Ipod no longer being recognized by my computer after downloading itune10.2

My iPod 4 - 64 was syncing and fully functional with iTunes version 10.1. The iTunes application suggested I upgrade to version 10.2. While upgrading my computer to iTunes version 10.2, the iTunes install application crashed. I re-downloaded the install application again. Then I did the iTunes version 10.2 install again. The install application asked if I want to fix (repair), or delete and reinstall. The install application was installed numerous times. Finally the install was successful, but the iPod was not recognized on any of my computers or Itunes. Has any one had this problem? I Have all the correct drivers for the USB for all of my computers they are all up to date. I authorized the computer. There are no virus on any of the computers. I have researched the problem and still have not found a solution. I am hoping someone one here will have a solution.
Thank you for
your Help

i did the same with my ipod classic 80 gb - it was working totally fine and when i upgraded the software yesterday it stopped synching. it now causes my itunes to freeze when it's connected to the computer. i tried different computers and cables - usb jacks, uninstalled - reinstalled itunes, hours of reading forums etc..
NO MATTER WHAT I TRIED I CONTINUE TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM ON ANY COMPUTER I PLUG INTO. and the ipod works FINE when it's not connected to the computer.
so - obviously - the software update has somehow corrupted my ipod.

  • HT4623 my iphone 4s is no longer being recognized by any computer after the last upgrade, is there a way to reinstall the ios without a computer?

I have tried changing the cable, reinstalling itunes, reset and hard reset on the phone, and it still is not working... Is there anyway to re install the os from the phone?

Have you tried rebooting the computer as well? Shut it totally off, then restart it and try again. If you are already on iOS 6.1.2 as your signature states, the only way to install an update/restore the phone would be to connect it to the PC.

Did you try using another usb port? my hardrive has two maybe yours does. And if you have a game console, some of those have usb ports so plug your ipod in there and see if that reconizes it.

  • My iPOD is not being recognized by my computer.....

I have a 30GB white iPOD. It charges and everything. Nothing seems to be wrong with it. My computer can't recognized it. I can't load/unload songs beacuse of this. I have 2 2GB nanos (the new ones) that work fine. What do I do?

You know, my new ipod (The 30 GB) was also not being recognized by my laptop and wasn't even charging.
I think I finally figured out that the usb cord in my laptop didn't have enough power and now I am using my brothers desktop and it seems to work finally.
HOWEVER, now that it didn't charge successfully the first time for a few hours like recommended and I was playing around with it to make it work, I am afraid that my battery is all messed up.
When I thought I was charging it, it really was using up the battery. And there were times my computer would freeze in the middle of the process so I would have to restart my computer
Would anyone know if my ipod will be ok?

  • My iPod isn't being recognized by the computer.

I've had my classic since this past christmas (it's the new 120g), and last week, everything got wiped off of my iPod. I'm not sure what happened exactly. I restored it on my computer, and re-synced it. Ever since then, my iPod has been showing the big red X at least once a day. Sometimes I can restart it a couple of times, and it will be fine. Today it happened, and no matter how many times I reset it, it still shows the X. I have it plugged into my computer, but the computer doesn't recognize it. It doesn't show up on My Computer or iTunes or anything. I have no idea how to restore it or what do now. I've tried using the "contact the experts" thing online, but when I plug in the serial number for a classic (8M8398FV2C5), it tells me that the number is invalid. That's the number on the back of my iPod and when I plug that number in the search bar, it comes up with a classic.
Please help me, my iPod is my baby.

    Did you try everything here:

  • IPod nano isnt being recognized by my computer

I just purchased an iPod nano and for some reason it worked perfectly the first time but every time after that it wont even be recognized by my computer. Whenever I click on removable disk (E: drive) it says "please insert disk into E:". iTunes doesnt recognize it and even the apple tech guys dont know whats going on. I also have 6 USB ports and only one is a USB 2.0, the problem is I dont know which one! I was just wondering how many other people are having the same problem as me and if anybody has managed to fix it.

  • Why is my old ipod nano not being recognized by my computer as being connected?

my older ipod nano stopped being recognised as connected to my computer. it has also stopped being recognised on my xbox 360 arcade version. please advise on what to do

I have also tried a different cable and giving it a brief charge before attempting to connect to the computer. There has been no problems connecting my iPad using the same cable or USB port and the issue remains the iPod.

  • My ancient iPod is not being recognized by the computer.

