Ipod 40 gb clickwheel

This is the model with a screen that does not let you see images. Mine has a few hundred tiff files imported from a camera with a media reader. On the ipod these are listed in photo albums. When I mount the ipod on the desktop these are not visible but can only be listed as unix executable files. In i tunes the photo tab is not even there to be seen.
How can I access these tiff files from the ipod or copy them to another disk?

  • IPod mini clickwheel freeze

I know that sometimes the clickwheel freezes when you bring your ipod out of sleep but that's not my problem. Recently the volume on my mini won't change. I run my finger accross the clickwheel and nothing happens. But if I hit select and got to the rewind/fast forward or ratings screen it will work. In order to get the volume to change I have to pause my mini htne unpause and I can change the volume once. After that I have to pause and unpause again.

Have you tried resetting and/or restoring your iPod?

  • Has My iPod Died? (3rd gen)iPod with Clickwheel B&W

Hoping someone can help, I can't turn on my iPod even when I toggle the hold switch and press & hold menu and select.
I plug it into my pc and the pc does not acknowledge it, nor does iTunes so I am unable to restore(I have already downloaded the very latest version of iTunes).
If I try and charge it sometimes but not always the battery charge icon will appear but it does not move as it should when charging.
Is it time I faced facts and bought a new iPod which I can ill afford? Feel so lost without my beloved iPod.
Thanks in advance for any helpful tips.

If it has a "clickwheel" (instead of a touch scrollwheel with four separate round touch buttons), it is a 4th gen iPod, not 3rd gen.
Shut down (power off) the computer and restart it. Try a different USB port. If possible, try a different docking cable.

  • IPod mini clickwheel, which generation if silver

Hi, I'm trying to figure out which generation a few clickwheels are that I'm working on refirbing iPod minis with. I know the colored wheels are generation 2 but if they are silver they could be either generation...Anyway to tell from the molex ribbon cable or the ciruit board...a definite answer would really help us out in testing and rebuilding...thanks,rick

thanks, but I'm aware of that...I have a number of click wheels that are not in case...trying to find another way to know what generation they are from as i do not believe the click wheels are interchangable...so still seeking for answer...I notice the circuit boards may be a bit different...I had thought the plug at the end, white vs black, but don't think that is consistent...someone must know this:)

  • Ipod mini clickwheel

    Hello,
I broke the ribbon cable of my ipod mini (4 GB, 1st model). Does anyone know where I can get a new clickwheel, or does anyone have an ipod mini that is broken but with a working clickwheel? Any help would be most welcome

Have you tried resetting and/or restoring your iPod?

  • My ipod w/ clickwheel does not link after new iTunes install using dock

I have had this ipod for 5 1/2 years without problems; it even holds a good battery charge. After updating to the new iTunes, now for some reason my ipod will not be recognized when I plug the ipod into the dock that came along with this computer (this is when connected to the firewire 400 port on my iMac G5). There was no problems in the past and I only experienced this after updating to the new iTunes. Anyone else had this problem?

I really think this was just a problem with the new iTunes. After the update I did not experience this problem any longer.

  • Uninstalling iTunes. iPod 4 'ClickWheel' wont show up. Please HELP!

    Hi everyone.
    Ok here's my situation.
Im using a MacBook Pro (Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5)
    iTunes 11.4 (64Bit)
    iPod 4th Gen. (White 20GB 'Click-Wheel')
After doing a system restore on my ancient dinosaur ipod 4th gen. (the white 20GB 'Click Wheel') and 'upgrading' to iTunes 11 i've had nothing but problems.
So now when i plug in my ipod it charges fine and even say's "Do Not Disconnect" *BUT* there is no 'on my ipod' button. I cant see my playlists, add songs, delete songs or anything! I just want to 'DOWNGRADE' my itunes and have everything how it was before. I find this to be a science project in itself and no amount of searching youtube videos gave me a clear answer, it only made me more afraid and confused of going forward with this.
I tried downloading 'sharepod' for MacBook Pro but this is pointless because it needs itunes to recognize the ipod for it to recognize the ipod. Ehh.
I did a 'system restore' on the Mac but when i went home where all my music is (on a windows PC) it said i have to do the restore again because it was restored on a MAC. So i did the restore again on my Windows PC (put all my music on it) and now i want to add songs from my MACBOOK Pro and its not even recognizing my ipod. Arrrgh the frustration i tell you!
Im done doing the system restore and i just want to add playlists now. Why is this soo difficult? Someone please help a newbie out. Im great with computers and feel like i honestly should have never upgraded the itunes in the first place because i feel this is what is causing my problem. I've heard the older gen. ipods dont work as well with the newer versions of itunes although im not sure if there is any truth to that or is it just rumors. Either way can somebody please take me on a step by step of what to do next? Please with a cherry on top?

