Is there anything I can do to check system?

Make sure the 30-pin connector is fully seated in the side of the iPad.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

  • My iPod only works when plugged into a wall socket!

Anyone know why my iPOD only works when plugged into a wall outlet? I tried it on the Bose docking station and also my MacBook and it won't work!
    Any ideas??

Sounds like a dead battery.  You can have Apple swap out the battery for a flat fee or you can send it to a third party service center to have them do the same for job a little less.

  • IPod nano freezing when plugged into Belkin Tunecast

Everything has been working fine with my ipod nano 3rd generation until recently. I tried to plug it into the tunecast in my car and the ipod froze. I've tried resetting it and this still happens. A different ipod has been working fine with the tunecast which makes me think there is nothing wrong with the belkin but the ipod is fine even when plugged into the computer which makes me wonder which one is not working properly. Any ideas????

I am having this exact same issue with my wife's 3g, 8GB nano and her Monster iCarPlay. the Monster unit and the nano worked fine together for a week or two but now the nano locks up when connected to it. You disconnect the nano and it goes back to working fine. I have reset the nano while both connected and not connected to the Monster and have done a restore in iTunes and I am still having the same issue. I called support and they basically told me to buy a new car adapter. I don't believe this is a good solution since the Monster worked with the nano for a couple of weeks when we first got it and the Monster still works fine with both my wife's and my old ipod mini's. Any suggestions?

  • How to recover music? iPod only works when plugged into wall outlet

My iPod is probably 5 years old or so. It's been acting up for a while and I stupidly, did not back it up.
The battery was replaced this weekend so it works when plugged into the wall. It will not power on or do anything when not plugged into the wall. When plugged into the wall charger, it can turn on and says it is charging. It can be used then but as soon as it is unplugged, it's dead.
When it is plugged into the computer, it says "Charging. Please wait...". There isn't enough power from my laptop to power the iPod, so my computer doesn't even recognize it. It does not show up in iTunes.
On the brightside, I have a new iPod classic waiting to be used. However, I would VERY much like to get my 90gb+ off of my old iPod first. Is there a way to do this?
I'm at a loss. Some of the files are on there are not anywhere else. I have a few songs by a friend who lost them on their own computer.
Any help would be very appreciated!

Bump. Is there no way to solve this?

  • Ipod "Click" sound when plug into the Computer

    Hi All,
My Ipod harddrive clicked periodically when plugged into the computer which never happen before. I can hear the harddrive spin sound but periodically sound clicked in the harddrive.
Just wondering if anyone experienced this problem before?
Any suggestion how to fixed it? Is the warranty cover this kind of problem as well?
    THanks for all reply

Yeah I think so.. Some of the update fixed some problem but some of them make them worse and i hate when apple didnt give the search function on Ipod with video 1st generation
Just hope my ipod has no problem regarding this issue.

  • Mini says tunes there when plugged into comp, but unplugged, no songs

Maybe someone else has had the sort of nightmare experience I have had with my ipod. For 10 mos, it would not allow me to put songs on. I finally called tech support(helped 1x, now insist I must pay $59 to get their crappy technology to work properly). After 2 1/2 hrs on phone, installed recent software on comp and iPod, got 127 songs on it (CDs prev burned on HD). I want to add more songs (it says it will hold 1000 songs....). I followed the instructions I'd been given to put them on the ipod - incl put in disk mode, manually update. It looked like it was downloading tunes. iTunes says the songs are on the iPod. However, when I disconnect from computer, there are only the orig 127 songs I got installed on it 1 wk ago, i.e. not one of the new 255 songs was installed. Can anyone help? email is [email protected] I am really, really regretting having spent $350 on this piece of junk, but maybe the problem is me (I certainly doubt it). Feeling v disenchanted w apple and their crap service right now.

If you have your ipod set to manual update then you have to manually drag all of your songs from your library to your ipod "icon" on the source list. I believe that is where your "disconnect" problem lies. You have to remember that all the songs you burn onto ITUNES are on your computer's hard drive only until (in your case) you manually transfer them to your IPOD's list of songs. You can certainly fix this manual issue by changing your IPOD settings to auto update. Of course that will create other challenges say if your computer's library is larger than your IPOD capacity etc and so forth. Hope that helps

  • 6 GB iPod Mini discharges when plugged into Mac Mini via USB 2.0 hub

I have a 6 GB iPod Mini and when i connect it to my computer, instead of charging, it discharges. The iPod is connected to a self powered USB 2.0 hub. Does anybody have any ideas of what to do. I need a hub because the Mac Mini only has 2 USB ports and the keyboard and mouse don't work through the hub (well the keyboard it self does but the hub doesn't which the Mighty Mouse is plugged into)
    Thanks

When i say self powered i mean that it has an external power supply (my hub it has two lights, when it is connected to USB and has p\s connected and plugged in a light lights up that has the word "Self" next to it, when it is connected just to USB it has a light that lights up with the word "Bus" next to it.) I am sorry if i confused you (or if i confused myself). About the firewire thing, i am planning to get the next normal iPod Apple releases but the current ones dont support firewire so the new one probably wont either, so i will be in the same boat as i am now when i get a new one.

