Ipod nano 7g search function

I changed my old Ipod Nano 4G to a new 7G and I can't believe it..
1) where is the title search funtion? - why is it removed?
2) where is the cover flow? - why is it removed?
-- quite the same day by day - new generation and the old one will be better...

Maybe it's the looking from your side, but I can't understand why everybody thinks he knows what the customer wants and needs. I think - put it in, if somebody will or can't use some feature it's not a problem, but if you have used it in the past and you haven't it now, you are engry.
My 6-person familiy - we use 6 Iphones, 1 Ipad, 5 Ipods 4G, Classic and 7G and the understanding about the missing functions comes not from mine, it comes from my children 13years, and they have smaller fingers
... I'am also waiting since the Iphone 3GS-4GS to use my phone like a business phone, we have IOS 8.1 and you always can't sync the Outlook ToDo-List and I can't use my Outlook calender with all categories and colours .. - I was waiting now to the new 6series - and it will come with ?
YES - a new design,
- looks cheaper not so high-end than the 4GS+5GS metall series..?
- bigger and superbig like a little Ipad - so can't put it in your pants and jacket?
- new connector like 5GS, so I can change everything, HIFI-docking stations can't be used, fix mounted charging station in my business car should be changed.., charging docking stations in my office and so on...?
so what's going on with Apple...
Tell me why I should change to the new series, if I get only things I don't need or used things will be missed. - I will lose a lot of money to change everything, like the actually problem now with the first new lightning connector of the new Ipod 7G of my daughter...
I'am with you - design and technic must be balanced, but we haven't problems with the amount of RAM to reduce functions - at the moment a lot of people around me can't find the motivation to buy new things, because you can be sure, you get 4 new features you don't need and you also lose 5-10 features you have used day by day - and you can't see it before !
So and old adage says, "Don't touch a running system!"

The Search feature is currently only available on iPods which shipped with it; no publicly available download will add it to older iPods.

IPod Nano 6th Gen - Functional but white screen on pressing wake/sleep button

I have an iPod Nano 6th Gen (out of warranty & applecare) - hasn't been dropped etc & never had any trouble.
This morning I got the white screen after unplugging it from charging.
I have tried hard reboot (power button + vol down). I have put it into disc mode (hard reboot + both volume buttons) and restored it to factory settings from itunes (10.6.3) . I've even put it into diagnostic mode and looked around to see if there were any tests I could do.
Functionally the ipod works ok - plays music, volume changes, and it will shuffle on shaking/ play pause on double pressing the power button.
The problem is when I switch off the screen by pressing the power button once - if I try to switch the screen on again I only get the white screen (although this doesn't affect music playing etc).
The way to get around this is either doing a hard reboot (which is a pain as it removes all my settings) or by switching off the ipod, waiting 5 minutes, then switching it on again (this preserves my settings). If I switch off the ipod and try to switch it back on within 5 mins, it's straight to the white screen.
The only other odd thing I noticed was that the screen was shaky/jolty and graphics not quite lining up etc, but this only lasted 10s and went once I started playing music...
Any ideas as to what is causing this? I'm guessing maybe a hardware problem but it seems strange that there is no white screen on switching on, just from waking.
It was a present from my dad and I'm very fond of it so would like to keep it/fix it if possible!

IPod nano not fully functional on Windows 2000 (Charging)

1st: I love iTunes and my previous iPod mini. My mini functioned perfectly from day one with my exact same desktop setup (Windows 2000, Dell, USB 2.0, etc).
I've spent hours trying to figure out why my nano wouldn't charge. Finally, I found these forums and read that "Windows 2000 has a bug". I say this is utter nonsense. I had a mini for months on the exact same computer/OS and it charged just fine thank you.
The only way that I can charge my nano (hopefully it will work, the indicator is essentially useless on win2k) is to enable disk mode and watch the flashing "Do Not Disconnect..." symbol across most of the screen, with a tiny, non-animated battery+lightning bolt icon in the corner. Is it charged? I don't know. Is it actually charging? I don't know. Will I know when it's 80% charged - as per the advertising specs for a fast-charge? Nope - will just have to guess.
What about listening to my nano while it's docked/connected? Nope - can't do that on Windows 2000. Can I try any of the features, games, or hear how a song sounds while docked? Nope.
Apple: With iTunes and the mini, you had a full Mac convert waiting for my next computer purchase to get an iBook. Now, I'm not soo sure. Windows 2000 is on tons of computers - I would guess a pretty large proportion of your iPod customer base even compared with OSX. If you can't fix this bug, and I know you can given that the mini functioned perfectly, I will demand a full refund and unhappily go get a refub mini (now that I sold mine the day I went out to get a nano).

