Ipod suppose to hold 500 song but only holds 100

new 2 gb ... newer edition nano holds 74 songs right now and 1.49 gb's is already taken up.... i think it may be something wrong with compressing the file's... they are old music, all of them except 1 are of the beatles

The 500 song figure assumes that the songs are 4 minutes long and encoded at 128Kbps AAC; if the songs are encoded at a higher bitrate, you will need to convert the songs to get the advertised figure. In addition, if you have files, photos, or other data on your iPod, you will need to remove it to get 500 128Kbps AAC songs on the iPod.

I have my ipod backed up on multiple computers but only one computershows all my playlists.  How can I get all my play lists to show up on multiple computers?

If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply.
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing content manually on iPod
If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting to a different computer if your current one is out of commission. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it.

Since all of your music came from your computer in the first place, then it should still be there and should be included in your backup copy of your computer.

This is not true.  You have misunderstood.
You can sync as many ipods/iphones/ipads as you like to one one library.

I downloaded a song but only the first 30 seconds will play. How do I fix this?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic tune (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • I have just set up Itunes match on my new iMac. It is saying I can access all my 9000 songs but only the playlist tab is live. Am I missing something?

    Hi
I have just set up itunes match on my new imac. It is saying I can access all my 9000 songs but only the playlist tab is live - I can't access albums or songs. Am I missing something?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I do not understand your problem. iTunes Match does not change the way iTunes looks. When match process is complete, the match screen tells you how much music you have in the cloud.
Across the top of screen you have options to select songs, albums, artist, composers etc.
Suggest that from main menu, select view>show sidebar.

  • 2 GB Nano claims to hold 500 songs, but mine holds 169. What gives?

My Nano is supposed to hold 500 songs based on a 4 minutes per songs. I have no photos on it, and my songs range from a minute to six. There is nothing on the hard disk either. The only explanation I can think of is the album art for each song, but still, with approximately 95% of the songs on my iPod having album art, would that cut down the amount of songs allowed on it by more than half?
    Thank you for any assistance.

Bear in mind that the 500 song limit advertised is based on 4 minute per song, 1MB per minute, encoded as 128 kbps in AAC format.
Check the encoding of your songs. To do this, right click one the sorting columns in iTunes tick bit rate, then click this new column to sort the songs by bit rate. Any songs that are encoded at higher than 128 kbps will be causing excess space to be used for storage. To change the bit rate of these songs you can convert them to AAC format (sound quality will be lost). Or you can reimport them from CD/Computer once you have changed the import settings as detailled below, but that could be time consuming.
To convert go to the edit menu, select preferences, click the advanced tab, and select importing. For best song capacity on the iPod, make sure that the encoder is set to "Import using AAC encoder", and "High quality 128 kbps". Hit OK. Then collect together all the high encoded songs and select them all (click the top one and hold shift, then click the bottom one). Right click the highlighted area and go to "Convert selection to AAC". This could take a while if there are many songs.
If your songs are all changed into 128kbps and are mostly all around 4 mins long, then you should get very close to the 500 song limit Album art will take up space, but certainly wont reduce your capacity to les than half of the advertised limit.
P.S. If you prefer, you can also convert to MP3 format at 128kbps, since AAC encoded at this bit rate and MP3 encoded will be just about exactly the same in terms of size. It's up to you which you prefer .

  • IPod is showing duplicates of songs, but songs are not duplicated in iTunes.

iPod touch is showing duplicates of songs, but songs are not duplicated in iTunes... any ideas how to fix? Tried resyncing, didn't work.

I'm fishing slightly but you may have casing inconsistenices in artist or album names that cause the iOS firmware to see more than one instance of the album but with each getting all the tracks. Merging stuff in iTunes via sort fields may also have unintended consequenses on the device. Could you post back a screenshot or decribe the symptoms more fully, ie. exactly which menu screen you are in on the iPod, what is repeated etc. The songs menu for example can correctly list more than one copy of a song if it appears on different albums.

  • My iphone was supposed to have 8 GB but only 6.7 are available

My iphone was supposed to have 8 GB but it says only 6.7 are available and i keep running out of room! Why is this?

Some for the formatting and system and other software you have.
I'm not sure if Apple still does this but there was a way GB used to be calculated that meant when you bought a drive it was always a few percentage below the advertised size.

  • Connected to AD data store, but only recieving 100 users?!?

    Hello,
Hopefully this is an easy configuration issue, but when I connect to our AD via the access manager web app, I am only seeing 100 subjects, we should have over 500. It is always 100, so is this some limitation or configuration file based ceiling? The 100 I see appear to be the 100 early accounts, so if there is a limit to the first 100 unsorted results, this would make sense.
I have some experience with custom AD scripting and have checked all of the query filters, and these all look good.
Also, has anyone found a good attribute to throw the inetUser attribute into for AD? The userAccountControl would appear to be a very good candidate, however, I believe that this is a bitmask and is only rendered as a string, so when the attempt is made to reset it, it raises an error.
    Thanks,
    Scott Taylor

  • IPod skipping iTMS songs - but only one account

    Hi,
I'm not sure what my iPod is exactly. It's a 40GB mono screen iPod, about five years old. I thought that made it a 'classic' but perhaps not... anyway.
Since I updated iTunes last, the update deauthorised my accounts on my MacBook. One of these was my current account and I've got that up and running again fine. The second one was an old account from when I was on AOL which the nice Apple people kindly helped me convert into an Apple ID account and that, too, is now running again on my MacBook.
The weird thing is that that account won't play on my iPod. It just skips through all those songs.
It will however play them if I connect my iPod to my MacBook and play through the MacBook speakers. I've tried authorising it but it says my accounts are already authorised and anyway, I don't think that's quite how you do it on an iPod.
I'm sure it's something fairly simple but it's getting frustrating now.
I have tried doing a hard reset on the iPod, holding down Menu and the centre button but it still skips through songs on this one account.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Charley x

Roaming: Heck! I think you are right. I'm not at home right now to check so I think I can check on that only through itunes. But, as I now recall, this happened to me before. These are all Christmas songs and I set them to skip after Christmas so "by artist" they are not included. The 158 are tracks added since last year and I forgot to set. Ugh!
Thanks for the tip and I'll update tonight once I confirm.
