Ipod keeps trying to shut off by itself

Hello Everyone!
It seems that after I installed the 8.3.1 my iPod touch 5 is having issues. At first the power button did not want to work and i click it and it's not stuck or anything like that. I stopped using it and it keeps taking me to the screen where it asks you to slide to power off, it takes screenshots and the screen comes on when i haven't touched anything at all. It's getting very annoying. I'm hoping it's not a hardware problem because I'm out of warranty.
Thank you in advance to anyone who has any insight to this problem....

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Phone keeps trying to shut off by itself...

Ok guys, i dont know what is going on. ever since i downloaded and installed 1.4 my phone keeps randomly asking me if i want to power off. not only that, but the power button is unresponsive, when this happens. I've noticed it does it most often when i have it charging, and usually it either does it at night or in the morning. Yesterday I didn't have the problem at all until the night time and then this morning I kept hearing my phone do the system sound thing, and it kept asking me if i wanted to power down. Even if i didn't touch it, it would just keep doing it. Is anyone having this problem? My phone was fine before 1.4 and now it is doing this. I don't think it's broken, and I am not sure why it only really does it when I am charging my phone (however, there have been times where it will do it when I am not charging) it is very frustrating. I've talked to Palm Support Chat, and the guy didn't help me, so does anyone here know what I should do?
I thought about taking it to the sprint store, but the problem is that this doesn't happen all the time, so I don't know how i am supposed to show them the problem...and usually the sprint stores i go to, if they can't see a problem with it they won't do anything about it. so i don't really have many places to get help at.
    Thanks!

I just got my Palm Pre on Saturday. After uploading 1.4, I was not able to play the Palm's ringtones. I swapped it for another PPre the following day only to have it happen again. I brought it to the Sprint Tech office and was given 2 options, to swap it again for another Pre or to hang on to it for another month until the tech finds out how they will overcome this glitch with the 1.4 upload. I now have another problem with the Pre, though. Thrice today, the screen totally blanked out. The first time it happened, I had to press the power button, thinking that it turned itself off. The second and third time it happened, I waited about 20 seconds before the screen came up again. This seemed to occur after dialing out a number or after sliding up the screen. My husband experienced this a couple of times, too, with his new Pre. We're now thinking of swapping them for the HTC.

  • My iPod keeps trying to power off

My iPod keeps trying to power off ,have done restores ect

What do you mean by "trying to power off"?
If you restored to factory defaults/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer

My iPod keeps shutting off by itself?

Have you tried the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If you still have the problem then it appears that you have a hardware problem, maybe a battery problem. An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

IIf the battery was completely drained it might take some time before the phone will respond. Wait at least 30 minutes with the phone connected to the charger. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. If the phone starts up let it continue to charge until it's 100%.
if the broken button will not let you do the reset Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • I've tried EVERYTHING.  iPod still will NOT shut off...

My iPod has refused to shut off for over a week now. First I went through all the usual steps (resetting dozens of times) and I still could not get it to turn off by pressing play/pause. I then restored my iPod and the thing will still not shut off.
Oddly enough it will turn off if it is being charged, but if it is not, it will remain on. Even the SLEEP button does not work!
I haven't the slightest idea what to do now. Any and all help is greatly appreciated

Had a similar problem. holding play/pause didnt turn mine off.. (also 60GB iPod Photo). But mine did turn off if I disconnected the headphones while its on hold to make it pause and then then automatically switched itself off after a couple of minites of not being used. If this is a bad batch watch out... i've just had a hard-disk failure. see

I have not had any experience in getting any devices repaired so I'm not sure which store to resort to. An official Apple store should more than likely get you what you need, but I'm guessing it's probably more expensive. (if any cost for your situation)
I hope you get your problem resolved.

  • Hello everyone. I bought my iPad 2 in Novermber, 2011. Recently it started shutting off by itself for no reason. It gets annoying because it happens while I'm using it and it starts happening more often. Does anyone know what to do about it?

Has anyone experienced problems with iPad 2 shutting off by itself? I have mine only since November 2011 and it keeps happening, recently more often. It also takes longer time to turn back on. It's annoying because it happens of course while in use. Help! Please.
    D.

Thanks, but it doesn't make a difference. I've tried. It just turns off in the middle of my reading or searching the web. On the beginning, it happened only once or twice but recently it happens at least once a week. I don't know if it's a warranty issue or if maybe there is simple solution to my problem...
