Ipod nano touchpad doesnt work in heat?

I noticed that when my ipod nano is in the sun and mainly in heat or hot conditions the touchpad will not work. i can still click everything and turn it on and off but the volume gets screwed up and i cant control it to go up or down. the volume is all over the place and seems to be overheated. does anyone know anything about this and if this problem is normal? thanks.
ps. once my ipod is back in cooler conditions it works normal.

The touch pad is actually heat sensitive. My guess is the pad is too warm and can't detect the movements of your fingers.
Additionally, your thread is in the iBook G4 forum and not an iPod Nano one. I'll report your post so the mods can move it to a more appropriate forum.

......but when we plug it into a little Ipod radio we can get control it to play music, etc. Worked fine up until yesterday then my wife tried to use it with the radio and like I said it will play music but the buttons on the front no longer work it seems.

Yes, your battery is likely toast and in need of replacement. Not much else for troubleshooting here. Sorry.

You mean it appears in My Computer but not in iTunes? If so, check this first:

If the Belkin supports the A2DP (Stereo Bluetooth) profile then it will work.

If you do not find a solution in the iPod nano (6th generation) - User Guide, suggest that you call AppleCare if still under warranty or take a trip to your local Apple Store or AASP.

Did the battery run out of power? If not, try doing a Reset to "reboot" the iPod

Ipod Nano won't work. HELP!

Yesterday I tried to play my ipod nano and nothing worked. It is on and the main screen comes up but none of the buttons will work. I charged it then went online and did the hold button back and forth trick and holding the menu and select button down but nothing makes it unfreeze. I can't play it in the car or anywhere. It just stays on with no buttons working. What can i do?

iPod nano's are not waterproof. It's almost certainly dead. Time for a trip to the Apple store to buy a replacement. Try and keep the new one dry!

Ipod nano will not work - keeps saying I cannot disconnect,

I downloaded the I pod Updater 6-28-06. when I connected my ipod nano, the updater came up and stated that my ipod needed updating, so I hit the update button. After forever, nothing happened, but my ipod no longer works and all my music was erased from it. My ipod keeps saying not to disconnect, but I tunes does not even register that the ipod is connected.
How do I fix this problem?

That is a pretty good sign that the battery is shot and in need of replacement. You can have Apple replace the battery for a flat fee, sending it a third party repair company to have them swap it out for a little less, or you can even purchase a replacement battery and change it out yourself using one of the numerous guides found online.

My iPod Nano doesn't work as it should...

I have just got my new iPod Nano. It's the 2gb model from the second generation. I was extremely happy, because it looks awesome and I thought that it would work same way.
The player is working perfect. Plays songs, really awesome.
But I have really BIG problems with iTunes. As I said I have got iPod today and everything is new and up-to-date - iTunes and I even somehow managed to update my iPod. Why somehow? I have extremely big problems with updating it. I think that it works okay now, but not at all. Everything is okay when I use an automatic system. I copy music I want to library, conect iPod then and everything copies perfect. The problems are starting when I try to manage iPod on my own - copy music etc. This simply doesn't work! When I try to change the system on non-automatic the error (-50) occurres and iPod cannot be updated. I even can't do this simple thing so there are no talks about deleting or copying music to iPod.
What can I do? That's simply driving me crazy :/
PS. Sorry for my English, but I'm from Poland. I don't know if the apple service exists here at all...

iTunes turns on automatically and the iPod is seen,
but it's not seen in "My Computer". Is that ok?
Since you have the iPod set at auto sync the ipod would not show in "My Computer" (someone correct me if I am wrong). If you were able to successfully switch it to manual it would show as it would be in disk mode. So I would say that this is ok.
I have done a search for the error -50 you keep getting and can't find anything. At this point I would suggest contacting Apple support to see if they can give you some insight on this error. One thing though...have you tried uninstalling iTunes from your computer completely and then re-installing it to make sure it's not an issue with your current copy of iTunes? Also, have you tried to go through the 5 R's?

If you have not gone through the 5 R's, please try that first and see if it helps. If not, then try un-installing and then re-installing iTunes. If that does not work, then it would probably be beneficial to call Apple Support.

Should an iPod Nano 2nd Generation Work With Windows Vista?

I'm just wondering if the iPod Nano 2nd generation 4g I have that is working just fine SHOULD work with latest iTunes on Windows Vista laptop (which I haven't used yet)?

Just to close this out I was able to connect the second generation 4g iPod Nano without issue. In a matter of minutes I had it loaded, recognized by iTunes with up-to-date software, sync with over 900 songs and almost 200 pictures and then ejected (I manually manage music)! Really sorry for those who can't get iTunes and/or iPod to work!