If I plug my iPhone in using the same cord, the iPhone is recognized.  It was recognizing it earlier when I was trying to upload files.
Now it just has a message about coming to the support page.
I haven't used it in a long time, but was hoping to salvage what I could to let a friend test out if she'd like to get one.
While plugged in it shows the battery icon, a little later will show the apple icon followed by the support link.
My computer is not recognizing it's existence so I cannot complete the last step (refreshing the software).
Have reset and retried. Restart doesn't seem to be the problem.  Problem seems to be wtihin iPod, but can no longer connect to reinstall or restore.

That's the odd thing; there is no red X.
I left it plugged in overnight and all of yesterday.  This morning it was working, but still not recognized on iTunes (I had disconnected and reconnected before I could check it in iTunes.)  The when I tried to connect it again it started acting funny - not connecting, cycling through apple/support/battery screens .
I had suspected the battery was a problem, but I think you may be right - that the hard drive is gone.  I have someone locally who may be able to tell me if it's salvagable.  I'd like to have it last a few months for my friend, but I know it may be a lost cause at this point.
Thanks for the help.  I don't want to give her a fancy paperweight.  I wonder if the Apple store would consider looking at this thing or if it's just too old.

  • MY IPOD SUDDENLY STOPPED BEING RECOGNIZED BY MY COMPUTER AND WOULDNT CHARGE

I have a weird problem, when I plug my IPOD into my computer, it wouldnt be recognized at all (just lik if I had not plugged anything in). The Ipod would work play songs and work fine, but all of a sudden it would not trigger its detection on my Windows XP. It happened all of a sudden.
It wont even charge, or appear in the list of devices... does anyone here have any idea of what could be the problem?
    Thanks a lot
    David.

I had this problem before. It ended up that I called
Apple and had to purchase an AppleCare Protection
Plan for $50, only for them to tell me to reset my
iPod. Here is how to do it:
Put your iPod on a flat surface.
Toggle the "hold" switch on and then off, to turn
    your iPod on.
Press and hold the MENU and SELECT buttons
simultaneously, until the Apple logo appears on the
    screen.
Then try to connect your iPod to your comptuer
    again.
    I hope this helps!
Wond3rlust, what kind iPod are you refering to? Im having the exact same problem with mine; it justs tarted doing this like alst week, but mine's an iPod shuffle, so it doesn't have "menu" and "select" buttons.
But I'm having the same issue with my shuffle. I don't knwo why its doing this. If i knew it was going to cost problems when it isn't even a year odl yet I wouldn't of gotten the shuffle; I would've gotten the mini or something, but I thought, the shuffle being small and not very high tech and everything, that it would cause no problems at all...obviously i was wrong. I NEED HELP TOO!! IM NOTHING WITHOUT MY MUSIC!

  • My new iPod isn't being recognized by my computer

Here's my issue: the iPod is brand spankin' new; it was a graduation gift from my uncle, and since we finally got an operating system that's compatible with the software, I installed it all in yesterday. It posed no problems, so I downloaded music onto it and let it charge until this morning. When I took it off, it gave me the 'folder with exclamation point' icon, so I went to Apple's support site and it told me to download updater 2006-06-28. I was hesitant, so I tried everything else before I finally downloaded it.
Now, iTunes doesn't recognize it, the computer doesn't recognize it, and not even the freakin' updater recognizes it. Not to mention, of course, that all my music and settings have been completely erased from it and continue to be erased everytime I take it off in order to try something new.
Is there anything I can possibly do?

  • IPod not longer being recognized by PC?

    Hi
I have a 4th Gen. iPod touch running 4.3.5.  Yesterday I synced up my iPod fine.  Today I tried but alas, it won't be recognised by the computer.  It's not charging, nor is it showing up as any connected USB device.
Tried it on my other computer, same problem.  Tried resetting it, same problem.
When I connected it to my wall charger, it will charge fine.
I have no idea what's wrong, it's like it arbirtrarily decided it doesn't like working on PCs.

    See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable
    - Try another charging source
    - Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.

  • Why is my bluetooth no longer being recognized by my computer?

I have a macbook pro and my bluetooth no longer works. The Bluetooth logo at the top is greyed out. Bluetooth does not show up in system preferences for me to turn on. In applications I found Bluetooth File Exchange, but when I click on it I get a message box that says "No bluetooth hardware found."
I should say it worked fine yesterday, but now it is not. Could it be the Bluetooth hardware is dead and needs to be replaced? My Mac Book Pro was purchased new in 2009 and is currently on 10.6.8 version.

Disconnect all peripherals from your computer.
Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
    Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
    Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
    Click Repair Disk.
    Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963 and restart your computer.
