). I have deleted and reinstalled Itunes on my PC. I have Windows XP. My current IOS is 4.3.1

IPhoto calendar and book font issue
On or near Nov. 30th, 2009, I launched iPhoto 8.1 to produce a calendar. The upgrade option came up and I proceeded to do the installation.
I attempted to upgrade to iPhoto 8.1.1 on a new 2.66 GHz Quad Mac Pro running OS 10.6.2. Install did not work the first time.
I then launched iPhoto to produce a new calendar. Prior attempts have not had any font issue.
When selecting my favourite font, Kon Tiki, a different font appears. When selecting that new font, yet another font appears. This continues indefinitely.
This issue also occurs when creating new books. Existing books and calendars in my Keepsakes retain their original font but I do not want to test if they change until this is resolved.
I tried reinstalling original application from Time Machine but error continues. I then tried a second successful time to install the upgrade to iPhoto 8.1.1
I have since tested this on my 3.06 GHz iMac running OS 10.6.2. This system had already been upgraded to iPhoto 8.1.1 but no calendars or books had been produced since the upgrade.
The same issues occur.
2.0 GHz MacBook running iPhoto 8.1 does not have this issue.I ran Font Book and Validated all fonts. Cleaned up quite a bit but did not resolve the issue. Fonts are no longer as randomly selected (Kozuka Gothic Pro now selects Kon Tiki Kona consistently) but does show the secondary font choice of the font above it. Current version on Mac Pro seems to corrupt the iPhoto Library. Accessing those iPhoto Libraries from different computer (2.0 GHz iMac running iPhoto 8.1 resolves the issue and reinstates selected fonts).
Second issue now occurring where previously created Calendars are becoming Books on Mac Pro system. I have tried removing all iPhoto files and reinstalling from iLife '09 disc then upgrading to 8.1 but error still occurs.
How do you remove all iPhoto files and where are they. I can either reinstall them from iLife '09 disc (again) or copy them from MacBook system where they appear to be working.
I'm not completely able to locate all iPhoto files it seems. -
I know many have this issue but i can't find a solution to the problem. i get message saying insuffisiant disk space in the volume iPhoto library and i have plenty of space available. i have the new macbook pro with retina display. i have never seen this message before and i have 2 other macbooks and have had many other also. i am assuming this is a problem with the new macbook retina. does anyone know the exact fix to this issue? i have seen many sugestions to try to fix this issue but none have solved the issue for anyone that i can find in the Apple Support Community. thank for looking into this in advance.
******A true apple fan********Actually your suggestions are the ones that i have tried. i have seen that you have tried to help others with this issue and the only one that i could find that said they found the problem said that it was an ilife update issue and it fixed it and i have no available updates. i know it has to do with something in photo stream because it happens when i create a new library and it is loading the photos but i get the message before i reach the maximum 1000 photos. so i've tried updating, new library(first backing up photos and then deleting them from iPhoto), reinstalling OSX many times, running disc utilities. I called Apple the first day i had this issue and i was the first person to call them for support with the retina display and i actually had it escalated to a senior advisor and we thought we fixed the problem but we did not. i am pretty fluent in dealing with troubleshooting these type of issues and this is the first time i'm reaching out to the community. i figured now that the retina has been out some time now that there would be an obvious answer to this issue. thanks for the quick reply.

Having horrible service with 4GLTE I have had 3G for several weeks (I am not the only person I know having this problem), I have reset my network settings and it did not resolve the issue. I am also unable to send SMS and text messages without them either failing or not sending at all. Is there an outage in the Cleveland, Ohio area (zip codes 44129, 44134, 44137) or anything else I can do to resolve this issue?
Not that I'm a Verizon employee, but I have experience in the field. An LTE tower will only extend up to, on a perfect day, with no elevation, 6-7 miles. On a typical day, you will be lucky at four (4) miles. The three ZIP codes you've given are all within about a 12 mile radius. That would mean that 2-3 towers are currently down at the same time, and Verizon would know about it within the hour. Being it's Cleveland, I'm sure they would receive numerous calls regarding an outage of that size.
My point is that if you're having issues in all three ZIP codes, chances are it's a phone issue. If you're handset is simply not receiving LTE, but still receiving 3G, that would signify a SIM card issue. You need to get your SIM card replaced. -
there’s a glitch somewhere. iphoto just wont open. upgraded to yosemite and downloaded iPhoto upgrader and it doesn’t work, just keeps telling me to upgrade when I did already or quit, so no way to do photos on this brand new mac. that’s a pity!!
You need to have iPhoto 11 v9.6 (which you can get from the App Store) to use iPhoto on Yosemite. If you already have iPhoto 11 then the update is free. Otherwise it's a purchase.

I'm using Big date theme but the numbers on the date is cut off on top. I'm on iphoto 11 and OS 10.8.2. anyone else having this issue??
OK try the following: make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder. -
I am using MAC OSX 10.9.4 and LR5 Ver 5.6. I can't drag LR to my second screen. It's always worked before. All of my other apps drag to the second screen with no issues. I've re-booted my computer and it did't help. Any ideas???
Make sure you are not in one of the full screen modes.
Window > Screen Mode > Normal

They are only free via the account orginally purchased or if they came pre installed on the computer. Depending on what you have purchased already us the one account for the app store - saves headace and hassel in the future thus not double buying software. Do you have iwork installed on your imac? meaning the iwork 09? if you do your should be able to to to the store and update it. Worked fine for me since i bought the DVD version of iwork 09 and Aperture 3. I did not want to have to rebuy them so the app store noticed i had them installed and changed the update via the app store.

You need to contact Apple to get the questions reset, which can be done by clicking here and picking a method for your country, or if that's not an option, by filling out and submitting this form.

Reinstalling iPhoto : 08 and 09 Issues - PLEASE Help
I has iPhoto 08 that came with my MBP last year.
Then upgraded to iLife 09.
iPhoto 09 started to have problems since I upgraded to SL.
So I read in Apple support forum and decided to do a fresh install of iPhoto.
Uninstalled iPhoto 09. Removed all necessary files. Didn't touch the library.
Used my MAC OS X Install Disc 1 and 2 to reinstall iPhoto.
But now it says I have used a newer version of iPhoto to modify the library and iPhoto quits.
Uninstalled iPhoto again.
Ran my iLife 09 DVD. It installed iPhoto.
But it still says I have used a newer version of iPhoto to modify the library and iPhoto quits.
What should I do?!Thank you sooooo much! You are just fantastic! 35000 posts? Even Jobs could not have managed that
Btw, can you tell me why my MBP SL trackpad is soooo darn sluggish and does not want to respond as well after upgrading to SL from L?
Thanks a lot once again. iPhoto issue has been resolved - at least it is working again. Now I have to see if the previous problems are there or not.