  • Bose Soundock - Ipod Messing up when plugged into bose

Hi, yeah for my birthday i got a Bose Soundock and when i plugged my ipod into it played fine. Then when i unplugged it from my Bose Soundock, and tried to plug it into my computer, the computer won't recognize it. I have looked under the control panel settings and all the stuff i could do to find it. I need to know if my ipod is screwed forever or if it can be fixed....?

I'm having a very similar problem. Upon first connecting (after iTunes 7 update) my iPod to my Windows notebook, it prompted me to update my iPod. So of course I said ok.... While trying to update the iPod it (the iPod) frooze and didn't install the update. I found a workaround to trick to to install. (Tell it to update it, disconnect for a few seconds and reconnect, it won't freeze and will restart and install the update.)
Anyhow, now that the iPod has been updated to 1.2 software, I get artifacts on the screen (blocks & lines of various colors) and eventually it freezes up. I thought I'd try to restore the iPod, however, doing so did NOT really help. I still get the screwed up screen and frozen iPod! Although, it didn't freeze when it was updating the iPod with all my content (had prior to restoring).
Not sure what Apple did, but they sure messed this one up!!
EDIT: I found this post, which describes exactly what I've been dealing with... http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=637616&tstart=0

  • IPod error message when plugged into Macbook Pro

My iPod will charge to my Macbook Pro for a moment or so then I get an error message stating that "This device or accessory is not supported..yadda yadda yadda" I have never had this happen in the past. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    T4,
Then the pods that you have seem not to electrically match with your Mac, as the others that you tried seemed ok, am I right in this understanding?
On the iPhone it has a very unique plug configuration that seems to set specifically for the iPhone, because it is a 4 conductor connector (one is for the microphone) that may make other pods not work properly. (yes this is an Apple thing, AAAAARRRRGGGG!!!!)
But that would then confirm that there is not anything wrong with your Mac, as those Apple pods are for the iPhone, I guess both good and bad news.
I don't use my iPhone to listen to music, nor do I use pods either, unless the artist I am working with is, then I use the same make and model so I can "hear what they hear".
I do pro audio for a living and I can understand this "crosstalk issue with the 4th connector"
But without getting too technical,  it would seem your Mac is just fine, which is a good thing.
I would think that the newer Macs will be more compatible with the Apple iPhone pods, but they all seem to have their issues with the switching system...for years now!
Hope this helps you understand this "FRUIT FLY"
My suggestion is to use "regular headphones/ear pods with your Mac and the Apple iPhone pods with the phone. )I only have ever used the iPhone pods with the iPhone when I'm driving, and with only the iPhone. I have much better sounding pods/phones that I use to "ACTUALLY' listen to music with....and it a'int MP3/4
    Peace SJP

  • Shuffle is recognised when plugged into computer, but. . . . .

when i eject it from the computer (pc or mac) NONE of the lights even turn on.
    And nothing plays obviously.
Other than going to thee apple shop, how can i get this sorted?

The simplest explanation for lack of lights would be lack of battery charge. If that's the case, then about all you can do is plug it into a known good charging source (fully seated in a high-power USB port, a USB charger, etc.) and leave it there for a good couple of hours.
If you get charging indications while doing that (steady amber light) then you should feel encouraged. Even if you don't, leave it in there for the 2-4 hours then, even if you don't think you can stand it, just unplug it and leave it sitting, OFF, for about a day.
Now try it. If it's still dead then you're fresh out of tricks that I'm aware of and you're replacement-bound. If it's under warranty, however, I'd just take it in right away, this afternoon, if that suits your schedule.

  • IPod erases songs when plugged into port.

if anyone happens to know why an iPod shuffle would erase the songs off of it every time it plugs into the computer, can you let me know? It's really annoying me. It's probably just a setting I'm missing, but I'm unable to check right now. Thanks a lot.

    Hi latriste,
I had the same problem when I thought I could delete songs from my hard drive and connect my shuffle (with those songs still on it). When I did connect my shuffle, it updated itself, and the songs I didn't have on my HD were deleted from my shuffle.
Apparently, a shuffle is different from the other ipods because you can't set it to 'manually update' itself.
Here is my recent thread where I asked a similar question:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=476453&tstart=0
In short, with a shuffle, you need to keep all your music on your computer for it to stay on your ipod.