I'm in the same boat as Noah (Win2K, charging problems, etc.). And the moment I unmount my nano (using either of the methods you mention above), it stops charging. At least I assume it is actually charging while mounted, because I have the lightning bolt but no way to see how much of a charge unless I unmount it. But I can't listen to music while I have it plugged in, and that is sure a disappointment. Apple people, please fix!
As a little aside, I don't seem to be able to choose whether or not to "enable disk use". The box is already checked and grayed-out so I don't have the option to un-check it. Could this be another Win2K weirdness?

Vista Ultimate and iPod Nano Drag and Drop

I upgraded my laptop to Vista Ultimate (which it is not) and I have iTunes 7.1.1.5 running. I use a shared network drive for my music library. I have a 80 G Video IPod that syncs up with no (known) issues. I just got a new iPod Nano and iTunes will recognize it but i can not load music manually. When i try to drag and drop music from my library onto the iPod Nano the drag function does not work. Does anyone know what to do?

Make sure "Manually manage music" is checked in
Options under Summary.
I just dealt with this situation with a daughter's
replacement nano...
I do have the manually managed option selected. The setup I am using is similar to the other iPods I have been using. I believe this issue is vista ultimate.

Syncing New iPod Nano

I have an old iPod that I want to keep up to date, as well as a new iPod Nano - can I sync both devices with my iTunes account? When I attach my new iPod Nano, the sync function is not available.

After you connect your iPod on iTunes, click on the iPod bar, that appears on iTunes, take a look:
What you neew to do now is just go to the TOP bar and click on MUSIC, there you can select the playlist or individual songs or albums you want to send to iPod.
A 2nd way is select your songs from the library and drop it to the iPod icon, behind "devices" Menu.

Hi , I am studying Graphic at my secondary school in the uk , i have chosen to look at corporate identity of Apples 2nd gen nano.
I didnt know where to ask and i couldn't find contact details for apple .
So i was wondering if some of you people could help me out on a presentation pack i will be creating , all i need is information on the ipod nano ( like dimensions. functions. sale information etc.) since im creating a A3 Presentation pack and thought i could include a business card and letterhead . but the brochure it self will have the new nano theme.
I was thinking a A3 sheet ( two side folder and meet in the middle to create a booklet type effect ) with the nano in the middle on the front with the swishy trail effects ( either neon red green blue white)randomly in the background (black)( like on the advert and a hold for the newsletter and business card ( like a flap , if you know what type of presentation pack i mean ?)

I see iTunes superseeded prior updates, but no firmware update. Hopefully will be a search functionality for 1st Gen versions.

It doesn't look like the search feature will be for 5G iPods or 1G iPod nanos, only the 2G iPod nanos and the Enhanced 5G iPod.
Software updates came out yesterday. However, there doesn't appear to be an iPod Updater application.
Instead, it's features are part of iTunes. When you dock your iPod you can update the software on it. iTunes will download the software update and install it on your iPod.

Have ipod nano first generation...want "search" and fast scroll from second

hi i was just asking if anyone knew if it was possible to get an update for a ipod nano first generation that allows you to have "search" and the scroll by letter function on the new ones. I have updated my ipod nano all the way to the most recent one, but there is no search function or fast scroll.

Unless your iPod is one of the Late 2006 upgraded 30GB or 80GB iPods or a 2nd Generation Nano, you don't have the search function. It was not added to existing devices in any of the subsequent updates.The original versions cannot be updated to the specification of the later versions.

When an album has multiple artist how can you make them show up on an iPod Touch 4G? I can find an artist using the search function but they don't show up in the artist view on my iPod. iTunes shows them OK when you sort by artist.

Tech support seemed to understand the question but had no answer. Why would an album with only one artist show the artist but an album with multiple artist not show any of them. The album art show various in iTunes. That makes sense but on my iPod I would expect to see all artists.

Wish I did. I tried the group function but that didn't help in iTunes. The search function is the best I came up with. I can answer the question do you have susch and such artist. But I can't browse for an artist I don't remember exactly or have misspelled. Fortunately I don't think I've bought anything from iTunes that i already had. If you can't see an artist it's possible you think you don't have something you actually do have. Sorry, still hoping for a better work around or better yet a fix.