Went through something similar on our daughter's old iMac G3. Solution there was to install the most advanced version of iTunes that we could which, I think, was 7.0.something. Her Nano then started playing properly.

  • Ipod Classic Clickwheel and Firewire

    Helloe,
I have an older (first generation, I think) Ipod classic that a friend gave me that only has a Firewire port on the top to connect with (no cables, no discs, just the ipod). It works well with the music that is on it already.
I got a firewire cable, and I actually have a port in the back of my computer that it attaches to, and when I plug it in it charges up beautifully, but the computer and itumes can not seem to recognize or find this ipod in order for me to reformat and sync it.
    Any suggestions or advice?
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • Ipod nano clickwheel frozen on radio.

Menu does not work nor right advance button. I tried to reset by pressing menu and center button 10 sec. Did not work. Help?

    Hi earthford,
Follow all of the steps below (pay particular attention to the part in red):
Note: If your iPod is frozen or won't turn on, it may be because iPod is paused or the Hold switch is in the locked position. If so, a lock symbol appears on the screen. Slide the Hold switch to the unlocked position and check the screen.
    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the
Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the
finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure
that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the
    center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power
adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer
is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.  Try resetting the iPod while it is connected to power.
If you have tried all of these steps, and have repeated step 2 several time and still no luck:
    iPod not responding
If your iPod does not respond to these steps, see these additional troubleshooting steps—
for iPod nano (6th generation), see this article.

  • Replacing the battery in 20GB & 4Gb clickwheel ipods

Can you replace the battery in a 20GB iPod with clickwheel (M9282LL) and a 4GB iPod Mini with clickwheel?
20GB iPod is running OS version 3.1.1. Not sure what the Mini is running, but believe it is the same as they were purchased at the same time.
Both no longer hold charges for very long. They do charge and play, but the battery quickly dies.
    Thank you.

    I recommend a battery by iPodjuice.com.
Their batteries are cheap, last longer than the original battery did when it was new, come with tools and detailed instructions, as well as videos on their website, and have 10 year warranties against the battery.

  • PROBLEMS!! BLUE SCREEN AND SHUT DOWN WHEN CONNECTING IPOD OLD MINI!!!!

help help help!! Long story though....
Unfortunately, my computer crashed and i needed to send it away to get the whole system revamped, deleting all my old files, including my entire itunes library. I am, therefore, trying to retrieve and re-download all my old songs and piece together my library. As you can imagine, this is very long and frustrating.
I did, however, find my old 6gb 2nd generation ipod mini (clickwheel) that has a fair percentage of my old itunes library, after i thought i had lost it forever a long time ago. I have plugged it into the mains charger and although there is expected battery issues it still plays fine. ANd i have a new ipod on order so not too bothered anyway.
What i want to do though, is plug in my ipod to my computer and retrieve the songs from it to my new itunes, so i can put them on my new one. But everytime i lug it into the computer, a blue screen comes up and says it is needs to restart to prevent damage because it can't launch a non-executable program!!
Is there anyway to overcome this? Can i get the songs from my ipod mini? or will i have to sit and download thousands of songs from scratch???!!!

My new iPod 5th gen did the same! I think it might be a YouTube and iOS connection glitch

  • Ipod nano 3rd gen (click wheel)

I currently have a ipod nano 3rd gen with a click wheel. I have uninstalled, reinstalled itunes and rebooted my computer already (I have windows XP). It shows up in "My Computer" as unknown but itunes will not reconize the ipod is connected, but does with my other ipod. I've tried changing the drive letter on this 3rd gen; but it wont appear to even change the drive letter. I believe I need to download the drivers (its what i had to do with my previous ipod) but I would like a clue where to download the drivers from, or someone to shed any light and a solution for this issue. My ulitmate goal is to get itunes to reconize it so that I can restore the ipod
    Thanks.

Clickwheel games are no longer available in the iTunes store.  Sorry.

Please someone help, please please please

    Howard,
Please try to fix your iPod with a Mac computer, hope that you have a friend who uses Mac. Put your iPod in Disk Mode and plug it with a Mac, and likely it will mount and open the Disk Utility and do a ERASE (format in MS DOS). Once it has been completed, replug your iPod with PC, and it will got recognized, then open the iPod update and do a Restore back to PC version
